    I'm doing the simplest ajax request possible: public ActionResult SayHello() { return Content("YYAAAY"); } ////////// <div id="Div1"> <%= Ajax.ActionLink("SAY HELLO", "SayHello", new AjaxOptions { UpdateTargetId = "Div1" })%> </div> It works when I start an empty ASP.NET MVC project, but when I use it in my current project, it displays the whole page recursively instead of YYAAAY phrase only. Where might be the problem?

Preferably this would be done through an API and by exposing them through a custom secured webservice. I know Sitefinity can do this. Do you know if Umbraco DotNetNuke can do this? If yes, a link to some documentation of the API is appreciated!

    Hi Guys, I code in C# (ASP.NET) and am using Forms authentication. I would like to know which is the best method to change a user password without using the asp:ChangePassword control. I dont want to use the reset password method. I just want to grab the password i have inside my textbox and replace it with my older password.     Hi, In .NET is it possible to get the HttpContext of the current page from within an external class? So, for example in my page test1.aspx codebehind I've got: Dim blah As New FeedWriter() blah.Run() But inside FeedWriter.vb, can I get the HttpContext of test1.aspx? Or would I have to pass it in to Run()? (I'm unwilling to do the latter because FeedWriter implements an interface which will need to be re-written if it's to take arguments) Cheers, Matt

    Greetings, in my ASP.NET MVC application I've created a custom MembershipProvider. It works fine, however when user is successfully logged, I would like to create an Operator object and make it possible to access this object on every controller and view. I was thinking about session to do this but when session expires this object is null but user that had been logged using MembershipProvider is still logged in. Is there any way I can store my Operator object in MembershipProvider and access it on every controller and view I need?

    Hi there, I am currently building a webshop for my own where I want to increment the product-stock when the user fails to complete payment within 10 minutes after the customer placed the order. I want to gather information from this thread to make a design decision. I am using SQL Server 2008 and ASP.NET 3.5. Should I use a SQL Server Job who intervals check the orders which are not payed yet or are there better solutions to do this. Thanks in advance! Martijn

  • why does vb.net not support multiple inheritance?

    I've seen some discussion on why c# does not implement multiple inheritance but very little as to why it isn't supported in vb. I understand that both c# and vb are compiled down to intermediary language and so they both need to share similar restrictions. The lack of multiple inheritance in VB seems to have been given as one reason for the lack of the feature in dot net. Does anyone know why VB doesn't support multiple inheritance? I'm hoping for a bit of history lesson and discussion on why this was never considered for VB.
