  • jQuery 1.4 Dynamically created images aspect ratio incorrect in IE8 and max-width

    - by Chris
    After upgrading to jQuery 1.4, when I try to add an image to a page dynamically using jQuery 1.4 in IE8, the image will lose the correct aspect ratio. This appears to affect only IE8 (IE7 and Firefox work fine) with jQuery 1.4 (1.3.2 works fine). Including the jQuery compatability file does not fix the problem. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" > <head> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4/jquery.min.js" language="javascript" type="text/javascript"></script> <!-- Switching to 1.3.2 fixes the problem --> <!--<script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.min.js" language="javascript" type="text/javascript"></script>--> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { var dynImg = $('<img></img>').attr('src', 'http://www.google.com/intl/en_ALL/images/logo.gif'); $('body').append(dynImg); }); </script> <style type="text/css"> img { max-width: 5em; } </style> </head> <body></body></html>

  • Configure Tomcat to send web pages compatible to IE 7 or 6

    - by Spiderman
I have got an application that is not compatible to work using IE8 browser. I am looking for a way to to configure Tomcat on which this application run, so the pages could be read by IE8 and treated as if they are IE7 or IE6 By googling so far I found a possible suggestion which say to add to the http response the header: X-UA-Compatible: IE=EmulateIE7 here that tell IE8 to be like IE7. The problem is that this way requires adding a filter that should be added on application level. I'd like to know if any of you is familiar with a more generic way that Tomcat enables to send its http content to be IE7 (or IE6) compatible ?

  • How to solve/hack fading semi-transparent PNG bug in IE8?

    - by Soul_Master
As you know, IE6 has bug that can't display semi-transparent PNG file without using non-standard style like filter. In IE7, this problem is fixed. But It still has some bug about PNG file. It can't correctly display fading semi-transparent PNG file. You can clearly see it when you use show/hide function in jQuery with semi-transparent PNG file. The background of image is displayed with non-transparent black color. Do you have any idea for solve this question by using jQuery. Update Let's see my testing As you see, IE8 always incorrectly displays PNG-24 image. Moreover, IE8 still correctly display PNG-8 image when I fade(jQuery.fadeOut function) it only. But It incorrectly display PNG-8 image when I fade & resize(jQuery.hide function) at the same time. PS. You can download my testing source code from here. Thanks,

  • SVN access denied when comparing revisions

    - by Gonzalo
We're using an SVN repository. I am getting the error below when we try to compare a local unmodified file with the latest revision of the file in the repository. In other words, someone's checked in a change and if I update I will get their change but first I want to see what their change was. DOn't think it matters but we're using Xcode and using the menu item SCM - Compare With - Latest. Error: 220001 (Item is not readable) Description: Unreadable path encountered; access denied Any pointers where to look to fix this appreciated. I looked in the svnserve.conf which has the default settings. Nothing jumped out to me. Also, % svn log returns "svn: Item is not readable". Thanks, Gonzalo

  • Access violation after GetInterface/QueryInterface in Delphi

    - by W55tKQbuRu28Q4xv
Hi everyone! First, I'm very new in Delphi and COM, but I should build COM application in Delphi. I read a lot of articles and notes on the internets, but COM and COM in Delphi are still not clear to me. My sources - http://www.everfall.com/paste/id.php?wisdn8hyhzkt (about 80 lines). I try to make a COM Interface and Impl class - it works if I call an interface method from Delphi (I create an impl object via TestClient.Create), but if I try to create an object from outer world (from Java, via com4j) my application crashed with following exception: Project Kernel.exe raised exception class $C0000005 with message 'access violation at 0x00000002: read of address 0x00000002'. If I set a breakpoint in QueryInterface - it breaks, but when I come out from function - all crashes. What I'm doing wrong? What I still missing? What I can/should read about COM (in Delphi) to avoid dumb questions like this?

