Basically looking for a JQuery plugin with better Android browser support than JQTouch. Or even an alternative Javascript framework with better mobile support.
Hi All;
Due to Apple's recent T+C hijinks, I've become interested in developing for Android.
Anyways, I'm trying to get a mixed-language Android 2.1 project going in Netbeans 6.8 (with the NBAndroid 0.10 plugin). The two languages being Java and Scala(2.8 head build). To give you a basic idea of what the app does right now, it's just a simple "Hello World" app.
To get this to build, I've modified the projects's build.xml file:
--
-injars ${scala-library}(!META-INF/MANIFEST.MF,!library.properties)
-outjars "${build.classes.dir}/classes.min.jar"
-libraryjars "${file.reference.android.jar}"
-dontwarn
-dontoptimize
-dontobfuscate
-keep public class * extends android.app.Activity
-keep public class scala.xml.include.sax.Main**
I've gotten the project so that it'll build, but it errors on startup in my Android Emulator(inside the emulator Android tells me my application has stopped unexpectedly).
So my questions are: Does anyone see what I may be doing wrong? And is there any way to get access to the logs that the emulator must create?
thanks

I am developing a webpage which requires the userlocation for loading some data. The web page is mainly intended for android users. I need to find the geo location of the user when the user opens that page? How can I do that?
In an given Android activity, I would like to start a new activity for the user at some point. Once they leave the first activity and arrive at the second, the first activity is stale and I want to remove it completely so it can not be accessed again from the back button.
How is the best way to accomplish this? How do I kill or destroy this activity immediately after the user has launched the new activity?
Android - Can I force BACK button to go 2 steps back in the Acitivty stack with some kind of code? I know I can override the onKeyDown method but I want BACK to do it's thing, just twice!
Hi,
I have some piece of code which uses JNI. I can debug code wrote in Java directly in Eclipse (using ADT). I even have a script, which help me debug native code with gdb. However this is not very comfortable way for doing this.
Is it possible to configure Eclipse to use gdb (I guess gdbserver) for debbuging android native applications? Do you know where I could find any description of this?
hi,
I've installed the usb driver, i'm running win7.
I can see that the driver is installed in the window-android SDK and AVD manager-installed packages
but when i'm writing "adb devices" in the cmd it doesnt show like the phone is connected (it is - it has the orange led on..)
I'm using the HTC G1.
I also did the "Turn on "USB Debugging" on your device" step...
anyone got an idea??
I'm looking for a simple way in Android to add a text to a button that is displayed in 2 (or more) lines. E.g. A bold and big heading in the first line and a small description in the second line.
Is it possible or have I use a TextView or something similar?
I found that with code/function I can change the contacts ringtone, but I couldn't find how to use it. Can someone help me, How do I do it?
context.getContentResolver().update(contactUri, values, where, args);
ContactsContract.Contacts.CUSTOM_RINGTONE
One more question. when I call from one android simulator to another I don't hear the ringing sound, what could be the problem?
Eclipse is complaining about my Android project saying all my references to resources are unresolved, even though R.java does exist. For example:
signin_btn=(Button)findViewById(R.id.signin_btn); signin_btn.setOnClickListener(this);
I definately have signin_btn defined in my resources. Dont know why Eclipse is not seeing my R class anymore. How to fix?
I am trying to test my application with location information.
You know the Emulator Control has an ability to load from KML file. (Eclipse - DDMS - Emulator Control - Location Controls - KML - Load KML...)
I've prepared KML file using Google earth application with its "Add path". Then saved it by .kml extension and load it on the Eclipse. Eclipse didn't load this KML file.
How to prepare KML file for Android Emulator Control?
I'd like to add a feature to my android app that automatically backs up the sqlite database to the sd card.
What's the best way to go about this?
Any examples/tutorials available?
In my Android application, I want to rename the file name at runtime. How can I do it?
This is my code:
String[] command = {" mv", "sun moon.jpg"," sun_moon,jpg"};
try
{
Process process = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(command);
}
catch (IOException e)
{
Toast.makeText(this, ""+e, Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
}
I also used renameTo(File f) method but its also not working..
I'm trying to mimic the functionality in Google Maps on Android. When you press the directions option on the options menu, and it shows "My Location, End Point" on top of the map and dims the map. Is that running in a separate activity, or is that somehow a modal dialog on top of the map?
In Android, if I want to do some background work, what is the difference between
Creating a Service to do the work, and having the Activity start the Service
VS.
Creating a standard java class to do the work, and having the Activity create an object of the class and invoke methods, to do the work in separate threads
Thanks
Chris
We are using Hudson to automate our Android build. I need to incorporate the build number into the version string used in our app. Was wondering if anyone had an example of doing that before I (re?)invent that wheel. Obviously I need to replace a string value in one of our config files.
I have an android service that connects to remote server by TCP/IP and waits for notifications from it. Should I care about PowerManagement? Can sleep mode affect me some how?
If no, than what are the "use cases" to care about wake locks?
I have integrated the Pushwoosh SDK in my Android Application and it is working fine.
I have done the Cross Platform Setting to run the Android Application on my Blackberry Z10 device, the application is running finely but I am not able to receive the Notification on my Blackberry Z10 device as Android.
I am getting this error:

I am not able to get the Push Notification on my Blackberry Z10 device.
Is there a way to test, from within an android app, if the device it's running on is actually using the Froyo JIT?
I ask because I know that 2.2 has a JIT, but we've already had a few test builds that seem to lack the JIT. So it's not a case where you can just test for the api version and be assured you've got the JIT.
I am confused as to the difference between the two. In my application I have just used Extends Activity and the application is working perfectly, so what is the purpose of Extends Application?.
Would you use it on the first class you create in the Android application?
Thanks.
Hello, we have a problem related to the manifest file and the property "android:minSdkVersion".
The issue is: If our platform is 2.0 and we use the property "android:minSdkVersion=3" (3 = sdk 1.5) the graphics get corrupted (In details, the application's resolution get reduced to a 2/3 part of the original size, this is, when the resolution should be 480x720, it becomes in a 320x480). This is happening on the Android emulator, and on the devices Droid/Milestone (Which are platforms 2.0). When we switch the property to "android:minSdkVersion=4" (4 = sdk 1.6) the problem gets solved, but when we want to put that version on platform 1.5, Android doesn't allow us to install it.
It would help us to know any conflict regarding graphics within the 2.0 sdk, or any known problem around the "android:minSdkVersion" in the manifest.
Thanks!
Hi,
I want to send the following JSON text {"Email":"[email protected]","Password":"123456"} to a web service and read the response. I know to how to read JSON. The problem is that the above jason object must be sent in a variable name jason. How can i do this from android? Like creating a request object setting content headers etc.
Here is how I setup my checked text view. How come no check box appeared?
I also added this but it had not effect:
listView.setChoiceMode(ListView.CHOICE_MODE_SINGLE);
> <CheckedTextView
> android:id="@+id/ctv_checktext"
> android:layout_width="fill_parent"
> android:paddingLeft="2px"
> android:paddingRight="2px"
> android:paddingTop="2px"
> android:layout_height="wrap_content"
> />
