  • MySQL Search Query on two different fields

    - by user181677
    I need to search on two fields using LIKE function and should match also in reverse order. My table uses InnoDB which dont have Full text search. For example, I have users table with first_name and last_name column. I tried this SQL statement but no luck. SELECT CONCAT(first_name, ' ', last_name) as fullname FROM users WHERE fullname LIKE '%doe%';

  • Entity Framework + stored procedure with paging

    - by Eatdoku
    I am using Entity Framework now and using a stored procedure to populate my entity. Where there is no problem with populating my entity, but when i trying to bind the result to a gridview control with "Enable Paging" set to true, it gives an error saying "The data source does not support server-side data paging." I am using stored procedure because one of the table column is FullTextIndexed, and there is a requirement to be able to search on that field. Can anyone tell me how the paging would work in this situation?

  • How can I find the columns of a disabled index constraint?

    - by thecoop
    For a normal index constraint, you can find the columns it is on by querying the all_ind_columns sysview using the index name in all_constraints. But if the constraint is disabled, no index exists, and there doesn't seem to be anywhere else that has constraint column information. How can I get the columns of a disabled index constraint from the data dictionary (without re-enabling the constraint)?

  • What's wrong with this SQL query?

    - by ThinkingInBits
    I have two tables: photographs, and photograph_tags. Photograph_tags contains a column called photograph_id (id in photographs). You can have many tags for one photograph. I have a photograph row related to three tags: boy, stream, and water. However, running the following query returns 0 rows SELECT p.* FROM photographs p, photograph_tags c WHERE c.photograph_id = p.id AND (c.value IN ('dog', 'water', 'stream')) GROUP BY p.id HAVING COUNT( p.id )=3 Is something wrong with this query?

  • PostgreSQL: Why does this simple query not use the index?

    - by David
    I have a table t with a column c, which is an int and has a btree index on it. Why does the following query not utilize this index? explain select c from t group by c; The result I get is: HashAggregate (cost=1005817.55..1005817.71 rows=16 width=4) -> Seq Scan on t (cost=0.00..946059.84 rows=23903084 width=4) My understanding of indexes is limited, but I thought such queries were the purpose of indexes.

  • Selecting rows without a value for Date/Time columns

    - by Ross
    I'm running this query: SELECT TOP 1 [DVD Copy].[Stock No] FROM [DVD Copy] WHERE [DVD Copy].[Catalogue No] =[Forms]![New Rental]![Catalogue No] And [Issue Date] = Null; Which works fine without the null check for Issue Date. I'm trying to select rows without a Date in the Issue Date column. Is Null the wrong kind of value to use for here?

  • CodePage ID to CodaPage name: GetEncoding equivalent in Delphi?

    - by Steve
    Hello all, I'm looking for a Win32 equivalent of the .Net Encoding.GetEncoding Method to be used in Delphi7. What I would like to achieve is to convert a Codepage ID (ie.: 28592) to a Codapage name (iso-8859-2 in this case). I've found a Win32 function called GetCPInfoEx, but that returns a long CodePage name, and I need the short one, like the ones listed on this page: (see Name column) http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.text.encoding.aspx Thank you!

