  • ExpandoObject (dynamics) my greatest friend or my new greatest foe?

    - by WeNeedAnswers
Yes I know that it shouldn't be abused and that C# is primariy used as a static language. But seriously folks if you could just dirty up some code, in the python style, or create some dynamic do hicky, would you? My mind is working overtime on this having spent a while loving the dynamics of python, is c# going over to the dark side through the back door? Is the argument for static typing a dead one with this obvious addition? Is the argument for less Unit testing a bit silly when we are all grown ups? Or has the addition of dynamics ruined a strongly static typed and well designed language?

  • How to specify prerequisite jobs in Hudson

    - by sjohnston
I have a Hudson job that just does a check-out/update to a third-party library. Call this Job A. Several other jobs depend on this library. Call them Jobs B and C. They use the stuff checked out by Job A, and need it to be up-to-date. My question is, how can I require Jobs B and C to always run Job A (to update the library) before they run through their build routine? If this is not possible, can someone recommend another way to achieve the same effect?

  • Managing memory of polymorphic timed events with DLL

    - by Milo
Here is my issue. My Gui library that I made supports timed events. Basically, I have a class called TimedEvent which users inherit from. They then do: addTimedEvent(new DerivedTimedEvent(...)); However given the nature of timed events, I manage the memory afterwards. So when the timed event has done its thing, my library calls delete on it. Although it runs fine, that is because the exe and the library were both built with msvc 2008. I think I might have trouble if I have 2 versions of the runtime, one for the lib, and one for the exe. What can I do to fix this? I can't create a factory because the derived type is on the exe side of things. I also cannot ask the user to call delete since they might not have a way to keep track of time, or know if the event was delayed for whatever reason. Thanks

  • MC75 using symbol.imaging.device libraries for program

    - by Christy
UPDATE: I found another library in the Windows Mobile - CameraCaptureDialog - this did the job - never did figure out the zero length available devices... Hi all, I have a .net application running on a symbol mc75 (motorola) using the scanner. I am now trying to add functionality for the camera and I am running into issues. To find the 'devices' you are supposed to use the library's 'available devices' function. With the barcode it is symbol.barcode.devices.availabledevices and it returns two items (you can scan from the scanner or using the camera device) However, when I do the camera library it does not find any devices - symbol.imaging.devices.availabledevices returns 0 I can take a picture using the software on the mc75, so I know the functionality is there, I just can't figure out how to get to it programmatically.... Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks for any help!

  • ConfigurationSection with multiple projects

    - by shivesh
In my asp.net solution i have a couple of class library-projects that act as modules of the site. In main project I have SiteConfigurationSection class that derives from ConfigurationSection. I want all projects to be able to access and use this SiteConfigurationSection. But class library projects can't access it because they obviously don't have a reference to the website itself. Should create a special library-project for SiteConfigurationSection of maybe it's better to create a mini SiteConfigurationSection class in every project and encapsulate only the needed values?

  • C++ shared libraries

    - by saminny
Hi, I am trying to get my head around the way shared libraries work in the c++ unix environment. I understand we only need header files and no shared libraries specification when compiling code. But if I want to create an executable or shared library from my compiled files, do I need to specify shared library dependencies (those are dynamic)? And do the paths of shared libraries need to match the path at runtime loading? I am using Linux 2.6.18-164.11.1.el5 #1 SMP x86_64 GNU/Linux I am having a problem where my code is not able to pick up a library at runtime. I have tried setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH and PATH. But at runtime when I run the executable, I get the following error: Error: librc.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Sam

  • How can I make this code more generic

    - by Greg
    Hi How could I make this code more generic in the sense that the Dictionary key could be a different type, depending on what the user of the library wanted to implement? For example someone might what to use the extension methods/interfaces in a case where there "unique key" so to speak for Node is actually an "int" not a "string" for example. public interface ITopology { Dictionary<string, INode> Nodes { get; set; } } public static class TopologyExtns { public static void AddNode(this ITopology topIf, INode node) { topIf.Nodes.Add(node.Name, node); } public static INode FindNode(this ITopology topIf, string searchStr) { return topIf.Nodes[searchStr]; } } public class TopologyImp : ITopology { public Dictionary<string, INode> Nodes { get; set; } public TopologyImp() { Nodes = new Dictionary<string, INode>(); } }

  • Workflowing an InfoPath form

    - by Donaldinio
I have an InfoPath form that requires workflow. The form is build from a cXML schema in BizTalk, then dropped into a forms library for workflow. The user opens the infopath form, reviews and picks one of several options: re-submit, archive, escalate, etc. My question is how best to workflow this? Do you have the buttons on the form update a status/action field, and have the workflow listen for an onChange event? Can you update a property on the library, that is not a field on the form? for example, if status is not part of the form schema, but is a column on the document library. How do ye typically do this? thanks.

