  • Programatically opening an xml file in MS Word

    - by Dan Revell
    I'm opening an xml file in Microsoft Word 2007 using C#. I'm using an xsl file to define the layout which worked up to the point that I needed to include an image. I used the typical src html tag and the image displays when the xml is viewed in ie but not when it's opened in Word. I get the image place holder so I can only assume Word simply can't find the image. It's sitting next to both the xml file and xsl file but that doesn't make any difference. To open the document I'm passing the filenames for both the xml and xsl. I would imagine that as the src is in the xsl it would just look relative to one of these files. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. [EDIT] Apologies I lost track of this one. I fixed it in the end. I'll check what my solution was tomorrow and update this.

  • XSL match some but not all

    - by Willb
    I have a solution from an earlier post that was kindly provided by Dimitre Novatchev. <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:my="my:my"> <xsl:output method="xml" version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1" indent="yes"/> <xsl:key name="kPhysByName" match="KB_XMod_Modules" use="Physician"/> <xsl:template match="/"> <result> <xsl:apply-templates/> </result> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="/*/*/*[starts-with(name(), 'InfBy')]"> <xsl:variable name="vCur" select="."/> <xsl:for-each select="document('doc2.xml')"> <xsl:variable name="vMod" select="key('kPhysByName', $vCur)"/> <xsl:copy> <items> <item> <label> <xsl:value-of select="$vMod/Physician"/> </label> <value> <xsl:value-of select="$vMod/XModID"/> </value> </item> </items> </xsl:copy> </xsl:for-each> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> I now need to use additional fields in my source XML and need the existing labels intact but I'm having problems getting this going. <instance> <NewTag>Hello</newTag1> <AnotherNewTag>Everyone</AnotherNewTag> <InfBy1>Dr Phibes</InfBy1> <InfBy2>Dr X</InfBy2> <InfBy3>Dr Chivago</InfBy3> </instance> It drops the additional labels and outputs <result xmlns:my="my:my"> HelloEveryone <items> <item> <label>Dr Phibes</label> <value>60</value> </item> </items> ... I've been experimenting a lot with <xsl:otherwise> <xsl:copy-of select="."> </xsl:copy-of> </xsl:otherwise> but being an xsl newbie I can't seem to get this to work. I've a feeling I'm barking up the wrong tree! Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Will

  • How to set element value dynamically based on for each loop count

    - by user1515918
    Here is snippet of an xsl file that I am trying to make work. I would like to change value for element request-tot-queries in the header based on loop count in the Body. Your help would be greatly appreciated! <HEADER> <request-tot-queries>$Counter</request-tot-queries> </HEADER> <Body> <xsl:for-each select="//Request/Responses/Pooled/ResidenceHistory/Residencies/Residency"> <count><xsl:variable name="counter" select="position()"/></count> <xsl:if test="DateRange/To/Date[@Type!='Present']"> <subject-query> . . . </subject-query> </xsl:if> </xsl:for-each> </Body>

  • Processing XML comments in order using SAX & Cyberneko

    - by Joel
    I'm using cyberneko to clean and process html documents. I need to be able to process all the comments that occur in the original html documents. I've configured the cyberneko sax parser to process comments like so: parser.setProperty("http://xml.org/sax/properties/lexical-handler", consumer); ...using the same consumer as I am for DOM events. I get a callback for each of the comments: @Override public void comment(char[] arg0, int arg1, int arg2) throws SAXException { System.out.println("COMMENT::: "+new String(arg0, arg1, arg2)); } The problem I have is that all the comments are processed first, out of context of the DOM. i.e. I get a callback for all the comments before the document head, body etc.... What I'd like is for the comment callbacks to occur in the order they occur in the DOM. Edit: what I'm actually trying to do is parse the instructions for IE in the original html, such as: <!--[if lte IE 6]><body class="news ie"><![endif]--> At the moment they are all dropped, I need to include them in the cleaned HTML document.

  • [PHP] Processing custom XML namespace within XSL

    - by sander
    I'm using the php class XSLTProcessor to generate HTML from a xsl. Within the xsl, I'd like all my custom namespace elements to be processed by my own processor class. So for example: <xsl:for-each select="doc/elements/*"> <doc:renderElement element="." /> </xsl:for-each> This should call the method renderElement of an instance of my custom processor class. I know I can enable calling php functions by using the registerPHPFunctions function. However, this only seems to support calling static methods.

