  • mysql query execution time - can i get this in milliseconds?

    I'm comparing a few different approaches to getting some data in mysql, directly at the console, using the SQL_NO_CACHE option to make sure mysql keeps running the full query every time. Mysql gives me the execution time back in seconds, to two decimal places. I'd really like to get the result back in milliseconds (ideally to one or two decimal places), to get a better idea of improvements (or lack of). Is there an option i can set in mysql to achieve this? thanks, max

  • VB Classes Best Practice - give all properties values?

    Sorry if this is a bit random, but is it good practice to give all fields of a class a value when the class is instanciated? I'm just wondering if its better practice to have a constuctor that takes no parameters and gives all the fields default values, or whether fields that have values should be assigned and others left alone until required?     Hello, I started using Zend_Paginator, it works everything fine but I noticed that there is one more query which slows the load time down. The additional query: SELECT COUNT(1) AS `zend_paginator_row_count` FROM `content` The normal query: SELECT `content`.`id`, `content`.`name` FROM `content` LIMIT 2 PHP: $adapter = new Zend_Paginator_Adapter_DbSelect($table->select()->from($table, array('id', 'name'))); $paginator = new Zend_Paginator($adapter); Could I merge the two querys into one (for better performance)?

    Hye there i have a have datasets where this data i have test it on weka with J48 classifier It give me an output = 87.2611% Total of instances = 157 Correctly Instances = 137 Incorrectly instance = 20 Then i have do a visualize classifier error on my data. However my result have been decrease to: New result = 85.4015% Correctly Instances = 117 Incorrectly instances = 20 Total of instances = 137 Is there any reason for that? Should my result become much better after i do the visualize classifier error?

    I am trying to convert an index of 1 to 27 into the corresponding uppercase letter. I know that in C++ I could type this: char letter = 'A' + (char)(myIndex % 27); This same code does not work in C#. How can I accomplish this task in C#? EDIT: I'd rather not have to encode an enum or switch statement for this if there is a better mathematical solution like the one above.

    I want a regular expression to validate a nickname: 6 to 36 characters, it should contain at least one letter. Other allowed characters: 0-9 and underscores. This is what I have now: if(!preg_match('/^.*(?=\d{0,})(?=[a-zA-Z]{1,})(?=[a-zA-Z0-9_]{6,36}).*$/i', $value)){ echo 'bad'; } else{ echo 'good'; } This seems to work, but when a validate this strings for example: 11111111111a is not valid, but it should aaaaaaa!aaaa is valid, but it shouldn't Any ideas to make this regexp better?

    I want to copy the entire contents of a directory from one location to another in C#. There doesn't appear to be a way to do this using System.IO classes without lots of recursion. There is a method in VB that we can use if we add a reference to Microsoft.VisualBasic: new Microsoft.VisualBasic.Devices.Computer(). FileSystem.CopyDirectory( sourceFolder, outputFolder ); This seems like a rather ugly hack. Is there a better way?

    Hi there, I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice on 'best practices' for using global state in a web application - specifically PHP, although im looking for generic best practices i.e. design patterns etc. At the moment I just use a static class, calling it Configs. I suppose this is similar to using the registry pattern but surely there is a more elegant way of handling global data within an application - i just cant think of a better way though.

    When debugging in PHP I frequently find it useful to simply stick a var_dump($foo, $bar, ...) in my code to show me the the what a variable is, what is value is, and the same for anything that it contains. What is a good python equivalent for this? I have seen several things in my Google searching that are somewhat equivalent, but nothing that is the same or better.
