  Hi, In order to calculate SHA1 checksum of a downloaded file, I could type in Terminal /usr/bin/openssl sha1 and then drag there the file which I want check. To make it simpler, one could enable a Context Menu item for this action. What is the best way to create such item in OS X 10.6? Detailed answer is appreciated, because I don't have good experience with AppleScript etc.

  I've always found that just developing in Windows, and using Safari for Windows has been sufficient. However, Safari 6 has now been released, and I've got at least one user who has contacted me, saying he's experienced problems with one of my sites on his new ipad. The trouble is that Safari for Windows only goes up to 5.1.7. Do I have to go out and buy a new mac/ipad/iphone in order to test my code, or is there another way?

• In utf-8 collation, why 11- is less then 1- ?

  I found that the sort result in ASCII: 1- 11- and in UTF-8: 11- 1- I feel it's so counter-intuitive, and it's not dictionary order. Isn't the character '-' (002d) is always less then [0-9] (0030-0039)? What's the general rule in UTF-8 collation? And how to bypass it, just make - be less then [0-9] while keep other characters unchanged for UTF-8, in Linux? (So it can affects the result of ls --sort, sort, etc. )

• Find out what program is using mirror drivers

  I can't get access to Aero transparency themes in Windows 7. The troubleshooter says that I need to close programs that are using mirror drivers in order for that to work. I've looked through my task manager list of running applications and I can't see any that jump out as the culprit. Is there a program that will tell me what the app causing this issue is? MS Troubleshooter doesn't give me the details.

• Can't uninstall windows service

  I have somehow managed to half uninstall a windows service I was developing. In no particular order It won't delete if I use sc delete servicename It gives an exception using installutil /u pathtoservice.exe "specified service does not exist as an installed service" And using the installer/uninstaller obviously doesn't work either It's no longer in the Services listing It's not shown if I use sc query And I have rebooted I don't know what else to do, but something still exists, because attempting to install fails because it already exists. Please help.

• Windows 7 explorer doesn't use details view in folders with media

  I use details as my default folder view, which works fine except for folders that only contain media files like photos or mp3. In these cases the view changes in order to show thumbnails etc. (which I also disabled). How can I prevent this view switch and tell the explorer to stick to details view.

I think the box is running Debian GNU/Linux 5.0 as the server (this is bannered accross the screen occassionally) but not sure of the release/kernal/build etc. I need to be certain of both the server os and email linux versions in order to perform research, admin and support. Thing is in order to view a snapshot of what is happening on each server I have to login to that specific account and then click that specific server.   I have a rails app on my server. I have a script startup.sh which launches unicorn_rails and then nginx. In order to get my server to launch on system boot, I've added a line to call my startup script to /etc/rc.local However, this doesn't work. I added some checks to make sure the script is being called and it is. It's the call to unicorn_rails which I think is failing. Does anyone have experience with this?

• XXClone as a tool for migrating Windows XP Home from PATA to SATA HD
