  • Moving symlinks into a folder based on id3 tags.

    - by Reti
I'm trying to get my music folder into something sensible. Right now, I have all my music stored in /home/foo so I have all of the albums soft linked to ~/music. I want the structure to be ~/music/<artist>/<album> I've got all of the symlinks into ~/music right now so I just need to get the symlinks into the proper structure. I'm trying to do this by delving into the symlinked album, getting the artist name with id3info. I can do this, but I can't seem to get it to work correctly. for i in $( find -L $i -name "*.mp3" -printf "%h\n") do echo "$i" #testing purposes #find its artist #the stuff after read file just cuts up id3info to get just the artist name #$artist = find -L $i -name "*.mp3" | read file; id3info $file | grep TPE | sed "s|.*: \(.*\)|\1|"|head -n1 #move it to correct artist folder #mv "$i" "$artist" done Now, it does find the correct folder, but every time there is a space in the dir name it makes it a newline. Here's a sample of what I'm trying to do $ ls DJ Exortius/ The Trance Mix 3 Wanderlust - DJ Exortius [TRANCE DEEP VOCAL TECH]@ I'm trying to mv The Trance Mix 3 Wanderlust - DJ Exortius [TRANCE DEEP VOCAL TECH]@ into the real directory DJ Exortius. DJ Exortius already exists, so it's just a matter of moving it into the correct directory that's based on the id3 tag of the mp3 inside. Thanks! PS: I've tried easytag, but when I restructure the album, it moves it from /home/foo which is not what I want.

  • trying to allow domain admins access in apache

    - by sharif
I am trying to authenticate domain admins through apache and it is not working. • ash scripting: space-containing variable refuses to be grepped

    - by Luci Sandor
I am trying to run the script listed at http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=70866&page=2 on its intended hardware, a Nokia Linux phone running BusyBox ash. The script receives the name of WiFi network as a parameter, and tries to connect the phone to it. I suspect the script works, but my SSID, BU (802.1x), has space and parentheses in it. So when I type at the command prompt autoconnect.sh BU\ \(802.1x\) I get various errors. First, LIST=`iwconfig wlan0 | awk -F":" '/ESSID/{print $2}'` if [ $LIST = "\"$1\"" ]; then ...fails, even I am connected to the network. The error is not avoided by using single or double quotes instead of escaping characters at the command prompt. Second, if [ -z `iwlist wlan0 scan | grep -m 1 -o \"$1\"` ]; then echo SSID \"$1\" not found; shows that grep does not find the string, although the same grep, typed directly into the command prompt, does find 'BU (802.1x)'. How do I quote $1 in the two circumstances above so that it will work with my network SSID, containing spaces and parentheses? Thank you.

  • When running PowerShell script as a scheduled task some Exchange 2010 database properties are null

    - by barophobia
Hello, I've written a script that intends to retrieve the DatabaseSize of a database from Exchange 2010. I created a new AD user for this script to run under as a scheduled task. I gave this user admin rights to the Exchange Organization (as a last resort during my testing) and local admin rights on the Exchange machine. When I run this script manually by starting powershell (with runas /noprofile /user:domain\user powershell) everything works fine. All the database properties are available. When I run the script as a scheduled task a lot of the properties are null including the one I want: DatabaseSize. I've also tried running the script as the domain admin account with the same results. There must be something different in the two contexts but I can't figure out what it is. My script: Add-PSSnapin Microsoft.Exchange.Management.PowerShell.E2010 Write-EventLog 'Windows PowerShell' -source PowerShell -eventid 100 -message "Starting script" $databases = get-mailboxdatabase -status if($databases -ne $null) { Write-EventLog 'Windows PowerShell' -source PowerShell -eventid 100 -message "Object created" $databasesize_text = $databases.databasesize.tomb().tostring() if($databasesize_text -ne $null) { $output = "echo "+$databasesize_text+":ok" Write-EventLog 'Windows PowerShell' -source PowerShell -eventid 100 -message "Path check" if(test-path "\\mon-01\prtgsensors\EXE\") { Write-EventLog 'Windows PowerShell' -source PowerShell -eventid 100 -message "Path valid" Set-Content \\mon-01\prtgsensors\EXE\ex-05_db_size.bat -value $output } Write-EventLog 'Windows PowerShell' -source PowerShell -eventid 100 -message "Exiting program" } else { Write-EventLog 'Windows PowerShell' -source PowerShell -eventid 100 -message "databasesize_text is empty. nothing to do" } } else { Write-EventLog 'Windows PowerShell' -source PowerShell -eventid 100 -message "object not created. nothing to do" } exit 0

