Is anyone familiar with a library or tool that can determine which format an excel file is in? Or, failing that, documentation on the different formats that would allow me to write my own?
Im building an iphone radio application and I want to have the controls, play, pause, stop, etc. in a tool bar (a custom view controller) at the bottom of the application. I want to keep this there throughout all the views so you can control the audio while navigating through the other parts of the application (multiple view/table controllers).
Is there a way to create a view that stays in place like a tab bar?
I am using wget to mirror website using this code
$ wget \
--recursive \
--no-clobber \
--page-requisites \
--html-extension \
--convert-links \
--restrict-file-names=windows \
--domains website.org \
--no-parent \
www.website.org/tutorials/html/
The next time I run it it starts downloading the same files again, however I want only the changed files to be downloaded next time. I am open to use any other tool or script(preferably PHP,Curl) apart from using wget.
Hi,
I'm currently understanding one application developed both in visual basic and c#. Running through the code is getting tough as code is around 50KLOC. So i'm planning for generation of AST (abstract syntax tree). Will it be possible to generate for both language together.
Atleast a call graph generation will be helpful (but can't find any tool which works for both languages)
Please let me know if this question is confusing.
Thanks in Advance
Dev
Hi,
I have several files about 15k each of CSV data I need to import into SQL Server 2005.
What would be the simplest way to import the csv data into sql server? Ideally, the tool or method would create the table as well, since there are about 180 fields in it, this would simplify things.
Hi All
There is Role Management feature in ASP.NET
It works on local development machine.
For our project we need customers admin to be able to create new users and manage their roles.
So, basically same what aspnet_regsql.exe does.
Question is
Should we develop our own pages and forms or use some ready made tool?
Thanks!
I am looking for a small linux tool that would be able to extract text from odt file.
It just needs to be human-readable and it can have problems with complicated objects etc.
It's almost a duplicate of this question but I need it to be small and have no dependencies on OpenOffice or X server
I remember having a 1MB MS-DOS program that could render .doc files quite readibly (with some weird markup getting through from time to time), so i expect it to be possible in the linux world too ;)
Is it possible to create a small program that will run, without recompiling and without emulators, on both Windows CE 6 AND Windows XP SP3?
From my knowledge, this isn't possible. Source code needs to be recompiled for the target platform. However, a hardware manufacturer for embedded boards is claiming otherwise.
The application isn't anything complex, just a simple benchmarking tool analysing floating point operations, CPU ticks etc, and displaying the results on a plain GUI.
When looking at the log of a folder in Tortoise SVN, you can filter out files which aren't in the folder.
The checkbox says: "Hide unrelated changed paths".
How can I accomplish the same with svn log? I want the verbose output of the tool to not display file paths that aren't inside the current target.
Thanks
Is there a "smart" UDP protocol analyzer that can help me reverse engineer a message based protocol?
I'm using Wireshark to do the sniffing, but if there's a tool that can detect regularities in the protocol (repeated strings, bits of the protocol that are CRC/Checksum or length, ...) and aid the process that would help.
Project I'm working on uses jQuery.
I have a series of Ajax calls being made that load() other HTML fragments which in turn load() other fragments. The whole thing is confusing. I didn't write the code.
Is there any tool which will allow me to walk the callstack so I can figure what is calling a method? any browser tools that would help me figure this out?
Hello all,
I am working with Visual Studio (2008 edition) for the first time. Used to programming in a Unix environment, I have become quite used to cscope and vim. For my current project, I really need cscope. I was wondering if there is any way I could use cscope on Visual Studio - or use cscope in Windows. Or if there is another tool which does this job ..
Thanks

Hello,
When we compile a java program, we get .class files. Can I access these .class files of java core libraries? e.g. can I have access to java.lang.String.class ?
Actually I am doing a research and trying to find branch coverage of some java core libraries. The tool I am using for branch coverage actually instruments the .class files.
Thanks
When creating a new .resx file anywhere in my solution, I would like the following properties to be other than the default:
Copy to Output Directory: Copy if newer
Custom Tool namespace: Booking.Resources
Access Modifier: public
Is there any way I can change the default Visual Studio behavior on creation of these files, so I don't have to make the above changes manually each time?
I use TortoiseSVN and frequently switch between a branch and the trunk, using the switch command.
I noticed that if I don't commit before the switch, local modified copy gets merged. Is there a way to customize the tool to, say, warn me to commit local changes before switch?
We have some JPA entity classes which are currently under development and wouldn't want them as part of the testing cycle. We tried commenting out the relevant entity classes in META-INF\persistence.xml but the hbm2ddl reverse engineering tool still seems to generate SQL for those entities. How do I tell my code to ignore these classes? Are there any annotations for these or should I have to comment out the @Entity annotation along with my changes in persistence.xml file.
According to this question, the most popular ORM tool for .Net is NHibernate. However, zero explanations are given. What are the compelling advantages of NHibernate over the other frameworks?
i have a freelance work website where programmers bid on projects. i want to draw a bell curve/ normal distribution chart for the bids placed on each project to show the percentage of bids higher or lower than the average bid. is there any statistical tool available that could take the data from the site and draw a graph?
I have an iphone app project. I analysed it using instruments memory leak tool. According to instruments I have 2 leaks the Trace is as follows:
start main UIAplicationMain _run CFRunLoopInMode CFRunLoopRunSpecific PurpleEventCallback _UIAplicationHandleEvent sendEvent: handleEvent:withNewEvent:
After this trace there are two separate traces. What causes this and how can I fix it?
I've been trying to implement a mySQL Proxy solution that can separate out the queries into per-database logs. Everything I've Googled has pointed to mySQL Proxy but I can only seem to capture the database a connection was opened to, not which the current query is being issued against.
Is it even possible? Is there a different tool to use?
Thanks for any suggestions.
It seems that Cron doesn't support a seconds interval. What is the easiest way to run a cli script (php) every 15 seconds? Is there a cron tool that works specifically with seconds (then I could use Cron to call it every minute)?

I have a horizontal JToolbar with JToggleButtons. For some reason it is placed in a container that has larger height. My JToggleButtons use only as much space as they need, leaving ugly empty space below and under them. How can I make them fill all available space without setting size arbitrarily?
Similar question: How I can make components fill all horizontal space in a vertical tool bar?
Hello
My motivation for this question is really just to specify an image to be used in a user control via a dependency property for ImageSource. I'm hitting some pain points involving the management, access, and unit testing for this.
Is the resource editor a good tool to use to maintain images for the application?
What is the best way to translate the Bitmap from the editor to an ImageSource?
How can I grab the resource Filename from the editor?
Cheers,
Berryl