  • set/unset checkboxes in JSF

    - by mykola
    Hello, i've got one problem with checkboxes in JSF. I want them to behave dependently on each other, e.g., when i check a box which belongs to some object that has children then all checkboxes that belong to these children components must be checked either. And also when i uncheck one of child's checkbox the parent should be unchecked too. It's pretty simple with plain HTML/javascript, but i can't do anything with this under JSF. For some reason i can't set ID's for them because all checkboxes are rendered dynamically in a treetable and it prevents me from setting my own ID's, i.e. whatever i set in ID property only constant part will apply, all dynamic data that i pass is ignored. I tried to do it through valueChangeListener or validator but in both cases after i set needed values something sets them back! I don't know who does it and i can't do anything with this. Here's some code (i use OpenFaces treeTable): <o:treeTable id="instTreeTable" var="inst" ...> <...> <o:column id="isGranted" width="10%"> <f:facet name="header"> <h:outputText value="#{msg.access_granted}" /> </f:facet> <h:selectBooleanCheckbox value="#{inst.assignedToUser}" styleClass="treeTableText" valueChangeListener="#{MbUserInstitutions.onAccessGrantedChanged}" > <a4j:support event="onchange" reRender="instTreeTable"/> </h:selectBooleanCheckbox> </o:column> <...> </o:treeTable> MbUserInstitutions: public void onAccessGrantedChanged(ValueChangeEvent event) { Boolean granted = (Boolean) event.getNewValue(); Institution inst = getInstitution(); if (granted.booleanValue() && inst.hasChildren()) { setChildrenInsts(inst); } else if (!granted.booleanValue() && inst.getParentId() != null){ unsetParentInst(inst); } } private Institution getInstitution() { return (Institution) Faces.var("inst"); } private void setChildrenInsts(Institution parent) { for (Institution child: parent.getChildren()) { child.setAssignedToUser(true); if (child.hasChildren()) { setChildrenInsts(child); } } } private void unsetParentInst(Institution child) { child.setAssignedToUser(false); for (Institution inst: coreInsts) { if (inst.getId().equals(child.getParentId())) { unsetParentInst(inst); break; } } }

  • Procedure in converting int to decimal data type?

    - by Fedor
    I have an int(11) column which is used to store money. I read some of the answers on SO and it seems I just need to update it to be a decimal (19,4) data type. Are there any gotchas I should know about before I actually do the converting? My application is in PHP/Zend and I'm not using an ORM so I doubt I would need to update any sort of class to consistently identify the data type.

  • Recalculate Counter Cache of 120k Records [Rails / ActiveRecord]

    - by Sebastian
    The following situation: I have a poi model, which has many pictures (1:n). I want to recalculate the counter_cache column, because the values are inconsistent. I've tried to iterate within ruby over each record, but this takes much too long and quits sometimes with some "segmentation fault" bugs. So i wonder, if its possible to do this with a raw sql query?

  • Hibernate3: Self-Referencing Objects

    - by monojohnny
    Need some help on understanding how to do this; I'm going to be running recursive 'find' on a file system and I want to keep the information in a single DB table - with a self-referencing hierarchial structure: This is my DB Table structure I want to populate. DirObject Table: id int NOT NULL, name varchar(255) NOT NULL, parentid int NOT NULL); Here is the proposed Java Class I want to map (Fields only shown): public DirObject { int id; String name; DirObject parent; ... For the 'root' directory was going to use parentid=0; real ids will start at 1, and ideally I want hibernate to autogenerate the ids. Can somebody provide a suggested mapping file for this please; as a secondary question I thought about doing the Java Class like this instead: public DirObject { int id; String name; List<DirObject> subdirs; Could I use the same data model for either of these two methods ? (With a different mapping file of course). --- UPDATE: so I tried the mapping file suggested below (thanks!), repeated here for reference: <hibernate-mapping> <class name="my.proj.DirObject" table="category"> ... <set name="subDirs" lazy="true" inverse="true"> <key column="parentId"/> <one-to-many class="my.proj.DirObject"/> </set> <many-to-one name="parent" class="my.proj.DirObject" column="parentId" cascade="all" /> </class> ...and altered my Java class to have BOTH 'parentid' and 'getSubDirs' [returning a 'HashSet']. This appears to work - thanks, but this is the test code I used to drive this - I think I'm not doing something right here, because I thought Hibernate would take care of saving the subordinate objects in the Set without me having to do this explicitly ? DirObject dirobject=new DirObject(); dirobject.setName("/files"); dirobject.setParent(dirobject); DirObject d1, d2; d1=new DirObject(); d1.setName("subdir1"); d1.setParent(dirobject); d2=new DirObject(); d2.setName("subdir2"); d2.setParent(dirobject); HashSet<DirObject> subdirs=new HashSet<DirObject>(); subdirs.add(d1); subdirs.add(d2); dirobject.setSubdirs(subdirs); session.save(dirobject); session.save(d1); session.save(d2);

