  • For each loop not reading in the last item

    - by Gandalf StormCrow
    I'm trying to read in a multi line string then split it then print it .. here is the string : 1T1b5T!1T2b1T1b2T!1T1b1T2b2T!1T3b1T1b1T!3T3b1T!1T3b1T1b1T!5T1*1T 11X21b1X 4X1b1X When I split the string with ! I get this without the last line string : 1T1b5T 1T1b5T1T2b1T1b2T 1T2b1T1b2T1T1b1T2b2T 1T1b1T2b2T1T3b1T1b1T 1T3b1T1b1T3T3b1T 3T3b1T1T3b1T1b1T 1T3b1T1b1T5T1*1T 5T1*1T11X21b1X 11X21b1X Here is my code : import java.io.BufferedInputStream; import java.util.Scanner; public class Main { public static void main(String args[]) { Scanner stdin = new Scanner(new BufferedInputStream(System.in)); while (stdin.hasNext()) { for (String line : stdin.next().split("!")) { System.out.println(line); for (int i = 0; i < line.length(); i++) { System.out.print(line.charAt(i)); } } } } } Where did I make the mistake, why is not reading in the last line? After I read in all lines properly I should go trough each line if I encounter number I should print the next char the n times the number I just read, but that is long way ahead first I need help with this. Thank you

  • How to handle exceptions from an image-generating Servlet?

    - by ssahmed555
    I have a simple (Servlet, JSP, and JSTL) web app whose main functionality is displaying images retrieved from a back-end server. The controller servlet forwards the user to a JSP that in turn uses another Servlet to display the resulting image on that same JSP. Further down, the JSP has a line similar to: <a href="<c:out value='${imageURL}'/>"><img src="<c:out value='${imageURL}'/>" alt="image view" border="1"></a> which invokes a GET request on the image-generating servlet causing it to generate the image. My question is: how do I handle Exceptions thrown by this image-generating servlet? I already have an error page defined (in web.xml) to handle ServletException within my web app but this doesn't work for this image-generating Servlet, and results in the following errors showing up in my Tomcat server logs: SEVERE: Exception Processing ErrorPage[exceptionType=javax.servlet.ServletException, location=/WEB-INF/ExceptionPage.jsp] java.lang.IllegalStateException: Cannot reset buffer after response has been committed What's my recourse in this situation? I'd like to be able to handle Exceptions thrown from this image-generating Servlet, and display some error on the main UI or forward the user to another error page.

  • Need some help understanding a weird C behavior

    - by mike
    This part of my code works fine: #include <stdio.h> int main(){ //char somestring[3] = "abc"; int i, j; int count = 5; for((i=0) && (j=0); count > 0; i++ && j++){ printf("i = %d and j = %d\n", i, j); count--; } return 0; } The output as expected: i : 0 and j : 0 i : 1 and j : 1 i : 2 and j : 2 i : 3 and j : 3 i : 4 and j : 4 Things get weird when I uncomment the char string declaration on the first line of the function body. #include <stdio.h> int main(){ char somestring[3] = "abc"; ... } The output: i : 0 and j : 4195392 i : 1 and j : 4195393 i : 2 and j : 4195394 i : 3 and j : 4195395 i : 4 and j : 4195396 What's the logic behind this? I'm using gcc 4.4.1 on Ubuntu 9.10.

