  • How to read.table with "Hebrew" column names (in R)?

    - by Tal Galili
    Hi all, I am trying to read a .txt file, with Hebrew column names, but without success. I uploaded an example file to: http://www.talgalili.com/files/aa.txt And am trying the command: read.table("http://www.talgalili.com/files/aa.txt", header = T, sep = "\t") This returns me with: X.....ª X...ª...... X...œ.... 1 12 97 6 2 123 354 44 3 6 1 3 Instead of: ??? ????? ???? 12 97 6 123 354 44 6 1 3 My output for: l10n_info() Is: $MBCS [1] FALSE $`UTF-8` [1] FALSE $`Latin-1` [1] TRUE $codepage [1] 1252 And for: Sys.getlocale() Is: [1] "LC_COLLATE=English_United States.1252;LC_CTYPE=English_United States.1252;LC_MONETARY=English_United States.1252;LC_NUMERIC=C;LC_TIME=English_United States.1252" Can you suggest to me what to try and change to allow me to load the file correctly ? Update: Trying to use: read.table("http://www.talgalili.com/files/aa.txt",fileEncoding ="iso8859-8") Has resulted in: V1 1 ? Warning messages: 1: In read.table("http://www.talgalili.com/files/aa.txt", fileEncoding = "iso8859-8") : invalid input found on input connection 'http://www.talgalili.com/files/aa.txt' 2: In read.table("http://www.talgalili.com/files/aa.txt", fileEncoding = "iso8859-8") : incomplete final line found by readTableHeader on 'http://www.talgalili.com/files/aa.txt' While also trying this: Sys.setlocale("LC_ALL", "en_US.UTF-8") Or this: Sys.setlocale("LC_ALL", "en_US.UTF-8/en_US.UTF-8/C/C/en_US.UTF-8/en_US.UTF-8") Get's me this: [1] "" Warning message: In Sys.setlocale("LC_ALL", "en_US.UTF-8") : OS reports request to set locale to "en_US.UTF-8" cannot be honored Any suggestion or clarification will be appreciated. Best, Tal

  • Problem with bluetooth on android 2.1 (samsung spica i5700) where pairing works but connection does

