I have this query in sql server 2000:
select pwdencrypt('AAAA')
which outputs an encrypted string of 'AAAA':
0x0100CF465B7B12625EF019E157120D58DD46569AC7BF4118455D12625EF019E157120D58DD46569AC7BF4118455D
How can I convert (decrypt) the output from its origin (which is 'AAAA')?
i am creating windows application .In this i have to subtract two dates .i subtract it successfully ,i used TimeSpan to get subtracted value.But when i insert it in SQl Server 2005 db, it inserted with starting date i.e. 1/1/1900 and the calculated difference
which format should i use to insert Time only?
Thanks in advance
Hi I am trying to make a simple search form that uses a startTime and endTime to specify a time range. The db has a datetime field time that is compared against.
So far when i try to use params[:startTime] in the controller I get an array of values which wont work with :conditions = ['time < ?', params[:endTime]]
Is there a simple solution to parse the form's datetime to SQL datetime?
I need to write a tool to clone a database, instead of detaching it and copying the .mdf and .ldf, wouldn't it be better to just back it up and restore a newly created db?
Is there a way using SQL to create a database from a .bak?
What is the best way of inserting a datetime value using a dynamic sql string, whilst at the same time being able to handle the possibility of the value being null?
The current statement inserts into a table from a select statement built using a string. The datetime value is stored in a parameter and the parameter is used in the select.
Like so:
set @execsql = 'Insert into ( start_date )
SELECT ( ''' + CAST(start_date as VARCHAR) + ''' + ')'
Why does SQL server 2008 always warn about needing to drop tables to rename columns? I was under impression this was not required unless it was a key. If I change a column from null to not null even if is not a key field it wants to drop table and all relations.
What is the best SQL query to remove any text within parenthesis in a mySQL database? I'd like something that works regardless of the position of the parenthesis in the text (beginning, middle, end, whatever). I don't care about keeping the text inside the parenthesis, just removing it.
Thanks!
Without hiding the Child object's reference to the Parent object, has anyone been able to use an XmlSerializer() object to move a Linq to SQL object to an XML document, or is the only appropriate way of handling this to create a custom serialization/deserialization class to handle moving the data to/from the xml document?
I don't like the idea of hiding the child object's reference to the parent object is why I'm asking.
Thx.
I am building a c# - linq - sql server winforms/asp.net application, accessing a database. I would like my business logic layer to be easily testable, and that means not littering it with Linq database queries everywhere. What design patterns/ best practices are available for the following use cases
- inserting/updating a new object
- searching for an object
- loading a bunch of related data into a sort of "presentation" object that could be displayed by various views ?
Is there a way in SQL Server to parition over a date range?
I'm looking for something along these lines:
SELECT ROW_NUMBER() OVER (PARTITION BY RANGE(DateTimeField) INTERVAL(1))
I want to group rows that are within one day of each other.
For some reason it takes 7 seconds to open a connection to a sql server database for the firt time, subsequent connections takes a second. any idea what could be the reason?
I'm using C# and asp.net
Its after compilation, i essence every time i restart the site, which means every time it needs to actualy create the "first" connection. i understand that setting up connection pooling has overhead, but i have never seen that i should take 7 second to set it up.
Iam quite new to functions in SQL and I would like to create a function to compare values in a MySQL table against previous and I am not sure how to do this.
For example (iId is the input value)
DECLARE pVal INT(20);
DECLARE val INT(20);
SELECT price INTO pVal FROM products WHERE Id=iId;
SELECT price FROM products;
IF price == pVal THEN
SET val = price;
END IF;
Thanks
Today was released SQL Server 2008 R2.
Was trying to find what is new (from the developer perspective), but the MS sites has all the PR blah, blah, blah.
There is something new to be aware?
Hi,
I had asked this question
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2442149/adding-more-attributes-to-linq-to-sql-entity
Now, when I add Browsable attribute to generated entity in designer,it works.But,when I use the MetaDataType approach,and add Browsable attribute in partial class,it does not work
"I added a MetaDataType class, and added browsable attribute to property,but seems to have no effect"
How can I translate this SQL into a named_scope? Also, I want the total comments param to be passed through a lambda.
"select users., count() as total_comments from users, comments where (users.id = comments.user_id) and (comments.public_comment = 1) and (comments.aasm_state = 'posted') and (comments.forum_user_id is null) group by users.id having total_comments 25"
In T-SQL, this is allowed:
DECLARE @SelectedValue int
SELECT @SelectedValue = MyIntField FROM MyTable WHERE MyPrimaryKeyField = 1
So, it's possible to get the value of a SELECT and stuff it in a variable (provided it's scalar, obviously).
If I put the same select logic in a stored procedure:
CREATE PROCEDURE GetMyInt
AS
SELECT MyIntField FROM MyTable WHERE MyPrimaryKeyField = 1
Can I get the output of this stored procedure and stuff it in a variable?
Something like:
DECLARE @SelectedValue int
SELECT @SelectedValue = EXEC GetMyInt
(I know the syntax above is not allowed because I tried it!)
I am working to make a basic file database, but I couldnt find the true codes. Can anyone help me to save an exe file to sql database after read, download and use when I need it? With Delphi
When I connect Access 2007 to SQL Server (whether by ADO recordset or by linked table) I no longer get check box lists (of available filter values) in the datasheet column filters.
Is this feature available only with MDB/ACCDB and/or DAO?
Good Morning,
I have connected to my SQL 2005 server - and have managed to list all of the databases on that server. Now I would like to run a check on each database to see if I have permission to view that database..
How would I go about this?
Many Thanks,
Joel
What is index in SQL? Can you explain or reference to understand clearly?
Where should I use an index?
I searched in Stack Overflow, but it is still not clear to me.
Hi,
I have a MS SQL query that is selecting a field and it is being chopped off for some reason it is cutting off text at 257 characters.
Is there some kind of default cut-off for retrieving results with MSSQL and PHP?
I'm honestly clueless as to why this is happening. ANY guidance would be greatly appreciated