  • What causes the error "Can't execute code from a freed script"

    - by tjrobinson
I thought I'd found the solution a while ago (see my blog): If you ever get the JavaScript (or should that be JScript) error "Can't execute code from a freed script" - try moving any meta tags in the head so that they're before your script tags. ...but based on one of the most recent blog comments, the fix I suggested may not work for everyone. I thought this would be a good one to open up to the StackOverflow community.... What causes the error "Can't execute code from a freed script" and what are the solutions/workarounds?

  • CrossPost access to data

    - by Craig
Hi, I have a search form on a page that posts back to itself and shows the results, all works fine. I now have a requirement to put the same search form on the site home page. This needs to post back to the search form and run the findResults code. Using the PostBackURL parameter on the home page form's submit button I can hit the search page ok. However, when using the following code in the Page_Load section of the search page I hit the problem of not being able to access data from the posting page as I get the following error message on the line starting "yearList.SelectedValue....": "'Site._default1.Protected WithEvents yearList As System.Web.UI.WebControls.DropDownList' is not accessible in this context because it is 'Protected'". '################################# '# Handle form post from Home page '################################# Dim crossPostBackPage As Site._default1 If Not (Page.PreviousPage Is Nothing) Then If Not (Page.IsCrossPagePostBack) Then If (Page.PreviousPage.IsValid) Then crossPostBackPage = CType(PreviousPage, Site._default1) yearList.SelectedValue = crossPostBackPage.yearList.SelectedValue getAvailability() End If End If End If As I didn't declare yearList Protected, I don't know where to change it or how to. Any advice would be appreciated, Craig

  • The HTML5 doctype is not triggering standards mode in IE8

    - by El Guapo
i work for a company where all our sites currently use the XHTML 1.0 transitional doctype (yes i know it is very old school). I want to change them all to use the HTML5 doctype seeing as it is backwards compatible. One of the reasons why i want to make the switch is because in IE8 if someone has the developer tools installed then the old XHTML doctype switches the browser into compatibility mode and renders the page as IE7. From reading up on it i was led to believe that the HTML5 doctype will set any page to render in standards mode, but this is not happening when i test it on our staging server it still flips into IE7 rendering mode. The weird thing is if i save the page with HTML5 doctype locally and open it, it is rendering in IE8 standards mode. There must be something else causing it to drop into compatibility IE7 rendering. Any ideas what this could be? Below is the head of the test page i have been looking at: <!DOCTYPE html > <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:og="http://opengraphprotocol.org/schema/" xmlns:fb="http://www.facebook.com/2008/fbml"> <head> <title>Burton - Mens Clothing - Mens Fashion - Burton Menswear</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <meta name="description" content="Burton is one of the UK's leading men's clothing &amp; fashion retailers, with a range of men's clothing designed to make you look &amp; feel good. • Let MySQL users create databases, but allow access to only their own databases

    - by eikes
I want to have multiple a MySQL users to be able to issue commands like CREATE DATABASE dbTest; But I also want each of these users to be able to see and access only their own databases. All I could find was how to either create the databases by a DBA and grant the privileges on this database to the specific user: GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON dbTest.* TO 'user'; or grant privileges on all databases to a user: GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* TO 'user'; But neither is what I want, because it needs to scale and be secure.

  • dximagetransform.matrix, absolutely position child elements not rotating in IE 8 standards mode

    - by davydka
I've looked all over for more information on this, and would like to know why it happens. Here's the code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html> <head> </head> <body> <div style="position:absolute; top:200px; left:200px; height:200px; width:200px; border:1px solid black; filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Matrix(sizingMethod='auto expand', M11=0.9886188373396114, M12=-0.15044199698646263, M21=0.15044199698646263, M22=0.9886188373396114);"> <div style="position:absolute; top:10px; left:10px; border:1px solid darkblue;"> I do not rotate in IE 8. </div> </div> </body> </html> The problem is that absolutely or relatively positioned elements within a div that has been rotated using MS's dximagetransform.matrix do not inherit the transformation in IE 8. IE 6 & 7 render correctly, and I can solve the IE8 problem by triggering compatibility mode, but I'd rather not do that. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm using css3 transform on other browsers and using dximagetransform.matrix to achieve this effect in IE. EDIT: Added the opening html tag. Problem still exists. http://i45.tinypic.com/nf4gmq.png