    - by user319634
    I have a Samsung Spica i5700 which I already have updated to Android 2.1. I am using the phone with an application called Run.GPS (http://www.rungps.net). This application logs data such as GPS position, route, speed, bearing etc. It can also log heartrate provided the user has a Zephyr HxM bluetooth heart rate monitor ("HxM"), which I do have. I can pair the HxM to the phone through the standard bluetooth utility. I'm prompted for the PIN, which I enter and the device is shown as 'Paired but not connected'. In the Run.GPS application itself, I click on 'Connect Heartrate Monitor'. This times out after about 30 seconds and the error message is 'Could not connect to heartrate monitor. Please try other settings'. I used a friend's HTC Windows Mobile as a control device to see if the HxM works there. It does. The Run.GPS application automatically sets the baud rate (initially to 9600 IIRC, though the connection also worked with higher baud rates) and it is possible to choose between various COM ports as well as a .Net COM port. I did some testing on my Spica Android, to try to find out why the bluetooth connection doesn't work. Below are some log files that I connected over adb when I clicked on 'Connect to Heartrate Monitor' in the Run.GPS application. I would be interested in any tips (including if I'm posting to the wrong forum here ;-)) - whether or not it's possible to experiment with the baud rate in Android etc. I still don't know if the problem is with the Run.GPS application (I've posted already on the development forum there) or with Android 2.1. I checked out another application - Endomondo - which is also a sport tracking application which supports heartrate monitor only with the HxM. There, what looked like exactly the same error occurred - I clicked on 'Connect Zephyr HxM'. For a few seconds I was shown the 'Connecting...' status, but then it timed out into 'Not Connected'. I'm thus tending towards looking at Android for the problem. Here's the output of adb logcat while trying to connect ./adb logcat | grep Run.GPS D/WYNEX> (11551): Excute :: Run.GPS Trainer UV, (null) E/Run.GPS (11997): Cannot connect to BT device E/Run.GPS (11997): java.io.IOException: Service discovery failed E/Run.GPS (11997): at android.bluetooth.BluetoothSocket$SdpHelper.doSdp(BluetoothSocket.java:374) E/Run.GPS (11997): at android.bluetooth.BluetoothSocket.connect(BluetoothSocket.java:184) E/Run.GPS (11997): at ju.a(Unknown Source) E/Run.GPS (11997): at qk.j(Unknown Source) E/Run.GPS (11997): at fs.c(Unknown Source) E/Run.GPS (11997): at le.a(Unknown Source) E/Run.GPS (11997): at s.b(Unknown Source) E/Run.GPS (11997): at pb.a(Unknown Source) E/Run.GPS (11997): at as.a(Unknown Source) E/Run.GPS (11997): at am.b(Unknown Source) E/Run.GPS (11997): at gf.onTouchEvent(Unknown Source) E/Run.GPS (11997): at android.view.View.dispatchTouchEvent(View.java:3709) E/Run.GPS (11997): at android.view.ViewGroup.dispatchTouchEvent(ViewGroup.java:884) E/Run.GPS (11997): at android.view.ViewGroup.dispatchTouchEvent(ViewGroup.java:884) E/Run.GPS (11997): at com.android.internal.policy.impl.PhoneWindow$DecorView.superDispatchTouchEvent(PhoneWindow.java:1665) E/Run.GPS (11997): at com.android.internal.policy.impl.PhoneWindow.superDispatchTouchEvent(PhoneWindow.java:1107) E/Run.GPS (11997): at android.app.Activity.dispatchTouchEvent(Activity.java:2061) E/Run.GPS (11997): at com.android.internal.policy.impl.PhoneWindow$DecorView.dispatchTouchEvent(PhoneWindow.java:1649) E/Run.GPS (11997): at android.view.ViewRoot.handleMessage(ViewRoot.java:1694) E/Run.GPS (11997): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) E/Run.GPS (11997): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) E/Run.GPS (11997): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4363) E/Run.GPS (11997): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) E/Run.GPS (11997): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) E/Run.GPS (11997): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:860) E/Run.GPS (11997): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:618) E/Run.GPS (11997): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) E/Run.GPS (11997): Cannot connect to BT device E/Run.GPS (11997): java.io.IOException: Service discovery failed Here's the output of dmesg while trying to connect the heartrate monitor <4>[74726.239833] select 11691 (.serviceModeApp), adj 15, size 3205, to kill <4>[74726.240741] select 11739 (com.wssnps), adj 15, size 3207, to kill <4>[74726.246870] select 11750 (id.partnersetup), adj 15, size 3219, to kill <4>[74726.253390] select 11857 (p.bluetoothicon), adj 15, size 3299, to kill <4>[74726.259879] select 13131 (ndroid.settings), adj 15, size 4586, to kill <4>[74726.266372] send sigkill to 13131 (ndroid.settings), adj 15, size 4586 <7>[74733.945097] [BT] GPIO_BT_WAKE = 1 <7>[74733.945121] [BT] wake_lock(bt_wake_lock) <7>[74733.951799] [BT] GPIO_BT_HOST_WAKE = 1 <7>[74733.951822] [BT] wake_lock timeout = 5 sec <7>[74735.890196] [BT] GPIO_BT_HOST_WAKE = 0 <7>[74736.150987] [BT] GPIO_BT_HOST_WAKE = 1 <7>[74736.151009] [BT] wake_lock timeout = 5 sec <7>[74737.490185] [BT] GPIO_BT_HOST_WAKE = 0 <7>[74740.073913] [BT] GPIO_BT_HOST_WAKE = 1 <7>[74740.073948] [BT] wake_lock timeout = 5 sec <7>[74741.315336] [BT] GPIO_BT_HOST_WAKE = 0 <7>[74743.249747] [BT] GPIO_BT_HOST_WAKE = 1 <7>[74743.249768] [BT] wake_lock timeout = 5 sec <7>[74744.865099] [BT] GPIO_BT_HOST_WAKE = 0 <7>[74745.154487] [BT] GPIO_BT_HOST_WAKE = 1 <7>[74745.154509] [BT] wake_lock timeout = 5 sec <7>[74748.852534] [BT] GPIO_BT_HOST_WAKE = 0 <7>[74749.156256] [BT] GPIO_BT_HOST_WAKE = 1 <7>[74749.156278] [BT] wake_lock timeout = 5 sec <7>[74750.490018] [BT] GPIO_BT_HOST_WAKE = 0 <4>[74754.230424] select 11691 (.serviceModeApp), adj 15, size 3191, to kill <4>[74754.231326] select 11739 (com.wssnps), adj 15, size 3193, to kill <4>[74754.237473] select 11750 (id.partnersetup), adj 15, size 3205, to kill <4>[74754.243950] select 11857 (p.bluetoothicon), adj 15, size 3283, to kill <4>[74754.250452] select 13140 (com.svox.pico), adj 15, size 3465, to kill <4>[74754.256787] send sigkill to 13140 (com.svox.pico), adj 15, size 3465

