  • Eliminate horizontal scrolling in div in favor of horizontal scrolling in browser window

    - by Casey Flynn
    I have a div, set to 800px wide, that will automatically scroll horizontally if the browser window is resized to < 800px. The behavior I would like, is to have the browser window scroll instead of the div. It would seem simple but for some reason I'm getting hung up on it. Any ideas? The page in question: http://www.caseyflynn.com/game/ The div CSS: div#main_container { border: 1px solid #FFF; width:800px; margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto; padding:0px; background-color:#FFF; overflow:hidden; } The BODY CSS: html, body { background-color:#000; border:0px; margin:0px; padding:0px; font-family : Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size : 62.5%; overflow:auto; } I'm assuming anyone looking at this will have the ability to see the HTML and the CSS. Thanks!

  • Firefox -- Dynamically embedding <svg> element in SVG

    - by zourtney
    I am trying dynamically to append an <svg> element within an existing SVG island on an XHTML page (Firefox 3.6.3). Done manually, this works as expected: <svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"> <svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"> ... </svg> </svg> However, if you dynamically add this element using JavaScript, the browser crashes. Simple example: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:svg="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"> <head> <title>SVG island example</title> <script type="text/javascript"><![CDATA[ function crash( ) { svgs = document.getElementsByTagNameNS( "http://www.w3.org/2000/svg", "svg" ); for ( var i = 0; i < svgs.length; i++ ) { var e = document.createElementNS( "http://www.w3.org/2000/svg", "svg" ); svgs[i].appendChild( e ); } } ]]></script> </head> <body> <svg id="mySVG" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"> </svg> <button onclick="crash()">Crash Firefox</button> </body> </html> Interestingly, if I do a getElementById, it works fine. Interesting, but not particularly helpful in my situation since I'm storing pointers to SVGDocuments. Example: function doesntCrash( ) { var svg = document.getElementById( "mySVG" ); var e = document.createElementNS( "http://www.w3.org/2000/svg", "svg" ); svg.appendChild( e ); } As far as I can tell, this is a Firefox bug. Does anyone have any insight into this matter?

  • Contact-to-hire from the perspective of the headhunter agency?

    - by jamieb
    I operate a small IT consulting firm. One of my clients has expressed an interest in having an ASP.Net programmer on-site at their location for a six-month contract, with an option to hire. I've never really operated my company as a body shop (renting out talent for the long term) and an unfamiliar with how to price my quote. Assume I were to bring on a new developer as a 1099'ed contractor and then contract that person out to my client for the duration of the project. If I'm billing my client $X per hour for this developer's time, what should I be compensating this developer? $X/2 per hour? What's the typical ratio? If the client decides to hire this person at the end of the contract, what should I be compensated? Is it a flat finders fee, or maybe a function of the developer's annual salary? Would there be any advantage to actually hiring the person as a 1040'd employee rather than a 1099 contractor even if I can't offer him benefits? I know other body shops (like Robert Half) do this and never understood why.

  • Jquery ui sortable clone helper not working

    - by Jeremy Seekamp
    Maybe I don't understand how clone works with sortable, but here is what I would like to do. When sorting an item I would like a clone of the item I am dragging remain until I stop drop the item in its new position. Here's the code: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.8.2/jquery-ui.min.js"></script> <style type="text/css"> .sort { width: 150px; } .ui-state-highlight { background-color: #000; height:2px; } </style> </head> <body> <div> <ul class="sort"> <li>Item 1</li> <li>Item 2</li> <li>Item 3</li> <li>Item 4</li> </ul> </div> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $('.sort').sortable({ helper: 'clone', placeholder: 'ui-state-highlight', opacity: '.5' }) }) </script> </body> </html> Thanks in advance for the help!

  • Why is Raphael.JS creating paper with dimensions 1000x1000?

