  • Object inside of array -- works in one scope but not in another?

    - by Earlz
Ok I've been learning some of the more advanced aspects of Javascript and now trying to use this I'm stuck. Here is my code: function Data(){} function init(state){ var item; item=new Data(); item.fieldrid=17; item.description='foo'; state.push(item); }; function findInState(state, fieldrid) { for (var item in state) { alert(item.fieldrid); //prints undefined if (item.fieldrid == fieldrid) { return item; } } return null; } var s=[]; init(s); alert(s[0].fieldrid); //prints 17 (expected) alert(findInState(s,17).fieldrid); //exception here. function returns null. A running example is here at jsbin Why does this not work? I would expect the alert in findInState to yield 17 but instead it yields undefined. What am I doing wrong?

  • jQuery select by two name roots and perform one of two function depending on which root was selected

    - by RetroCoder
    I'm trying to get this code to work in jQuery and I'm trying to make sure that for each iteration of each root element, its alternate root element for that same iteration doesn't contain anything. Otherwise it sets the .val("") property to an empty string. Looking for a simple solution if possible using search, find, or swap. Each matching number is on the same row level and the same iteration count. I have two input types of input text elements with two different root names like so: 1st Root is "rootA" <input type="text" name="rootA1" /> <input type="text" name="rootA2 /> <input type="text" name="rootA3" /> 2nd Root is "rootB" <input type="text" name="rootB1" /> <input type="text" name="rootB2 /> <input type="text" name="rootB3" /> On blur if any of rootA is called call function fnRootA();. On blur if any of rootB is called call function fnRootB();. Again, I'm trying to make sure that for each iteration like 1 that the alternate root doesn't contain anything, else it sets the .val("") property to an empty string of the root being blurred. My current code works for a single element but wanted to use find or search but not sure how to construct it.. $("input[name='rootA1']").blur(function(e) { fnRootA(1); // this code just removes rootA1's value val("") //if rootB1 has something in it value property // the (1) in parenthesis is the iteration number });

  • Why does one column seem to load first in Wordpress?

    - by Cynthia
I have a Wordpress site that is doing something very bizarre. If you go to: http://digitaldemo.net/joy/krippen-a-b-c/ When it loads, the main content div loads on the right hand side of the page and then once the sidebar loads, THEN it gets pushed over to where it ought to be. It's only really noticable in Firefox, but I'd like to find out what is causing it and fix the issue. Any ideas? Many thanks!

  • I've got to update a column in one SQL table with a counter stored in another table, and update that

    - by Bucket
I'm using SQL server 2005 (for testing) & 2007 (for production). I have to add a unique record ID to all the records in my table, in an existing column, using a "last record ID" column from another table. So, I'm going to do some sort of UPDATE of my table, but I have to get the "last record ID" from the other table, increment it, update THAT table and then update my record. Can anyone give me an example of how to do this? Other users may be incrementing the counter also.

  • Makefile - How to save the .o one directory up?

    - by nunos
Imagine the following folder structure: project src code.c makefile bin How can I compile code.c to code.o and directly put it inside bin? I know I could compile it to code.o under src and the do "mv code.o ../bin" but that would yield an error if there were compile errors, right? Even if it works that way, is there a better way to do it? Thanks.

  • in c# ,one array of class and two connected instance of it why ?

    - by Al0NE
Hi I wrote the code below : 1. MyClass[] origArr=new MyClass[3]; 2. MyClass[] arr1; 3. // filled the array with objects and did some work on it . 4. dgv_1.DataSource=origArr; 5. 6. // Here is the problem : 7. arr1=origArr; 8. // do some work on arr1 ... 9. dgv_2.DataSource=arr1; For some reason the data in 'origArr' changed when data in 'arr1' change ... I thought that maybe this happened because 'origArr' and 'arr1' are pointers referring to the same object so I changed line '7' to : 7. origArr.CopyTo(arr1,0); but it didn't work ... what can i do to make the pointers referring to different objects?

  • How to send message from one dialog to another?

    - by zim22
Hi! I was given a task. First dialog based application has 4 buttons (up, down, left, right). Second dialog based application has two controls (e.g. text area, button). When on the first dialog I click "left" button - controls on the second dialog must move to the left. But unfortunately I don't know Win32 API at all. How can I implement it? What kind of Win32 API mechanism should I be using? Thanks.