  • CSS Dropdown Menu issues

    - by Simon Hume
    Can anyone help with a small problem. I've got a nice simple CSS dropdown menu http://www.cinderellahair.co.uk/new/CSSDropdown.html The problem I have is when you rollover a menu item that has children which are wider than the content, it pushes the whole menu right. Aside of shortening the child menu links down, is there any tweak I can make to my CSS to stop this happening? CSS Code: /* General */ #cssdropdown, #cssdropdown ul { list-style: none; } #cssdropdown, #cssdropdown * { padding: 0; margin: 0; } #cssdropdown {padding:43px 0px 0px 0px;} /* Head links */ #cssdropdown li.headlink { margin:0px 40px 0px -1px; float: left; background-color: #e9e9e9;} #cssdropdown li.headlink a { display: block; padding: 0px 0px 0px 5px; text-decoration:none; } #cssdropdown li.headlink a:hover { text-decoration:underline; } /* Child lists and links */ #cssdropdown li.headlink ul { display: none; text-align: left; padding:10px 0px 0px 0px; font-size:12px; float:left;} #cssdropdown li.headlink:hover ul { display: block; } #cssdropdown li.headlink ul li a { padding: 5px; height: 17px; } #cssdropdown li.headlink ul li a:hover { background-color: #333; } /* Pretty styling */ body { font-family:Georgia, "Times New Roman", Times, serif; font-size: 16px; } #cssdropdown a { color: grey; } #cssdropdown ul li a:hover { text-decoration: none; } #cssdropdown li.headlink { background-color: white; } #cssdropdown li.headlink ul { padding-bottom: 10px;} HTML: <ul id="cssdropdown"> <li class="headlink"><a href="http://www.cinderellahair.co.uk/new/index.php">HOME</a></li> <li class="headlink"><a href="http://www.cinderellahair.co.uk/new/gallery/gallery.php">GALLERY</a> <ul> <li><a href="http://amazon.com/">CELEBRITY</a></li> <li><a href="http://ebay.com/">BEFORE &amp; AFTER</a></li> <li><a href="http://craigslist.com/">HAIR TYPES</a></li> </ul> </li> <li class="headlink"><a href="http://www.cinderellahair.co.uk/new/about-cinderella-hair-extensions/about-us.php">ABOUT US</a> <ul> <li><a href="http://amazon.com/">WHY CHOOSE CINDERELLA</a></li> <li><a href="http://ebay.com/">TESTIMONIALS</a></li> <li><a href="http://craigslist.com/">MINI VIDEO CLIPS</a></li> <li><a href="http://craigslist.com/">OUR HAIR PRODUCTS</a></li> </ul> </li> <li class="headlink"><a href="http://www.cinderellahair.co.uk/new/news-and-offers/news.php">NEWS &amp; OFFERS</a> <ul> <li><a href="http://amazon.com/">VERA WANG FREE GIVEAWAY</a></li> <li><a href="http://ebay.com/">CINDERELLA ON TV</a></li> <li><a href="http://craigslist.com/">CINDERELLA IN THE PRESS</a></li> <li><a href="http://craigslist.com/">CINDRELLA NEWSLETTERS</a></li> </ul> </li> <li class="headlink"><a href="http://www.cinderellahair.co.uk/new/cinderella-salon/salon-finder.php">SALON FINDER</a></li> </ul> JS Code: $(document).ready(function(){ $('#cssdropdown li.headlink').hover( function() { $('ul', this).css('display', 'block'); }, function() { $('ul', this).css('display', 'none'); }); }); Full code is on the link above, just view source.

