We have an ASP.NET 3.5 application which we need to run on 64bit, but when we do the performance is worst than when we enable 32 bit on the App Pool. It seems like there is something we use in the project which requires 32 bit, but we cannot find what.
Is there a quick and dirty way of using a query passed as follows:
domain.com/mypage.aspx/product/toycar/
I've done it before in PHP, but this needs to be done in page (in this instance).

I only have access to the aspx page and code behind, and have to work in asp.net 2 (i wish i was using 3.5)
We use ComponentOne controls in our Winforms application for .NET 2.0 and we have a problem when we attempt to use it on FIPS validated platforms - the licx file seems to fail and the control creation fails and even the ComponentOne activation seems to fail. Is there a workaround for this ?
Hello experts,
I have many PDF documents in binary format which is in the SQL Server 2008 database. I have a gridview in my ASP.net page. When a user clicks on any ID column of the record I need to open the pdf in the browser.
Are there any free PDF viewer controls out there? How can I convert the binary PDF file and display as PDF in the browser.
Thanks
Hi,
I'm just wondering if there's a web hosting site that offers hosting for PHP and ASP.NET at the same time. It would be great if you give me a site that offers free service. I would like to use it for testing purposes only. But I could still look for affordable one.
Comments/Suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
At face value, it would seem that object initializers present a problem for .net 4.0 "code contracts", where normally the invariant should be established by the time the object constructor is finished. Presumably, however, object-initializers require properties to be set after construction is complete.
My question is if the invariants of "code contracts" are able to handle object initializers, "as if" the properties were set before the constructor completes? That would be very nice indeed!!
Hey,
I'm developing an blog using ASP.NET, and I want that the user can be able to add comments.
So I want to implement the idea of facebook on adding comments.
The comment will be stored in the database, so I will be able to load it with the page if the user goes to another web page.
You have any idea how can I do this thing ( Ajax, Javascript, jQuery, Ajax Toolkit ) ?
Hi everybody,
I develop a simple file manager inside an ASP.NET Web site (not web application).
I notice that every time I rename or delete a folder, the site gets recompiled - i.e. the very next web request after delete or rename operation takes considerably much time to execute.
It's only true for folders, not for files.
Why does this occur?
P.S. I use WebDev server (Cassini), haven't tested in on IIS yet.
We are using Mysql.exe to restore database by the following query
string cmd ="-h" + ViewState["host"].ToString() + " " + "-u" +
ViewState["user"].ToString() + " " + "-p" + ViewState["password"].ToString() +
" " + ViewState["dbName"].ToString() + "<" + " " +
Server.MapPath("BackupFiles/") + path;
The same query is executing in MySql command prompt but we are not able to restore using the above query in VisualStudio .Net, we have tried MysqlImport.exe to do the restore but it was no use. we are newbie to MySql if any help would be appreciated.
We are having two load balancing server. In that we have hosted a asp.net 3.5 application right now we are using request userhostaddress to get visitor ip but it is giving load balancer ip instead of real ip. Can anyone have code for this.
I am using .NET json parser and i would like to serialize my config file so it is readable instead of
{"blah":"v", "blah2":"v2"}
to something nicer like
{
"blah":"v",
"blah2":"v2"
}
my code is something like
using System.Web.Script.Serialization;
var ser = new JavaScriptSerializer();
configSz = ser.Serialize(config);
using (var f = (TextWriter)File.CreateText(configFn))
{
f.WriteLine(configSz);
f.Close();
}
What error handling should be used in VB.NET?
Should you use the "On Error Goto ErrorHandler ... Exit Sub ErrHandler ... End Sub" pattern or should you use the "try { ... } catch { ... } finally { ...}" pattern?
Is there a limit on the amount of generic parameters you can have on a type in .NET? Either hard limit (like 32) or a soft limit (where it somehow effects performance to much, etc.)
What I'm referring to is:
class Foo<T0, T2, T3, T4, etc.> {
}
Hi,
I have a requirement to show a list of all users along with the Last Activity Date. The application is .Net based.
I found the MemberShip class provides the Last Activity date. However, this does not work when the MemberShip provider is ActiveDirectory
Link to MSDN page because the ActiveDirectoryMemberShipUser does not implement the LastActivityDate property.
Is there any workaround or other way, I can get the LastActivityDate of the user in the application.
Thanks for any info
I'm trying to do a proof of concept app for my work using ASP.NET WebForms and the Managed Extensibility Framework. I've got things up and running(ish), but I can't seem to figure out how to attach the instance of Visual Studio that has the MEF code in it to the instance of Visual Studio that is running the Web App.
How can I attach my MEF code to the running process so that it hits my breakpoints?

Duplicate: although this is a good discussion, this is a duplicate of Web Services — WCF vs. Standard. Please consider adding any new information to the earlier question and closing this one.
Could anyone recommend me some documents to describe why WCF is better than legacy ASP.Net web services? I am especially interested in performance and security. Thanks!
Is it possible to convert Xaml into a .Net Compact Framework UI (dll, exe, etc...)? In fact any XML based representation would be nice (QT, GTK, etc...).
I need to load an xML file from the bin folder in ASP.NET (MVC, not that it would count). I can't get the bin folder path nor load the file otherwise.. I need to feed the following method :
using(var file = System.IO.File.OpenRead(/* something */))
{
}
