  • Java ME Application running fine in Emulator but crashing when deployed to N70. Any way to identify

    - by sana
    I have developed a Java ME application for CLDC platform. It works fine when executed in an emulator. But when i deploy it to my N70 phone the application doesn't start at all in the phone. In my application there are some 14 classes and am creating an instance of each and putting them in the vector on application start. The classes just have one variable and 2 methods. Can this creating of lot of instances be the reason for its crashing? Is there any way I can find out the reason why the application is not able to start in the phone?

  • Using LocationManager from another class than Main

    - by iphonePom
    Hi, i'm new here, i'm new in iphone development, i'm new in Objective-c and i'm new in engligh speaking, so don't hate me :P I'm creating an application that will use the location manager to display the distance between the own position and the positions of a list of shops, like AroundME. Now, i give the locationManager property to my main class and in the .m of that class, precisely in the viewDidLoad method, i make: [locationManager startUpdatingLocation]. It all works fine, but the problem is: i need to know my position in other classes than the main, but i don't think that is a good idea making [locationManager startUpdatingLocation] every time i need it, is not time overhead? The view of my main class is always below the others, so can i retrieve the updated location in my other classes? In what way? Creating another instance of my main class is not useful, i think, but the locationManager, once started, doesn't stop until my main class is released, isn't true? So i think that it is accessible in some way. Thanks for your attention and sorry for my awful english : )

  • How To Collapse Just One Field in Django Admin?

    - by Apreche
    The django admin allows you to specify fieldsets. You properly structure a tuple that groups different fields together. You can also specify classes for certain groups of fields. One of those classes is collapse, which will hide the field under a collapsable area. This is good for hiding rarely used or advanced fields to keep the UI clean. However, I have a situation where I want to hide just one lonesome field on many different apps. This will be a lot of typing to create a full fieldset specification in every admin.py file just to put one field into the collapsed area. It also creates a difficult maintenance situation because I will have to edit the fieldset every time I edit the associated model. I can easily exclude the field entirely using the exclude option. I want something similar for collapse. Is this possible?

  • Repository layout and sparse checkouts

    - by chuanose
    My team is considering to move from Clearcase to Subversion and we are thinking of organising the repository like this: \trunk\project1 \trunk\project2 \trunk\project3 \trunk\staticlib1 \trunk\staticlib2 \trunk\staticlib3 \branches\.. \tags\.. The issue here is that we have lots of projects (1000+) and each project is a dll that links in several common static libraries. Therefore checking out everything in trunk is a non-starter as it will take way too long (~2 GB), and is unwieldy for branching. Using svn:externals to pull out relevant folders for each project doesn't seem ideal because it results in several working copies for each static library folder. We also cannot do an atomic commit if the changes span the project and some static libraries. Sparse checkouts sounds very suitable for this as we can write a script to pull out only the required directories. However when we want to merge changes from a branch back to the trunk we will need to first check out a full trunk. Wonder if there is some advice on 1) a better repository organization or 2) a way to merge over branch changes to a trunk working copy that is sparse?

  • JAX-B annotations for elements that inherit from a parent

    - by AlexM
    When adding JAX-B Java annotations for Java classes - if I have a parent Class Entry, with two children, Book and JournalArticle, Would I add these annotations for all three classes: @XmlAccessorType(XmlAccessType.FIELD) @XmlRootElement ie: @XmlSeeAlso({au.com.library.Book.class, au.com.library.JournalArticle.class}) @XmlAccessorType(XmlAccessType.FIELD) @XmlRootElement public abstract class Entry implements Serializable{ private static final long serialVersionUID = -1895155325179947581L; @XmlElement(name="title") protected String title; @XmlElement(name="author") protected String author; @XmlElement(name="year") protected int year; and @XmlAccessorType(XmlAccessType.FIELD) @XmlRootElement public class Book extends Entry { @XmlElement(name="edition") private String edition; @XmlElement(name="publisher") private String publisher; @XmlElement(name="placeOfPublication") private String placeOfPub; and @XmlAccessorType(XmlAccessType.FIELD) @XmlRootElement public class JournalArticle extends Entry { @XmlElement(name="journalTitle") private String journalTitle; @XmlElement(name="volume") private String volume; @XmlElement(name="issue") private String issue; @XmlElement(name="pageNumbers") private String pgNumbers;

  • What is a recommended Android utility class collection?

