Hi,
I don't see a LINQ option when picking a data source for a grid view - any ideas?
I just upgraded to Visual Web Developer 2010. I see the other options like SQL etc.
Thanks!
OK, so I have started a contract where they are using (gulp) Visual SourceSafe and are looking to move to something better. I have recommended Git. I stumbled across vss2git, which looks useful for migrating from VSS. Has anyone used it?
Many thanks!
Using VisualStudio 2005
Language: c#
A new to c#
I have software, the software should communicate with gprs devices. So i want to write a protocol, TCP, UDP communication code.
Can any one give some idea for writing a source code and some sample code also.
Hi there.
I'm setting up a VC++ project in MS VisualStudio 2008 that'll be used by several people. I wanted to keep things as simple as possible so I've set up Additional Include Directories via the Project properties. I've also set up additional library files via Tools - Options - Projects and Solutions - VC++ Directories.
However, my issue is that I really need to set up Additional library PATHs, because I am using an SDK which does inline linking of libraries.
I could just tell each one of the participants to manually add the library path to their MSVS2008 environment, but it would be handy if I could integrate the RELATIVE library path in the project itself.
I use two monitors. The second one has a browser open. I use Visualstudio in the first monitor and making edits to the web page.
Would love to press a key and instantly see the change in the browser. Basically doing a refresh in the browser behind the scene and still keep window focus in the editor. Instead of keep switching to the browser, refresh, switch back to VS.
Any better ideas than using a keyboard recorder like AutoPilot?
When I am running
myProcess = Process.Start("something.exe")
and want to start it using button it doen not find the file - i need to execute it from the same folder where application is how can i do that? Thank you.
System could not find this file - but it is there . in the same folder as application.
Using Visual Basic 2008 Express
I hit control + Scroll lock, control + break, and control + every other key on the keyboard.
I have a feeling I am going to see this error in VisualStudio 2050.
Does anyone know how to resolve it when it occurs?
Is there a way to configure visualstudio to limit the characters on aspx page to a certain number of characters?
I tried setting the character limit on Formatting and Validation on aspx page. but that didnt work.
I need a table control where one can edit properties by various ways, just like editing properties in VisualStudio (it's for XML editing). Does anybody know about something like that, written by others, or maybe a solution from MS itself?
Very often I hear: use a profiler and unit test. How do I do that? I would be glad if someone would provide either links to websites with tutorials or recommend a good book. I'm using VisualStudio 2010 Ultimate.
Are there any known issues with visualstudio and code being swapped between projects?
I had a project running in VS2008 and when i went back to it, the code from another project had been swapped in the Program.cs class. I havent made any mistakes, im not talking about some code- i mean the whole project had been swapped out. Its as if the .proj files or .soln files had been swapped from their project folders???
EDIT
Ive restarted laptop, opened the code again and its still showing the wrong code BUT when i execute it, its the right code?!?!?!
What are "directoryentry" and "directorysearch" controls in VisualStudio 2008? How do they work? What are there real-world applications? What about their properties?
I'd like to build an MSI installer that installs a managed DLL and makes it accessible to users from VisualStudio's "Add References" menu in Solution Explorer. I believe I am supposed to add a key into the Windows registry but I cannot see how to tell the VS project for the MSI to do this at install.
How is this done and where should I look for tutorials on this kind of thing?
We have succesfully built our TFS 2010 infrastructure and the first VM using VisualStudio 2010. Now I have a very simple question. How I can move a solution from our existing TFS 2008 to the new one 2010?
Is there any tool included in TFS?
Hi,
I am creating a setup project using VisualStudio. I want to reboot the system after the installation completed successfully.
I want it one time effort. I do not want to modify the setup each time using any external tool/ utility before delivering it to client.
Can I tweak the setup project itself?
How Can I do that?
As far as I know some company will use Devexpress to speed up the UI design
some company might use the AssistX .
another question:
is there any plugin which can help to keep a eye on our company 's code convention? If someone don't follow the convention, visualstudio will warn him ?
Under the visual C++, we have " hash_map" and "hash_set". In g++, we have " stdext::hash_map" and " stdext::hash_set". Is there any difference in terms of their respective performance or other factors?
What is the easiest way of pulling an excisting method out of it's class and into a new class using Visualstudio 2010 / Resharper?
Edit: I use Resharper version 5.
Say that I'm writing a test and my caret is here (indicated by "|"):
[ExpectedException(typeof(InvalidOperationException|))]
In VisualStudio 2010, I'd like to press some shortcut that would take me to the next line so that I could start typing "public void Etc()".
Right now, I need to press
Right arrow
Right arrow
Right arrow
Enter
Which is too many key presses IMO. Is there a VS2010 / ReSharper shortcut to aid this operation?
OK, see the numbers? I can barely see them because my VisualStudio 2010 theme has the backround as almost-black, and the numbers show up in the default color, which is black. I can't figure out which setting changes the color for a number in a .sql file. Does anyone know?
In the spirit of undefined behavior associated with sequence points such as “x = ++x” is it really undefined?, how does one get the compiler to complain about such code?
Specifically, I am using VisualStudio 2010 and Xcode 4.3.1, the latter for an OSX app, and neither warned me about this. I even cranked up the warnings on VS2010 to "all", and it happily compiled this. (For the record, VS2010's version added 1 to the variable where Xcode's version kept the variable unchanged.)
Hello,
Googling nor binging "VC++ What's new C++0x" gives me nothing that tells me what is new.Is there an official page at msdn or something similiar that contains the information for VC++ 10? I've seen such for C#,there must be one for what I'd enjoy to read.
If not, please list the new features available in VisualStudio 2010 for VC++.
How can i download all directory from server recursively. I use WinINet and this problem solve very hard. I interested there is some easy way that download files and folders from ftp on visual-c++?
I need to monitor a directory which contains many files and a process reads and deletes the .txt files from the directory; once all the .txt files are consumed, the consuming process needs to be killed. How do I check if all the .txt files are consumed using C++?
I am developing my application on VisualStudio on windows platform.