  • How to access members of an rdf list with rdflib (or plain sparql)

    - by tjb
    What is the best way to access the members of an rdf list? I'm using rdflib (python) but an answer given in plain SPARQL is also ok (this type of answer can be used through rdfextras, a rdflib helper library). I'm trying to access the authors of a particular journal article in rdf produced by Zotero (some fields have been removed for brevity): <rdf:RDF xmlns:rdf="http://www.w3.org/1999/02/22-rdf-syntax-ns#" xmlns:z="http://www.zotero.org/namespaces/export#" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" xmlns:bib="http://purl.org/net/biblio#" xmlns:foaf="http://xmlns.com/foaf/0.1/" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:prism="http://prismstandard.org/namespaces/1.2/basic/" xmlns:link="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/link/"> <bib:Article rdf:about="http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18273724"> <z:itemType>journalArticle</z:itemType> <dcterms:isPartOf rdf:resource="urn:issn:0954-6634"/> <bib:authors> <rdf:Seq> <rdf:li> <foaf:Person> <foaf:surname>Lee</foaf:surname> <foaf:givenname>Hyoun Seung</foaf:givenname> </foaf:Person> </rdf:li> <rdf:li> <foaf:Person> <foaf:surname>Lee</foaf:surname> <foaf:givenname>Jong Hee</foaf:givenname> </foaf:Person> </rdf:li> <rdf:li> <foaf:Person> <foaf:surname>Ahn</foaf:surname> <foaf:givenname>Gun Young</foaf:givenname> </foaf:Person> </rdf:li> <rdf:li> <foaf:Person> <foaf:surname>Lee</foaf:surname> <foaf:givenname>Dong Hun</foaf:givenname> </foaf:Person> </rdf:li> <rdf:li> <foaf:Person> <foaf:surname>Shin</foaf:surname> <foaf:givenname>Jung Won</foaf:givenname> </foaf:Person> </rdf:li> <rdf:li> <foaf:Person> <foaf:surname>Kim</foaf:surname> <foaf:givenname>Dong Hyun</foaf:givenname> </foaf:Person> </rdf:li> <rdf:li> <foaf:Person> <foaf:surname>Chung</foaf:surname> <foaf:givenname>Jin Ho</foaf:givenname> </foaf:Person> </rdf:li> </rdf:Seq> </bib:authors> <dc:title>Fractional photothermolysis for the treatment of acne scars: a report of 27 Korean patients</dc:title> <dcterms:abstract>OBJECTIVES: Atrophic post-acne scarring remains a therapeutically challe *CUT*, erythema and edema. • Hr Tag in IE - remove border

It looks like this: How do I get rid of it?

  • Cross Browser Addons

    - by Paul Tarjan
I'm looking to make a browser add-on as widely and easily distributable as possible. Is there a set of wrapper addons for all the major browsers that will let me write one piece of code and it can execute in any of the environments? I don't need anything fancy, just DOM and some ajax stuff. Something along the lines of greasemonkey for IE, FF, and Chrome would be nice. In the same vein, is there a way to link to my script so that it prompts for an install of greasemonkey (if it isn't installed) and then leads the script?

  • jQuery/CSS height issues in IE/Chrome

    - by abysslogic
Hello again, I am back with more problems on my jQuery animated splash / website. You can see the splash which is working in most browsers at voidsync.com/test. The problems I am encountering with IE are the html, body, or #CONTAINER not adjusting to longer content such as in the Services or About pages - you will see the footer does not properly move to the bottom. Refreshing the browser after loading or completing the splash, the pages height adjusts properly to fit the content. Also this works in IE8 with JS disabled, so I know the problem is in there. (except in IE7 or IE8 compatibility mode, where the footer does not move down, period). I can post code here if needed, but im not sure if that is necessary or possible as you may need to see all of the source code to get the right idea. Bonus question The Hosting page has similar problems in Chrome, where the content height does not appear to resize properly on that one page, or the footer becomes overlapped which may be due to the styling used on table elements. Thanks in advance!

