  • custom MAIL server -> Proxy Server -> Gmail Server

    - by Eugene
So I have some custom VPS which route emails via MX record in DNS. And I need to setup gmail interface via Google Apps - this step and previous are clear. But how can I insert some middle layer, to check emails messages for special words/etc., so something like spam assasin proxy, but custom product. The question is: How could i setup proxy mail from my server = to proxy server(or application) = to gmail servers? Thank you, for any help!

  • Using ClearOS as a gateway/firewall/mailserver

    - by Elzenissimo
Just installed ClearOS on a PC to act as our firewall firstly and then to act as an internal mailserver. My question is: Can i create a mailserver that then routes the mail through to our ISP mail server without having to contact the ISP and gain MX records etc..? We are a small business (5 PCs + dataserver) and the reason this is interesting is because we need to keep a record of outgoing mails from certain users, as well as spam and virus filtering.

  • Sendmail to local domain ignoring MX records (part 2)

    - by FractalizeR
Hello. I have the exact problem, like in this post: http://serverfault.com/questions/25068/sendmail-to-local-domain-ignoring-mx-records I am also using email provider like GMail For Your Domain (which stores your mail and manages it). I am sending mail from my server directly, but receiving mail is done via Yandex (email provider). Since the server hosts forum, I prefer to send mail directly from it because using another mail provider can slow things. Also, when I send 300.000 emails to my subscribers, email provider will surely block me thinking I send spam. My DNS zone now is: ; ; GSMFORUM.RU ; $TTL 1H gsmforum.ru. SOA ns1.hc.ru. support.hc.ru. ( 2009122268 ; Serial 1H ; Refresh 30M ; Retry 1W ; Expire 1H ) ; Minimum gsmforum.ru. NS ns1.hc.ru. gsmforum.ru. NS ns2.hc.ru. @ A 79.174.68.223 *.gsmforum.ru. CNAME @ ns1 A 79.174.68.223 ns2 A 79.174.68.224 @ MX 10 mx.yandex.ru. mail CNAME domain.mail.yandex.net. yamail-xxxxxxxxx CNAME mail.yandex.ru. Server hostname is server.gsmforum.ru. May be this is the cause? Can someone explain the reason of the matter (the rules that make sendmail consider domain to be local)? Can I easily change *.gsmforum.ru. CNAME @ into *.gsmforum.ru. A 79.174.68.224 to solve this problem? [root@server ~]# cat /etc/mail/local-host-names localhost localhost.localdomain This server hosts gsmforum.ru so I cannot put it into another domain like David Mackintosh suggests. Putting domain in mailertable doesn't solve the problem also. sendmail -bt still shows, that address is local. DontProbeInterfaces is also set to true at sendmail config. M4 file follows: divert(-1)dnl dnl # dnl # This is the sendmail macro config file for m4. • How to keep SpamAssassin up to date under CentOS?

    - by Josh
I am running CentOS 5.4 with SpamAssassin installed via yum. However the version yum installed was SpamAssassin version 3.2.5 and I am finding that this version has many outdated rules -- including a rule FH_DATE_PAST_20XX which marks all email from the year 2010 and forward as spam. Not good. yum says SpamAssassin is up to date -- what can I do to make yum keep SpamAssassin really up to date?

  • Using gmail as your primary mail server

    - by Saif Bechan
I have read that there is an option of using Gmail as your primary mail server. In the sense that you can add mx records etc and you do not have to do it on your own server. Do you think this is a recommended setup in terms of security. Will Gmail do the fight against virusses, spam, and brute force attacks for you?

  • Working around Gmail mailing-list “feature.”

    - by Paul J. Lucas
I'm using Google Apps for my domain's e-mail via IMAP. Whenever I send mail to a mailing list, I don't receive a copy of my own mail back in my inbox. According to Google, this is a "feature." Is there a way to disable this "feature" so that all mail I send to mailing lists appears in my inbox just like all other e-mail? Perhaps something along the lines of this method for disabling Google's spam filter??

  • How might I stop BACKSCATTER using Qmail?