  • windows 2003 under Hyper-V - can't send/receive ping

    - by glaucon
I've installed Windows 2003 x64 R2 SP2 under Hyper-V (the Windows Pro 8 edition). I have a NIC configured but I can't move any traffic on it. In particular I can't send or receive Pings. Scoreboard There is a second VM running Ubuntu under the Windows 8 host which is able to send and receive pings from the host O/S . When I try to ping from Windows 2003 guest to Windows 8 host I get 'Request Timed Out'. When I try to ping from Windows 8 host to Windows 2003 guest I get 'Reply from 192.168.10.107 Destination Host Unreachable'. There's no problem pinging from the Ubuntu guest to the Windows 8 host and no problem pinging from the Windows 8 host to the Unbuntu guest. Environment Integration services are installed on Windows 2003. The windows 2003 needs a static IP address of 192.168.10.15. The Windows 2003 ipconfig output looks like this : While the host o/s ipconfig output looks like this : Event Logs The only things I can see in the event logs which is (a) looks signifcant and (b) is not related to the lack of networking is this : I'm not sure if that's significant or not. Hyper-V and NICs When the Windows 2003 guest was first booted it had no NIC; I subsequently added a 'Legacy Network Connector' which I couldn't get Windows 2003 to recognise; I subsequently removed that and added a 'Standard Network Connector' and at least on the surface this works ... only it doesn't. 'Virtual Network Type' is external. Although I've only mentioned ping there's no other evidence of network activity. 'Allow incoming echo request' is enabled on the Windows 2003 guest. HELP ? What else should I look at or do to resolve this problem ? EDIT 1: I should have said that I turned off the firewall on the W2003 server for a while and retested the pings; same result.

  • Process files in a folder that haven't previously been processed

    - by Paul
I have a series of files in a directory that I need to carry an action out on using a script. Once the action is done, then I want to keep a log that the file has been processed, so that the next time the script is run, it does not attempt to carry out the action again. So lets say I can find all the files that should be processed like this: for i in `find /logfolder -name '20*.log'` ; do process_log $i echo $i >> processedlogsfile done So I have a file containing the logs I have processed, and my goal would be to modify the for loop such that these processed logs are not processed a second time. Doing a manual scan each time seems inefficient, particularly as the processedlogfiles gets bigger: if grep -iq "$i" processdlogfiles ; then continue; fi It would be good if these files could be excluded when setting up the for loop. Note that the OS in question is a linux derivative, a managment appliance, with a limited toolset (no attr command for example) and so no way to install additional utilities (well it is possible but not an option). Most common bash shell commands are available though. Also, the filenames and locations of the processed files must remain where they are - they can't be altered to reflect their processed status

  • Problem with diacritics on psql 9.0 (PostgreSQL)

    - by Gaks
I have two instances of PostgreSQL installed on my server: 8.3 and 9.0. There seams to be some problem with Polish diacritic characters (like óleaszzc) on postgresql 9.0 client - psql. When I connect to DB (either 8.3 or 9.0) with psql 8.3 - I can type all diacritics on the terminal without any problems: www:/tmp# sudo -u postgres /usr/lib/postgresql/8.3/bin/psql -q postgres=# ólscn However, when I connect to the same DBs with psql 9.0 client - I can't type diacritics on the terminal anymore: www:/tmp# sudo -u postgres /usr/lib/postgresql/8.3/bin/psql -q Here are some encoding settings: www:/tmp# sudo -u postgres /usr/lib/postgresql/9.0/bin/psql -q -c "show client_encoding" client_encoding ----------------- UTF8 (1 row) . www:/tmp# sudo -u postgres /usr/lib/postgresql/8.3/bin/psql -q -c "show client_encoding" client_encoding ----------------- UTF8 (1 row) . www:/tmp# sudo -u postgres /usr/lib/postgresql/9.0/bin/psql -q -l List of databases Name | Owner | Encoding | Collation | Ctype | Access privileges ---------------------+--------------+----------+-------------+-------------+----------------------- postgres | postgres | UTF8 | pl_PL.UTF-8 | pl_PL.UTF-8 | . www:/tmp# echo $LANG pl_PL.UTF-8 It looks like DB/cluster configuration doesn't matter - if psql 8.x on terminal works fine and psql 9.x does not. Any idea how to fix that?

