I have a bunch of png files that I want to rescale.
Oversimplifying a little, let's say I have files named:
[email protected][email protected][email protected]
and so on, and I want to make:
apple.png
orange.png
pear.png,
and so on, with the output files all at half the scale of the corresponding input files. Is there a good tool for that? I have about 200 input files, so preferably the whole process would be automated.
I need to download a bunch of files from a website but I don't want to have to click on each file to add it to downloadall or whatever.
The structure of the website is as follows:
http://something.com/katalog/?get=Exclusive/group1/2012.09.03/
The directory has loads of randomly named files with .doc extensions. I can't use the batch feature because the files don't start or end with the same characters e.g. 001...100.
Any ideas/
I haven't even set up my website on my dedicated server so I'm the only one using it at the moment. And yet this is what I see in my sys info:
Full Size
I just got a bunch of security softwares installed today so I'm wondering if that could be the reason. Programs like Dos deflate, CSF firewall, Mod_security, SIM, Log watch, etc.
My server's details:
CentOS
Processor Intel Xeon CPU X3220
CPU Speed 2.39 GHz
Cache Size 4.00 MB
RAM 2GB DDR2
Hey!
I am looking for a program that will allow me to create a sort of training cd.
Something that will let me take a bunch of songs and let me limit them to 3m (maybe more or maybe less) and have one song repeat for 1m.
So the cd would be like
3m 1m 3m ... etc
Anyone know a program that will allow me to do this?
I am on win7 64bit machine
Thanks
Based on the results of this post, I'm trying to install Windows SteadyState on a bunch of computers with no internet connection (but all with legitimate copies of windows XP pro). The problem is that the installer asks to be connected to the Windows Genuine Advantage server, and I can't manage that.
Is there a workaround? I can use internet at my home, but cannot have the school install and pay for a connection.
Maybe there's another program that would work just as well?
When installing CentOS (6.2), it installs a whole bunch of packages, but the installation is often very fast, it's hard to note the names of the packages. I have a couple of questions:
1) I'm guessing I could wait for the entire installation to complete and then query for the list of installed packages on the system. How do I do that?
2) Is there a printed list somewhere on the web, so I don't have to install the OS first just to get the list?
So far I used
trap " call function" 2
fucntion
{
./test.sh
exit
}
but it never reaches the exit line and a whole bunch of process piles up any one got any idea?
I tried & (bg) but i need to be able to keep doing it , the bg only allows me to do it once
The point of it is when i type ctrl C it should terminate the original test.sh but it should also call itself before terminating hence create a new process.
I have a page with a bunch of HTML tables that I need to print.
Each table should fit on one page, but both Firefox and Safari want to break them over multiple pages and put more than one on a page.
Is there any way to force it to not break the tables across pages?
I can use any Mac program to print.
Thanks.
I'm in the process of deploying a bunch of Win2K8R2 VMs via vSphere's deployment template stuff, and in the deploy specification it allows you to punch a list of commands to run. Aside from activating Windows (which it doesn't do), it works pretty well.
Does anyone know the command-line equivalent of going into a network adapter's properties and unchecking the IPv6 box? If I had that I could put that in the spec and not have to manually uncheck the IPv6 box.
Now that Windows Server 2012 comes with de-duplication features for NTFS volumes I am having a hard time finding technical details about it. I can deduce from the TechNet documentation that the de-duplication action itself is an asynchronous process - not unlike how the SIS Groveler used to work - but there is virtually no detail about the implementation (algorithms used, resources needed, even the info on performance considerations is nothing but a bunch rule-of-thumb-style recommendations).
Insights and pointers are greatly appreciated, a comparison to Solaris' ZFS de-duplication efficiency for a set of scenarios would be wonderful.
I'm looking for a Mac application or an Web application to sync all my Facebook, LinkedIn, Gmail contacts and Mac OS X address book contacts in one place.
At the same time, it would be great if it didn't create a bunch of duplicates.
(PS: The default sync between gmail contacts and address book seems to only create duplicates and doesn't seem to really work well together).
Does anyone have a solution?
I'm looking for a search and replace tool that takes a list of rules and either a file (or directory) and runs those rules on the files. I have a bunch of different things that need to be changed in many files, and I'd like to be able to run all the rules in one shot.
I was hoping I could put the rules separate file, and use the same set of rules over and over again.
Does such a tool exist?
You probably all know the relatively simple RAID boxes exporting a bunch of SATA disks as one big drive via FC, SAS or iSCSI, like the HP StorageWorks MSA2000, Infortrends EonStore series or many different other models from different manufacturers.
Is it possible to create such a device with Linux, a few disks and an FC controller, using the controller in the reverse direction than usual?
This would come handy to test some ideas and concepts in an emerging SAN environment.
I have bunch of Chinese .wav files on my hard disk that I'm trying to convert into .mp3 with Audacity but it appear that Audacity can not read Chinese character songs but the .wav file display correctly on my 32 bits Win7 Ultimate(English) pc.
I have to rename these Chinese character songs into English file name in order to convert them.