  • IBM Websphere on Windows- OutOfMemoryError: Failed to create a thread

    - by Kishnan
    I have a J2EE application running on an IBM Websphere Application Server on a Windows Operating System. Occasionally I see an OutOfMemoryError Exception with the following information in the javacore file. 1TISIGINFO Dump Event "systhrow" (00040000) Detail "java/lang/OutOfMemoryError":"Failed to create a thread: retVal -1073741830, errno 12" received Java is run with the following configurations: -Xms512m -Xmx1350m -Xscmx50M Analyzing the javacore file, the number of threads are just 124. Analyzing the heap dump, the memory occupied by the heap is about 500Mb. Given the relatively normal number of threads and heap size a lot lower than the maximum, I am trying to figure out why I see this error? I´m not sure if this helps, but here is the top section of the javacore file... • Why is ListBoxFor not selecting items, but ListBox is?

    - by Roger Rogers
    I have the following code in my view: <%= Html.ListBoxFor(c => c.Project.Categories, new MultiSelectList(Model.Categories, "Id", "Name", new List<int> { 1, 2 }))%> <%= Html.ListBox("MultiSelectList", new MultiSelectList(Model.Categories, "Id", "Name", new List<int> { 1, 2 }))%> The only difference is that the first helper is strongly typed (ListBoxFor), and it fails to show the selected items (1,2), even though the items appear in the list, etc. The simpler ListBox is working as expected. I'm obviously missing something here. I can use the second approach, but this is really bugging me and I'd like to figure it out. For reference, my model is: public class ProjectEditModel { public Project Project { get; set; } public IEnumerable<Project> Projects { get; set; } public IEnumerable<Client> Clients { get; set; } public IEnumerable<Category> Categories { get; set; } public IEnumerable<Tag> Tags { get; set; } public ProjectSlide SelectedSlide { get; set; } } Update I just changed the ListBox name to Project.Categories (matching my model) and it now FAILS to select the item. <%= Html.ListBox("Project.Categories", new MultiSelectList(Model.Categories, "Id", "Name", new List<int> { 1, 2 }))%> I'm obviously not understanding the magic that is happening here. Update 2 Ok, this is purely naming, for example, this works... <%= Html.ListBox("Project_Tags", new MultiSelectList(Model.Tags, "Id", "Name", Model.Project.Tags.Select(t => t.Id)))%> ...because the field name is Project_Tags, not Project.Tags, in fact, anything other than Tags or Project.Tags will work. I don't get why this would cause a problem (other than that it matches the entity name), and I'm not good enough at this to be able to dig in and find out.

