  • How can I test potentially browser crashing javascript without having to restart my browser?

    - by yaya3
    I've been having a crack at some of the problems over at http://projecteuler.net/ with JavaScript. I've been using a simple html page and running my code in script tags so I can log my results in the browsers' console. When experimenting with loops I sometimes cause the browser to crash. Is there a better environment for me to do this kind of development in, or anything I can do to allow me to carry on testing in the browser?

  • Asynchronous Delegates Vs Thread/ThreadPool?

    - by claws
    Hello, I need to execute 3 parallel tasks and after completion of each task they should call the same function which prints out the results. I don't understand in .net why we have Asychronous calling (delegate.BeginInvoke() & delegate.EndInvoke()) as well as Thread class? I'm little confused which one to use when? Now in this particular case, what should I use Asychronous calling or Thread class? I'm using C#.

  • How fast are EC/2 nodes between each other?

    - by tesmar
    Hi, I am looking to setup Amazon EC/2 nodes on rails with Riak. I am looking to be able to sync the riak DBs and if the cluster gets a query, to be able to tell where the data lies and retrieve it quickly. In your opinion(s), is EC/2 fast enough between nodes to query a Riak DB, return the results, and get them back to the client in a timely manner? I am new to all of this, so please be kind :)

  • highlight query string in more than one field using solr search feature

    - by Romi
    i am using solr indexes for showing my search results. to show serch results i am parsing json data received from solr. i am able to highlight a query string in search result but only in a single field. for this i set hl=true and hl.fl="field1". i did it as $.getJSON("http://192.168.1.9:8983/solr/db/select/?wt=json&&start=0&rows=100&q="+lowerCaseQuery+"&hl=true&hl.fl=description,name&hl.usePhraseHighlighter=true&sort=price asc&json.wrf=?", function(result){ var n=result.response.numFound var highlight = new Array(n); $.each(result.highlighting, function(i, hitem){ var match = hitem.text[0].match(/<em>(.*?)<\/em>/); highlight[i]=match[1]; }); $.each(newresult.response.docs, function(i,item){ var word=highlight[item["UID_PK"]]; var result = item.text[0].replace(new RegExp(word,'g'), '<em>' + word + '</em>'); }); for this json object is as : { "responseHeader": { "status": 0, "QTime": 32 }, "response": { "numFound": 21, "start": 0, "docs": [ { "description": "The matte finish waves on this wedding band contrast with the high polish borders. This sharp and elegant design was finely crafted in Japan.", "UID_PK": "8252", }, { "description": "This elegant ring has an Akoya cultured pearl with a band of bezel-set round diamonds making it perfect for her to wear to work or the night out.", "UID_PK": "8142", }, ] }, "highlighting": { "8252": { "description": [ " and <em>elegant</em> design was finely crafted in Japan." ] }, "8142": { "description": [ "This <em>elegant</em> ring has an Akoya cultured pearl with a band of bezel-set round diamonds making" ] }, } } Now if i want to highlight query string in two fields i did as hl=true hl.fl=descrption, name my json is as: { "responseHeader":{ "status":0, "QTime":16 }, "response":{ "numFound":1904, "start":0, "docs":[ { "description":"", "UID_PK":"7780", "name":[ "Diamond bracelet with Milgrain Bezel1" ] }, { "description":"This pendant is sure to win hearts. Round diamonds form a simple and graceful line.", "UID_PK":"8121", "name":[ "Heartline Diamond Pendant" ] }, "highlighting":{ "7780":{ "name":[ "<em>Diamond</em> bracelet with Milgrain Bezel1" ] }, "8121":{ "description":[ "This pendant is sure to win hearts. Round <em>diamonds</em> form a simple and graceful line." ], "name":[ "Heartline <em>Diamond</em> Pendant" ] } } } Now how should i parse it to get the result. suggest me some general technique, so if i want to highlight query in more fields then i could do so. Thanks

  • How to search a MySQL database for a specific string

    - by Nadia
    I am trying to set up a search feature on my site that will only return exact matches to keyword entered by the user. So if the user searches "dog" I don't want an article titled "Doggy Style" to appear in the search results (just an example I don't really have an article by that name). This of course does exactly that: SELECT * FROM articles WHERE article_title LIKE '%$searchQuery%' $searchQuery here is a PHP variable taken from the user's input form. So is there any way to return only exact matches?

  • How to test my Firebird SQL queries

    - by Bob
    I'm in the process of learning SQL, and I need a way of verifying that my SQL queries are valid (i.e. no syntax errors). I also would like to check what results they yield on a test database of my choosing and structure. I'm using embedded firebird in my C# .NET application, so I don't really have any tools to work with. Anyone have any tips? Perhaps there are SQL administrators/query IDEs out there that work with Firebird?

  • Remove a layer from a ggplot2 chart

    - by Erik Shilts
    I'd like to remove a layer (in this case the results of geom_ribbon) from a ggplot2 created grid object. Is there a way I can remove it once it's already part of the object? library(ggplot2) dat <- data.frame(x=1:3, y=1:3, ymin=0:2, ymax=2:4) p <- ggplot(dat, aes(x=x, y=y)) + geom_ribbon(aes(ymin=ymin, ymax=ymax), alpha=0.3) + geom_line() # This has the geom_ribbon p # This overlays another ribbon on top p + geom_ribbon(aes(ymin=ymin, ymax=ymax, fill=NA))

  • Best way to get timezone of user based on area code

    - by niyogi
    Hi folks I'm attempting to get a timezone of a user based on area code information that they provided. I discovered the following resource on maxmind: http://geolite.maxmind.com/download/geoip/api/php/timezone/ I suspect that I could use this with another api that provides the state that an area code belongs to. I'm looking for a simple REST API that provides this info - or a robust scraping routine that achieve the same results. Thanks in advance!

  • How to set offset in GORM when using createCriteria?

    - by firnnauriel
    I'm just wondering if it's possible for 'createCriteria' to specify the paginateParams (i.e. offset) similar to dynamic finder (findAll, etc.) Note that this code is not working since 'offset' is not documented in http://www.grails.org/doc/1.2.1/ref/Domain%20Classes/createCriteria.html def c = SnbrItemActDistance.createCriteria() def results = c.list { eq('iid', newsId) ge('distance', cap) maxResults(count) offset(offset) order('distance', 'desc') }