  • Does a Category applied to NSString also apply to NSCFString via the "toll-free bridge"?

    - by half_brick
We're integrating a library into an iPhone app which appears to use the google toolbox for iPhone internally. The google toolbox adds a method gtm_stringBySanitizingAndEscapingForXML to NSString. The problem is, whenever we attempt to make a call to this library we get [NSCFString gtm_stringBySanitizingAndEscapingForXML]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x272478 So it appears the library is calling that method on a NSCFString, to which the category does not apply. So... is it the case that the category will not apply across the toll-free bridge to CoreFoundation classes? If that's the case then we at least know why it's blowing up. Figuring out how to fix it is a different matter.

  • C/C++: Scanning a TIFF file using LIBTIFF

    - by Matt07
My problem is to scan a tiff image in C and get all the pixel value (let's say for saving them in a txt file) in C/C++. I scanned the web and i found a library named "TIFFLIB" that should do what i was looking for. I downloaded it using the ubuntu package manager, but the gcc doesn't recognize the library. How do i link the library to the compiler? Have I installed it correctly? Is there any better/easier way to do that?

  • Mysql maven jpa skeleton

    - by coubeatczech
    Hi, is there a skeleton for a project using mysql, some eclipse/top link with RESOURCE_LOCAL as connection type? Preferably using maven. I'm searching for it for hours and can't get running even the sipmlest exaple. So if you had it ready and running, please, post :-). Even something as simple as these two classes only. @Entity public class Message implements Serializable{ public Message() {} public Message(String s){ this.s = s; } @Id String s; public String getS(){ return s; } } public class App { static private EntityManagerFactory emf; static private EntityManager em; public static void main( String[] args ) { emf = Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory("persistence"); em = emf.createEntityManager(); Message m = new Message("abc"); em.persist(m); } }

  • Statically Init a derived class

    - by AC
With c++, Is there a way to get a derived class to inherit its own static initializer? I am trying to do something like the following: class Base { public: class StaticInit { public: virtual StaticInit() =0; }; }; class Derived: public Base { public: virtual StaticInit::StaticInit() { //do something with the derived class } static StaticInit init; } static Derived::StaticInit init; it would also be nice if I didn't have to define the init var in each derived class. I am currently redefining the StaticInit internal class in each derived class but it seems redundant. Each derived class is a singleton, and I need the instance to be stored in a lookup table at program startup.

  • TFS 2008 and Common libraries folder structure.

    - by Doerr
TFS 2008 and Common Libraries I have created a Team Project called "Common Library" that will host code used in numerous different Team Projects throughout TFS. For sake of argument, lets say we have 2 distinct Librarys under the "Common Library" Team Projects, MailProject and LoggingProject. Other projects throughout TFS will be using the binary representation of these projects via branching and not the actual source code. What is the best way to set up the folder structure for this Team Project? Do I add the project to the "Common Library" and simply "include" the bin/release folder as part of the project? I have seen some examples of people creating a seperate "Deploy" folder. I assume this is synonamous with the bin/release folder?

  • iPhone CoreData Migration and modifying data

    - by ScottL
I have an app that has both static data and user entered data in the CoreData store. I understand how to do a lightweight migration to a new database version, but how to I add or modify the static data without affecting the users data? If I have 50 static data entries to add and a couple to modify (ie. spelling mistakes) should they be stored in a different sqlite db and copied over? Also, is it possible to look at the version of the data store so that this copy only happens the first time the app is started up after upgrading? Sorry for the general noob type question, but this is the first time I have ever had to deal with this sort of issue. Thanks, Scott

  • How do I use the Zend Youtube API correctly?

    - by pharma_joe
I am trying to access the YouTube API with the Zend libraries that I have included like this (the full path to the Zend library is components/lib/Zend/Gdata.php): //Include Zend Gdata set_include_path('components/lib'); include("Zend/Gdata.php"); I now try to use the framework thus: //Access video data via Zend library $yt = new Zend_Gdata_YouTube(); However when running the script it returns: Fatal error: Class 'Zend_Gdata_YouTube' not found in E:\inetpub\students\fit3060\20712510\ass2\results.php on line 48 I think I have not included the Zend library properly or declared the include path correctly?