  • Display different xsl:attribute depending on the code

    - by Johann
    Dear All, I have the following xsl code in an xsl document <A target="_blank" style="text-decoration=none"> <xsl:attribute name="href">viewdoc.aspx?doc=<xsl:value-of select="URLFilePath"/>&amp;mode=inline</xsl:attribute> <xsl:attribute name="prefix"><xsl:value-of select="FileName"/>: </xsl:attribute> <IMG src="images/word_small.gif" border="0"/> </A> and in the code-behind I am doing this newItemNode = xmlDocument.CreateElement("URLFilePath") newItemNode.InnerText = correctedPath xmlItemNode.ParentNode.AppendChild(newItemNode) Now that works fine for word documents. However I need a way in code to check the extension of the file, and display the correct Image and xsl:attribute depending on the If statement. So the If statement will be like this:- If correctedPath.ToLower.Contains(".doc") Then //display the word icon and attributes Else //display the excel icon and attributes End If Can you please give me some tips and help on how I can achieve this? Thanks

  • Problem with using the XPATH functions

    - by Alex
    I've got a problem with using the XPATH functions. When I try to call some functions like lower-case or upper-case etc,they are not executed and I can't figure the problem out. I included the namespace xmlns:fn="http://www.w3.org/2005/xpath-functions" at the top of my XSL stylesheet and use fn namespace to call these functions but anyway nothing is working. Can anyone explain the reason and what I should do in order to be able to use the following functions? Cheers

  • Specific template for the first element.

    - by Kalinin
    I have a template: <xsl:template match="paragraph"> ... </xsl:template> I call it: <xsl:apply-templates select="paragraph"/> For the first element I need to do: <xsl:template match="paragraph[1]"> ... <xsl:apply-templates select="."/><!-- I understand that this does not work --> ... </xsl:template> How to call <xsl:apply-templates select="paragraph"/> (for the first element paragraph) from the template <xsl:template match="paragraph[1]">? So far that I have something like a loop. I solve this problem so (but I do not like it): <xsl:for-each select="paragraph"> <xsl:choose> <xsl:when test="position() = 1"> ... <xsl:apply-templates select="."/> ... </xsl:when> <xsl:otherwise> <xsl:apply-templates select="."/> </xsl:otherwise> </xsl:choose> </xsl:for-each>

  • Updating variables in XSL

    - by Stroboskop
    Is there any way in XSL to update a global variable? I want to check what elements i already transformed and act accordingly. That would require me to somehow add the names of the elements to some sort of list and update it each time a new element is transformed. But since xsl:variable isn't "variable" in the sense one would expect, i have no way of adding anything to it once it has been defined. I have multiple included data files, so using xsl functions that only know the current set of nodes will not help.

  • Nokogiri (Ruby) and XPath

    - by JP
    Does Nokogiri only support XPath 1.0? I'm trying to do simple string replacement in a value-of cell, like so (where element contains something like '* My string (useless text)') <xsl:value-of select="replace(element,'^\*\ (.+)\ \(.*\)$','\\1')"> Is this poorly formed XSL? Or is there a limitation with Nokogiri?

  • How to read in the XML file on a remote website using JSP?

    - by Alex
    Hi, I'm using java servlets and jsp in my application and I need to read the remote XML file and properly render it into HTML and display on a web page...What is the technology used for reading process?Should I use HTTPURLConnection class to read the contents of the xml file or there is some other way? And also,if I use servlet as a controller and JSP as a view,what would be the responsibility of servlet and jsp in this process?Should servlet just read the whole XML file and then just pass the read output to JSP which will just print it and render properly using XSL for example? I really hope to hear from any people who may help, With kind regards

  • Using xsl:character-map on text nodes only

    - by jramos95
    I am trying to create a generic stylesheet that can convert all Latin characters in Unicode to uppercase ASCII characters. Using <xsl:character-map> works well except for one thing: namespaces. The character map converts all of my namespaces to upper case, which I do not want. Is there a way to utilize a character map to do what I want to all the other nodes while leaving the namespaces untouched? I see the disable-output-escaping attribute might be an option, but I haven't been able to make it work.

  • XSL(like) declarative language as MVC view over strongtyped model?

    - by Martin Kool
    As a huge XSL fan, I am very happy to use xsl as the view in our proprietary MVC framework on ASP.NET. Objects in the model are serialized under the hood using .NET's xml serializer, and we use quite atomic xsl templates to declare how each object or property should transform. For example: <xsl:template match="/Article"> <html> <body> <div class="article"> <xsl:apply-templates /> </div> </body> </html> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="Article/Title"> <h1> <xsl:apply-templates /> </h1> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="@*|text()"> <xsl:copy /> </xsl:template> This mechanism allows us to quickly override default matching templates, like having a template matching on the last item in a list, or the selected one, etc. Also, xsl extension objects in .NET allow us just the bit of extra grip that we need. Common shared templates can be split up and included. However Even though I can ignore the verbosity downside of xsl (because Visual Studio schema intellisense + snippets really is slick, praise to the VS-team), the downside of not having intellisense over strongtyped objects in the model is really something that's bugging me. I've seen ASP.NET MVC + user controls in action and really starting to love it, but I wonder; Is there a way of getting some sort of intellisense over XML that we're iterating over, or do you know of a language that offers the freedom and declarativeness of XSL but has the strongtype/intellisense benefits of say webforms/usercontrols/asp.net.mvc-view? (I probably know the answer: "no", and I'll find myself using Phil Haack's utterly cool mvc shizzle soon...)