  • problem using fprintf

    - by shiran bar
    I'm trying to print to a text file numerous variables yet it doesn't work. I checked and verified that i write it in the correct syntax. I also checked the return value and it's positive therefore i know it did write to the file, however when i open the file it's empty. I would be happy for some help. This is the code: I initiate DynsaleDayPtr in the main: FILE* DynsaleDayPtr = CreateTextFiles("sale_day.txt"); Create function: FILE* CreateTextFiles (char* fileName) { FILE* saleFilePtr=NULL; if((saleFilePtr=fopen(fileName,"a+"))==NULL) printf("File couldn't be opened\n"); return saleFilePtr; } The call to the function TextAddSale is done from a function that is called in the main: TextAddSale(DynSaleDayPtr,dynNumOfRecords); Bool TextAddSale (FILE* DynsaleDayPtr, int* dynNumOfRecords) { char id[6]; char name [50]; char priceChar[20]; char* tmp = NULL; int price=-1; DynamicRecord * newRec=NULL; scanf("%s%s%s",id,name,priceChar); newRec = (DynamicRecord *)malloc(sizeof(DynamicRecord)); if (newRec == NULL) return False; tmp = (char*)malloc(strlen(name)+1); if (tmp == NULL) { free (newRec); return False; } strcpy(tmp,name); newRec->productName = tmp; strcpy(newRec->productId, id); newRec->productPrice=atoi (priceChar); if (fprintf(DynsaleDayPtr,"%d %s %s %d", strlen(newRec->productName), newRec->productId, newRec->productName, newRec->productPrice)>0) { *dynNumOfRecords=(*dynNumOfRecords)+1; return True; } } thanks!

  • Plugin-like architecture in .NET

    - by devoured elysium
    I'm trying to implement a plug-in like application. I know there are already several solution out there but this is just going to be proof of the concept, nothing more. The idea would be to make the application main application almost featureless by default and then let the plugins know about each other, having them have implement all the needed features. A couple of issues arise: I want the plugins at runtime to know about each other through my application. That wouldn't mean that at code-time they couldn't reference other plugin's assemblies so they could use its interfaces, only that plugin-feature initialization should be always through my main app. For example: if I have both plugins X and Y loaded and Y wants to use X's features, it should "register" its interest though my application to use its features. I'd have to have a kind of "dictionary" in my application where I store all the loaded plugins. After registering for interest in my application, plugin Y would get a reference to X so it could use it. Is this a good approach? When coding plugin Y that uses X, I'd need to reference X's assembly, so I can program against its interface. That has the issue of versioning. What if I code my plugin Y against an outdated version of plugin X? Should I always use a "central" place where all assemblies are, having there always the up to date versions of the assemblies? Are there by chance any books out there that specifically deal with these kinds of designs for .NET? Thanks

  • What is the most obfuscated and clever code you've seen? [closed]

    - by ThibThib
    I am aware about the The International Obfuscated C Code Contest, but I am looking for obfuscated AND clever codes (specially short ones) Here is two examples (the first one is a classical one, I think) #define _ F-->00 || F-OO--; long F=00,OO=00; main(){F_OO();printf("%1.3f\n", 4.*-F/OO/OO);}F_OO() { _-_-_-_ _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ _-_-_-_ } and #include <unistd.h> float o=0.075,h=1.5,T,r,O,l,I;int _,L=80,s=3200;main(){for(;s%L|| (h-=o,T= -2),s;4 -(r=O*O)<(l=I*I)|++ _==L&&write(1,(--s%L?_<L?--_ %6:6:7)+"World! \n",1)&&(O=I=l=_=r=0,T+=o /2))O=I*2*O+h,I=l+T-r;} I let you compile and run them so as to understand what they are producing. Of course, I am not looking for only obfuscated code, because I guess that every code could be transformed in a way that it is not readable at all I am more looking for small codes that you can eventually understand, with some clever tricks. I will show them to my students as example of clever things that they should not do (it's always better to show clever examples rather than stupid ones...) Thanks

  • Hot to set class variable to be visible to its public static methods?

    - by RCola
    Why I can noy access my variable p in mull form iterate method? How to resolve a problem? Hot to set class variable to be visible to its public static methods? public class mull { public static void main(String[] args) throws InterruptedException { final JPanel p = createAndShowGUI(); Timer timer = new Timer(1000, new MyTimerActionListener()); timer.start(); try { Thread.sleep(10000); } catch (InterruptedException e) { } timer.stop(); public static void iterate(){ for (int i = 0; i < 55; i++){ // "p cannot be resolved" p.moveSquare(i*10, i*10); p.setParamsRing(i*5, i*7, 200, 200); // p.repaint(); } } } class MyPanel extends JPanel { .... } How to access variable set in another method (in this example main())? Why Eclipse forces me to use this ((MyPanel) p).setParamsRing(i*5, i*7, 200, 200); instead of this p.setParamsRing(i*5, i*7, 200, 200);?

