I am trying to access my home wireless internet and the troubleshooting screen says microsoft virtual wifi miniport adapter has a driver problem. What does this mean??
I have a wireless AP+switch which I configured years ago, before moving, and haven't used for a while. Now I want to reconfigure it for my new network, but have no idea what I set as its IP address(It was probably something 192.168.xx.yy). What is the best way for discovering its IP? A script to spam the whole address space?
Im moving from an all in one to a router + access point. In doing googling and reasearch and talking to friends I ended up with
router - cisco rv016
wifi access point - airnet 1142 lightweight access point. (lap1142n)
In trying to set all this up and reading I think I bought the wrong access point. It seems I need a wireless controller? Can someone confirm that I should not have bought the lightweight one?
Gnome Shell by default uses the Super (Windows) key to display the activities overview. But I'd prefer to use the Super key to invoke Synapse. Right now I have to press Super+Super+Spacebar in order to invoke Synapse which is annoying (Super+Spacebar is the binding to invoke Synapse).
Is there any way to remove the default Gnome Shell mapping? In the keyboard shortcuts system settings, only the Alt+F1 binding appears for the activities overview action.
The Acer Aspire 7738 has a large blue light emitting power button, top left on the keyboard. Its light is rather distracting and I want to turn it off.
How can I disable this light?
I was thinking of setting up a partition on my Vista comp and installing Linux on that partition. I was gonna install Ubuntu on this partition. I was wondering if the equipment I have (i.e. video card, mouse, keyboard, network card) would be potentially unable to work on a linux platform? Any advice on doing this? I havent started yet, just doing my homework.
Thanks alot, any answer is always appreciated
Mouse scrolling doesn't work in tmux the way it works when I run shell without tmux (in Gnome Terminal). It seems tmux sends mouse scroll events as if I pressed Up/Down keys. But I want it to scroll though the shell output history. Is there a way to make tmux work like this?
Note: I know how to scroll with keyboard (thanks to another question here).
Tried mouse scrolling in two versions of tmux:
0.8-5hardy1 (on Ubuntu Hardy)
1.3-1 (on Ubuntu Maverick)
I have the Citrix ICA/receiver client installed on on both my windows an Linux workstations. On my Windows workstation I can use common keyboard shortcuts like CTRL-A, CTRL-C, CTRL-Z etc. On the Linux workstation no CTRL shortcuts work, but ALT shortcuts for menus do. How do I get CTRL to work in the Linux receiver?
I have a place where I want to set up a network connection through a normal residential wall where I can't cut any holes. I don't want to just set up a wireless system. Does anyone make a device that you place on either side of a wall to hook up a connection? Preferably something that can do 100Mb full duplex and can't be eavesdropped on with common hardware?
Ever since I updated my early 2010 MacBook Pro 13" with the 10.6.3 update, the mouse pointer freezes for 5 to 10 seconds, every now and then. The keyboard is next to unresponsive when this happens.
Are there more people having the same problem? Is this a known bug?
Is there a solution?
I'm looking to find a way to sync my calendar on my Blackberry with my google apps calendar without using a wireless data plan by plugging the blackberry into my computer via usb and finding some medium there.

My laptop (Acer travelmate 4152NlCi)doesn't respond to the keyboard and mouse anymore while booting in Windows Xp Pro Sp3. i can't type the password and login. I have Opensuse 11.0 on it as well and it works. So I can boot into Linux and not Windows, not even in safe mode. What would be the troubleshooting steps?
I just replaced my old Logitech mouse with a Microsoft Wireless Laser mouse, and the scrolling is too fast for my liking.
How can I adjust the scroll sensitivity?
I would like to share files between my Win XP Home system and my new Win 7 system. I am using AT&T Uverse with the Uverse wireless router. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks!

I am able to use remote desktop on my Ubuntu server (with gnome desktop installed) when I also have an active session on the desktop. I would like to be able to remote desktop to this server after I just turn on the power (no screen and keyboard to the server), is that possible?
Thanks!
I installed Windows 7 on my laptop; now it cannot connect to the internet on internet explorer, although it indicates that it is connected to my wireless network. Plugging in the ethernet cable doesn't give me a connection either. I am a complete novice and need absolute instructions on how to fix
My laptop screen goes black after about a minute of inactivity.
I've already tried setting the Screen Saver to anything other than Blank and increasing the Wait but it still keeps happening.
Also checked my Power Options, the plan I currently have is set to turn the screen off only after an hour.
If I move the mouse or press any key on the keyboard the screen wakes up.
Any other ideas why this is happening and how to fix it?
I know of whoami.exe. Is there a version called whereami.exe
The output should be able to tell me if I am on a LAN, wireless or VPN.
the machines would be running Windows Xp or better.
I wanted to install a new driver for my Wireless Network Card but Windows 7 reported the driver was up to date. So I decided to uninstall the driver. That seemed to do more than I expected...
My WiFi card no longer shows up on the computer. Nothing in Device Manager. I have no idea how to get it back.
How can I get Windows to find the device? :/

Shift+Right (should select the character on the right)
Shift+Home (should select all the characters on the left)
Shift+End (should select all the characters on the right)

My network utilization in windows never seems to get above 1%.
This seems absolutely tiny, does anyone know why it is so low and if there is anyway to increase it(or if it indeed does need increased)
FYI: I use a D-LINK USB wireless adaptor
