I'm looking for a .Net implementation of a multiset. Can anyone recommend a good one?
(A multiset, or bag, is a set that can have duplicate values, and on which you can do set operations: intersection, difference, etc. A shopping cart for instance could be thought of as a multiset because you can have multiple occurrences of the same product.)
Hi,
I am creating an ASP.NET custom control.
I want to set the body onload event of the ASPX page where the control resides.
Please note I cannot rely on the body tag in the ASPX page having runat="server".

Cheers.
How can I emulate Expression.Default (new in .NET 4.0) in 3.5?
Do I need to manually check the expression type and use different code for reference and value types?

Hi,
I'm just wondering if there's a web hosting site that offers hosting for PHP and ASP.NET at the same time. It would be great if you give me a site that offers free service. I would like to use it for testing purposes only. But I could still look for affordable one.
Comments/Suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
Hi,
I'm just thinking if there is any way how to get information about element in HTML in my .NET application.
The input is HTML page and path to CSS files etc. I want to take e.g. H1 tag and found what will be the CSS for it. Is there any code or can I use IE and try to take this information from it automatically inside of my application?
I have downloaded both samples for the Facebook Developer Kit from Codeplex and Facebook.NET followed both tutorials down to the word - But as soon as I browse to me app on Facebook I am getting the following error for BOTH versions?
API Error Code: 100
API Error Description: Invalid parameter
Error Message: Requires valid next URL.
Anyone else had this problem? I'm struggling to find an answer to what the error actually means? Especially as the starts kits are supposed to work out the box?
Is there a quick and dirty way of using a query passed as follows:
domain.com/mypage.aspx/product/toycar/
I've done it before in PHP, but this needs to be done in page (in this instance).

I only have access to the aspx page and code behind, and have to work in asp.net 2 (i wish i was using 3.5)
We use ComponentOne controls in our Winforms application for .NET 2.0 and we have a problem when we attempt to use it on FIPS validated platforms - the licx file seems to fail and the control creation fails and even the ComponentOne activation seems to fail. Is there a workaround for this ?
We have an ASP.NET 3.5 application which we need to run on 64bit, but when we do the performance is worst than when we enable 32 bit on the App Pool. It seems like there is something we use in the project which requires 32 bit, but we cannot find what.
At face value, it would seem that object initializers present a problem for .net 4.0 "code contracts", where normally the invariant should be established by the time the object constructor is finished. Presumably, however, object-initializers require properties to be set after construction is complete.
My question is if the invariants of "code contracts" are able to handle object initializers, "as if" the properties were set before the constructor completes? That would be very nice indeed!!
Hi everybody,
I develop a simple file manager inside an ASP.NET Web site (not web application).
I notice that every time I rename or delete a folder, the site gets recompiled - i.e. the very next web request after delete or rename operation takes considerably much time to execute.
It's only true for folders, not for files.
Why does this occur?
P.S. I use WebDev server (Cassini), haven't tested in on IIS yet.
Hey,
I'm developing an blog using ASP.NET, and I want that the user can be able to add comments.
So I want to implement the idea of facebook on adding comments.
The comment will be stored in the database, so I will be able to load it with the page if the user goes to another web page.
You have any idea how can I do this thing ( Ajax, Javascript, jQuery, Ajax Toolkit ) ?
How do I reset an asp.net validation control via JavaScript? The current code sample clears the error message text but does not reset the validation control for the next form submission.
var cv= document.getElementById("<%= MyValidationContorl.ClientID %>");
cv.innerHTML = '';
Hello experts,
I have many PDF documents in binary format which is in the SQL Server 2008 database. I have a gridview in my ASP.net page. When a user clicks on any ID column of the record I need to open the pdf in the browser.
Are there any free PDF viewer controls out there? How can I convert the binary PDF file and display as PDF in the browser.
Thanks

I am using .NET json parser and i would like to serialize my config file so it is readable instead of
{"blah":"v", "blah2":"v2"}
to something nicer like
{
"blah":"v",
"blah2":"v2"
}
my code is something like
using System.Web.Script.Serialization;
var ser = new JavaScriptSerializer();
configSz = ser.Serialize(config);
using (var f = (TextWriter)File.CreateText(configFn))
{
f.WriteLine(configSz);
f.Close();
}
What error handling should be used in VB.NET?
Should you use the "On Error Goto ErrorHandler ... Exit Sub ErrHandler ... End Sub" pattern or should you use the "try { ... } catch { ... } finally { ...}" pattern?
Is it possible to restart server from ASP.NET application that is hosted by LocalSystem or LocalService account. This is working when I create custom administrative account and put AppPool to run under that account:
Process.Start("shutdown", "/r /d 4:1 /t 10");
However, I don't want to have custom accounts (because of password expiry and need to update all AppPools when User passwords are changed).
So, is this possible?
We are using Mysql.exe to restore database by the following query
string cmd ="-h" + ViewState["host"].ToString() + " " + "-u" +
ViewState["user"].ToString() + " " + "-p" + ViewState["password"].ToString() +
" " + ViewState["dbName"].ToString() + "<" + " " +
Server.MapPath("BackupFiles/") + path;
The same query is executing in MySql command prompt but we are not able to restore using the above query in VisualStudio .Net, we have tried MysqlImport.exe to do the restore but it was no use. we are newbie to MySql if any help would be appreciated.

Is it possible to convert Xaml into a .Net Compact Framework UI (dll, exe, etc...)? In fact any XML based representation would be nice (QT, GTK, etc...).