  • How does one go about writing a virtual MIDI interface?

    - by Alex
I want to do some funky things with controlling MIDI streams, and I'd like to be able to pipe MIDI input into an application like Ableton or Reason. Presumably this involves some sort of driver level work? Ultimately I'd like to write my application in Python, so if there is some Python-based solution, I'd consider it. I'm perfectly fine with using C/C++, though, so that's not a problem.

  • Can one class generate a signal and handled by another class?

    - by rashid
Hello, I have a buffer in class 'bufferClass' that will generate a signal to tell 'fileClass' that buffer is full and now write data to file? And when 'fileClass' is done writing to file, it will generate a signal to tell 'guiClass' that data can be read from file. Is this possible? I have been reading http://www.gnu.org/s/libc/manual/html_node/Signal-Handling.html but not too sure how to generate such a signal? I don't need the exact code, just an idea. Much appreciated. i am using mac os X, x-code.

  • How to migrate a codebase from one svn repo to another preserving history?

    - by chotchki
I have a branch in a badly structured svn repo that needs to be stripped out and moved to another svn repository. (I'm trying to clean it up some). If I do an 'svn log' and not stop on copy/rename I can see all 3427 commits that I care about. Is there some way to dump the revisions out, short of writing some major scripts? I would follow the advice in this question but this branch has been moved all over the place and I would like to preserve the moves as well. Any ideas?

  • How does one record audio from a Javascript based webapp?

    - by username
I'm trying to write a web-app that records WAV files (eg: from the user's microphone). I know Javascript alone can not do this, but I'm interested in the least proprietary method to augment my Javascript with. My targeted browsers are Firefox for PC and Mac (so no ActiveX). Please share your experiences with this. I gather it can be done with Flash (but not as a WAV formated file). I gather it can be done with Java (but not without code-signing). Are these the only options? @dominic-mazzoni I'd like to record the file as a WAV because because the purpose of the webapp will be to assemble a library of good quality short soundbites. I estimate upload will be 50 MB, which is well worth it for the quality. The app will only be used on our intranet. UPDATE: There's now an alternate solution thanks to JetPack's upcoming Audio API: See https://wiki.mozilla.org/Labs/Jetpack/JEP/18

  • How can I use git to stage only one line in a file for commit, all from a script?

    - by Sandy
I'm writing a simple pre-commit git hook that updates the year in copyright headers for files that are staged for commit. After modifying the line with the copyright, I would like the hook to stage that line so that it is part of the commit. It can't just git add the whole file, because there may be other pre-existing changes in there that shouldn't be staged. I don't see any options in the git add manual the let you stage specific lines. I figure I could git stash save --keep-index, apply my change, git add the file, and then git stash pop, but that seems rather crude. Any better approaches?

  • JQuery Tabs; Google Map is shown with just one tile

    - by java_dude
Yes this problem is common and I have seen numerous solution on this site but none of them were helpful. I know that re-sizing will fix the problem. Not a jQuery expert and I don't know how to re-size the map after the page has been loaded and Headline 3 is active. I have created a JFiddle example. Any help is appreciated. http://jsfiddle.net/KhwZS/1300/ Thanks Ignore the top comment and the links provided by @Dr.Molle as these links do not provide the solution that I have been looking for, check out the solution I have accepted.

  • Multiple returns: Which one sets the final return value?

    - by DR
Given this code: String test() { try { return "1"; } finally { return "2"; } } Do the language specifications define the return value of a call to test()? In other words: Is it always the same in every JVM? In the Sun JVM the return value is 2, but I want to be sure, that this is not VM-dependant.

  • How can one change the primary key using NHibernate.

    - by mark
Dear ladies and sirs. I want to change the primary key of an entity in database, so that all the relevant foreign key constraints are updated as well./We are using NHibenate as our ORM. Is it possible to do it? Thanks. P.S. I know the practice of changing the primary key is highly discouraged. My problem is that my primary key is backed by a natural Id of the entity, which may sometimes change. We could, theoretically, utilize a unique primary key, unrelated to the natural key of the entity, but this complicates things too much in other places, so this is not an option.