  • C++ allocate objects on heap of base class with protected constructors via inheritance

    - by KRao
I have a class with protected constructor: class B { protected: B(){}; }; Now I derive from it and define two static functions and I manage to actually create objects of the class B, but not on the heap: class A : public B { public: static B createOnStack() {return B();} //static B* createOnHeap() {return new B;} //Compile time Error on VS2010 }; B b = A::createOnStack(); //This works on VS2010! The question is: 1) Is VS2010 wrong in allowing the first case? 2) Is it possible to create objects of B without modifying B in any way (no friendship and no extra functions). I am asking, because it is possible to make something similar when dealing with instances of B and its member functions, see: http://accu.org/index.php/journals/296 Thank you in advance for any suggestion! Kind regards

  • How to peform an external request in Kohana 3?

    - by alex
I've always used cURL for this sort of stuff, but this article got me thinking I could request another page easily using the Request object in Kohana 3. $url = 'http://www.example.com'; $update = Request::factory($url); $update->method = 'POST'; $update->post = array( 'key' => 'value' ); $update->execute(); echo $update->response; However I get the error Accessing static property Request::$method as non static From this I can assume it means that the method method is static, but that doesn't help me much. I also copied and pasted the example from that article and it threw the same error. Basically, I'm trying to POST to a new page on an external server, and do it the Kohana way. So, am I doing this correctly, or should I just use cURL (or file_get_contents() with context)?

  • Why maven is not working in eclipse indigo?

    - by user1067665
I'm trying to make a simple log in/ log out web application with maven and I'm creating the project with the command: " mvn archetype:generate " and choose 341 and it'll be created with the structure below: webapp -----src/main/java -----Referenced Libraries -----Maven Dependencies -----src -----target pom.xml But when I add some dependencies and update the project something weird happening with the structure of the project according to the picture below: webapp -----src/main/java -----Referenced Libraries -----JRE System Library -----src -----target pom.xml and it's not working any more. As you can see the the first one has a Maven dependencies Library but the second one has been changed to JRE System Library. I use mac os lion and eclipse indigo. Anyone how knows why is like that? - by Meloun
Hi, I need to write some data in several database. I choose sqlapi.com I have made it for mysql and mssql. Now I have Problem with Oracle database. I have installed server and client on Ubuntu. In browser it works, but sqlapi says: libnnz10.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory DBMS API Library 'libclntsh.so' loading fails This library is a part of DBMS client installation, not SQLAPI++ Make sure DBMS client is installed and this required library is available for dynamic loading Linux/Unix: 1) The directories in the user's LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable 2) The list of libraries cached in /etc/ld.so.cache 3) /usr/lib, followed by /lib There are both of these files depp inside /usr/lib. • JNAerator Unnamed Union Missing in Structure

    - by Nick
I'm trying to get JNAerator to generate some JNA backed Java code from a C shared library and everything is fine except that it failed to generate an unnamed union nested inside a structure. Example: typedef struct MY_STRUCTURE { union { My_Type1 var1; My_Type2 var2; }; }MY_STRUCTURE; If I change the header to make the union have a name it will work. But for obvious reasons I can't just change the header without breaking the shared library I'm trying to use. Any solutions other than changing the header file and shared library to named union?

  • C# Why does this code not show a GUI properly?

    - by Tom
class Program { static String ChannelName = null; static Form1 f; static void Main() { f = new Form1(); f.Show(); try { MY CODE WHICH CALLS INTO ANOTHER CLASS BUT CANNOT PASS THE GUI INSTANCE AS IT USES REMOTING } } } I know this isnt the best/normal way to do it, but i need to write data to the GUI from a class which has bo instance of the GUI so i was going to call Program.method() and use a function to write to the GUI in program. However when i run the above my GUI displays but with the windows hourglass? Could someone show me a quick fix so that i can still crudely show the GUI, let the application code run and then later write to the GUI?

  • How to pass a function to a function?

    - by ShaChris23
Suppose I have a class with 2 static functions: class CommandHandler { public: static void command_one(Item); static void command_two(Item); }; I have a problem DRY problem where I have 2 functions that have the exact same code for every single line, except for the function that it calls: void CommandOne_User() { // some code A CommandHandler::command_one(item); // some code B } void CommandTwo_User() { // some code A CommandHandler::command_two(item); // some code B } I would like to remove duplication, and, ideally, do something like this: void CommandOne_User() { Function func = CommandHandler::command_one(); Refactored_CommandUser(func); } void CommandTwo_User() { Function func = CommandHandler::command_one(); Refactored_CommandUser(func); } void Refactored_CommandUser(Function func) { // some code A func(item); } I have access to Qt, but not Boost. Could someone help suggest a way on how I can refactor something like this?
