  • SEO difference between dash and hypen

    - by FFish
I understand with dashes once can search for keywords in different order. What if my keyword has a space in it like real estate or New York Should I use underscores in this case? If I do a Google search for New_York Google hints me: Did you mean: New York There is clearly a difference. Even capitals seems to make a difference, looking at the search results..

  • Create a nested list

    - by sico87
    How would I create a nested list, I currently have this public function getNav($cat,$subcat){ //gets all sub categories for a specific category if(!$this->checkValue($cat)) return false; //checks data $query = false; if($cat=='NULL'){ $sql = "SELECT itemID, title, parent, url, description, image FROM p_cat WHERE deleted = 0 AND parent is NULL ORDER BY position;"; $query = $this->db->query($sql) or die($this->db->error); }else{ //die($cat); $sql = "SET @parent = (SELECT c.itemID FROM p_cat c WHERE url = '".$this->sql($cat)."' AND deleted = 0); SELECT c1.itemID, c1.title, c1.parent, c1.url, c1.description, c1.image, (SELECT c2.url FROM p_cat c2 WHERE c2.itemID = c1.parent LIMIT 1) as parentUrl FROM p_cat c1 WHERE c1.deleted = 0 AND c1.parent = @parent ORDER BY c1.position;"; $query = $this->db->multi_query($sql) or die($this->db->error); $this->db->store_result(); $this->db->next_result(); $query = $this->db->store_result(); } return $query; } public function getNav($cat=false, $subcat=false){ //gets a list of all categories form this level, if $cat is false it returns top level nav if($cat==false || strtolower($cat)=='all-products') $cat='NULL'; $ds = $this->data->getNav($cat, $subcat); $nav = $ds ? $ds : false; $html = ''; //create html if($nav){ $html = '<ul>'; //var_dump($nav->fetch_assoc()); while($row = $nav->fetch_assoc()){ $url = isset($row['parentUrl']) ? $row['parentUrl'].'/'.$row['url'] : $row['url']; $current = $subcat==$row['url'] ? ' class="current"' : ''; $html .= '<li'.$current.'><a href="/'.$url.'/">'.$row['title'].'</a></li>'; } $html .='</ul>'; } return $html; } The sql returns parents and children, for each parent I need the child to nest in a list.

  • using ruby-debug with jruby-1.5.0

    - by brad
Release notes say that ruby-debug is installed by default. I'm using rvm. In my rails app I figured something as simple as script/server --debugger would suffice, but it complains that the ruby-debug gem isn't installed, suggests using gem install ruby-debug, which of course doesn't work (building native extensions) and is contrary to the docs anyway. Just wondering if anyone's had any luck using the built in ruby-debug in jruby 1.5 and what one needs to do in order run jruby in debug mode

  • MySQL: What's the best to use, Unix TimeStamp Or DATETIME

    - by Axel
Hello, Probably many coders want to ask this question. it is What's the adventages of each one of those MySQL time formats. and which one you will prefer to use it in your apps. For me i use Unix timestamp because maybe i find it easy to convert & order records with it, and also because i never tried the DATETIME thing. but anyways i'm ready to change my mind if anyone tells me i'm wrong. Thanks

  • Find the shortest path in a graph which visits certain nodes.

    - by dmd
I have a undirected graph with about 100 nodes and about 200 edges. One node is labelled 'start', one is 'end', and there's about a dozen labelled 'mustpass'. I need to find the shortest path through this graph that starts at 'start', ends at 'end', and passes through all of the 'mustpass' nodes (in any order). ( http://3e.org/local/maize-graph.png / http://3e.org/local/maize-graph.dot.txt is the graph in question - it represents a corn maze in Lancaster, PA)

  • jQuery, Animate opacity to 1 then remove the opacity property to make it better looking on IE

    - by Emily
Hi everyone, I tried the jQuery fadeIn animation in all browsers and it work good, but not that much on IE. the Alpha png images are so creepy after appending the CSS opacity, but i have an idea and i don't know how to implement it using jQuery. The idea is to fadeIn the element and when the animation is finished it will automatically remove the opacity property in order to make the picture quality better. How to do that? Note: i'm using Animate and not FadeIn. Thanks

  • Is it possible to generate a .h macros file from bjam?

    - by Gnurou
I need to dynamically generate some macros into a .h configuration file that C programs can include in order to check which options are enabled, in a fashion similar to what is possible with CMake's CONFIGURE_FILE macro. But after looking in the doc and the web, I could not find something useful. Is it possible to generate such a file from bjam and have the dependencies handled correctly? If so, how would you do it?

  • When to call glEnable(GL_FRAMEBUFFER_SRGB)?