    - by Bryan
    I have a demo using raphael.js. The code for it is very simple but when viewed in Internet Explorer (less that version 9) I get a Raphael canvas that is 1000px by 1000px and I can't figure out why. I'm using version 1.5.2 of Raphael. Code below: HTML <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta charset="UTF-8"> <title>Raphael Test</title> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="test.css"> <link href="../shared/img/favicon.png" rel="shortcut icon"> </head> <body> <div id="graph"></div> <script src="../shared/js/raphael/raphael-min.js" type="text/javascript"> </script> <script src="test.js" type="text/javascript"> </script> </body> </html> CSS /* Graph */ #graph { padding: 5px; width: 477px; height: 299; } JS var holder = document.getElementById('graph') , width = holder.scrollWidth , height = Math.round(width * 0.5625) + 25 , p = Raphael(10, 50, width, height) , c = p.circle(p.width - 50, p.height - 50, 50); alert(p.width + ' & ' + p.height); I found a discussion in Raphael's Google group with the same problem but no resolution.

  • search form in html/php via ajax

    - by fusion
    i've a search form wherein the database query has been coded in php and the html file calls this php file via ajax to display the results in the search form. the problem is, i would like the result to be displayed in the same form as search.html; yet while the ajax works, it goes to search.php to display the results. search.html: <!DOCTYPE html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> <script src="scripts/search_ajax.js" type="text/javascript"></script> </head> <body> <form id="submitForm" method="post"> <div class="wrapper"> <div class="field"> <input name="search" id="search" /> </div><br /> <input id="button1" type="submit" value="Submit" class="submit" onclick="run_query();" /><br /> </div> <div id="searchContainer"> </div> </form> </body> </html> if i add action="search.php" to the form tag, it displays the result but on search.php. i'd like it to display on the same form [i.e search.html, and not search.php] if i just add the javascript function [as done above], it displays nothing on search.html

  • Pear Mail + Pear mail-mime URLs corrupted

    - by Nir
    I'm using pear mail and pear mail mime to send UTF8 HTML emails. When I input urls such as //www.site.com.img they appear in the email as http:///www.site.com.img (note the three slashes). Anyone know how to use //www urls with pear-mail/mime ? To duplicate you can use the following code (taken from here) with change <?php require_once 'Mail.php'; require_once 'Mail\mime.php'; $message = new Mail_mime(); $text = 'Hello this is the Plain email'; $html = '<b>Hello</b> <img src="//www.site.com/img.src"/><hr />This is the HTML email.'; $message->setTXTBody($text); $message->setHTMLBody($html); $body = $message->get(); $extraheaders = array('From' => '[email protected]', 'Subject' => 'Subject'); $headers = $message->headers($extraheaders); $mail = Mail::factory('mail'); $mail->send('[email protected]', $headers, $body); ?> You will see the image as http:///www.site.com/img.src

  • Google Maps API DirectionsRendererOptions not working?

    - by YWE
    I am trying to use DirectionsRenderer to display a DirectionsResult without the route list. According to the API version 3 documentation, there is a "hideRouteList" property of the DirectionsRendererOptions object that when set to true should hide the route list. I cannot get it to work. Is this a bug or am I just not coding this correctly? Following is my code. <html> <head> <title>Driving Directions</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://maps.google.com/maps/api/js?sensor=false"> </script> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- function initialize() { var dirService = new google.maps.DirectionsService(); var dirRequest = { origin: "350 5th Ave, New York, NY, 10118", destination: "1 Wall St, New York, NY", travelMode: google.maps.DirectionsTravelMode.DRIVING, unitSystem: google.maps.DirectionsUnitSystem.IMPERIAL, provideTripAlternatives: true }; dirService.route(dirRequest, showDirections); } function showDirections(dirResult, dirStatus) { if (dirStatus != google.maps.DirectionsStatus.OK) { alert('Directions failed: ' + dirStatus); return; } var rendererOptions = { hideRouteList: true }; var dirRenderer = new google.maps.DirectionsRenderer(rendererOptions); dirRenderer.setPanel(document.getElementById('dir-container')); dirRenderer.setDirections(dirResult); } --> </script> </head> <body onLoad="initialize();"> <div id="dir-container"></div> </body> </html>

