  • jquery ajax vs browser url

    - by danwoods
Hello all, I'm trying to use youtube's api to bring back a listing of a user's videos. The request url looks something like: http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/users/username/uploads with 'username' being the correct username. This bring back the appropriate url in the browser. However when I try to access that url via jQuery's $.ajax or $.get functions, using something like: $.ajax({ //set parameters url: "http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/users/username/uploads", type: "GET", //on success success: function (data) { alert("xml successfully captured\n\n" + data); }, //on error error:function (XMLHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown, data){ alert(" We're sorry, there seem to be a problem with our connection to youtube.\nYou can access all our videos here: http://www.youtube.com/user/username"); alert(data); } }); $.get("http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/users/username/uploads", function(data){ alert("Data Loaded: " + data); }); I get an empty document returned. Any ideas why this is?

  • jQuery default/placeholder input text and problems with saved information

    - by user318106
Hey Guys, I'm new to jQuery and have an annoying problem. I have some login fields that are filled with default text when the field is empty and then removed when clicked. My problem is that when the user has their username/password saved (with browser), if they return to the page the login fields are filled with the users saved input as well as the default input. $('#login input.text').each(function(i, field) { field = $(field); if (field.val().length 0) { field.prev().css('display', 'none'); } field.focus(function() { field.prev().css('display', 'none'); }).blur(function() { if (field.val() == '') field.prev().css('display', 'block'); }); })

  • jquery atrr("href") is not consistent ..in sharepoint

    - by alienavatar
Hi all I have a jquery function(This is not written by me anyway still I am learning). In that we are replacing urls using f.attr("href") in several places. I am not understanding that from where this href value will be binded. And why the value(f.attr("href")) is changing place to place. I mean to say it is having some value @ one location and if I give the same it is giving me different value at other location. I read in article that The .attr() method gets the attribute value for only the first element in the matched set..What is the matched set means

  • In an ASP.NET MVC site, where would the JQuery code go?

    - by Maxim Z.
I'm just getting started with ASP.NET MVC. I'm going to be using JQuery on the website I'm making, but I'm not really sure about one thing: where would JQuery code be placed? This concerns two things: Where do I import the JQuery JavaScript file? (I've been thinking that the Master page would be a good place to do this; am I right, or do I have to import it in each view?) Should all my JQuery code be referenced from the Master page (i.e., I store my code that uses JQuery in a separate .js file and reference it in a <script> tag)? Thanks in advance.

  • Jquery load() help

    - by mtwallet
Hi. I am creating a portfolio page for m personal site. I have a slider with approx 20 anchors that link to projects I have worked on, each one contains a client logo that when clicked should load some html content then fade that content into a container div on the same page. I have been advised to use the JQuery method load() which seems straight forward. The question I have is do I have to repeat the following code for each of the 20 anchors as the url is different for each one or is there a more efficient way? $('a#project1').click(function() { $('#work').load('ajax/project1.html'); } Also would I have to use the unload() method first to ensure the div I am loading into is empty? Many thanks in advance.

  • Animate function jQuery

    - by Antonio Pitasi
I'm new here and I have a problem the jQuery's function "animate" function myFunction(newpage) { $('#loader').animate({opacity: 0.0}, 400, 'linear', function(){ // callback of fadeOut() $(this).load(newpage + ".php #toload", function(){ // callback of load() $('#loader').animate({opacity: 100.0}, 400, 'linear', function(){ //callback of fadeIn() // (not relevant for my problem, I think) $.getScript("js/test.js"); }); }); }); } My problem is: the first "animate" works like a charm but the second load the new content correctly, without the animation (a simple fadeIn). Anyone can help me? Thanks in advice! P.S. Sorry for my english