  • What's up with stat on Mac OS X/Darwin? Or filesystems without names...

  • Vmware Workstation downloads as a txt file?

    - by George Mauer
I just went to the vmware website because I want to try workstation over virtualbox. I signed up for a workstation trial and clicked download on the 64bit linux version. What downloaded is a 320 megabyte txt file VMware-Workstation-Full-8.0.2-591240.x86_64.txt What gives? Is anyone familiar with this pattern of delivering software? How do I run it? Here is the beginning of that file: #!/usr/bin/env bash # # VMware Installer Launcher # # This is the executable stub to check if the VMware Installer Service # is installed and if so, launch it. • Varnish configuration, NamevirtualHosts, and IP Forwarding

    - by Brent
I currently have a bunch of NameVirtualHost based websites, load balanced between 3 apache2 servers using ldirectord. I would like to insert varnish as a reverse-web-proxy between ldirectord and apache in the following way: a request comes in to ldirectord it is then load balanced between the 3 apache2 servers and varnish, with a weight of 1 for the webservers, and 99 for varnish (so if varnish is rebooted, the webservers will take over seamlessly) varnish will then load balance its requests between my apache2 servers. However, the varnish part is not working. I wonder whether this has to do with the fact that my apache servers use x.x.x.x:80 for their NameVirtualHosts, instead of *:80? (they have to do this, since each server hosts multiple IP addresses) Or perhaps it has to do with the need for IP Forwarding to be set up on the varnish server? (I did echo 1 /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward on this server, is that sufficient?) How can I debug this problem? ldirectord doesn't produce logs of what it does with each request (and if it did, I would be overwhelmed with information since I'm serving hundreds of requests per second) varnish log shows the ldirectord server connecting to it every 5 seconds, but nothing else. I have set up a test site using this configuration, but it fails - no apache access logs, no applicable varnish logs.

  • Iterating through folders and files in batch file?

    - by Will Marcouiller
Here's my situation. A project has as objective to migrate some attachments to another system. These attachments will be located to a parent folder, let's say "Folder 0" (see this question's diagram for better understanding), and they will be zipped/compressed. I want my batch script to be called like so: BatchScript.bat "c:\temp\usd\Folder 0" I'm using 7za.exe as the command line extraction tool. What I want my batch script to do is to iterate through the "Folder 0"'s subfolders, and extract all of the containing ZIP files into their respective folder. It is obligatory that the files extracted are in the same folder as their respective ZIP files. So, files contained in "File 1.zip" are needed in "Folder 1" and so forth. I have read about the FOR...DO command on Windows XP Professional Product Documentation - Using Batch Files. Here's my script: @ECHO OFF FOR /D %folder IN (%%rootFolderCmdLnParam) DO FOR %zippedFile IN (*.zip) DO 7za.exe e %zippedFile I guess that I would also need to change the actual directory before calling 7za.exe e %zippedFile for file extraction, but I can't figure out how in this batch file (through I know how in command line, and even if I know it is the same instruction "cd"). Anyone's help is gratefully appreciated.

  • openvpn& iptables -- portforwarding and gateway

    - by Smith.Lai
The problem is similar to this scenario: iptables rule still take effect after deleted Scenario: There are several clients(C1~C10) providing some services, such as SSH,HTTP..... The clients are actually a personal computer behind NAT. Their IP might be 192.168.0.x For easily access these machines through internet, I built a OpenVPN server(S1). All the C1~C10 connect to S1 with VPN address 10.8.0.x If A user(U1) wanna access C1 SSH through internet, he can connect to S1 with port "55555", and S1 port forward 55555 to 10.8.0.6:22 echo 1 /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i eth0 -p tcp --dport 55555 -j DNAT --to-destination 10.8.0.6:22 It works well until I mark the following in the openvpn server.conf: I marked this because I think this will make all connection go through S1 ;push "redirect-gateway" |-------(NAT)--------| (C1)--| (INTERNET)----(U1) |-----(VPN)----(S1)--| The C1~C10 have their own path to access internet resource through NAT . The server loading would be heavy if all C1~C10 connection go through S1 (for example, C1 is sending data to C2, or C1 is downloading data from a FTP site). Is there a way to solve this quandary?