  • Voice Recognition Connection problem

    - by user244190
    I,m trying to work through and test a Voice Recognition example based on the VoiceRecognition.java example at http://developer.android.com/resources/samples/ApiDemos/src/com/example/android/apis/app/VoiceRecognition.html but when click on the button to create the activity, I get a dialog that says Connection problem. My Manifest file is using the Internet Permission, and I understand it passes the to the Google Servers. Do I need to do anything else to use this. Code below UPDATE 2: Thanks to Steve, I have been able to install the USB Driver and debug the app directly on my Droid. Here is the LogCat output from clicking on my mic button: 03-08 18:36:45.686: INFO/ActivityManager(1017): Starting activity: Intent { act=android.speech.action.RECOGNIZE_SPEECH cmp=com.google.android.voicesearch/.IntentApiActivity (has extras) } 03-08 18:36:45.686: WARN/ActivityManager(1017): Activity is launching as a new task, so cancelling activity result. 03-08 18:36:45.787: DEBUG/NetworkLocationProvider(1017): setMinTime: 120000 03-08 18:36:45.889: INFO/ActivityManager(1017): Displayed activity com.google.android.voicesearch/.IntentApiActivity: 135 ms (total 135 ms) 03-08 18:36:45.905: DEBUG/NetworkLocationProvider(1017): onCellLocationChanged [802,0,0,4192,3] 03-08 18:36:45.951: INFO/MicrophoneInputStream(1429): Starting voice recognition with audio source VOICE_RECOGNITION 03-08 18:36:45.998: DEBUG/AudioHardwareMot(990): Codec sampling rate already 16000 03-08 18:36:46.092: INFO/RecognitionService(1429): ssfe url=http://www.google.com/m/voice-search 03-08 18:36:46.092: WARN/RecognitionService(1429): required parameter 'calling_package' is missing in IntentAPI request 03-08 18:36:46.115: DEBUG/AudioHardwareMot(990): Codec sampling rate already 16000 03-08 18:36:46.131: WARN/InputManagerService(1017): Starting input on non-focused client com.android.internal.view.IInputMethodClient$Stub$Proxy@4487d240 (uid=10090 pid=3132) 03-08 18:36:46.131: WARN/IInputConnectionWrapper(3132): showStatusIcon on inactive InputConnection 03-08 18:36:46.248: WARN/MediaPlayer(1429): info/warning (1, 44) 03-08 18:36:46.334: DEBUG/dalvikvm(3206): GC freed 3682 objects / 369416 bytes in 293ms 03-08 18:36:46.358: WARN/MediaPlayer(1429): info/warning (1, 44) 03-08 18:36:46.412: WARN/MediaPlayer(1429): info/warning (1, 44) 03-08 18:36:46.444: WARN/MediaPlayer(1429): info/warning (1, 44) 03-08 18:36:46.475: WARN/MediaPlayer(1429): info/warning (1, 44) 03-08 18:36:46.506: WARN/MediaPlayer(1429): info/warning (1, 44) 03-08 18:36:46.514: INFO/MediaPlayer(1429): Info (1,44) 03-08 18:36:46.514: INFO/MediaPlayer(1429): Info (1,44) 03-08 18:36:46.514: INFO/MediaPlayer(1429): Info (1,44) 03-08 18:36:46.514: INFO/MediaPlayer(1429): Info (1,44) 03-08 18:36:46.514: INFO/MediaPlayer(1429): Info (1,44) 03-08 18:36:46.514: INFO/MediaPlayer(1429): Info (1,44) The line that concerns me is the warning of the missing parameter calling-package.   • Using PartCover 2.3 with .NET 4.0 runtime?

    - by Roger Lipscombe
    I've successfully got PartCover 2.3 working with VS 2008 on my 64-bit machine. I'm now trying to get it to work with VS 2010 and NUnit 2.5.3. I've got NUnit using the correct CLR version, but I can't get PartCover to produce any output. All I get is an "empty" report XML file: <PartCoverReport date="2010-03-30T16:09:05.1009099+01:00" /> How do I get PartCover 2.3 (or 2.2, I guess) to work with NUnit 2.5.3 on .NET 4.0?

  • PHP stream_context_set_option SSL certificate as string

    - by Roger Thomas
    I've got a weird issue. Basically, I need to do this: $handle = stream_context_create(); stream_context_set_option($handle , 'ssl', 'local_cert', '/tmp/cert'); However. The certificate is not held as a file within the server. Rather it's an encrypted string held in a clustered database environment. So instead of the certificate being a file name pointer, its the physical content of the certificate. So instead of using the file name, I need to specify the content of the certificate instead. For example: $cert = '-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----.... upWbwmdMd61SjNCdtOpZcNW3YmzuT96Fr7GUPiDQ -----END CERTIFICATE-----'; Does anyone have any idea whatsoever how on earth I can do this? I'm scratching my head over this problem, but my gut instinct says it is doable. Thanks in advance everyone!