    - by Sebastian Roth
    I often find myself writing very similar code across projects. And more often than not, I copy stuff over from old projects. Things like: Create images with round corners read density into a static variable & re-use. 4 lines.. disable / hide multiple views / remote views at once. Example: } public static void disableViews(RemoteViews views, int... ids) { for (int id : ids) { views.setInt(id, SET_VISIBILITY, View.GONE); } } public static void showViews(RemoteViews views, int... ids) { for (int id : ids) { views.setInt(id, SET_VISIBILITY, View.VISIBLE); } } I'd love to package these kind of functions into 1 letter / 2 letter class names, i.e. V.showViews(RemoteViews views, int... ids) would be easy to write & remember I hope. I'm searching for Github recommendations, links and if nothing is found, I perhaps will start a small project on github to collect.

  • How to use SQLiteOpenHelper without or less restrictive use of Context?

    - by Pentium10
    If you extend SQLiteOpenHelper, for the Constructor you have to use a Context. I am wondering if there is a way to leave this out, and be able to work with database tables without a Context. Or at least be least restrictive, I mean a way of project/class structure that will make history the several context passings I have to do now. As it is my application has several level of classes, chained in each other, and there are a few that connects to the database, but have no whatsoever influence on the interface, so they don't actually need the Context. Are you creating your classes in the way that you pass each time a Context to them? If not, how you do, how you reuse a Context in a short class?

  • nhibernate sessionfactory instance more than once on web service

    - by Manuel
    Hello, i have a web service that use nhibernate. I have a singleton pattern on the repositorry library but on each call the service, it creates a new instance of the session factory wich is very expensive. What can i do? region Atributos /// <summary> /// Session /// </summary> private ISession miSession; /// <summary> /// Session Factory /// </summary> private ISessionFactory miSessionFactory; private Configuration miConfiguration = new Configuration(); private static readonly ILog log = LogManager.GetLogger(typeof(NHibernatePersistencia).Name); private static IRepositorio Repositorio; #endregion #region Constructor private NHibernatePersistencia() { //miConfiguration.Configure("hibernate.cfg.xml"); try { miConfiguration.Configure(); this.miSessionFactory = miConfiguration.BuildSessionFactory(); this.miSession = this.SessionFactory.OpenSession(); log.Debug("Se carga NHibernate"); } catch (Exception ex) { log.Error("No se pudo cargar Nhibernate " + ex.Message); throw ex; } } public static IRepositorio Instancia { get { if (Repositorio == null) { Repositorio = new NHibernatePersistencia(); } return Repositorio; } } #endregion #region Propiedades /// <summary> /// Sesion de NHibernate /// </summary> public ISession Session { get { return miSession.SessionFactory.GetCurrentSession(); } } /// <summary> /// Sesion de NHibernate /// </summary> public ISessionFactory SessionFactory { get { return this.miSessionFactory; } } #endregion In wich way can i create a single instance for all services?

  • WCF interoperability with WSDL proxy and performance consideration advise.

    - by user194917
    I'm essentially writing a broker service. The requirement is that I write an API that acts as an intermediary broker between our in-house developed services and a 3rd party provided API. The intention being that my API abstract the actual communication with the 3rd party API from our internal systems. The architect on the project chose WCF as the communication framework. The problem is that 70 percent of our subscriber applications are written in .Net 2 and as such have no access to the class libraries required to implement a WCF proxy. The end result being that our proxy classes are loosely based on the code auto generated by the WSDL tool as opposed to the SvcUtil tool. My question is, although I have no issues implementing the required proxy classes using basicHttp as the actual binding and using the WSDL tool, are there any special considerations that I need to take into account in this scenario? I.E proxy optimizations and the like. Thanks in advance.

