does anyone know of a visual programming tool that could be adapted for children (kids age 7-12) so that they can generate c programs to control device?
Sphinx is a new documentation tool for Python. It looks very nice. What I'm wondering is:
How suitable this is for documenting a C++ project?
Are there any tools for converting existing documentation (e.g. doxygen) to Sphinx format?
Are there online/downloadable examples of C++ projects that use Sphinx?
Any tips from anyone who has used Sphinx?

Every developer has a collection of "must have" tools, things that you want to have around as part of your default development environment. Examples include emacs, vim, meld, ctags, eclipse, cygwin, firebug, etc. What's the most recent such tool you've discovered and cannot now live without?
I come to grails from rails.
I need a database migration tool similar to the rails migration.
I need to keep always updated the database (schema and data) for the webapp that i ship.
Any hint?
I am not sure about the semantic of "ApplicationDirectory" membership condition. I am set it up in the .NET Framework 2.0 configuration tool. All the other membership conditions such as strong name, hash, need me to input some criterias, only the Application Directory has not. How to use it? Could someone give an explanation by example? Many thanks.
Is there any interpreter that takes a string or even a custom object as input and execute it on my datasource?
I cannot use linq to object because query always changes and the report i'm working on, has about 6000 queries which i can reduce to 9 if i find some tool doing that for me.
Opensource is very applicable.
thanks in advance.
Is there any good tool out there that allows developers to correctly debug messages sent between windows with postMessage?
Or maybe a plugin for Firebug?
Thanks!
I'm looking for a tool along the lines of Fiddler, or better yet Wireshark, that would run on a Windows Mobile 6.1 device.
I have an app which calls some webservices on one of our servers, and I want to make sure it it going out to the proper address.
Thanks in advance.
I have existing java code and need to create Design Document based on that.

I don't want to code a monitoring tool, I am sure there must be something out there...
Is there a tool, macro or plugin that can generate a method or function body automatically from a declaration in a header file?
I have tried Intellisense and Refactor! 3.0.5 which both only seem to work with C#.
I am making a multilingual Django website. I want the site to check from which country the user is accessing the website, and according to that decide which language to use.
What would be a good tool to use for that?
This might seem like an odd request but I'd like to use jQuery's Selectable tool to only select one item at a time and I'd like it to show me a value I'll have within each tag. At the very least I want the contents of that selection. Has anyone tried to do this? For some reason these little things seem to not be all that easily findable in their API for it.
I have to use .NET/C# for the next company project. As I've developed my project on Mac, I looked into the mono for development environment/tool.
Is the mono for Mac OS X is fast enough? I mean, what about the performance in running the assembly compared to running the same code on .NET under windows machine?
Do I have to buy PC laptop for developing C#/.NET in practical sense?
I have a program written in c++ that I want to profile, and I want to avoid restarting it when I start and stop profiling. Ideally I would be profiling both CPU usage and memory allocation. Is there any tool that will allow me to do this?
Working with Python in Emacs if I want to add a try/catch to a block of code, I often find that I am having to indent the whole block, line by line. In Emacs, how do you indent the whole block at once.
I am not an experienced Emacs user, but just find it is the best tool for working through ssh. I am using Emacs on the command line(Ubuntu), not as a gui, if that makes any difference.
What are some non commercial deployment tools that allows a developer to speficy:
a branch/tag,
a revision and a
target machine to deploy code to?
I was wondering if there's a ccnet plugin of some sort that would allow the above to be specified.
I know this could be done with a NAnt deploy script. However considering we're mostly using gui tools for feedback, plus the tortoise svn repository browser, it be cool to lear if there's an GUI simple GUI tool/plugin
cheers.
Hi,
I have a Silverlight web app which uses ASP.net Website administration tool for user authentication. Now is there any way by which I can get the list of all registered users in Silverlight?
When deploying an extension I follow various steps : copy to a temporary folder all the files, copy/paste back and forth the code to the on-line minifiers / obfuscators and create the zip to be uploaded.
It's obvious that this could be simplified with scripting, but my experience on Windows scripting is very limited (most of my experience is server-side). Do I have to look back to the DOS .bat files like in the 90's or is there some cool tool or method I'm not aware?
If you are a web developer:
Which web browser do you use as your primary development tool.
Why?
What killer feature(s) does your browser of choice give you that helps you write better web applications?
i have read some posts about the differences between these 3 relationships and i think i get the point.
i just wonder, are all these written the same when coding?
question 1: all 3 are just a value of the object type in a instance variable?
class A {
public $b = ''
public function __construct($object) {
$this->b = $object // <-- could be a association, aggregation or a composition relation?
}
}
question 2: does it have to be an instance variable or can it be a static one?
class A {
public static $b = '' // <-- nothing changed?
public function __construct($object) {
$this->b = $object
}
}
question 3: is there a difference in where the object is created?
i tend to think that composition object is created inside the object:
class A {
public $b = ''
public function __construct() {
$this->b = new Object // is created inside the object
}
}
and aggregation/association is passed through a constructor or another method:
class A {
public $b = ''
public function __construct($object) { // passed through a method
$this->b = $object
}
}
question 4: why/when is this important to know. do i have to comment an object inside another what relation its about or do you do it in an UML diagram?
could someone shed a light on these questions.
thanks!
Hello,
I have developed an ASP.NET web application that I'm working on putting the finishing touches on. To assist with this, I have been using YSlow. With this tool, I have discovered that I have not properly configured the entity tags of the components on my pages. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do this.
How do I configure entity tags on components within an ASP.NET page?
Thank you!