  • Hiding Options of a Select with JQuery

    - by Syed Abdul Rahman
Okay, let's start with an example. Keep in mind, this is only an example. <select id = "selection1">     <option value = "1" id = "1">Number 1</option>     <option value = "2" id = "2">Number 2</option>     <option value = "3" id = "3">Number 3</option> </select> Now from here, we have a dropdown with 3 options. What I want to do now is to hide an option. Adding style = "display:none" will not help. The option would not appear in the dropdownlist, but using the arrow keys, you can still select it. Essentially, it does exactly what the code says. It isn't displayed, and it stops there. A JQuery function of $("#1").hide() will not work. Plus, I don't only want to hide the option, I want to completely remove it. Any possibility on doing so? Do I have to use parent/sibling/child elements? If so, I'm still not sure how. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.           Another question - It's related Ok, so I found out that there is a .remove() available in JQuery. Works well. But what if I want to bring it back? if(condition)     {     $(this).remove();     } I can loops this. Shouldn't be complicated. But the thing of which I am trying to do is this: Maximum Capacity of Class: (Input field here) Select Room: (Dropdown here) What I'd like for it to do is to update is Dropdown using a function such as .change() or .keyup. I could create the dropdown only after something is typed. At a change or a keyup, execute the dropdown accordingly. But what I am doing is this: $roomarray = mysql_query("SELECT *     FROM         (         SELECT *,         CASE         WHEN type = 'Classroom' THEN 1         WHEN type = 'Computer laboratory' THEN 2         WHEN type = 'Lecture Hall' THEN 3         WHEN type = 'Auditorium' THEN 4         END AS ClassTypeValue         FROM rooms         ) t     ORDER BY ClassTypeValue, maxppl, roomID"); echo "<select id = \"room\">"; while ($rooms = mysql_fetch_array($roomarray)) { ?> <option value=<?php echo $rooms['roomID']; ?> id=<?php echo $rooms['roomID']; ?>><?php echo $rooms['type']; echo "&nbsp;"; echo $rooms['roomID']; echo "&nbsp;("; echo $rooms['maxppl']; echo ")"; ?></option> <?php } echo "</select>"; Yes, I know it is very messy. I plan to change it later on. But the issue now is this: Can I toggle the removal of the options according to what has been typed? Is it possible to do so with a dropdown made from a loop? Because I sure as hell can't keep executing SQL Queries. Or is that even an option? Because if it's possible, I still think it's a bad one.

  • JQuery/JavaScript div tag "containment" approach/algorithm?

    - by Pete Alvin
Background: I've created an online circuit design application where div tags are containers that contain smaller div containers and so forth. Question: For any particular div tag I need to quickly identify if it contains other div tags (that may in turn contain other div tags). I've searched JQuery and I don't see any built-in routine for this. Does anyone know of an algorithm that's quicker than O(n^2)? Seems like I have to walk the list of div tags in an outer loop (n) and have an inner loop (another n) to compare against all other div tags and do a "containment test" (position, width, height), building a list of contained div tags. That's n-squared. Then I have to build a list of all nested div tags by concatenating contained lists. So the total would be O(n^2)+n. There must be a better way?

  • ASP MVC Populate drop down list on jQuery add table row

    - by Jacob Huggart
I have a page with several drop down lists that all have the same contents. The page starts out with only three ddls, but more need to be added based on user input. There is also other information associated with the drop down lists that is all in a table. So, when the user clicks a link I add a new row of textboxes and drop down lists to a table. When I add a row to my table, the new drop down lists are empty because there is no view data associated with them. How can I use ajax or jquery to pull the viewdata that I need to populate new drop down lists?

  • jQuery.load and form elements

    - by Jez
Is jQuery's .load() supposed to be able to load elements? Because it seems to be stripping them out. So I have some code like: var $dialogContents = $('<div></div>').load($link.attr('href') + ' #divDlgContent', function() { ... } and when the $dialogcontents loads, I return some content with a inside the DIV with the id 'divDlgContent'. Although the rest of the HTML is loaded, the tags are stripped out. Is this by design, and is there a way I can load elements this way?