  • When to use reinterpret_cast?

    - by HeretoLearn
    I am little confused with the applicability of reinterpret_cast vs static_cast. From what I have read the general rules are to use static cast when the types can be interpreted at compile time hence the word static. This is the cast the C++ compiler uses internally for implicit casts also. reinterpret_cast are applicable in two scenarios, convert integer types to pointer types and vice versa or to convert one pointer type to another. The general idea I get is this is unportable and should be avoided. Where I am a little confused is one usage which I need, I am calling C++ from C and the C code needs to hold on to the C++ object so basically it holds a void*. What cast should be used to convert between the void * and the Class type? I have seen usage of both static_cast and reinterpret_cast? Though from what I have been reading it appears static is better as the cast can happen at compile time? Though it says to use reinterpret_cast to convert from one pointer type to another?

  • Can't give my custom prototype cells in tableview different heights

    - by kerbelda
    I've looked around at other questions here and many other sources online and just can't find a solution. I have 3 rows and no matter what I do, they all keep the width defined in the tableview. The first one is what I want, but the second and 3rd I can't give a custom height. Below is my code: #import "DetailTableViewController.h" #import "EventDetailTableViewCell.h" #import "EventDescriptionTableViewCell.h" #import "EventMapTableViewCell.h" @interface DetailTableViewController () @end @implementation DetailTableViewController - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; } #pragma mark - Table view data source - (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { // Return the number of sections. return 3; } - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { // Return the number of rows in the section. return 1; } - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { if (indexPath.section == 0) { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"headerCell"; EventDetailTableViewCell *headerCell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier forIndexPath:indexPath]; headerCell.headerImage.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"img4.png"]; return headerCell; } else if (indexPath.section == 1) { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"descriptionCell"; EventDescriptionTableViewCell *descriptionCell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier forIndexPath:indexPath]; descriptionCell.descriptionImage.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"img2.png"]; return descriptionCell; } else { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"mapCell"; EventMapTableViewCell *mapCell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier forIndexPath:indexPath]; return mapCell; } } #pragma mark - Helper Methods - (NSString *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView titleForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section { if (section == 1) { return @" "; } else if (section == 2) { return @" "; } else { return nil; } } -(CGFloat)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView heightForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { if (indexPath.row == 0) { return 222; } else if (indexPath.row == 1) { return 80; } else { return 100; } } @end

  • Cygwin diff won't exclude files if a directory is included in the pattern

    - by Dean Schulze
    I need to do a recursive diff using cygwin that needs do exclude all .xml files from certain directories, but not from other directories. According to the --help option I should be able to do this with with the --exclude=PAT option where PAT is a pattern describing the files I want to exclude from the diff. If I do this: diff -rw --exclude="classes/Services.xml" the diff does not ignore the Services.xml file in the classes directory. If I do this diff -rw --exclude="Services.xml" the diff does ignore the Services.xml file in all directories. I need to do something like this: diff -rw --exclude="*/generated/resources/client/*.xml" to ignore all .xml files in the directory */generated/resources/client/. Whenever I add path information to the --exclude pattern cygwin does not ignore the file(s) I've specified in the pattern. Is there some way to make cygwin diff recognize a pattern that identifies certain files in certain directories? It seems to not be able to handle any directory information at all.

  • how to show all added items into another activity, like: AddtoCart and ViewCart Functionality