  • Navigation Controller with Tab Bar only on first view

    - by dinoc
    I am seeking advice on how to start my project. I need to use a combination of the navigation controller and tabbar controller but on the second screen, I need the tabbar controller not to be there. Here is a brief description of the two main screens Screen 1 will have a tabbar controller with two tabs. The first tab is a tableview and when you tap on a table cell, it drills down to Screen 2. The second tab is just a filter view that updates the table in the first tab of Screen 1. Screen two is just a details screen from the cells of Screen 1. The catch is that I don't want the TabBar on Screen 2. I am struggling with how to get started. Do I start with a Navigation-based application since I need to be able to drill down? How do I just add a tab bar to the main screen of the navigation based app? I can't start with a Tab Bar application because if I load a navigation controller inside one of the views of the tab controller, then when I drill down inside the nav controller, the tab bar still stays on the next screen when I need it to go away. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Passing array of pointers to another class

    - by user310153
    Hi, I am trying to do the following: in main.cpp: // Create an array of pointers to Block objects Block *blk[64]; for (i=0; i<8; i++) { for (j=0; j<8; j++) { int x_low = i*80; int y_low = j*45; blk[j*8+i] = new Block(30, x_low+40.0f, y_low+7.5f, &b); } } And then I am trying to pass it to the graphics object I have created: Graphics g(640, 480, &b, &p, blk[0], number_of_blocks); the graphics constructor looks like: Graphics::Graphics(int width, int height, Ball *b, Paddle *p, Block *blk, int number_of_blocks) { if I look at what is contained in the array from the graphics object, only the first item exists and then all the other items are in hyperspace: for (int i=0; i<64; i++) { printf("for block %d, %f, %f ", i, (_blk+(sizeof(_blk)*i))->_x_low, (_blk+(sizeof(_blk)*i))->_y_low); printf("blah %d\n", (_blk+(sizeof(_blk)*i))); } and if I look at the addresses, they are different (6956552 rather than 2280520 when I examine the addresses in the main class using: printf(" blah %d\n", &blk[j*8*i]); I am sure there must be something subtle I am doing wrong as its like I have copied the first item from the blk array to a new address when passed to the graphics object. Does this make sense? Any ideas? Cheers, Scott

  • Why this doesnt't work in C++?

    - by user3377450
    I'm doing something and I have this: //main.cpp file template<typename t1, typename t2> std::ostream& operator<<(std::ostream& os, const std::pair<t1, t2>& pair) { return os << "< " << pair.first << " , " << pair.second << " >"; } int main() { std::map<int, int> map = { { 1, 2 }, { 2, 3 } }; std::cout << *map.begin() << std::endl;//This works std::copy(map.begin(), map.end(), std::ostream_iterator<std::pair<int,int> >(std::cout, " "));//this doesn't work } I guess this is not working because in the std::copy algorithm the operator isn't defined, but what can I do?

  • Deleted array value still showing up on foreach loop in AS3 (bug in flash?)

    - by nexus
    It took me many hours to narrow down a problem in some code to this reproducible error, which seems to me like a bug in AVM2. Can anyone shed light on why this is occurring or how to fix it? When the value at index 1 is deleted and a value is subsequently set at index 0, the non-existent (undefined) value at index 1 will now show up in a foreach loop. I have only been able to produce this outcome with index 1 and 0 (not any other n and n-1). Run this code: package { import flash.display.Sprite; public class Main extends Sprite { public function Main():void { var bar : Array = new Array(6); out(bar); //proper behavior trace("bar[1] = 1", bar[1] = 1); out(bar); //proper behavior trace("delete bar[1]", delete bar[1]); out(bar); //proper behavior trace("bar[4] = 4", bar[4] = 4); out(bar); //for each loop will now iterate over the undefined position at index 1 trace("bar[0] = 0", bar[0] = 0); out(bar); trace("bar[3] = 3", bar[3] = 3); out(bar); } private function out(bar:Array):void { trace(bar); for each(var i : * in bar) { trace(i); } } } } It will give this output: ,,,,, bar[1] = 1 1 ,1,,,, 1 delete bar[1] true ,,,,, bar[4] = 4 4 ,,,,4, 4 bar[0] = 0 0 0,,,,4, 0 undefined 4 bar[3] = 3 3 0,,,3,4, 0 undefined 4 3

