The wire says PCI-Express on one end. Here is what the cable looks like:
Can anyone tell me what this cable is called, and what it is used for (e.g., video card, optical drive, etc)?
The thing is that flash sucks for linux on 64-bit, performance vice. Due to this I actually download every clip to a temp folder and play the file while it's being downloaded with mplayer. This works really nice. Flash is not to play a video. Does there exist a plugin for this for any browser? I tried google, but I can't find the right words to search for.

I think #1 is faster, but wanted feedback from other folks here.
Which is faster and why?
Thanks!
I use a USB headset during the day, then at night I use my speakers to watch video. I constantly have to use the windows playback list to change the default soundcard before I run the program I want.
I did some google research but it doesn't seem to help much, mostly because of false positives. I tried to use "Sound Card Manager" but it didn't seem to work properly.
Has anyone had any sucess dealing with the Vista sound system?

It should be available for Windows, Linux, and Mac (Mac in lower priority, Linux or Windows will work)
It should have mic input facility to record external sound as well as machine's sound.
It should have highlighting functionality (lower in priority)
Hello,
I have latest Ubuntu installed, with firefox 3.6.3.
I have flashplugin-installer and ubuntu-restricted-extras installed.
No other package concerning flash (gnash, swf) is installed.
I can play videos on youtube or some other sites, some even some videos on yahoo, but I cannot play this video (and some others) - the blue circle in the center (like loading...) keeps flashing forever.
Why can't I play it, and how to make it play?

Where can I get MICROSOFT WINDOWS PEER - TO - PEER NETWORKING speed characteristics?
I need to know if and what speed advantages you get with it over net.tcp and other ws-* bindings and if it is faster than flash 10.1 p2p and classic bittorrent p2p?
Is it good for live video broadcasting?
Has any one seen any reserches on this field?

I have vinyl record rip in 24/96 flac format. Each track is almost 200 MB big, so the album won't fit on CD.
How to burn these files on a DVD to play with the same quality on standalone DVD player?
My player supports SACD, DVD Audio and DVD video as well. My OS is Ubuntu Lucid (preferred), but I have also WinXp with Nero installed.
BTW, is there any difference between DVD+ and DVD- for audio?
I'm trying to find out if the Intel G41 Chipset, especially the integrated Intel GMA 4500 video chipset is supported out of the box by Debian lenny.
If it doesn't work OOTB any additional information on how to get it working would be appreciated!
I have a DVB-T capture card and would like to capture the packets from the MPEG stream it receives so i can analyse them just for a bit of fun and learning
I've googled and found a lot of converters and software to capture the video from these streams but very little in the area of capturing raw data from a stream.
What software exists that can capture and dump the MPEG stream from a tuner?
I have this weird issue. When I put the computer to sleep by pressing the power button, or using the sleep option in Charms, I can wake it up normally. However, if I close the lid, and later reopen it, all the fans come on, but nothing appears on the screen.
I didn't have this issue using Windows 7.
Here are my system specs:

Intel Pentium Dual Core T4200 at 2.00Ghz

Windows 8 Pro 64 bit
Is there a command to power down the display in Windows XP? That is, a command that causes the video card to stop sending a signal to the monitor until input is received, much as power management does after a time.
My Skype crashes randomly after and during voice and video calls.
This is a screen grab of the error. I tried googling this error but really didn't find any solution. Anyone knows how to solve this. I can still use Skype, but I can't use any extra's and the random crashes during the calls are very unnerving.
Any permanent solutions for this error?
My operating system is Windows 7 and I'm using Skype 4.2
I am interested in simultaneously connecting two Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP 24-inch Widescreen Flat Panels to my Microsoft Surface Pro. Currently I am attempting to utilize a StarTech Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort / DVI / HDMI Multifunction Adapter by connecting one monitor to the adapter via HDMI and the other via DisplayPort. Unfortunately, I am only getting video on the Surface itself and the monitor connected via DisplayPort.
Is this StarTech adapter capable of simultaneously driving two monitors? Is the Surface itself even capable of driving two monitors?
I have plugged in GSnap. Has anyone managed to get the "tune" effect shown in this video?

Anyone with a higher reputation, pl tag this as "audacity" and "auto-tune"
I'm running some lengthy video encodes using the Handbrake command line interface. After all my encodes are done, I would like to have the PC speaker beep, as I usually turn my large external speakers off.
On Linux I would install the "beep" package, but so far I haven't found such a program for Windows 7.

I like the looks of Belle Nuit Subtitler, even though the price is a bit high.
Does anyone know any other program like it that can add subtitles to a video stream while watching the stream itself?
I want this to translate DVD's, in case that matters.
I'm willing to purchase it if the program can deliver what i need but would like to see alternatives to Belle Nuit.
I just upgraded my new desktop which came installed with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit with a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and so far I have not noticed any difference in performance. Even my Windows Experience Index number is the same 5.5 that it was before the upgrade.
So what's the point, are there any performance advantages that I'm not seeing?

My system hardware specs:

ATI Radeon HD 4650 w/ 1GB dedicated video memory
I'm using Windows Media Player 12 on Windows 7. When I open a video file then it by default only shows the current position (time). If I click on it once then it changes to format Current Time / Total Time
Is there any way to make this format permanent (registry hack/some setting I have not noticed)? Right now every time I close WMP and open another file it's back to the default (only current time) setting.
I need to create a multi-monitor setup for my desktop computer but I have no additional monitors with me right now, aside from my laptop. Is it possible to use my laptop screen as an external monitor?
Note that I am not trying to connect a monitor to my laptop, rather, I am trying to connect my laptop screen to a desktop video card (if this is possible).
Is there some simple software, that can only take pictures (or take pictures and shoot video) from webcam?
I'm looking for single-purpose simple application, not some complicated streaming/broadcasting solutions.
Is there any freeware app that does just that?
Not sure why, but recently my dell laptop (inspiron 1720) screen goes black after a very short time of unuuse.
e.g. if I am watching a video, the screen goes all black, I have to move the mouse cursor to get it back.
what could be the issue?
