Is there a way to show all tray icons in the Windows Task Bar of Windows XP, permanently?
I don't like to go over tray icons and extend them each time I need to see a specific icon.
My son received a DVD with some AVI files of his soccer game. (I think they're from a Sharp camcorder, but I'm not 100% sure of that).
How can I convert them to a format that he can view on his ipod touch?
I have a Mac, Linux and Windows machines available, so any platform-specific recommendations are welcome.
I've looked into mobile 3G, but the download limits seem to be very low; the best I've seen is 10GB (from Orange). Ideally, I could go for something like ADSL, but the problem is that I'd need BT land-line, and isn't the minimum contract 12 months? Are there any other options I haven't considered? Please answer specific to the UK (United Kingdom).
I need to send email from my asp.net application. For that I am using telnet tk2smtp.msn.com 25 command from the command prompt to connect to the specific port on tk2smtp but its showing Could not open connection to the host error in command prompt. That I know:
In command line, use TAB to autocomplete the commands.
You need just to select a text to copy it, and use mouse middle button to paste.
Which other "untold" secrets Ubuntu hides?
obs. I don't know which of the items I told are for any Linux or Ubuntu specific.
I am not sure. I want to have Windows 3.1 so I can use specific Win3.1 apps but I no longer have the floppy drive so I can't install it. Is there a way to legally install Win 3.1 with IMG? I don't think MS supports Win3.1 at all.
I purchased this Logitech bluetooth keyboard which, according to the specifications on the page, can switch between both Android and Windows 8 devices. I haven't figured out how to do this. Is a specific type of bluetooth USB adapter required? And even assuming I had the necessary USB adapter, what commands must be executed (on the keyboard, Android, or Windows 8 machines) for the bluetooth keyboard to switch between devices?
There are hundreds of motherboards out there and it's very hard to find a motherboard which fits specific requirements. Is there a website which offers an interactive decision making process to select a motherboard? Say you select a few options from a number of dropdowns and it lists a number of motherboards from different manufacturers which meet the selections.
Hi guys,

I have set up a mercurial repo to be served using apache+wsgi+hgweb on OS X.
It is now completely open to anyone who stumbles upon my server on the correct port number..
How can I set it up so that only people with a username+password pair that I approve can pull and/or push from the repo?
I know how to very easily achieve this using ssh, but in this specific case the requirement is that the solution doesn't require defining full fledged user accounts on the machine for each person whom I'd like to give access to the repo.
I am developing a script which should run under 64 and 32Bit Powershell. Unfortunately it seems that Test-Path return different results in 64 and 32 Environment. Both sessions are running under same user, this user has full access on specific registry key.
64Bit Powershell
>test-path HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Citrix\ProvisioningServices
True
32Bit Powershell(x86)
>test-path HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Citrix\ProvisioningServices
False
Any Idea?
I have bought an acer aspire one which has the intel atom processor running linux and am having difficulty getting a 3G USB modem (huwaei e220) working with it. I have spent a significant amount of time trying to get this working but as the modem is not supported on Linux I have now decided to give in and install xp.
Is there a specific version of xp that I need for this processor? or can I install the standard x86 version
I have a Server running Ubuntu 10.10 Server-Edition kvm, and libvirt (both ubuntu-native packages)
HDD-Partitioning was done with LVM. Then I created some VMs with Virt-Manager and assigned LVM-Volumes to the VMs.
Now the VMs do not boot. Virt-Manager shows a CPU-Usage of 100% for this Guest and the VNC-Connection states
Booting from Hard Disk
The VM-specific logfiles do not show any abnormality only syslog shows a warning
warning : qemudParsePCIDeviceStrs:1422 : Unexpected exit status '1', qemu probably failed
What can I do to find the error?
I have a small website that crashes once or twice a week.
I have spoken to both the websites original designers, who has now retired and its host and both blame the other.
The website can be recovered by simply renaming a .dll file on the server which effectively reboots the website/application.
Is there a script or something that can be set to automatically rename a file at specific intervals?
I am using Opensuse 12.3
What I wanna do is, create a link on my desktop for some specific terminal commandos.
The backround is, that I do some backup via rsync and don`t wanna type the commandos everytime new. I also dont wanna use a cronjob, since my computer isnt running everytime.
Perfect would be some desktop icons, which on clicking execute the command(s).
Could somebody tell me how to do this?
just reading the bbc report on how millions of floppy disks are purchased each month in the UK: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/8646699.stm
Does anyone still use floppies?
Is this a legit distribution media for software?
Are there specific uses for the little plastic disks?
Seems to happen when I log off or on, and during some OS reconfigurations. Any idea how to stay in Exclusive mode? I use the exclusive mode as a (very low) security measure to keep guests on a specific VM without their knowledge. Won't help if the Workstation randomly appears.
I'm looking for a Linux pam module that accepts any password for connections from a specific IP. I don't want to disable passwords completely.
I need it for migration from one imap server to another (cyrus to zimbra) without knowing every password. I used such a module some six years ago. That was for imap migration too. Unfortunately I cannot recall the name of the module and can't find it by other means either.
Any pointers?
I have been looking at graphics cards, and I notice that some of them feature 'Multi View', only I cannot find a definition of what it is?
What is Multi-view and what is it used for? It is a vendor-specific feature (such as SLI)?
Hi everyone,
Are there any way known to trick an computer with XP to appear to have more RAM?
I need to install a specific program (which fits in my system requirements), which is bundled with a number of other programs on an DVD.
Unfortunately, the other programs besides the one that I need demand twice the amount of RAM that's available on my computer and the installation is closed due to this. Can I trick my XP computer into have more RAM temporarily to bypass the block in the install executable?
Thanks
I am configuring a router to redirect TCP port 5900 (yes, this is for VNC) to a specific IP address on the network. Here is what I have:
From a local computer on the same network, I can telnet to 192.168.1.64 (port 5900) just fine. However, when trying to telnet to the machine (port 5900) using its external IP address, it doesn't work. (The connection times out.)
The router is a Gigaset SE567, if that helps.
We are setting up a new database system and have 15 drives to play with (+2 on-board for the OS).
With a total of 15 drives would it be better to setup all 14 as one RAID-10 block (+1 hot spare) OR split into two RAID-10 sets one for Data (8 disks) and one for logs/backups (6 disks).
My question boils down to the following: is there a specific point where having more drives in a RAID-10 setup will out preform having the drives broken into smaller RAID-10 sets.
I have a Windows 2003 server running a SSH server (WRQ Reflection), how would I ssh to it and specify a specific drive letter? (like the D: drive)
ex: from another workstation: ssh [email protected] d:
When I do that it fails and I get this error: "exec request failed on channel 0" If I simply SSH to that same windowsbox without trying to specify a drive letter I get a Windows (CMD.EXE) command prompt shell on the C: drive. I can then run any windows command.
Thanks