    - by alecb
New to ServerFault , please pardon if my details are too much Linux box acting as Virtual Host for domain hosting. Runs CentOs. Runs Parallels Plesk 9.x Regardless of the following, the SPAM keeps flowing in at 1-3 / second. An explanation of the problem... "xinetd service listens for SMTP connections and forwards to qmail-smtpd. The qmail service only process the queue, but does not control messages coming into the queue...that's why stopping it has no effect. If you stop xinetd AND qmail, then kill any open qmail-smtpd processes, all mail flow comes to a stop SOMETIMES Problem is, qmail-smtpd is not smart enough to check for valid mailboxes on the localhost before accepting the mail. So, it accepts bad mail with a forged replyto address which gets processed in the queue by qmail. Qmail cannot deliver locally and bounces to the forged replyto address." We believe the fix is to patch the qmail-smtpd process to give it the intelligence to check for the existence of local mailboxes BEFORE accepting the message. The problem is when we try to compile the chkuser patch we run into failures due to Plesk Control Panel." Is anyone aware of something we could do differently or better?" Other things that have NOT worked thus far: -Turning off any and all mail processes (to check as an indicator that an individual account has been compromised. This has been verified as NOT the case.) -Turning off mail AND http server processes (in the case of a compromised formmail) -Running EXIM in lieu of Qmail( easy/quick install but xinetd forces exim to close and restarts qmail on its own) -Turned on SPF protection via Plesk GUI. Does not help. -Turned on Greylisting via Plesk GUI. Does not help. -Disabled Bounce notifications via command line That which MIGHT work but have complications: -Use POSTFIX instead of QMAIL (No knowledge of POSTIFX and don't want to bother with it unless anyone knows it has potential to handle backscatter WELL before investing time) -As mentioned above, compiling a chkusr patch, we believe will STOP this problem, along with qmail (because of plesk in the mix, the comile fails every time and Parallels Plesk support is unresponsive unless I cough up MONEY) If I don't clear out the SPAM from the outgoing mail queue nightly, then it clogs up with millions of SPAMs and will bring down the OUTGOING email services. Any and all help welcome and appreciated!

  • How to rip an asx stream - preferably free

    - by lagerdalek
I am trying to rip an asx stream through winamp (at present) on Windows XP (or Vista if necessary) using stream ripper, however it complains I have an Invalid URL (though the stream itself plays). I am not interested in one of the many products available for $$ that tend to 'spam' the top google results for this sort of thing. Is there any simple way to rip an asx stream?

  • Availability of downloadable DNSBL dumps?

    - by mtah
I need to cross-reference data involving a large number of IP addresses against known public proxies, spam-listed IPs etc. For obvious performance and network load reasons, obtaining a regularly updated dump for off-line processing would be preferrable. I currently use http://www.dnsbl.manitu.net/download/nixspam-ip.dump.gz - a digest of ix.dnsbl.manitu.net with 40,000 entries updated every 15 minutes. I'd like something more substantial though, so my question is: does such a thing exist?

I'm trying to set up an Active Directory Federation Service Relying Party and I get the following error. I've tried modifying the page to allow <pages validateRequest="false"> to web.config and it doesn't make a difference. Can someone help me out? Server Error in '/test' Application. A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client (wresult="<t:RequestSecurityTo..."). Description: Request Validation has detected a potentially dangerous client input value, and processing of the request has been aborted. This value may indicate an attempt to compromise the security of your application, such as a cross-site scripting attack. To allow pages to override application request validation settings, set the requestValidationMode attribute in the httpRuntime configuration section to requestValidationMode="2.0". Example: <httpRuntime requestValidationMode="2.0" />. After setting this value, you can then disable request validation by setting validateRequest="false" in the Page directive or in the <pages> configuration section. • IPtables - Accept Arbitrary Packets

    - by Asad Moeen
I've achieved a lot on blocking attacks on GameServers but I'm stuck on something. I've blocked major requests of game-server which it aceepts in the form "\xff\xff\xff\xff" which can be followed by the actual queries like get status or get info to make something like "\xff\xff\xff\xff getstatus " but I see other queries if sent to the game-server will cause it to reply with a "disconnect" packet with the same rate as input so if the input rate is high then the high output of "disconnect" might give lag to the server. Hence I want to block all queries except the ones actual clients use which I suppose are in the form "\xff\xff\xff\xff" or .... so, I tried using this rule : -A INPUT -p udp -m udp -m u32 ! --u32 0x1c=0xffffffff -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -p udp -m udp -m recent --set --name Total --rsource -A INPUT -p udp -m udp -m recent --update --seconds 1 --hitcount 20 --name Total --rsource -j DROP Now where the rule does accept the clients but it only blocks requests in the form "\xff\xff\xff\xff getstatus " ( by which GameServer replies with status ) and not just "getstatus " ( by which GameServer replies with disconnect packet ). So I suppose the accept rule is accepting the simple "string" as well. I actually want it to also block the non-(\xff) queries. So how do I modify the rule?

