  • How to embed a google map with a changeable area?

    - by Tom
I haven't worded this very well But basically, I'd like to embed a map on my site - but the area it shows will change. I've tried doing this, but it never seems to work as it will focus on the wrong area - the old area, rather than the new area. Basically, I'd like a google map code that uses $place as a location. Thanks.

    - by Johnny Rottenweed
    I am trying to get a simple map displayed. This is what I have: package com.chance.squat; import com.chance.squat.R; import com.google.android.maps.MapActivity; import android.os.Bundle; public class Maps extends MapActivity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.maps); } @Override protected boolean isRouteDisplayed() { return false; } } <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <com.google.android.maps.MapView xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/mapview" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:clickable="true" android:apiKey="A2:D9:A5:1C:21:6F:D7:44:47:23:31:EC:1A:98:EF:36" /> <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" package="com.chance.squat" android:versionCode="1" android:versionName="1.0"> <application android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="@string/app_name" android:theme="@style/CustomTheme"> <uses-library android:name="com.google.android.maps"/> <activity android:name=".MyApp" android:label="@string/app_name"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> <activity android:name="com.chance.squat.Search" android:label="@string/app_name"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> </intent-filter> </activity> <activity android:name="com.chance.squat.Add" android:label="@string/app_name"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> </intent-filter> </activity> <activity android:name="com.chance.squat.About" android:label="@string/app_name"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> </intent-filter> </activity> </application> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET"/> </manifest> I also have downloaded the Google APIs for version 8 and have set to build against them. My problem is it doesn't seem to find import com.google.android.maps.MapActivity and I don't know why or what the next step is. Can anyone help?

  • What is the use of different types of function call in js?

    - by sparrow
I have seen different type of js function call like function aTestFunction(param) { // function body } and also: aTestFunction = function(param) { // function body } what is the difference in above to implementaion? Also, i found that jquery/prototype js framework uses the second implementation in most cases. Is there any special reason for that? Sorry, I am a novice so this question may be silly to someone but will be helpful me if any guru out there helps me with this silly question. Thanks in advance.

  • Dynamic Cocoon Block list

    - by Crischan
Hi, I have a Cocoon 2.2 based application which uses blocks for different tasks and one block for shared pipeline fragments. All blocks are mounted within an Cocoon webapp. Now I would like to have an block which generates an overview of all other mounted blocks. I probably will have to use Java code - which is fine - but I am kinda lost where to start. Can anyone point me the right direction?

  • Getting scp's status bar to appear in a Java window

    - by pete
I'm writing a program that uses scp to copy files in a bigger java program. As it stands now, the program freezes up while the scp is copying the file, which can take a few minutes, so I'd like to be able to display the progress of the scp or at the very least get the terminal window with the scp progress to show up! Any suggestions?

  • What is a way to access .accdb files for reading and writing?

    - by JPJedi
I have an Microsoft Access Database (.accdb) that stores information needed in an application. Is there a way to distribute my application with the access database without having the user have access installed or get the user to go and download and install the office runtime? The windows form application that uses the access database is developed in VB.net in Visual Studio 2008.

  • RESTful API: How to model 'request new password'?

    - by Jan P.
I am designing a RESTful API for a booking application and was quite happy to see I could map all details of the application to the 4 HTTP methods. /users - GET, POST /users/({id}|myself) - GET, POST, PUT, DELETE /users/({id}|myself)/bookings - GET, POST /users/({id}|myself)/bookings/{id} - GET, POST, PUT, DELETE Example: Updating my own user uses a PUT to /users/myself. But now I found out that one thing is missing: The possibility to request a new password if I forgot my old one. Any idea how I could add this?

  • Can I use the SharePoint 2010 SQL Database through SharePoint from my App?

    - by Michael Stum
I wonder if there is a supported way to access the SharePoint 2010 SQL Server through an API? I'm not talking about modifying any SharePoint Database directly (I know that that is still unsupported), but I'd like to store some data that my application needs, and instead of asking the user to enter a Connection String, I'd prefer to create my own database on the SQL Server that SharePoint uses. I think I could use the new Service Application stuff, but that seems a bit overkill?

  • Is a string formatter that pulls variables from its calling scope bad practice?

    - by Eric
I have some code that does an awful lot of string formatting, Often, I end up with code along the lines of: "...".format(x=x, y=y, z=z, foo=foo, ...) Where I'm trying to interpolate a large number of variables into a large string. Is there a good reason not to write a function like this that uses the inspect module to find variables to interpolate? import inspect def interpolate(s): return s.format(**inspect.currentframe().f_back.f_locals) def generateTheString(x): y = foo(x) z = x + y # more calculations go here return interpolate("{x}, {y}, {z}")

  • IIS 6.0 Server and Unicode Characters

    - by Srikanth
We are performing a pen test on a simple asp application that uses MS SQL Database. It seems for the authentication they are using dynamic constructed queries but escaping single qoutes. When we use Unicode quotes like %uFFO7,%u02b9 etc we are able to successfully inject SQL injections. Want to understand is it more a kind of configuration issue of IIS server to cannonicalize Unicode characters or the way the validation function to escape single quotes is written is the cause of the problem?

  • How to login users that are stored within a Wordpress account

    - by user3716795
I am developing an iOS app that is password protected and all the users are stored in a wordpress account that, of course, is password protected as well. Does anybody know the format that wordpress uses to store login information for these accounts, I would assume that it is a MySQL that sends a json? I have only been able to find the database code for the initial admin page but nothing that shows the way these accounts (815 to be exact) would be stored within the site.

  • JIRA or Trac?

    - by seedhead
I used Atlassian JIRA for bug and issue tracking at my last job. I absolutely loved it and it was particularly easy on the eyes. My present company is using Trac instead, and while it does do all the basics, I am finding it really lacking, particularly with the inability to easily setup multiple projects and link issues. Oh, and the fact that it uses SQLLite is a bit of an issue for me to. Does anyone have any other good reasons to switch?