However in IE8 (with or without compatibility) the UL seems to indent from the left hand side, not each li just the whole li; despite declaring text-align:center; width:600px; margin:auto; padding-left:0;. Any ideas what could be causing this? Thanks, Jamie

  • Web Safe Area (optimal resolution) for web app design

    - by M.A.X
I'm in the process of designing a new web app and I'm wondering for what 'web safe area' should I optimize the app layout and design. I did some investigation and thinking on my own but wanted to share this to see what the general opinion is. Here is what I found: Optimal Display Resolution: w3schools web stats seems to be the most referenced source (however they state that these are results from their site and is biased towards tech savvy users) http://www.w3counter.com/globalstats.php (aggregate data from something like 15,000 different sites that use their tracking services) StatCounter Global Stats Display Resolution (Stats are based on aggregate data collected by StatCounter on a sample exceeding 15 billion pageviews per month collected from across the StatCounter network of more than 3 million websites) NetMarketShare Screen Resolutions (marketshare.hitslink.com) (a web analytics consulting firm, they get data from browsers of site visitors to their on-demand network of live stats customers. The data is compiled from approximately 160 million visitors per month) Display Resolution Summary: There is a bit of variation between the above sources but in general as of Jan 2011 looks like 1024x768 is about 20%, while ~85% have a higher resolution of at least 1280x768 (1280x800 is the most common of these with 15-20% of total web, depending on the source; 1280x1024 and 1366x768 follow behind with 9-14% of the share). My guess would be that the higher resolution values will be even more common if we filter on North America, and even higher if we filter on N.American corporate users (unfortunately I couldn't find any free geographically filtered statistics). Another point to note is that the 1024x768 desktop user population is likely lower than the aforementioned 20%, seeing as the iPad (1024x768 native display) is likely propping up those number. My recommendation would be to optimize around the 1280x768 constraint (*note: 1280x768 is actually a relatively rare resolution, but I think it's a valid constraint range considering that 1366x768 is relatively common and 1280 is the most common horizontal resolution). Browser + OS Constraints: To further add to the constraints we have to subtract the space taken up by the browser (assuming IE, which is the most space consuming) and the OS (assuming WinXP-Win7): Win7 has the biggest taskbar footprint at a height of 40px (XP's and Vista's is 30px) The default IE8 view uses up 25px at the bottom of the screen with the status bar and a further 120px at the top of the screen with the windows title bar and the browser UI (assuming the default 'favorites' toolbar is present, it would instead be 91px without the favorites toolbar). Assuming no scrollbar, we also loose a total of 4px horizontally for the window outline. This means that we are left with 583px of vertical space and 1276px of horizontal. In other words, a Web Safe Area of 1276 x 583 Is this a correct line of thinking? I tried to Google some design best practices but most still talk about designing around 1024x768 which seems to be quickly disappearing. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

  • IE9 Acid 3 test?

What did IE8 pass with? What about IE7? How does it compare to other modern browsers such as Safari, Firefox, and Chrome? Please submit useful answers, not opinions on how bad IE is, I don't like it either. Thanks a bunch!

This is my code: File.Create("data.csv"); // create the file request = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.CreateDefault(new Uri(url)); request.Timeout = 30000; response = (HttpWebResponse)request.GetResponse(); using (Stream file = File.OpenWrite("data.csv"), // <-- Exception here input = response.GetResponseStream()) { // Save the file using Jon Skeet's CopyStream method CopyStream(input, file); } I've seen numerous other questions with the same exception, but none of them seem to apply here. Any help?
