  • How to move domain from 1&1 to fasthosts with minimum downtime [duplicate]

    - by arcanine
This question already has an answer here: Changing web hosting companies 1 answer How can we move our domain name from 1&1's control over to our new host with as little affect (if any) on downtime for our domain name. We've tried moving name servers before and our site went dark despite us defining all the old records on to the new name server host, now this time we're going to move the entire domain to another company but we've been bit so many times by this that I'm trying to find out what the process should be, and whether it can be done in a way to prevent down time

  • Best SEO Services Provider

People who decided in time to become an SEO services provider are having the time of their life. They are having 6 digit incomes without having too much fuss about it. All they do is to post some text here and there on the internet and then they let that text do the job for them. You must be saying that it is some kind of a joke, but no my friend. It is not a joke.

  • Can't boot from Ubuntu 12.04 live USB

    - by 8vius
I'm trying to recover GRUB after installing Windows 7. I installed Ubuntu 12.04 first, then installed Windows 7 so I lost the GRUB at startup. Made a USB stick with Ubuntu to boot from, I get the menu tell it to start and it takes off but then gets stuck. The last line showing on the screen is: ata10: PATA max UDMA/100 cmd 0xc800 ctl 0xc480 irq 17 or this: [4.793048] scsi9 : pata_jmicron Then it just gets stuck there and the screen flashes from time to time.

  • Why isn't persistence working on Lubuntu 12.04 Live-USB?

    - by Frodik

But now with Lubuntu 12.04 even though I do the same process by selecting persistence file, it gets created but is never used in Lubuntu. Every time I boot into Lubuntu on flash, it is fresh new Lubuntu without my changes I did last time I have booted it. Anyone can help me or give me some hints ? Thanks in advance.

  • A quick look at: sys.dm_os_buffer_descriptors

    - by fatherjack
SQL Server places data into cache as it reads it from disk so as to speed up future queries. This dmv lets you see how much data is cached at any given time and knowing how this changes over time can help you ensure your servers run smoothly and are adequately resourced to run your systems. This dmv gives the number of cached pages in the buffer pool along with the database id that they relate to: USE [tempdb] GO SELECT COUNT(*) AS cached_pages_count , CASE database_id ...(read more)

  • Should I be running VM's(Virtual Box) for development on the same hdd as my os or a external usb (2.0) HDD or usb (2.0) flash drive

    - by J. Brown
I have a mac book pro (7200 rpm / 8GB ram) and I like the idea of virtualized development environments as I like to experiment with different technologies and don't like to have environmental cross contamination. I would like to know for the vm's I run (rarely 2 at time..almost always 1 vm at a time) should the virtual hdd be on my laptops native hdd or some external form (usb hdd, usb flash, or since i have mac express card based sad ?). I don't mind maxing out my ram to 16GB if thats a better option to have in the mix. Thank you

  • Is there a quick and practical (hands on) way to learn another programming language?

    - by Tamsin
Due to rather strange circumstances, I only have until Monday to learn (at least) the basics of PHP and .NET programming. I'm already fairly competent (though there is a lot of room for improvement) in C++ so I feel I have some of the concepts nailed already, but I need to get into the two languages in a bit more depth in a very short time frame. Unfortunately I won't have time to get any books so will need to exclusively use online resources, I'm more of a 'do-er' so any way to test my skills in a practical way would be a huge bonus :-)

  • What class to use in order to have a number move around the screen?

    - by AllenZ41
What i am trying to accomplish is have a randomly created number move around the screen but it is touchable. I am planning to have lots of numbers on the screen, so my question is what class is appropriate to use, so I could set a number randomly at run time and display it while it moves around the screen? I was planning the use a TextView, since I want to use a custom font of mine but I think creating a bunch at a time could cause a memory problem and to my understanding they cant move around the screen at runtime.

  • Do Outbound Links Hold Search Engine Power?

Now, I do not know if this applies to just when the link points to pages on your own site or any outbound links, but time and time again I see before me the evidence that this could just be the case. Last night I was comparing 2 of my own websites. The first, with Page Rank 3 and lots of SEO work against the second, Page Rank 0 and ignored.

  • Should you promise to deliver a feature that you aren't sure if its implementable?

    - by user476
In an article from HN, I came across the following advice: Always tell your customer/user "yes", even if you're not sure. 90% of the time, you'll find a way to do it. 10% of the time, you'll go back and apologize. Small price to pay for major personal growth But I've always thought that one should do a feasibility analysis before making any kind of promises to a customer/user, so that they aren't misled at any point. At what circumstances, then, should the above advice applicable?

  • STOP! Wrong Server!

    - by merrillaldrich
Some time ago I wrote a post about old-time T-SQL flow control . Part of the idea was to illustrate how to make scripts abort on errors, which is surprisingly convoluted in T-SQL. Today I have a more specific example: how can I check that we are really about to execute in the right database on the right server, and halt if not. Perhaps you’ve connected to the wrong server, or the database you intend to modify doesn’t have the name your script expected. “USE database” is wonderful, but what if it...(read more)

  • Keyword Density - How Much is Too Much For SEO?

A long time ago the easiest way to reach high rankings in many search engines at that time was to stuff pages with target keywords. Some tried to hide some part of the page by using background color also for text, while others simply put few paragraphs with apparently irrelevant keywords at the end of the page. Because word frequency was one of the most important factors to rank pages, it was pretty easy to reach top positions just by exaggerating with keywords.

  • Venture Capital SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