    - by Stanley
    i am trying to make a shopping cart app, allowing user to choose category then select item to purchase, once user will click on any item to purchase, then showing that selected item into another activity with item image, name, cost, qty (to accept by user) and also providing add to cart functionality, now i want whenever user will click on Add to Cart button, then selected item need to show in ViewCart Activity, so here i am placing my AddtoCart Activity code, please tell me what i need to write to show added item(s) into ViewCart Category just like in shopping cart, In ViewCart activity i just want to show item title, cost and qty (entered by user):- public class AddtoCart extends Activity{ static final String KEY_TITLE = "title"; static final String KEY_COST = "cost"; static final String KEY_THUMB_URL = "imageUri"; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.single); Intent in = getIntent(); String title = in.getStringExtra(KEY_TITLE); String thumb_url = in.getStringExtra(KEY_THUMB_URL); String cost = in.getStringExtra(KEY_COST); ImageLoader imageLoader = new ImageLoader(getApplicationContext()); ImageView imgv = (ImageView) findViewById(R.id.single_thumb); TextView txttitle = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.single_title); TextView txtcost = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.single_cost); txttitle.setText(title); txtcost.setText(cost); imageLoader.DisplayImage(thumb_url, imgv); // Save a reference to the quantity edit text final EditText editTextQuantity = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.edit_qty); ImageButton addToCartButton = (ImageButton) findViewById(R.id.img_add); addToCartButton.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { // Check to see that a valid quantity was entered int quantity = 0; try { quantity = Integer.parseInt(editTextQuantity.getText() .toString()); if (quantity <= 0) { Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(), "Please enter a quantity of 1 or higher", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); return; } } catch (Exception e) { Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(), "Please enter a numeric quantity", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); return; } // Close the activity finish(); } }); }}

  • Why is only the first shown window focusable

    - by Miha Markic
    Imagine the code below. Only the first window appears on the top, all of subsequent windows won't nor can they be programatically focused for some reason (they appear in the background). Any idea how to workaround this? BTW, static methods/properties are not allowed nor is any global property. [STAThread] static void Main() { Application.EnableVisualStyles(); Application.SetCompatibleTextRenderingDefault(false); Thread t1 = new Thread(CreateForm); t1.SetApartmentState(ApartmentState.STA); t1.Start(); t1.Join(); t1 = new Thread(CreateForm); t1.SetApartmentState(ApartmentState.STA); t1.Start(); t1.Join(); } private static void CreateForm() { using (Form f = new Form()) { System.Windows.Forms.Timer t = new System.Windows.Forms.Timer { Enabled = true, Interval = 2000 }; t.Tick += (s, e) => { f.Close(); t.Enabled = false; }; f.TopMost = true; Application.Run(f); } }

  • Persistence scheme & state data for low memory situations (iphone)

    - by Robin Jamieson
    What happens to state information held by a class's variable after coming back from a low memory situation? I know that views will get unloaded and then reloaded later but what about some ancillary classes & data held in them that's used by the controller that launched the view? Sample scenario in question: @interface MyCustomController: UIViewController { ServiceAuthenticator *authenticator; } -(id)initWithAuthenticator:(ServiceAuthenticator *)auth; // the user may press a button that will cause the authenticator // to post some data to the service. -(IBAction)doStuffButtonPressed:(id)sender; @end @interface ServiceAuthenticator { BOOL hasValidCredentials; // YES if user's credentials have been validated NSString *username; NSString *password; // password is not stored in plain text } -(id)initWithUserCredentials:(NSString *)username password:(NSString *)aPassword; -(void)postData:(NSString *)data; @end The app delegate creates the ServiceAuthenticator class with some user data (read from plist file) and the class logs the user with the remote service. inside MyAppDelegate's applicationDidFinishLaunching: - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { ServiceAuthenticator *auth = [[ServiceAuthenticator alloc] initWithUserCredentials:username password:userPassword]; MyCustomController *controller = [[MyCustomController alloc] initWithNibName:...]; controller.authenticator = auth; // Configure and show the window [window addSubview:..]; // make everything visible [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } Then whenever the user presses a certain button, 'MyCustomController's doStuffButtonPressed' is invoked. -(IBAction)doStuffButtonPressed:(id)sender { [authenticator postData:someDataFromSender]; } The authenticator in-turn checks to if the user is logged in (BOOL variable indicates login state) and if so, exchanges data with the remote service. The ServiceAuthenticator is the kind of class that validates the user's credentials only once and all subsequent calls to the object will be to postData. Once a low memory scenario occurs and the associated nib & MyCustomController will get unloaded -- when it's reloaded, what's the process for resetting up the 'ServiceAuthenticator' class & its former state? I'm periodically persisting all of the data in my actual model classes. Should I consider also persisting the state data in these utility style classes? Is that the pattern to follow?