  • How to show / hide all tags with the same class with Java Script?

    - by Roger
    I need a javascrit function that shows/hides all span tags with a specific class (t1, t2 or t3) in a HTML document. Example: <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- function sh(t){//show_hide(text number class) //??? } //--> </script> <div id='C'> <p> <span class="P"> Normal allways visible text. <span class="t1">Text 1</span> <span class="t2">Text 2</span> <span class="t3">Text 3</span> Normal allways visible text. <span> </p> <p> <span class="P"> Normal allways visible text. <span class="t1">Text 1</span> <span class="t2">Text 2</span> <span class="t3">Text 3</span> Normal (allways visible text. <span> </p> <p><span>Normal allways visible text.</span></p> </div> The function sh (show hide) could be trigerred like this: <p>Show: <a href="#" onclick="sh('t1');">text 1</a> | <a href="#" onclick="sh(t2);">text 2</a> | <a href="#" onclick="sh(t3);">text 3</a></p> An important detail is that when the span class t1 is visible, all other span class t2 and t3 are hidden. The default is to have all span class t1 visible at the first load. Till now, the only solution I found was this one (a bit too complicated though). Thanks a lot. The folks are using these links to help visualize the effect of the code: http://jsfiddle.net/v3vWM/ http://jsfiddle.net/tEUYC/ http://jsfiddle.net/RpVUN/

  • PHP Explode with an Unicode character as separator

    - by Young Roger
    XPDFs pdftotext converts pdf to text and outputs it at command line level. If needed it inserts PageBreaks between the pages as specified in TextOutputDev.cc: eopLen = uMap->mapUnicode(0x0c, eop, sizeof(eop)); This Unicode symbol is encoding independent, -enc ASCII7 wouldn't change it. I'm currently willing to use PHP for converting and splitting the PDF file into several TXT pages for database storage. However, the following function does work, but takes twice as long as a conversion of the whole book in one time. for($i = 1; $i <= $pages[0]; $i++) $page[$i] = shell_exec('/usr/bin/pdftotext sample.pdf -f '.$i.' -l '.$i.' -'); How am I supposed to explode(0x0c, $wholePDF) with an Unicode character as separator? Currently, page[$i] doesn't seem to retrieve those weird Unicode PageBreak characters from the shell_exec(). I tried several headers for encoding (UTF-8 especially) but it didn't work out so far.

  • jquery ui autocomplete problem

    - by Roger
    Hi, i've got a select box containing countries, and when one is selected, i want my autocomplete data for the city field to load via ajax. here's my code: // Sets up the autocompleter depending on the currently // selected country $(document).ready(function() { var cache = getCities(); $('#registration_city_id').autocomplete( { source: cache } ); cache = getCities(); // update the cache array when a different country is selected $("#registration_country_id").change(function() { cache = getCities(); }); }); /** * Gets the cities associated with the currently selected country */ function getCities() { var cityId = $("#registration_country_id :selected").attr('value'); return $.getJSON("/ajax/cities/" + cityId + ".html"); } This returns the following json: ["Aberdare","Aberdeen","Aberystwyth","Abingdon","Accrington","Airdrie","Aldershot","Alfreton","Alloa","Altrincham","Amersham","Andover","Antrim","Arbroath","Ardrossan","Arnold","Ashford","Ashington","Ashton-under-Lyne","Atherton","Aylesbury","Ayr",... ] But, it doesn't work. When i start typing in the city box, the style changes so the autocompleter is doing something, but it won't display this data. If i hard-code the above it works. Can anyone see what's wrong? Thanks

  • SCM/VCS: Tracking directories

    - by Roger Pate
    When I first found out that Mercurial tracked files and not directories, I was a bit disappointed. (This means you can't represent an empty directory in the repo.) However, it doesn't seem to be an issue in practice, and makes some things a tad easier for me. How about other SCM systems? (Edit this post to add them.) What advantages or disadvantages have you found by not tracking directories? (Each one separately in an answer, please.) Do track directories: Subversion Bazaar/bzr (add one!) Do NOT track directories: Mercurial/hg git (add one!)