  • Dummies guide to locking in innodb

    - by ming yeow
    The typical documentation on locking in innodb is way too confusing. I think it will be of great value to have a "dummies guide to innodb locking" I will start, and I will gather all responses as a wiki: The column needs to be indexed before row level locking applies. EXAMPLE: delete row where column1=10; will lock up the table unless column1 is indexed

  • MySQL forgot about automatically creating an index for a foreign key?

    - by bobo
    After running the following SQL statements, you will see that, MySQL has automatically created the non-unique index question_tag_tag_id_tag_id on the tag_id column for me after the first ALTER TABLE statement has run. But after the second ALTER TABLE statement has run, I think MySQL should also automatically create another non-unique index question_tag_question_id_question_id on the question_id column for me. But as you can see from the SHOW INDEXES statement output, it's not there. Why does MySQL forget about the second ALTER TABLE statement? By the way, since I have already created a unique index question_id_tag_id_idx used by both question_id and tag_id columns. Is creating a separate index for each of them redundant? mysql> DROP DATABASE mydatabase; Query OK, 1 row affected (0.00 sec) mysql> CREATE DATABASE mydatabase; Query OK, 1 row affected (0.00 sec) mysql> USE mydatabase; Database changed mysql> CREATE TABLE question (id BIGINT AUTO_INCREMENT, html TEXT, PRIMARY KEY(id)) ENGINE = INNODB; Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.05 sec) mysql> CREATE TABLE tag (id BIGINT AUTO_INCREMENT, name VARCHAR(10) NOT NULL, UNIQUE INDEX name_idx (name), PRIMARY KEY(id)) ENGINE = INNODB; Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.05 sec) mysql> CREATE TABLE question_tag (question_id BIGINT, tag_id BIGINT, UNIQUE INDEX question_id_tag_id_idx (question_id, tag_id), PRIMARY KEY(question_id, tag_id)) ENGINE = INNODB; Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec) mysql> ALTER TABLE question_tag ADD CONSTRAINT question_tag_tag_id_tag_id FOREIGN KEY (tag_id) REFERENCES tag(id); Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.10 sec) Records: 0 Duplicates: 0 Warnings: 0 mysql> ALTER TABLE question_tag ADD CONSTRAINT question_tag_question_id_question_id FOREIGN KEY (question_id) REFERENCES question(id); Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.13 sec) Records: 0 Duplicates: 0 Warnings: 0 mysql> SHOW INDEXES FROM question_tag; +--------------+------------+----------------------------+--------------+-------------+-----------+-------------+----------+--------+------+------------+---------+ | Table | Non_unique | Key_name | Seq_in_index | Column_name | Collation | Cardinality | Sub_part | Packed | Null | Index_type | Comment | +--------------+------------+----------------------------+--------------+-------------+-----------+-------------+----------+--------+------+------------+---------+ | question_tag | 0 | PRIMARY | 1 | question_id | A | 0 | NULL | NULL | | BTREE | | | question_tag | 0 | PRIMARY | 2 | tag_id | A | 0 | NULL | NULL | | BTREE | | | question_tag | 0 | question_id_tag_id_idx | 1 | question_id | A | 0 | NULL | NULL | | BTREE | | | question_tag | 0 | question_id_tag_id_idx | 2 | tag_id | A | 0 | NULL | NULL | | BTREE | | | question_tag | 1 | question_tag_tag_id_tag_id | 1 | tag_id | A | 0 | NULL | NULL | | BTREE | | +--------------+------------+----------------------------+--------------+-------------+-----------+-------------+----------+--------+------+------------+---------+ 5 rows in set (0.01 sec) mysql>