  • Problem with DOMPDF and Kohana 3

    - by alex
    I have used DOMPDF many times before successfully, however outside of the Kohana Framework. I created a module for DOMPDF and called it simply pdf. Here is it's code. class Pdf { private $domPdfInstance; public function __construct($html) { if ( ! class_exists('DOMPDF', FALSE)) { // Load DOMPDF require Kohana::find_file('vendor', 'dompdf/dompdf_config.inc'); } $this->domPdfInstance = new DOMPDF; $this->domPdfInstance->load_html($html); } public function render() { $this->domPdfInstance->render(); return $this; } public function stream($filename) { if (pathinfo($filename, PATHINFO_EXTENSION) !== 'pdf') { $filename .= '.pdf'; } $this->domPdfInstance->stream($filename); return $this; } } For some reason, any PDF I generate using this results in it being corrupt (not opening under Mac OS X's Preview app at least). I have even tried this basic HTML <html> <head> <title>PDF</title> </head> <body> please work </body> </html> Is this a known problem? I have not touched anything in dompdf_config.inc.php except uncomment out the error reporting levels so they now read error_reporting(E_STRICT | E_ALL); PHP is not reporting any errors. Here is a screenshot of the error from Preview (though I think it's probably unhelpful) Some thing I have thought may be a problem Auto loading conflicts Base path conflicts

  • Multithreaded search with UISearchDisplayController

    - by Kulpreet
    I'm sort of new to any sort of multithreading and simply can't seem to get a simple search method working on a background thread properly. Everything seems to be in order with an NSAutoreleasePool and the UI being updated on the main thread. The app doesn't crash and does perform a search in the background but the search results yield the several of the same items several times depending on how fast I type it in. The search works properly without the multithreading (which is commented out), but is very slow because of the large amounts of data I am working with. Here's the code: - (void)filterContentForSearchText:(NSString*)searchText { NSAutoreleasePool *apool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; isSearching = YES; //[self.filteredListContent removeAllObjects]; // First clear the filtered array. for (Entry *entry in appDelegate.entries) { NSComparisonResult result = [entry.item compare:searchText options:(NSCaseInsensitiveSearch|NSDiacriticInsensitiveSearch) range:NSMakeRange(0, [searchText length])]; if (result == NSOrderedSame) { [self.filteredListContent addObject:entry]; } } isSearching=NO; [self.searchDisplayController.searchResultsTableView performSelectorOnMainThread:(@selector(reloadData)) withObject:nil waitUntilDone:NO]; //[self.searchDisplayController.searchResultsTableView reloadData]; [apool drain]; } - (BOOL)searchDisplayController:(UISearchDisplayController *)controller shouldReloadTableForSearchString:(NSString *)searchString { [NSObject cancelPreviousPerformRequestsWithTarget:self selector:@selector(filteredListContent:) object:searchString]; [self.filteredListContent removeAllObjects]; // First clear the filtered array. [self performSelectorInBackground:(@selector(filterContentForSearchText:)) withObject:searchString]; //[self filterContentForSearchText:searchString]; // Return YES to cause the search result table view to be reloaded. return NO; }

  • Android HttpClient and HTTPS

    - by user309769
    Hi all, I'm new to implementing HTTPS connections in Android. Essentially, I'm trying to connect to a server using the org.apache.http.client.HttpClient. I believe, at some point, I'll need to access the application's keystore in order to authorize my client with a private key. But, for the moment, I'm just trying to connect and see what happens; I keep getting an HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request error. I can't seem to make heads or tails of this despite many examples (none of them seem to work for me). My code looks like this (the BODY constant is XmlRPC): private void connect() throws IOException, URISyntaxException{ HttpPost post = new HttpPost(new URI(PROD_URL)); HttpClient client = new DefaultHttpClient(); post.setEntity(new StringEntity(BODY)); HttpResponse result = client.execute(post); Log.d("MainActivity", result.getStatusLine().toString()); } So, pretty simple. Let me know if anyone out there has any advice. Thanks!