Does anyone know if there is any software (prefer open source) that will take Chinese character file name(.wav) and convert it into .mp3 without renaming the file?
I have a slow machine, mainly a Celeron with 250gb HD.
I'm planning to install a Linux distro and create a bunch of VMs for development.
Which distro should I choose? I plan to use this machine mainly as a small "hypervisor" to other vms.
Is it possible? What do you suggest?
Thanks!
I have a bunch of ghost image files to edit. These are Windows OS images, and I need to add a few files into the them.
I could have used Ghost Explorer (GhostExp.exe) to modify them one by one, but it would be nicer to have a command line utility to do the trick, so that I can write a script to do this automatically for me.
Any suggestions?
I'd like to resize a bunch of images of variable size to be 720 by 480. Furthermore, I'd like to have the final image be rotated so that it is right side up. Any tools to help with the resizing at least?
When I make changes to files, I keep on finding myself "saving as" and adding the current date to the file. It slows me down, and it creates a bunch of files that clot my folder. I would prefer to be able to Right Click on a file from the File Explorer and select to save different versions of this file, so that each time I save it, it saves a copy somewhere, that I can access in the future if necessary.
Is there any application that achieves this?

First time here. I have bought e530 with windows 8 and the first hour of work with it i have a problem.
I have ssd with windows 7 which i want to use with my new e530. I have made a sysprep of win 7 and installed ssd to the e530. The HDD which was inside e530 i want to use as second hdd instead of my DVD Drive.
I connected this HDD through usb-to-sata adapter to copy some files from ssd to the hdd. Unfortunately it didn't see the file system on the HDD (but first time i have booted to it and first boot into Windows 8) I've made some mistakes and i corrupt the filesystem on the hdd.
I tried bunch of tricks to recover the GPT, but it didn't work. I have managed to recover the Lenovo_Recovery partition to my ssd using recovery tools.
And now I'm stuck, with this new things to me - EFI, GPT, etc i don't how this stuff works, and i have been trying to understand this for hours - but nothing seems to work. I want to restore the Windows 8 to the hdd, so it is there alive.
What i have done so far:
Formated the HDD
I took the PBRALL file from the Lenovo_Recovery
" convert gpt
create partition Primary size=1000 ID=DE94BBA4-06D1-4D40-A16A-BFD50179D6AC
gpt attributes=0x8000000000000001
assign letter=W
format quick LABEL=WINRE_DRV
create partition efi size=260
assign letter=s
format quick fs=fat32 LABEL=SYSTEM_DRV
create par msr size=128
create partition primary noerr
assign letter=t
format quick LABEL=Windows8_OS
shrink desired=12197
create partition Primary ID=DE94BBA4-06D1-4D40-A16A-BFD50179D6AC
gpt attributes=0x8000000000000001
assign letter=q
format quick LABEL=Lenovo_Recovery "
it recreated the partitions
copied contents of SDRIVE.zip to SYSTEM_DRV partition
copied contents of WDRIVE.zip to WINRE_DRV partition
Copied restored Lenovo_Recovery back to Lenovo_Recovery partition
So now I have 3 system partitions:
SYSTE_DRV
BOOT
boot.sdi
EFI
BOOT
bootx64.efi
LenovoBT.efi
Lenovo
...
Microsoft
...
WINRE_DRV\Recovery\WindowsRE\winre.wim
Lenovo_Recovery (whic contains install.wim and bunch of other things)
So i put back the HDD inside the laptop and tried to boot - but nothing works. It just doesn't boot to anything - no errors - nothing at all. When I choose this HDD manually for boot - just black screen blinks and that's all - it returns back to the devices boot menu.
SYSTEM_DRV is EFI partition, so I don't understand why it doesn't boot, it has files needed inside.
Can anybody tell me what should be done to make it boot to recovery console or smth like that? How to restore the Windows 8 from the Lenovo_Recovery install.wim image? As I understand I have all the files where they should be, but why it doesn't work? How to troubleshoot such things?
Also, if somebody has good link where EFI booting process is explained in details that would be great. Cause i still don't understand how it knows what partition to boot?
I have a bunch of sheets in my workbook, in each one there is an email address at B6.
What I want to do is to make a list with all the email addresses. I'm familiar with sheet range (all my sheets are between a sheet "first" and a sheet "last"), so I can do something like first:last!B6 to refer to the range. But what is the formula?
Hi all,
I've been searching the internet for a while for this answer.
I have a bunch of computers that are part of a small business server domain and would like to be able to connect to each one individually with remote desktop connection using a subdomain, like:
computer1.mydomain.org
computer2.mydomain.org
etc...
I can currently connect to the server easily using an A record with the subdomain pointing to the static IP address with home.mydomain.org, so computer1.home.mydomain.org would also be cool.
Thanks!
What would be the quickest way to convert a bunch of pdf files to jpeg files? I know I can open Preview and Save As image, but that could take a long time.
Thanks for any help.
I have a bunch of mp3 files that have silence at the beginnings and ends, is there any program to trim this automatically? I would prefer that I can just give it a list of files to trim as opposed to having to do them individually.
