• jQuery selector: this.parent, is there such a thing?

  I have a lot of div boxes with nested div .titles, with a button inside. Is there a way in jQuery to select the parent of the button? Something like: $("#button").click(function(){ $("this.parent").css({'border-bottom' : 'none'}); }); Or am I going to have to rename all of my title classes to unique classes?

  Hello, i'm using CodeIgniter for developing a community board. As I'm using nested sets to get a nested forum hierarchy, I have to run a lot of queries such as: SELECT `id` FROM `forums` WHERE 1 BETWEEN `lft` AND `rgt` My problem: CodeIgniter is replacing the "1" by "`1`" because the "1" is recognized as a column name. Of course, the query does not work any more. Is there a way to get it working? thx in advance

If you were to change seq.sort(lambda x,y: cmp(x.xxx, y.xxx)), which is preferable: seq.sort(key=operator.attrgetter('xxx')) or: seq.sort(key=lambda a:a.xxx) I would also be interested in comments on the merits of making changes to existing code that works.

• CVS Diff to output only modified files?

  Is it possible? Run a cvs diff in terminal at the project root that outputs only modified files (like local files that aren't in source control and local modified files). I'm running cvs diff --brief but I still have too many results since my project is large, and with a lot of subdirectories - it shows the whole hierarchy and I just want to know which files are different from HEAD revision. I'm using Linux.

• VSS causing crash in VS 2008

  We use Visual Studio 2008, with visual source safe v8. Lately, I seem to be getting a lot more crashes than usual, mainly when viewing history (comparing, etc.).   I am trying to add a lot of item to ListItemCollection in the ListControl, but once the Count reaches 127 I can't add any more items. It doesn't throw any exceptions, just doesn't add the items. I have changed Capacity to 256, but it still won't add more than 127 items. Is there a hard-coded limit?

  Hi, in C if I have a printf statement containing say "%.2f", it says that the precision is 2 digits after the decimal place. I haven't explicitly specify the width. I have two questions: Is this good programming practice?; Is without specifying the width means that the width of the field will get adjusted automatically when printing the number, irrespective of the number of digits it contains? • Is flash's geturl(...) spiderable by google?

  If I made a homepage with an embedded .swf which had buttons that linked to other html pages on my website using the getUrl() function, would those links be spiderable by google? Or should I also put in text links outside of the .swf (which would ruin the design a bit)? I know a lot of people will argue I shouldn't have flash as the main content on the homepage (and their comments are appreciated), but bear in mind, that's not my question.
