  • finding missing values, mysql??

    i am using mysql database i have a table called sales its primary key is sales_id ------------------------------------- sales_id | invoice_id | ------------------------------------- 1 | 147 2 | 148 3 | 150 for sales-id 3 the invoice is supposed to be 149. i want to know which numbers are missing from invoice_id (i start invoice_id is 147 and end invoice_id is 4497). The invoice_id had no relation with sales_id is it possible to know which numbers are missing from invoice_id, using some queries??

  • Templates in C#

    I know generics are in C# to fulfill a role similar to C++ templates but I really need a way to generate some code at compile time - in this particular situation it would be very easy to solve the problem with C++ templates. Does anyone know of any alternatives? Perhaps a VS plug-in that preprocesses the code or something like that? It doesn't need to be very sophisticated, I just need to generate some methods at compile time.

    I need to make a program that shows the hash value of a given key, using extendible hashing. In extendible hashing, I know that the buckets split and directories change. So if I make my program, do I have to already know things like if the bucket it hashes to is filled, or do I not have to worry about those things and just compute a hash value based on the key?

  • Do I need to create icons other than RGBA for my Windows app?

    I'm curious if anyone still creates icons other than RGB/A (or 32-bit with alpha-channel) for your Windows apps? PS. I know that suggested model is to create 256-color versions of icons, but I always struggle with those. If I automatically convert them in an icon editor they totally decimate the look of my original icons with jagged edges and circa-Windows95 look. So if those are still required, does anyone know the stats on how many people are still using color settings other then 32-bit TrueColor?

  • rsync via cron. How do I enable logging?

    Hi all I'm backing up a remote server to another computer using rsync. In cron.daily I have a file with this: rsync -avz -e ssh [email protected]:/ /mybackup/ It uses a public / private key pair to login. This seems to work well most of the time however, I've (foolishly) only ever really checked it by looking at the dates on some important files (MySQL dumps) that I know change every day. Obviously, an error could occur after that file. Sometimes it fails. When I run it manually, something like "client reset" sometimes happens. What is the best way to log it so that I can check with certainty if it completed or not? The cron log doesn't indicate any errors. I haven't tried it but the rsync man page on the oldish version of CentOS on the backup machine doesn't show the --log-file option. I guess I could redirect stdout with but I don't really want to know about every file. I just want to know if it all worked or not.. Thanks

What are the delays in such system? i think of using jumbo packets in my system because i need to transfer a lot of data between 2 computers. i tried to find information about the delays and what are the disadvantages using jumbo packets in 1 gigabit- i didn't find a lot. I want to know if there is a way to show the context menu for each element on a key press(preferably the menu key).     Hi, It is probably pretty simple but I cannot figure it out: Say I have tables A and B both with the same columns. I need to do SELECT * FROM A,B without having results merged into one row. I.e. when each table has 2 rows, I need the result to have 4 rows. EDIT: I know about JOIN but dont know how to join the tables without predicate. I need merge them. Thanks