  • Template access of symbol in unnamed namespace

    - by Fred Larson
    We are upgrading our XL C/C++ compiler from V8.0 to V10.1 and found some code that is now giving us an error, even though it compiled under V8.0. Here's a minimal example: test.h: #include <iostream> #include <string> template <class T> void f() { std::cout << TEST << std::endl; } test.cpp: #include <string> #include "test.h" namespace { std::string TEST = "test"; } int main() { f<int>(); return 0; } Under V10.1, we get the following error: "test.h", line 7.16: 1540-0274 (S) The name lookup for "TEST" did not find a declaration. "test.cpp", line 6.15: 1540-1303 (I) "std::string TEST" is not visible. "test.h", line 5.6: 1540-0700 (I) The previous message was produced while processing "f<int>()". "test.cpp", line 11.3: 1540-0700 (I) The previous message was produced while processing "main()". We found a similar difference between g++ 3.3.2 and 4.3.2. I also found in g++, if I move the #include "test.h" to be after the unnamed namespace declaration, the compile error goes away. So here's my question: what does the Standard say about this? When a template is instantiated, is that instance considered to be declared at the point where the template itself was declared, or is the standard not that clear on this point? I did some looking though the n2461.pdf draft, but didn't really come up with anything definitive.

  • Calling a method from another view in objective-c. (iphone sdk).

    - by MarcZero
    Hello. I am currently creating a multi-view game on the iPhone platform. I have my main view start to play some background music upon loading. I then go to another view and start the game. I am trying to get the background music from the original view to stop once I start the game. I am having trouble getting the stop playing music message to my original view. Here is the relevant info: The main view where the sound is played from is just a subView of the programViewController class called *viewController. The heading is in the programAppDelegate class. The sound is done using the AVAudioPlayer class and plays fine when the program starts up and when I navigate to other subviews that are added on by going through the menu system. In the view that I want to start the game, I attempt to call the instance of the class to turn of the player but anytime I use this format of code: [viewController #######]; It gives a build error of "viewController undeclared" no matter what I put after the "viewController" in the message.I have attempted to import the programAppDelegate.h file but it still gives the same error. I realize this might be a simple misunderstanding of the objective-c language but I cannot find any info on this issue. I am a recent convert from Java so I am trying to wrap my head around everything. Thank you for your time!

  • CodeIgniter subfolders and URI routing

    - by shummel7845
    I’ve read the manual on URI routing and views and something is not clicking with me. In my views folder, I have a subfolder called products. In there is a file called product_view. In my controller, I have: function index() { $data['title'] = 'Product Overview'; $data['main_content'] = 'products/product_view'; $this->load->view('templates/main.php', $data); } The template loads a header view, a footer view and a navigation view, plus the view as a main content variable. In my URI routing, I have: $route['products/product-overview'] = 'products/product_view']; This causes a 404 error when I try to go to domain.com/products/product-overview. Do I need to do something with my .htaccess? If so, what? Here is my .htaccess: Options +FollowSymLinks Options -Indexes DirectoryIndex index.php RewriteEngine on RewriteCond $1 !^(index\.php|resources|images|css|js|robots\.txt|favicon\.ico) RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?/$1 [L,QSA] I’d appreciate some specific help, as the documentation isn’t specific on how to address this. I’ve done a little searching in the forums, and didn’t see anything, but I’m posting this while I keep looking.

