work on asp.net 08 C#.I would like to develop a web application that scan documents into the following format(pdf, tiff, jpg, gif.etc) .My scanned images/file will be at client computer.
We are using two load balancing server for asp.net site in that we have a functionality which will create a receipt of order in pdf using abcpdf component it was working fine without load balancing server and but when we move it to load balancing server it is giving errors like. A generic error occurred in GDI. I have given full rights to directory which is used but still there problem. Does anybody have a solutions for this.
I'm working on a web app that allows users to downloaded dynamically generated PDF files.
This works fine in IE8 and Firefox but fails in IE6 with Adobe Reader giving the message "there was an error opening this document. this file cannot be found"
If I save the file to disk first then it opens fine in Reader.
I've given the file a simple short filename, without spaces so not sure what else to try. Any suggestions are very welcome.
In the video/PDF from "Data pipelines with Google App Engine" Brett puts "now / 30" into the task name noting that he will explain the reason later, but somehow he never does. :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSDC_TU7rtc#t=41m35
task_name = '%s-%d-%d' % (sum_name, int(now / 30), index)
Do you have any idea about the reason? Does it have anything to do with the 7 day period in which one can't re-use task names?

Hi all,
is there any (opensource) asp.net implementation (in the form of an httphandler or other) for the following paper: http://www.cse.msu.edu/~alexliu/publications/Cookie/cookie.pdf
greetings,
Tim
I have generated many pdf files in memory and I want to compress them into one zip file before sending it as a email attachment. I have looked at Rubyzip and it does not allows me to create a zip file without saving it to disk (maybe I am wrong).
Is there any way I can compress those file without creating a temp file ?

My current powershell script:
$document = "C:\\test.doc"
$word = new-object -comobject word.application
$word.Visible = $false
$word.DisplayAlerts = "wdAlertsNone"
$word.AutomationSecurity = "msoAutomationSecurityForceDisable"
$doc = $word.Documents.Open($document)
$word.ActivePrinter = "\\http://ptr-server:631\pdf-printer"
$background = $false
$doc.PrintOut([ref]$background)
$doc.close([ref]$false)
$word.quit()
But it results in an alert box "The macros in this project are disabled. Please refer to the online help or documentation of the host application to determine how to enable macros."
How can I open the document without it running the AutoOpen macro or displaying any sort of dialog prompt?
Hi Guys,
I am just trying to test this.
And here is my command line:
aspnet_regiis.exe -pdf "connectionStrings" c:\web.config
And this is the error I got.
Error – "The configuration for physical path ‘C:\Web.Config’ cannot be opened.
And the permissions of that file is not read only.
Can anyone please suggest.
Hi,
I need to create some reports, in different formats (xls, pdf, rtf). I am currently using JasperReports, in conjunction with IReport. I have no major complaints about it (except for the cases when IReport messes up my xml files), but i've been having some problems with it, when exporting to xls files and with some "special" characters, such as '&'.
Is there a widely use alternative? Is JasperReports the right choice?
I've checked the Beamer class manual.pdf
I can't figure out how to change the identation bullet assigns to \itemize.
[This is kinda important, as I'm using 2 column slides, and I don't want beamer to steal too much horizontal space].
Thanks!
I am looking for a Component CMS solution that is compatible with IBM's DITA in terms of preserving the document hierarchy/structure created in DITA (ditamaps).
I am not necessarily looking for an open source solution.
Other requirements would be:
- file migration
- XML support (ingestion, editing, export)
- PDF support (publishing)
- Workflow management
- Localization support (managing versions across locales)
- Output tagging
I have designed the report in A4 size, When I export toPDF, the size fit well. However, when I export the report to Excel 2000/2003, the report cannot fit in a page. Could anyone tell me how to fix it ? Thanks
Hello,
The company I work for has started using Confluence for documenting software development and the associated processes. We are looking into using content created on the wiki to create a user manual, as both a PDF for hardcopy and HTML for a web based manual. I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions for this specific workflow?
Cheers.
i am wondering because i searched the pdf "xxx the definitive guide" and "beginning xxx" for the word "inheritance" but i didn't find anything? am i missing something? because i am doing a tablePerHierarchy inheritance with hibernate and mysql, does that become deprecated for some reason in xxx?
(replace xxx with the "not only sql" database you like)
in my portal i call a pdf file, path looks like
http://www.mysite.com/filespath/books/online_bliss_in_five_simple_steps_1339668056/live/online_dating_bliss_in_five_simple_steps_1339668056.php
for user acceptance i need to reduce this url. then i add a code in .htaccess file. after adding this line only a white page is displaying when i call my portal
the code is
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^book/([A-Za-z0-9-]+_.)/?$ /live/$1.php [NC,L]

I would like to generate a PDF or RTF document using iTextSharp library that can be copied to the clipboard, using the same code I use to generate the document on a file (FileStream).
This way my application would give the user two options: generate to a file or to the clipboard.
I just ran into an answer in which the author included a link to a PDF book that was licensed only to them. I'm pretty sure this is copyrighted material and the author does not want copies of the book to be freely available on the web.
What is the proper etiquette in this situation? Leave a comment? (I can't yet, I just joined) Mark as offensive? Contact a moderator?

hi
I have a File Uploader in my ASP.NET application Using C#, we can upload any type like images, documents, pdf etc.
I m storing it in the Filesystem and having only the Name of the File in DB.
My doubt is can we store the entire file, images in DB. State me Which is good practice and why we need to use it.
Either file System Storage or SQL DB Storage.
What are all the file formats supported by UIWebView?
In my testing, I found that it supports XLS, DOC, PPT, PDF but not XLSX, and DOCX, RTF.
It supports image files like, JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP, not sure about TIFF or
Exactly, what all types are supported is not clear...
The UIWebView documentation also doesn't state it clearly.
Could someone please help?