    - by Steven Lu
I have a rendering system where I draw to an FBO with a multisampled renderbuffer, then blit it to another FBO with a texture in order to resolve the samples in order to read off the texture to perform post-processing shading while drawing to the backbuffer (FBO index 0). Now I'd like to get some correct sRGB output... The problem is the behavior of the program is rather inconsistent between when I run it on OS X and Windows and this also changes depending on the machine: On Windows with the Intel HD 3000 it will not apply the sRGB nonlinearity but on my other machine with a Nvidia GTX 670 it does. On the Intel HD 3000 in OS X it will also apply it. So this probably means that I'm not setting my GL_FRAMEBUFFER_SRGB enable state at the right points in the program. However I can't seem to find any tutorials that actually tell me when I ought to enable it, they only ever mention that it's dead easy and comes at no performance cost. I am currently not loading in any textures so I haven't had a need to deal with linearizing their colors yet. To force the program to not simply spit back out the linear color values, what I have tried is simply comment out my glDisable(GL_FRAMEBUFFER_SRGB) line, which effectively means this setting is enabled for the entire pipeline, and I actually redundantly force it back on every frame. I don't know if this is correct or not. It certainly does apply a nonlinearization to the colors but I can't tell if this is getting applied twice (which would be bad). It could apply the gamma as I render to my first FBO. It could do it when I blit the first FBO to the second FBO. Why not? I've gone so far as to take screen shots of my final frame and compare raw pixel color values to the colors I set them to in the program: I set the input color to RGB(1,2,3) and the output is RGB(13,22,28). That seems like quite a lot of color compression at the low end and leads me to question if the gamma is getting applied multiple times. I have just now gone through the sRGB equation and I can verify that the conversion seems to be only applied once as linear 1/255, 2/255, and 3/255 do indeed map to sRGB 13/255, 22/255, and 28/255 using the equation 1.055*C^(1/2.4)+0.055. Given that the expansion is so large for these low color values it really should be obvious if the sRGB color transform is getting applied more than once. So, I still haven't determined what the right thing to do is. does glEnable(GL_FRAMEBUFFER_SRGB) only apply to the final framebuffer values, in which case I can just set this during my GL init routine and forget about it hereafter?

Here's the SQL: SELECT portfolio.*, projects.*, types.* FROM projects, types LEFT JOIN portfolio ON portfolio.pfProjectID = projects.projectID WHERE projects.projectType = types.typeID AND types.typeID = #URL.a# ORDER BY types.typeSort, projects.projectPriority ASC and the new error I'm receiving: Unknown column 'projects.projectID' in 'on clause' How can I convert this to compatible SQL for the newer MySQL version? Thanks very much!

  • Sorting a list of colors in one dimension?

    - by Ptah- Opener of the Mouth
I would like to sort a one-dimensional list of colors so that colors that a typical human would perceive as "like" each other are near each other. Obviously this is a difficult or perhaps impossible problem to get "perfectly", since colors are typically described with three dimensions, but that doesn't mean that there aren't some sorting methods that look obviously more natural than others. For example, sorting by RGB doesn't work very well, as it will sort in the following order, for example: (1) R=254 G=0 B=0 (2) R=254 G=255 B=0 (3) R=255 G=0 B=0 (4) R=255 G=255 B=0 That is, it will alternate those colors red, yellow, red, yellow, with the two "reds" being essentially imperceivably different than each other, and the two yellows also being imperceivably different from each other. But sorting by HLS works much better, generally speaking, and I think HSL even better than that; with either, the reds will be next to each other, and the yellows will be next to each other. But HLS/HSL has some problems, too; things that people would perceive as "black" could be split far apart from each other, as could things that people would perceive as "white". Again, I understand that I pretty much have to accept that there will be some splits like this; I'm just wondering if anyone has found a better way than HLS/HSL. And I'm aware that "better" is somewhat arbitrary; I mean "more natural to a typical human". For example, a vague thought I've had, but have not yet tried, is perhaps "L is the most important thing if it is very high or very low", but otherwise it is the least important. Has anyone tried this? Has it worked well? What specifically did you decide "very low" and "very high" meant? And so on. Or has anyone found anything else that would improve upon HSL? I should also note that I am aware that I can define a space-filling curve through the cube of colors, and order them one-dimensionally as they would be encountered while travelling along that curve. That would eliminate perceived discontinuities. However, it's not really what I want; I want decent overall large-scale groupings more than I want perfect small-scale groupings. Thanks in advance for any help.

  • How to handle ordering of @Rule's when they are dependant on eachother

    - by Lennart Schedin
I use embedded servers that run inside Junit test cases. Sometimes these servers require a working directory (for example the Apache Directory server). The new @Rule in Junit 4.7 can handle these cases. The TemporaryFolder-Rule can create a temporary directory. A custom ExternalResource-Rule can be created for server. But how do I handle if I want to pass the result from one rule into another: import static org.junit.Assert.assertEquals; import java.io.*; import org.junit.*; import org.junit.rules.*; public class FolderRuleOrderingTest { @Rule public TemporaryFolder folder = new TemporaryFolder(); @Rule public MyNumberServer server = new MyNumberServer(folder); @Test public void testMyNumberServer() throws IOException { server.storeNumber(10); assertEquals(10, server.getNumber()); } /** Simple server that can store one number */ private static class MyNumberServer extends ExternalResource { private TemporaryFolder folder; /** The actual datafile where the number are stored */ private File dataFile; public MyNumberServer(TemporaryFolder folder) { this.folder = folder; } @Override protected void before() throws Throwable { if (folder.getRoot() == null) { throw new RuntimeException("TemporaryFolder not properly initialized"); } //All server data are stored to a working folder File workingFolder = folder.newFolder("my-work-folder"); dataFile = new File(workingFolder, "datafile"); } public void storeNumber(int number) throws IOException { dataFile.createNewFile(); DataOutputStream out = new DataOutputStream(new FileOutputStream(dataFile)); out.writeInt(number); } public int getNumber() throws IOException { DataInputStream in = new DataInputStream(new FileInputStream(dataFile)); return in.readInt(); } } } In this code the folder is sent as a parameter into the server so that the server can create a working directory to store data. However this does not work because Junit processes the rules in reverse order as they are defined in the file. The TemporaryFolder Rule will not be executed before the server Rule. Thus the root-folder in TempraryFolder will be null, resulting that any files are created relative to the current working directory. If I reverse the order of the attributes in my class I get a compile error because I cannot reference a variable before it is defined. I'm using Junit 4.8.1 (because the ordering of rules was fixed a bit from the 4.7 release)