  • How do I make XTerm not use bold?

    - by mike
I like using XTerm, I like its default "fixed" font, and I like using terminal colors rather than having a monochromatic terminal. However, XTerm seems to insist on using a bold version of the font whenever it's displaying a bright color: I hate hate hate the bold version of the font, but I like the brightness. The man page seems to suggest that adding "XTerm.VT100.boldMode:false" to my ~/.Xresources would disable this "feature", but it doesn't seem to have any effect. I've had it in there for months, so it's not a rebooting issue. How can I force XTerm to always use the standard, non-bold version of the fixed font, even when it's displaying bright text? Edit: Some have suggested putting "XTerm*boldMode: false" in my ~/.Xresources. That didn't help either. I've confirmed that the changes have taken effect with xrdb, though: $ xrdb -query | grep boldMode XTerm*boldMode: false And if i run xprop and click an xterm, I get "WM_CLASS(STRING) = "xterm", "XTerm"" .. so i'm definitely running real xterms. BTW, this is just a plain-vanilla Ubuntu Intrepid box. If anyone else here is running the same, can you try running: echo -e '#\e[1m#' ...and let me know whether the # on the right has a black pixel in the middle like the one on the left does?

Everything worked fine for 2 days. All of a sudden internet speed went down drastically. When I connected the internet cable to my laptop to test the internet speed it was fine. Again when I reconnected it back to computer A everything was normal. This happened 4 times in a week. Could anyone here please help me why the internet speed is going down and it becomes normal when I reconnect the cable. EDIT: Rebooting the system (computer A) didn't make a difference. I have changed iptables so that http traffic doesn't redirect to 3128 port any further, still no change in the internet speed. I think the problem is not with squid but with something else. Here are my iptable rules SQUID_SERVER="10.1.1.1" INTERNET="eth1" LAN_IN="eth0" SQUID_PORT="3128" PROXYSERVERS=(Atlanta Baltimore Boston Chicago Dallas Denver Houston KansasCity LosAngeles Miami NewYork Philadelphia Phoenix SanAntonio SanDiego SanJose Seattle Washington) SERVERLEN=${#PROXYSERVERS[*]} I=0 iptables -F iptables -X iptables -t nat -F iptables -t nat -X iptables -t mangle -F iptables -t mangle -X modprobe ip_conntrack modprobe ip_conntrack_ftp echo 1 /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward iptables -P INPUT DROP iptables -P OUTPUT ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -i lo -j ACCEPT iptables -A OUTPUT -o lo -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -i $INTERNET -m state --state ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j ACCEPT iptables --table nat --append POSTROUTING --out-interface $INTERNET -j MASQUERADE iptables --append FORWARD --in-interface $LAN_IN -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -i $LAN_IN -j ACCEPT iptables -A OUTPUT -o $LAN_IN -j ACCEPT while [ $I -lt $SERVERLEN ]; do iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i $LAN_IN -p tcp -d ${PROXYSERVERS[$I]}.wonderproxy.com --dport 80 -j ACCEPT let I++ done iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i $LAN_IN -p tcp --dport 80 -j DNAT --to $SQUID_SERVER:$SQUID_PORT iptables -A INPUT --protocol tcp --dport 80 -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT --protocol tcp --dport 443 -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT --protocol tcp --dport 22 -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -j LOG iptables -A INPUT -j DROP

  • hardlinking takes a lot of space

    - by mr_schlomo
I made an rsync incremental backup script for my server that will copy a MySQL database backup and a specified folder path to a remote server. Here's the code on Github. Code excerpt from lines 53-57: ############### Create most current hand link echo "Creating most current hard link on backup server $most_recent_backup_link" ssh $remote_backup_server rm -rf ${most_recent_backup_link} ssh $remote_backup_server cp -alv ${remote_backup_folder}/backup-${backup_folder_name}/ ${most_recent_backup_link} I'm having a problem with creating the most current hard links on the backup server (lines 53-57 in the program). Everything works, and rsync only copies about 1-2MB of data. But the hard link copy process uses about 30MB of data. I get a huge laundry list of files that haven't changed and the only ones that have changed are very small in size. Normally this isn't a problem, but when you backup every hour, the backup should be as small as possible. For example, the last backup I did, rsync transferred 1.3MB. But the backup directory grew 35MB. Why are the hard links taking up so much hard drive space?