  • jQuery + Validation plugin: add/remove class to/from element's parent

    - by FreekOne
Hi guys, I'm working with the jQuery Validation plugin and I wrote the following code which adds a class to the element's parent if not valid (as well as inserting the actual error message at a particular location within the parent): errorPlacement: function(error, element) { element.parent().addClass('error'); error.insertBefore(element.parent().children("br")); } This works, however, if a field's content is corrected and becomes valid, the class obviously doesn't get removed from its parent (actually, neither does the error element, instead it just gets a display: none; CSS property). How can I check if an element becomes valid and remove its parent class if so ? Any help would be much appreciated, thank you !

  • jQuery: Check whether val() has a specific value or not upon form submit

    - by Staffan Estberg
Hi, I'm trying to check whether val() has a specific value or not inside a form, if so deleting the contents / preventing the form being submitted depending on if both fields are filled in (stringOne and stringTwo). There's a default text for each input field, the first being "Namn, telefonnr, sökord" and the second "Område, plats, ort". If a user only fills in the first field the second must be cleared before the form string is passed on and vice versa. Like so - // "This" refers to the form's submit button if (($(this).siblings('input.stringOne').val("Namn, telefonnr, sökord")) && ($(this).siblings('input.stringTwo').val("Område, plats, ort"))) { return false; // If nothing's filled in, then do not submit } else { // If either field is not filled in, clear it if ($(this).siblings('input.stringOne').val("Namn, telefonnr, sökord")) { $(this).siblings('input.stringOne').val() == ''; } if ($(this).siblings('input.stringTwo').val("Område, plats, ort")) { $(this).siblings('input.stringTwo').val() == ''; } } jQuery version 1.2.6.

  • Jquery SimpleModal flickers in Firefox

    - by Obay
    I'm using SimpleModal plugin for Jquery and I have a weird problem with Firefox ( other browsers work fine: Chrome, Safari, Opera, IE). What happens is when I click on the button that launches the modal dialog, before showing the modal (and the fadeIn of the overlay), there is a quick "flicker", less than half a second. (It's longer on my slower PC). Weird thing is, it didn't happen in Firefox 3.5.2, but when I upgraded to 3.6.3, I got the flicker. Any ideas? Here is my code: $("#popup").modal({ onOpen: function (dialog) { dialog.data.show(); dialog.container.show(); dialog.overlay.fadeIn('fast'); }, onClose: function (dialog) { dialog.data.hide(); dialog.container.hide(); dialog.overlay.fadeOut('fast', function() { $.modal.close(); }); } });

  • How do you make an image opened in colorbox scrollable

    - by nicholas.alipaz
I would like my images that I open in colorbox to be displayed fullsize with no resizing applied to them and then apply scrollbars to allow for viewing the larger images. Some of my images are quite tall and things get pixelated when resized down. Currently colorbox just resizes my images down to the size of the available height/width. Is there a way to make all images display fullsize with overflow scrollable in colorbox? I am linking directly to an image: <a href="/myimage.png" title="My Image" class="colorbox imagefield imagefield-imagelink imagefield-field_portfolio_screenshot initColorbox-processed cboxElement" rel="gallery-12"> <img src="/thumb/myimage.png" alt="image" title="My Image" class="imagecache imagecache-portfolio_screenshot_thumb" height="50" width="50"> </a>

