  • How to check if Contact has Image?

    - by Pentium10
    I am assigning to an ImageView contacts images using this code: mPhotoView = (ImageView) findViewById(R.id.photo); mPhotoView.setImageURI(objItem.getPhotoUri()); If the contact has no image, this does nothing, and no error is raised. When there is no image, I want to add a default image. So I need to check either if the image was added to the view, or check that the URI holds some image data How do I achieve that? Than I will set default image by this: mPhotoView.setImageResource(R.drawable.ic_contact_picture_2);

  • How can I pass information between 2 different View Controllers?

    - by sagiftw
Hi, This is a simple question: I have 2 different view controllers, and each one has its own data stored in its .m file. I want to take a value, for instance, an integer value (int i=3;) that is declared in ViewController1 and pass it to ViewController2, so I will be able to use that value in the second view controller. Can anyone please tell me how to do it? Thanks in advance, Sagiftw

  • What software or service can I use to programatically make phone calls with?

    - by Jason
I'm looking to programatically make phone call reminders to customers based upon their opt-in requests. I am NOT a telemarketer. I need to make a phone call, and play a message. I need to leave a message after the beep if an answering machine or voicemail is detected. I need to know if the message was successfully delivered. Ideally, I could offer the user feedback by pressing a button and recording their selection. I prefer Windows and .NET but would consider anything. What do you suggest?

  • What is the best way to create derived properties

    - by user342788
I have a datamodel with to-many to-many relations. Using the example of employee database let say the entity division is related to department which in turn is related to employee. The employee has an attribute salary. How best to have a attribute at the level of division which is derived from the salary attribute. For example average salary or maximum salary. I would need those attributes to sort the list of departments.

  • How to track how many times an iPhone app is opened?

    - by Jason
I am building an iphone app and would like to keep track of how many times it has been opened so that I can prompt the user to do certain actions after it has been opened X number of times. I have thought about storing a variable in Core Data which I update every time it is opened, but this seems like a waste since it is a singleton data, not multiple instances of an object. What is the best way to store data like this and access it without slowing down the app opening time?

  • How do you get and set a class property across multiple functions in Objective-C?

    - by editor
Following up on this question about sharing objects between classes, I now need to figure out how to share the objects across various functions in a class. First, the setup: In my App Delegate I load menu information from JSON into a NSMutableDictionary and message that through to a view controller using a function called initWithData. I need to use this dictionary to populate a new Table View, which has methods like numberOfRowsInSection and cellForRowAtIndexPath. I'd like to use the dictionary count to return numberOfRowsInSection and info in the dictionary to populate each cell. Unfortunately, my code never gets beyond the init stage and the dictionary is empty so numberOfRowsInSection always returns zero. I thought I could create a class property, synthesize it and then set it. But it doesn't seem to want to retain the property's value. What am I doing wrong here? In the header .h: @interface FirstViewController:UIViewController <UITableViewDataSource, UITableViewDelegate, UITabBarControllerDelegate> { NSMutableDictionary *sectorDictionary; NSInteger sectorCount; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableDictionary *sectorDictionary; - (id)initWithData:(NSMutableDictionary*)data; @end in the implementation .m: - (id) testFunction:(NSMutableDictionary*)dictionary { NSLog(@"Count #1: %d", [dictionary count]); return nil; } - (id)initWithData:(NSMutableDictionary *)data { if (!(self=[super init])) { return nil; } [self testFunction:data]; // this is where I'd like to set a retained property self.sectorDictionary = data; return nil; } - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { NSLog(@"Count #2: %d", [self.sectorDictionary count]); return [self.sectorDictionary count]; } Output from NSLog: 2010-05-04 23:00:06.255 JSONApp[15890:207] Count #1: 9 2010-05-04 23:00:06.259 JSONApp[15890:207] Count #2: 0

  • How to schedule heavy work for later display for Listviews?

    - by Pentium10
I have a listview with 200 items. I use a custom view for each row. There is a code that takes some time to calculate, and because of this the list hangs out on scrolling and loads in slow (2-3sec). I have subclassed SimpleCursorAdapter, and using Filterable and SectionIndexer. I have in mind to show initially the name of the record, and put in a thread the calculation, and will show up later when it's done. How do I push back some work, and later update the listview to include the calculated data? This should show up on fly without user interaction.

  • Including different code for other home screen replacement screens

    - by radicam2
I have put together a Skin for OpenHome but have since ran across AHome code for their IPhone theme and was wondering that if I included for AHome their Dock_Bg or widget_drawer among other things which is not on OpenHome that the Launcher for the respective screen replacement would just call the items it uses.I want to keep the mb as low as I can but reach more handsets.I can just make seperate ones but see many that include even Freshface as well as OpenHome and AHome.

  • Collision detection on sub views contained in 2 separate parent UIViews?

    - by Chris
Hi All, I originally setup some conditions using CGRectIntersectsRect for some collision detection which worked fine. In the greater scale of things I only need part of the view to be detected. So originally within the ViewController it was comparing 2 UIviews. Now what I need to do is collision detection of subViews within 2 different UIViews that are contained in a view in which the view controller does the logic. My script is no longer working as I suspect CGRectIntersectsRect only compares frames within the same view? I'll keep digging to confirm this. Any ways around this? Is it possible for example to get the x and y pos of the sub view in relation to the main view that's performing the logic?

  • UITextField for Phone Number

Hello everyone, I was wondering how I can format the textField that I'm using for a phone number (ie like the "Add New Contact" page on the iPhone. When I enter in a new mobile phone, ex. 1236890987 it formats it as (123) 689-0987.) I already have the keyboard set as the number pad. Thanks!

  • Access location variable in another process

    - by user295944
I have a locationmanager in my main program which is called HomeViewController which I get the latitude and longitude and store them in LAT and LON. I can use LAT and LON in HomeViewController just fine. Once I go to another controller which is sending pictures and setting properties on flicker I want to use LAT and LON, how do I do this? I tried putting HomeViewController.LAT but obviously that does not work, I'm pretty new to the language so I am confused.

  • What's the best way to have functions share an array in Objective-C?

    - by editor
I understand that in Objective-C you declare an array in the header file and interact with it in a class. So far I'm adding things and fetching them fine within a single function. I'm new to the language however and can't figure out how to share that array across other functions. I'd like to initialize array data in my viewDidLoad and access it from various functions later on. Is this possible and if so what's the best way to do it?