  • How have I locked me out from my Ubuntu VPS?

    - by Sanoj
I have a Ubuntu Server as VPS (OpenVZ), and yesterday I installed php-fpm, but I guess something went wrong with the installation. Because since then I cannot log in to my server over SSH with PuTTY or using WinSCP. The message I get when connecting is Network error: Connection timed out. Immediately after the installation I was not able to use emacs either, I had to re-install it with apt-get install emacs. I have tried with clearing the firewall and rebooting the server from my web-based "control panel", but it doesn't help. The commands I used for installation of the PHP-fpm was from Installing PHP 5.3, Nginx And PHP-fpm On Ubuntu/Debian. And I guess it has something to do with these commands: cd /tmp wget http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/k/krb5/libkrb53_1.6.dfsg.4~beta1-5ubuntu2_i386.deb wget http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/i/icu/libicu38_3.8-6ubuntu0.2_i386.deb sudo dpkg -i *.deb sudo echo "deb http://php53.dotdeb.org stable all" >> /etc/apt/sources.list sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install php5-cli php5-common php5-suhosin sudo apt-get install php5-fpm php5-cgi The web-sites that are hosted from my server works fine. Anyone that have the same experience or know how this could happen? I guess that I have to re-install Ubuntu Server from my "control panel" now, but I would like to avoid this situation in the future. Finally, I have backup on everything so nothing is lost if I have to re-install the machine.

  • SSL certificates work fine from command line but fail in script

    - by jrallison
I'm trying to setup email notifications for my continuous integration server. I have a script which uses nail to send the email when the build works: #!/bin/bash echo "Build Worked!" | nail -A myisp -s 'Build Success' [email protected] When I run this from the command line with sh build-worked, it works and I receive the email. However, when I start the continuous integration server which executes the same script, I get the following error: nail: /opt/bitnami/common/lib/libssl.so.0.9.8: no version information available (required by nail) nail: /opt/bitnami/common/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8: no version information available (required by nail) Error with certificate at depth: 0 issuer = /C=ZA/ST=Western Cape/L=Cape Town/O=Thawte Consulting cc/OU=Certification Services Division/CN=Thawte Premium Server CA/[email protected] subject = /C=US/ST=California/L=Mountain View/O=Google Inc/CN=smtp.gmail.com err 20: unable to get local issuer certificate Continue (y/n)? could not initiate SSL/TLS connection: error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed . . . message not sent. • Robocopy silently missing files

    - by John Hunt
I'm using Robocopy to sync data from our server's hard disk to an external disk as a backup. It's a pretty simple solution but pretty much the best/easiest one we could come up with - we use two external disks and rotate them offsite. Anyway, here's the script (with the comments taken out) that I'm using to do it. It works very well, it's quick and almost 100% complete - however it's acting pretty strange with a few files (note company name has been changed in paths to protect the innocent): @ECHO OFF set DATESTAMP=%DATE:~10,4%/%DATE:~4,2%/%DATE:~7,2% %TIME:~0,2%:%TIME:~3,2%:%TIME:~6,2% SET prefix="E:\backup_log-" SET source_dir="M:\Company Names Data\Working Folder\_ADMIN_BACKUP_FILES\COMPA AANY Business Folder_Backup_040407\COMPANY_sales order register\BACKUP CLIENT FOLDERS & CURRENT JOBS pre 270404\CLIENT SALES ORDER REGISTER" SET dest_dir="E:\dest" SET log_fname=%prefix%%date:~-4,4%%date:~-10,2%%date:~-7,2%.log SET what_to_copy=/COPY:DAT /MIR SET options=/R:0 /W:0 /LOG+:%log_fname% /NFL /NDL ROBOCOPY %source_dir% %dest_dir% %what_to_copy% %options% set DATESTAMP=%DATE:~10,4%/%DATE:~4,2%/%DATE:~7,2% %TIME:~0,2%:%TIME:~3,2%:%TIME:~6,2% cscript msg.vbs "Backup completed at %DATESTAMP% - Logs can be found on the E: drive." :END Normally the source would just be M:\Comapany name data\ but I altered the script a bit to test the problem. The following files in the source are not copied to the dest: Someclient\SONICP~1.DOC Someclient\SONICP~2.DOC Someclient\SONICP~3.DOC However, files in the same directory named: TIMESH~1.XLS TIMESH~2.XLS are copied. I'm able to open the files that aren't copied with no trouble at all, and they certainly weren't opened when I ran robocopy so it's not a locking issue. Robocopy is running as administrator so it's not a permissions issue. There's no trace these files were even attempted to be copied as there are no errors being output in the log or in my command prompt. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what this might be? Busted hard disk? Cheers, John.