  • Overload and hide methods in Java

    - by Marco
    Hi, i have an abstract class BaseClass with a public insert() method: public abstract class BaseClass { public void insert(Object object) { // Do something } } which is extended by many other classes. For some of those classes, however, the insert() method must have additional parameters, so that they instead of overriding it I overload the method of the base class with the parameters required, for example: public class SampleClass extends BaseClass { public void insert(Object object, Long param){ // Do Something } } Now, if i instantiate the SampleClass class, i have two insert() methods: SampleClass sampleClass = new SampleClass(); sampleClass.insert(Object object); sampleClass.insert(Object object, Long param); what i'd like to do is to hide the insert() method defined in the base class, so that just the overload would be visible: SampleClass sampleClass = new SampleClass(); sampleClass.insert(Object object, Long param); Could this be done in OOP?

  • Should every class have its own namespace?

    - by thehouse
    Something that has been troubling me for a while: The current wisdom is that types should be kept in a namespace that only contains functions which are part of the type's non-member interface (see C++ Coding Standards Sutter and Alexandrescu or here) to prevent ADL pulling in unrelated definitions. Does this imply that all classes must have a namespace of their own? If we assume that a class may be augmented in the future by the addition of non-member functions, then it can never be safe to put two types in the same namespace as either one of them may introduce non-member functions that could interfere with the other. The reason I ask is that namespaces are becoming cumbersome for me. I'm writing a header-only library and I find myself using classes names such as project::component::class_name::class_name. Their implementations call helper functions but as these can't be in the same namespace they also have to be fully qualified!

  • Put specific tds from a table row into edit using jQuery (then update w/ ajax)

    - by bbqsauced
    I'm somewhat new to jQuery, so I could use some help here. This is my issue: I have a php script outputting a dynamic table. Each row has an "edit" button, plus some other fields. Only 3 of those need to be turned into an input box. The edit button should only put that specific row into "edit mode." I got as far as assigning each row a unique class by adding a number to the end of it. I have been able to use jQuery to change all of the rows into edit mode, but I need it to be specific to a row. An example row would have classes like name0, price0, and desc0. The next row would go on to classes name1, price1, and desc1 (for the fields that need changed). How can I reference these values and pass them to jQuery so it processes an event on just those elements?

  • Using an empty column as a divider in a JTable.

    - by Catalina Island
    I'm trying to use an empty column as a divider between pairs of columns in a JTable. Here's a picture and code for what I have so far. I know I can change the look using a custom TableCellRenderer. Before I go down that road, is there a better way to do this? Any ideas appreciated. import javax.swing.*; import javax.swing.table.*; public class TablePanel extends JPanel { public static void main(String[] args) { SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() { @Override public void run() { JFrame f = new JFrame("TablePanel"); f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.DISPOSE_ON_CLOSE); f.add(new TablePanel()); f.pack(); f.setVisible(true); } }); } public TablePanel() { TableModel dataModel = new MyModel(); JTable table = new JTable(dataModel); table.getColumnModel().getColumn(MyModel.DIVIDER).setMaxWidth(0); JScrollPane jsp = new JScrollPane(table); jsp.setVerticalScrollBarPolicy(JScrollPane.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_ALWAYS); this.add(jsp); } private static class MyModel extends AbstractTableModel { private static final int DIVIDER = 2; private final String[] names = { "A1", "A2", "", "B1", "B2" }; @Override public int getRowCount() { return 32; } @Override public int getColumnCount() { return names.length; } @Override public String getColumnName(int col) { if (col == DIVIDER) return ""; return names[col]; } @Override public Object getValueAt(int row, int col) { if (col == DIVIDER) return ""; return (row + 1) / 10.0; } @Override public Class<?> getColumnClass(int col) { if (col == DIVIDER) return String.class; return Number.class; } } }