  • Ivy and Snapshots (Nexus)

    - by Uberpuppy
    Hey folks, I'm using ant, ivy and nexus repo manager to build and store my artifacts. I managed to get everything working: dependency resolution and publishing. Until I hit a problem... (of course!). I was publishing to a 'release' repo in nexus, which is locked to 'disable redeploy' (even if you change the setting to 'allow redeploy' (really lame UI there imo). You can imagine how pissed off I was getting when my changes weren't updating through the repo before I realised that this was happening. Anyway, I now have to switch everything to use a 'Snapshot' repo in nexus. Problem is that this messes up my publish. I've tried a variety of things, including extensive googling, and haven't got anywhere whatsoever. The error I get is a bad PUT request, error code 400. Can someone who has got this working please give me a pointer on what I'm missing. Many thanks, Alastair fyi, here's my config: Note that I have removed any attempts at getting snapshots to work as I didn't know what was actually (potentially) useful and what was complete guff. This is therefore the working release-only setup. Also, please note that I've added the XXX-API ivy.xml for info only. I can't even get the xxx-common to publish (and that doesn't even have dependencies). • Buildr, Gradle or wait for Maven 3?

    - by Sten Roger
    I am really tired of struggling with Maven 2 all the time. Build tools should not be in the way. Recently I have been looking at Buildr and Gradle. Maven 3 seems to fix some of the struggles. So, what should I go for now? Buildr? Gradle? Or wait a year for Maven 3?

  • Cannot add namespace prefix to children using XSL

    - by Erdal
    I checked many answers here and I think I am almost there. One thing that is bugging me (and for some reason my peer needs it) follows: I have the following input XML: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <MyRoot> <MyRequest CompletionCode="0" CustomerID="9999999999"/> <List TotalList="1"> <Order CustomerID="999999999" OrderNo="0000000001" Status="Shipped"> <BillToAddress ZipCode="22221"/> <ShipToAddress ZipCode="22222"/> <Totals Tax="0.50" SubTotal="10.00" Shipping="4.95"/> </Order> </List> <Errors/> </MyRoot> I was asked to produce this: <ns:MyNewRoot xmlns:ns="http://schemas.foo.com/response" xmlns:N1="http://schemas.foo.com/request" xmlns:N2="http://schemas.foo.com/details"> <N1:MyRequest CompletionCode="0" CustomerID="9999999999"/> <ns:List TotalList="1"> <N2:Order CustomerID="999999999" Level="Preferred" Status="Shipped"> <N2:BillToAddress ZipCode="22221"/> <N2:ShipToAddress ZipCode="22222"/> <N2:Totals Tax="0.50" SubTotal="10.00" Shipping="4.95"/> </N2:Order> </ns:List> <ns:Errors/> </ns:MyNewRoot> Note the children of the N2:Order also needs N2: prefix as well as the ns: prefix for the rest of the elements. I use the XSL transformation below: <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:output omit-xml-declaration="yes" indent="yes"/> <xsl:template match="@* | node()"> <xsl:copy> <xsl:apply-templates select="@* | node()"/> </xsl:copy> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="/MyRoot"> <MyNewRoot xmlns="http://schemas.foo.com/response" xmlns:N1="http://schemas.foo.com/request" xmlns:N2="http://schemas.foo.com/details"> <xsl:apply-templates/> </MyNewRoot> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="/MyRoot/MyRequest"> <xsl:element name="N1:{name()}" namespace="http://schemas.foo.com/request"> <xsl:copy-of select="namespace::*"/> <xsl:apply-templates select="@* | node()"/> </xsl:element> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="/MyRoot/List/Order"> <xsl:element name="N2:{name()}" namespace="http://schemas.foo.com/details"> <xsl:copy-of select="namespace::*"/> <xsl:apply-templates select="@* | node()"/> </xsl:element> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> This one doesn't process the ns (I couldn't figure this out). When I process thru the above the XSL transformation with AltovaXML I end up with below: <MyNewRoot xmlns="http://schemas.foo.com/response" xmlns:N1="http://schemas.foo.com/request" xmlns:N2="http://schemas.foo.com/details"> <N1:MyRequest CompletionCode="0" CustomerID="9999999999"/> <List xmlns="" TotalList="1"> <N2:Order CustomerID="999999999" Level="Preferred" Status="Shipped"> <BillToAddress ZipCode="22221"/> <ShipToAddress ZipCode="22222"/> <Totals Tax="0.50" SubTotal="10.00" Shipping="4.95"/> </N2:Order> </List> <Errors/> </MyNewRoot> Note that N2: prefix for the children of Order is not there after the XSL transformation. Also additional xmlns="" in the Order header (for some reason). I couldn't figure out putting the ns: prefix for the rest of the elements (like Errors and List). First of all, why would I need to put the prefix for the children if the parent already has it. Doesn't the parent namespace dictate the children nodes/attribute namespaces? Secondly, I want to add the prefixes in the above XML as expected, how can I do that with XSL?

