  I have my msn email account setup with a bunch of folders to put all my different emails in. I don't use rules, just drag and drop sort. On my current computer, I have it go to outlook, and all the folders pop up fine. But I set that up 4 years ago, and now I'm setting up a new laptop and have no idea how to get it going again.   I have XPS9100 DELL desktop computer awakes out of the sleep mode without me prompting it. I have 64 bit OS Before I go to sleep I put that in sleep mode but in the morning I see its awake and I try every setting possible but could not help I have tried this command and here is what I got and I am not sure what to do.   I am on windows xp sp3 and I am trying to convert a file from ASCII to UTF-8. I use notepad++ to do this. I go to Encoding Convert to UTF-8 without BOM. I save the file, reopen and it is still on ASCII. I am using this file in a webpage and I need the file to be UTF-8, because I have strings in utf-8 and they am seeing little squares with ? on them.

  I have a laptop with an 80GB SSD and 500GB HDD. I currently have Windows installed on the SSD, and a 400GB data partition for Windows on the HDD. I set aside 100GB on the HDD to try out Ubuntu, and I'd like to make it my primary OS and switch it over to the (much) faster SSD. How could I go about getting my Ubuntu setup moved over to the SSD? I have a 120GB USB hard drive I can use if necessary for getting through it.

• traffic shaping with "netem delay" works ok, but limits upload bandwidth to 330KB/s. Why?

  I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 and the kernel 2.6 build-in NETEM tool to delay traffic. After I apply: tc qdisc add dev eth0 root netem delay 100ms The upload bandwidth can't go further than 330KB/s and I have a 100Mbit connection. How can I fix this so that my upload bandwidth is still full. Thanks!

  My question is very basic in nature. Is the mount point for external media (like USB) always /media? Because in a Debian system, if I plug in any USB device that goes to the /media folder. • Navicat 8/9 crashes my Debian/Linux

  I run Debian 5 + Gnome and it seems that after I made certain updates with aptitude, whenever I run a query in Navicat ( sql program that runs on WINE ), as the results are being presented linux goes into the command line and the GUI dies and it restarts and it asks me to login again ( all my programs crash ). Has anyone experienced this before? Or does anyone have a clue as to how I could go about debugging this? I suspect it's some issue with Gnome and WINE, but I'm not sure.

• How to reliably keep an SSH tunnel open?

  I use an SSH tunnel from work to go around various idotic firewalls (it's ok with my boss :)). The problem is, after a while the ssh connection usually hangs, and the tunnel is broken. If I could at least monitor the tunnel automatically, I could restart the tunnel when it hangs, but I haven't even figured a way of doing that. Bonus points for the one who can tell me how to prevent my ssh connection from hanging, of course!

• Excel 2007 - "The Document Information Panel was unable to load"

  In Excel 2007, if I go to Office button - Prepare - Properties instead of showing document properties, I get a message "The Document Information Panel was unable to load." I have come across a number of posts suggesting I copy ipedintl.dll from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Web Designer Tools\Office12\1033 to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\1033, however I have tried this, and the problem is still occurring. Does anyone have any other ideas of what this might be? Thanks.

  I very often use subtitles on my mkv player to watch movies. I have frequently observed that there is sometime a lag between the subtitles and the actual video. Even after setting the subtitle offset one would have to go on increasing it as the movie proceeds. This is something i find extremely annoying and would like to know if there is any way when one can check if a subtitle file is the ideal one for a given video.

• Mouse and touchpad move at different speeds

  I have a compaq 610 running windows 7, and I use a USB mouse on it. The pointer speed is different for the mouse and the touchpad, so when I go to a meeting and take the notebook but not the mouse, the pointer moves too slow using the touchpad and I have to manually adjust it (of course when I return, I have to slow it down because the mouse would move the pointer too fast). Is there any way to fix this, or to have this setting separate for both devices?