  • javascript: detect if XP or Classic windows theme is enabled

    - by mkoryak
    Is there any way to detect which windows XP theme is in use? I suspect that there is no specific api call you can make, but you may be able to figure it out by checking something on some DOM element, ie feature detection. Another question: does the classic theme even exist on windows vista or windows 7? edit - this is my solution: function isXpTheme() { var rgb; var map = { "rgb(212,208,200)" : false, "rgb(236,233,216)" : true }; var $elem = $("<button>"); $elem.css("backgroundColor", "ButtonFace"); $("body").append($elem); var elem = $elem.get(0); if (document.defaultView && document.defaultView.getComputedStyle) { s = document.defaultView.getComputedStyle(elem, ""); rgb = s && s.getPropertyValue("background-color"); } else if (elem.currentStyle) { rgb = (function (el) { // get a rgb based color on IE var oRG =document.body.createTextRange(); oRG.moveToElementText(el); var iClr=oRG.queryCommandValue("BackColor"); return "rgb("+(iClr & 0xFF)+","+((iClr & 0xFF00)>>8)+","+ ((iClr & 0xFF0000)>>16)+")"; })(elem); } else if (elem.style["backgroundColor"]) { rgb = elem.style["backgroundColor"]; } else { rgb = null; } $elem.remove(); rgb = rgb.replace(/[ ]+/g,"") if(rgb){; return map[rgb]; } } Next step is to figure out what this function returns on non-xp machines and/or figure out how to detect windows boxes. I have tested this in windows XP only, so vista and windows 7 might give different color values, it should be easy to add though. Here is a demo page of this in action: http://programmingdrunk.com/current-projects/isXpTheme/

  • About function scopes in javascript

What I've got so far: First, I'm defining a custom ActivityDesignerTheme as follows: public class CustomActivityTheme : ActivityDesignerTheme { public CustomActivityTheme(WorkflowTheme theme) : base(theme) { this.BackColorStart = Color.FromArgb(0xff, 0xf4, 0xf4, 0xf4); this.BackColorEnd = Color.FromArgb(0xff, 0xc0, 0xc0, 0xc0); this.BackgroundStyle = LinearGradientMode.Horizontal; } } Then, I am applying this theme to a custom ActivityDesigner (apparently the theme must be applied to a designer, and not to an activity): [ActivityDesignerTheme(typeof(CustomActivityTheme))] public class CustomActivityDesigner : SequentialActivityDesigner { ... } Ultimately, I am applying the custom designer to my custom Activity: [Designer(typeof(CustomActivityDesigner))] public partial class CustomActivity : SequenceActivity { ... } Now, according to some code examples that I've seen, this should do the trick. However, when I include an instance of my CustomActivity in a workflow, my custom theme is not applied and it is displayed in the Visual Studio Designer as any standard activity would (white background etc.). I tried re-compiling and even re-starting Visual Studio a couple of times, just to make sure the used assembly is up-to-date, but to no avail. My question: What am I missing? Why does Visual Studio's Workflow Designer not respect the CustomActivityTheme when it displays a CustomActivity?

  • Object.Watch with disabled attribute

    - by Benjamin Fleming
    <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> window.onload = function() { var btn = document.getElementById("button"); var tog = document.getElementById("toggle"); tog.onclick = function() { if(btn.disabled) { btn.disabled = false; } else { btn.disabled = true; } }; //btn.watch("disabled", function(prop, val, newval) { }); }; </script> </head> <body> <input type="button" value="Button" id="button" /> <input type="button" value="Toggle" id="toggle" /> </body> </html> If you test this code, the Toggle button will successfully enable and disable the other button. However, un-commenting the btn.watch() line will somehow always set the disabled tag to true. Any ideas?