  • SmartGWT alternatives

    - by Roger
    I have been using SmartGWT but have run into trouble mixing SmartGWT with other frameworks such as Wicket. Infact it has been a bit of a disaster and I regret going with it in the first place. I do not want this question to turn into any type of flame war, so therefore would just like people to list alternatives and their experience with those alternatives.

  • Do MSDN subscriptions count as licenses for the purposes of upgrade pricing?

    - by Roger Lipscombe
    To qualify for upgrade pricing of Expression Studio... You must be a licensed user of one of the following products to be eligible for the upgrade versions. Any Microsoft® Expression product Any Adobe Creative Suite product Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 or later I've got a boxed, retail copy of Visual Studio 2003, so it appears I've missed that particular boat. On the other hand, I've got an MSDN Professional subscription, which includes Visual Studio. Does this copy of Visual Studio entitle me to upgrade pricing on Expression Studio? Given that you can't get Visual Studio without an MSDN subscription, I figure it does, but I can't find anything definitive.

  • Linq to SQL case sensitivity causing problems

    - by Roger Lipscombe
    I've seen this question, but that's asking for case-insensitive comparisons when the database is case-sensitive. I'm having a problem with the exact opposite. I'm using SQL Server 2005, my database collation is set to Latin1_General_CI_AS. I've got a table, "User", like this: CREATE TABLE [dbo].[User] ( [Id] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [Name] [nvarchar](max) NOT NULL, CONSTRAINT [PK_Example] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ( [Id] ASC ) ) And I'm using the following code to populate it: string[] names = new[] { "Bob", "bob", "BoB" }; using (MyDataContext dataContext = new AppCompatDataContext()) { foreach (var name in names) { string s = name; if (dataContext.Users.SingleOrDefault(u => u.Name == s) == null) dataContext.Users.InsertOnSubmit(new User { Name = name }); } dataContext.SubmitChanges(); } When I run this the first time, I end up with "Bob", "bob" and "BoB" in the table. When I run it again, I get an InvalidOperationException: "Sequence contains more than one element", because the query against the database returns all 3 rows, and... SELECT * FROM [User] WHERE Name = 'bob' ... is case-insensitive. That is: when I'm inserting rows, Linq to SQL appears to use C# case-sensitive comparisons. When I query later, Linq to SQL uses SQL Server case-insensitive comparisons. I'd like the initial insert to use case-insensitive comparisons, but when I change the code as follows... if (dataContext.Users.SingleOrDefault(u => u.Name.Equals(s, StringComparison.InvariantCultureIgnoreCase) ) == null) ... I get a NotSupportedException: "Method 'Boolean Equals(System.String, System.StringComparison)' has no supported translation to SQL." Question: how do I get the initial insert to be case-insensitive or, more precisely, match the collation of the column in the database? Update: This doesn't appear to be my problem. My problem appears to be that SingleOrDefault doesn't actually look at the pending inserts at all.