  • multiple dependent android projects in eclipse

    - by lope
    Hi there! I just started to play with android dev and java+eclipse is pretty new to me. I managed to create simple project and run it on my device. Now I want to create simple game (more of them actually) and I would love to use shared code base for all of them (game loop, initialization, etc..). Problem is that I have no idea how to correctly do this. I created android project called engine with all basic stuff that I need and made it work on device. Now I tried to create another project in same workspace called mygame. Main class (activity) of mygame is MyGameApp which inherits from EngineApp (main activity of my engine project) which inherits from Activity. I added engine project into required projects in mygame build path tab in properties. Problem is that when I try to run this project it crashes on ClassNotFoundException trying to find my MyGameApp class. Any help (or pointer to some articles that explain how this is done) is greatly appreciated. few hours of googling didn't help much :/

    I'm currently working on a small short-lived project. But despite the size it's complicated enough with very unclear logic. That's why it was started by more experienced developers. They work on it from time to time because it's not their main project. They made some code drafts with numerous places which 'would be rewritten in the nearest future'. After that they added several another 'temporary pieces'. And then again.. So, now the project is a mess of 'half-working' pieces of code with some hardcoded values, like file names or some constants which 'will be replaced latter with working parts'. The API is awful (nobody thinks about it actually). And it's really, really hard to do development now (for me it's the main and only project). I caught myself thinking that I spent about an hour every day just to understand again all that tricky 'temporary' things and API weaknesses. And after that hour my brain melts. I can't just say that "guys, your code smells like a trash dump". What's the correct way?

  • Java: Efficient Equivalent to Removing while Iterating a Collection

    - by Claudiu
    Hello everyone. We all know you can't do this: for (Object i : l) if (condition(i)) l.remove(i); ConcurrentModificationException etc... this apparently works sometimes, but not always. Here's some specific code: public static void main(String[] args) { Collection<Integer> l = new ArrayList<Integer>(); for (int i=0; i < 10; ++i) { l.add(new Integer(4)); l.add(new Integer(5)); l.add(new Integer(6)); } for (Integer i : l) { if (i.intValue() == 5) l.remove(i); } System.out.println(l); } This, of course, results in: Exception in thread "main" java.util.ConcurrentModificationException ...even though multiple threads aren't doing it... Anyway. What's the best solution to this problem? "Best" here means most time and space efficient (I realize you can't always have both!) I'm also using an arbitrary Collection here, not necessarily an ArrayList, so you can't rely on get.

  • Error with `Thread.Sleep` during automatic testing on TeamCity 5

    - by yeyeyerman
    Hello, I'm having some problems executing the tests of the application I'm developing. All the tests execute normally with ReSharper and in NCover. However, the execution of one of these tests in TeamCity is generating an error. This test initializes two objects, the object under test and a simulator of a real object. Both objects will communicate throug a serial link in a representation of the real scenario. ObjectSimulator r_simulator = new ObjectSimulator(...); ObjectDriver r_driver = new ObjectDriver(...); Assert.IsTrue(r_driver.Connect() == ErrorCode.Success); The simulator just do the following in the constructor public class ObjectSimulator { ... public ObjectSimulator() { // serial port configuration m_port = new SerialPort(); m_port.DataReceived += DataReceivedEvent; } ... } The main object has two threads. The main thread of the application and a timer to refresh a watchdog timer in the real object. public ErrorCode Connect() { ... StartSynchroTimer(); Thread.Sleep(4); // to check if the timer is working properly ... } The problem seems to be comming from the Thread.Sleep() call, as when I remove it everything works. The ObjectSimulator somehow doesn't execute the DataReceived event callback. How can I resolve this issue?

  • How to make a multi vector in C++

    - by Bob Dealio
    I was wondering why can't I have a multi vectors in C ++ /please take a look at this example, it's not working though. there are only two parts to the code, foo function to manipulate the vector and the main function to echo them. typedef vector< vector<double> > MyVec; MyVec foo() { MyVec v; for (int index=0; index < 2; index ++) { for (int j=0; j<5; j++) { v[index][j]; } } return v; } int main () { MyVec z = foo(); for (int i = 0; i < z.size(); i++) { cout << z[i][1]; } return 0; }