  • Symlinks are inaccessible by their full path on OS X

    - by Computer Guru
    Hi, I have symlinks pointing to applications placed in /usr/local/bin which is in the path. However, I can't run these applications from other folders. Even more weird, I can't access them by the full path to the symlink. [mqudsi@iqudsi:Desktop/EasyBCD]$ echo $path (03-26 13:42) /opt/local/bin /opt/local/sbin /usr/local/bin /usr/local/sbin/ /usr/local/CrossPack-AVR/bin /usr/bin /bin /usr/sbin /sbin /usr/local/bin /usr/X11/bin [mqudsi@iqudsi:local/bin]$ ls -l /usr/local/bin (03-26 13:47) total 24280 -rwxr-xr-x 1 mqudsi wheel 18464 May 14 2009 ascii-xfr -rwxr-xr-x 1 mqudsi wheel 12567 Mar 25 04:50 brew -rwxr-xr-x 1 mqudsi wheel 17768 Dec 11 12:41 bsdiff -rwxr-xr-x 1 mqudsi wheel 43024 Mar 28 2009 dumpsexp -rwxr-xr-x 1 mqudsi wheel 280 Sep 10 2009 easy_install -rwxr-xr-x 1 mqudsi wheel 288 Sep 10 2009 easy_install-2.6 -rwxr-xr-x 1 mqudsi wheel 39696 Apr 5 2009 fuse_wait lrwxr-xr-x 1 mqudsi wheel 29 Mar 25 04:53 git -> ../Cellar/git/1.7.0.3/bin/git [mqudsi@iqudsi:local/bin]$ /usr/local/bin/git (03-26 13:47) zsh: no such file or directory: /usr/local/bin/git Clearly the link is there, but I'm not able to get it to it :S

  • Cannot install mercurial properly - PYTHONPATH error

    - by evident
Hi, I have a server running on Ubuntu 10.04 on which I wanted to install Mercurial via % sudo apt-get install mercurial It seems to have installed successfully and doesn't show me any error messages. But when I try it I get: % hg abort: couldn't find mercurial libraries in [/usr/bin /usr/lib/python2.6 /usr/lib/python2.6/plat-linux2 /usr/lib/python2.6/lib-tk /usr/lib/python2.6/lib-old /usr/lib/python2.6/lib-dynload /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6 /usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages] (check your install and PYTHONPATH) I've googled for a while now and found some sites with the same problem but I still have no idea on how to fix it since it nowhere really says what I need to look for or what I need to add to my PYTHONPATH... By the way, right now my PYTHONPATH seems to be empty: % echo $PYTHONPATH % This is what I get if I look into my /usr/lib/ directory for mercurial: % find /usr/lib/py* -name 'mercurial*' /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/mercurial /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/mercurial-1.4.3.egg-info /usr/lib/pyshared/python2.6/mercurial Can anybody please help me with that? What (and how) should I set my PYTHONPATH to? I already tried reinstalling, installing with "easy_install mercurial" or with "aptitude reinstall mercurial" but nothing helped. I always get this same error. Would be great if anyone could help... thanks! ADDITION: Building from scratch didn't work out well... when I am logged in as root I can use hg, but when I access with my normal user I get: % hg Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/local/bin/hg", line 4, in <module> import pkg_resources File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/pkg_resources.py", line 2659, in <module> parse_requirements(__requires__), Environment() File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/pkg_resources.py", line 546, in resolve raise DistributionNotFound(req) pkg_resources.DistributionNotFound: mercurial==1.7.2