  • problem with addressfilter in WCF

    - by Zé Carlos
    I've build my own WCF channel with all necessary stuff (like encoders, bindings, etc) to use it with ServiceHost. I just want to build the "channel stack" making no custumizations at "Service Model". To acomplish this, my encoder returns perfect ServiceModel.Messages with a XML infoset just like other channel does. Lets assume the following service implementation: [ServiceContract(Namespace = "http://MyNS")] public interface IService1 { [OperationContract(IsOneWay = true)] void dummy(); } public class Service1 : IService1 { public void dummy() { Console.WriteLine("In Service1:dummy()"); } } I used this service through other bindings and traced the following ServiceModel.Message contents (SOAP format): <s:Envelope xmlns:s="http://www.w3.org/2003/05/soap-envelope" xmlns:a="http://www.w3.org/2005/08/addressing"> <s:Header> <a:Action s:mustUnderstand="1">http://MyNS/IService1/dummy</a:Action> <a:To s:mustUnderstand="1">amqp://localhost</a:To> </s:Header> <s:Body> <dummy xmlns="http://MyNS"></dummy> </s:Body> </s:Envelope> Then (just to debug) i changed my encoder to allways return this message. When i use my custom channel the WCF's runtime replay with an faul message telling: "The message with To '' cannot be processed at the receiver, due to an AddressFilter mismatch at the EndpointDispatcher. Check that the sender and receiver's EndpointAddresses agree." I read that the default EndPointDispatcher.AddressFilter simply looks to the "TO" header and delivery the message to corresponding service. This is happening with other bindings, why not happens with my custom channel too? Is there any way to i check what default AddressFilter is doing? Thanks

    - by Ammonious
    I'm having a problem getting my viewpager to work correctly. Currently the bottom part of my layout will page across but the remaining part will not Here's my code that I have in my PageAdapter public class MyPageAdapter extends PagerAdapter { public int getCount() { return 31; } public Object instantiateItem(View collection, int position) { LayoutInflater inflater = (LayoutInflater) collection.getContext() .getSystemService(Context.LAYOUT_INFLATER_SERVICE); int resId = 0; switch (position) { case 0: resId = R.layout.main_menu; break; case 1: resId = R.layout.article1; break; case 2: resId = R.layout.article2; break; .... .... View view = inflater.inflate(resId, null); ((ViewPager) collection).addView(view, 0); return view; This is what I have for my XML <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:orientation="vertical" android:background="@drawable/background" android:clickable="true" android:id="@+id/layout13" android:weightSum="0"> <TextView android:id="@+id/textView01" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:gravity="center_vertical|center_horizontal" android:padding="12dp" android:text="@string/article13" android:textAppearance="?android:attr/textAppearanceLarge" android:textColor="#000000" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/textView02" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="302dp" android:gravity="center_vertical|center_horizontal" android:text="@string/body13" android:textAppearance="?android:attr/textAppearanceLarge" android:textColor="#000000" /> <android.support.v4.view.ViewPager android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:id="@id/viewPager" > </android.support.v4.view.ViewPager> </LinearLayout> I've tried Moving the around in my XML layout to right underneath my LinearLayout and i get the full screen but all my text disappears. It's probably something simple i'm missing but any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

  • while loop ignore the event listener

    - by Tamer
    so when i run this code to try to change the background the GUI crashes and gets stuck in a infinite while loop ignoring the event listeners. here is the code: `private Panel getPanel1() { if (panel1 == null) { panel1 = new Panel(); panel1.setLayout(new GridBagLayout()); while(frame.isVisible()){ panel1.addMouseListener(new java.awt.event.MouseAdapter() { public void mouseClicked(java.awt.event.MouseEvent e) { frame.setVisible(false); } }); int r = (int) (Math.random()*255); int g = (int) (Math.random()*255); int b = (int) (Math.random()*255); Color c = new Color(r, g, b); panel1.setBackground(c); try { Thread.sleep(4000); } catch (InterruptedException e1) { e1.printStackTrace(); } panel1.addMouseListener(new java.awt.event.MouseAdapter() { public void mouseClicked(java.awt.event.MouseEvent e) { /*panel1.setVisible(false); frame.setVisible(false);*/ System.exit(0); } }); } } return panel1; }` instead of exiting the loop of terminating the program or event changing the background it just displays the panel and does nothing else and i have to force it to quit. what should i do?