  • Revover original email from Sendmail log

    - by Xavi Colomer
I have a website the contact form has been failing silently for two weeks (Wordpress + Contact form 7). Apparently updating to Contact Form 7 made the assigned email to fail [email protected], I also tested with [email protected] and it also failed until I tried with gmail and it finally worked. Apparently @telefonica.net and @me.com domains are not working with this version of the plugin, but I have to investigate the cause. I found the logs of the lost emails, but I would like to know If I can recover the sender or the content of the original messages. • Convert DVD to Xvid or Divx

    - by waveycrab
Is there a straightforward way to convert a DVD (or VOB files) to an Xvid or Divx? I'm looking for something as easy as Handbreak. All the products out there are either not free, full of spam, or require too much twiddling and experimentation. I'd be happy with either a Windows or Mac OS X solution.

  • How do I get the IP address of a switch.

    - by Atilla Filiz
I have a wireless AP+switch which I configured years ago, before moving, and haven't used for a while. Now I want to reconfigure it for my new network, but have no idea what I set as its IP address(It was probably something 192.168.xx.yy). What is the best way for discovering its IP? A script to spam the whole address space?

  • Excessive Outbound DNS Traffic

    - by user1318414
I have a VPS system which I have had for 3 years on one host without issue. Recently, the host started sending an extreme amount of outbound DNS traffic to 31.193.132.138. Due to the way that Linode responded to this, I have recently left Linode and moved to 6sync. The server was completely rebuilt on 6sync with the exception of postfix mail configurations. Currently, the daemons run are as follows: sshd nginx postfix dovecot php5-fpm (localhost only) spampd (localhost only) clamsmtpd (localhost only) Given that the server was 100% rebuilt, I can't find any serious exploits against the above stated daemons, passwords have changed, ssh keys don't even exist on the rebuild yet, etc... it seems extremely unlikely that this is a compromise which is being used to DoS the address. The provided IP is noted online as a known SPAM source. My initial assumption was that it was attempting to use my postfix server as a relay, and the bogus addresses it was providing were domains with that IP registered as their nameservers. I would imagine given my postfix configuration that DNS queries for things such as SPF information would come in with equal or greater amount than the number of attempted spam e-mails sent. Both Linode and 6Sync have said that the outbound traffic is extremely disproportionate. The following is all the information I received from Linode regarding the outbound traffic: 21:28:28.647263 IP 97.107.134.33.32775 > 31.193.132.138.53: 28720 op8+% [b2&3=0x4134] [17267a] [30550q] [28773n] [14673au][|domain] 21:28:28.647264 IP 97.107.134.33 > 31.193.132.138: udp 21:28:28.647264 IP 97.107.134.33.32775 > 31.193.132.138.53: 28720 op8+% [b2&3=0x4134] [17267a] [30550q] [28773n] [14673au][|domain] 21:28:28.647265 IP 97.107.134.33 > 31.193.132.138: udp 21:28:28.647265 IP 97.107.134.33.32775 > 31.193.132.138.53: 28720 op8+% [b2&3=0x4134] [17267a] [30550q] [28773n] [14673au][|domain] 21:28:28.647266 IP 97.107.134.33 > 31.193.132.138: udp 6sync cannot confirm whether or not the recent spike in outbound traffic was to the same IP or over DNS, but I have presumed as such. For now my server is blocking the entire 31.0.0.0/8 subnet to help deter this while I figure it out. Anyone have any idea what is going on?

  • Is sending email from EC2 / Rackspace Cloud a bad idea?

    - by Michael Buckbee
In this article it mentions that TrendMicro is now treating all emails from Amazon's EC2 as coming from "Dial Up Users": likely to be spam and this is creating severe deliverability issues with their emails. We're having all kinds of issues sending email from our app servers on Rackspace cloud (which may or may not be DUL'd) and I wonder if this isn't just a losing battle and we should try to get a different host for our SMTP server.

  • Get Safari to use different autocompletion on different URLs on same hostname

    - by Luke404
I have a webserver publishing different services over the same SSL VirtualHost, the two most commonly used being PhpMyAdmin and Cacti. These (and others) use 'cookie' style authentication, asking user and password in an HTML form (thus not using HTTP Authentication). Being on the same hostname, the Safari browser didn't manage too well stored passwords: if I login to one app with user foo, and then go to app two it would propose me user foo and its password in the login form. Changing just the username to bar used to be sufficient to let Safari autocomplete the correct password in its form field. Annoying, but I could live with it - usernames are short and easy to remember when compared to the passwords we use. After the update to safari5 this seems to be no longer true: if I store in safari (actually user keychain on OSX) credentials for https://www.foobarbaz.com/app1 AND credentials for https://www.foobarbaz.com/app2 there seem to be no way for it to autocomplete both based on the url. Even editing the keychain to add the path (it will store only the hostname by default) does not help. Is there anything I can do to let it work the way I want while still keeping everything on one hostname? Modifying anything server side is of course possible, but I can't switch apps to HTTP Auth (and not every one will support it anyway) to use different 'realms'.