  • jQuery not refreshing tabs content in IE

    - by iddimu
Hi all! I have a page that is using jQuery tabs. Within one of my tabs I have a div that contains a form (initially hidden) that I want to use to add content to the tab. What I have works perfectly in Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. But, in IE 7 the tab will not refresh. The post works and the data gets added to the database, but it simply will not show the new content after submitting it. I don't think it matters - but, just for information I am using the Codeigniter PHP framework as well. Here is my javascript: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ // initialize the addChild form as hidden until user requests it open $('#addChild').hide(); // open the form $('#openDialog').click( function(){ $('#addChild').slideToggle(); return false; }); // close the form $('#closeDialog').click( function(){ $('#addChild').slideToggle(); return false; }); // submit the form $('#frmAddChild').submit( function(){ $('#addChild').slideToggle(); $.ajax({ url: '/children/add', type: 'POST', data: $('#frmAddChild').serialize() //cache: false }); //reload the children tab $('#tabs').tabs('load',3); return false; }); }); </script> And, here is my PHP/HTML: <?php // initialize the elements of the form $frmAddChild = array( 'name' => 'frmAddChild', 'id' => 'frmAddChild', 'method' => 'post' ); $child_name = array( 'name' => 'child_name', 'id' => 'child_name', ); $child_dob = array( 'name' => 'child_dob', 'id' => 'child_dob' ); $btnOpenDialog = array( 'name' => 'openDialog', 'id' => 'openDialog', 'value' => 'true', 'content' => 'Add Child' ); $btnCloseDialog = array( 'name' => 'closeDialog', 'id' => 'closeDialog', 'value' => 'true', 'content' => 'Cancel' ); // button that shows the drop down to add echo form_button($btnOpenDialog); ?> <div id="addChild" title="Add Child"> <?php echo form_open('children/add/',$frmAddChild); ?> <table> <tr> <td> <?php echo form_label('Child\'s Name', 'child_name'); ?>: </td> <td> <?php echo form_input($child_name); ?> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <?php echo form_label('Date of Birth','child_dob'); ?>: </td> <td> <?php echo form_input($child_dob); ?> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" align="right"> <?php echo form_submit('submit', 'Add'); ?> <?php echo form_button($btnCloseDialog); ?> </td> </tr> </table> <?php echo form_close(); ?> </div> Does anyone have any ideas how I can get this working correctly in IE? Also, if anyone has any comments about how I have things structured, please let me know. I'm new to Codeigniter and I am by no means a javascript or jQuery expert. Thanks for your help!

  • jQuery - iGoogle style interface

    - by samhamilton
Hi all, I'm currently working on developing a customizable website layout using jQuery, so I can drag, drop, add and remove blocks of content... much like the iGoogle interface. I have my blocks dragging and dropping working with 3 columns of content My question is to do with adding and removing blocks If I use hide(), I can simply hide and show the blocks. If I use remove, I would have to append the list of blocks to load in a new block into a column. I'm not sure which is the best approach to take. I'd be grateful for any advice on best practise, i.e. to hide() or remove() and any other advice on building this kind of interface. Thank, Sam.

  • JQuery Tooltip and Scrollable Fix

    - by KrippledShark
I have set up the navigation on my site using a scrollable div created with Flowplayer's JQuery tools. I also want to add a tooltip to the individual images within the scrollable div. The problem is the tooltip needs to appear outside of the div. I can adjust the height of the div so you can see the tooltip, but the tooltip is still constrained inside another div. Here is the link to my code. http://staging.asla.org/sustainablesites/TestAGAIN.html Is there a way to make this tooltip (div) appear out of it's containing divs?

  • Cross-Browser jQuery text-zoom implementation

    - by JMC Creative
I've got some code to increase/decrease font size. This is giving me a headache because each browser seems to implement the $.css('font-size') differently (see jquery bug). The part that's really killing me, though, is that Firefox is scaling up okay, but when I use the scale down function below, it scales up. Webkit & IE are both working as expected. Any ideas on that? I put this in a fiddle here: http://jsfiddle.net/srQ3P/1/ where you can see it working as expected, and you can see it broken in firefox at the project page: http://cumberlandme.info/residents MAJOR EDIT Sorry, the issue is not the code, it's firefox buggy behavior. After I zoom in or out with the browser controls (ctrl + plus or ctrol + minus) the js goes haywire. This doesn't happen in other browsers. This is the real issue. Any advice on that
