  • GWT: stange import collision error in visualisation api

    - by parag_
    hi, I'm attempting to add two charts to a gwt page using the visualization api, but for some strange and inexplicable reason, eclipse claims that the following two imports are colliding - which makes no sense to me. In the methods where i am calling them, I have even tried using the fully qualified names, but that doesnt seem to help either. Any idea what may be going on ? import com.google.gwt.visualization.client.visualizations.Table.Options; import com.google.gwt.visualization.client.visualizations.LineChart.Options;

  • C# getting the results from an asynchronous call

    - by Jim Beam
    I have an API that I'm working with and it has limited documentation. I have been told that some of the methods that it executes are called asynchronously. How can I get the result of these asynchronous calls. Note that I am not doing anything special to call them, the API handles the asynchronous part. But I can't seem to get a "reply" back from these calls - I'm assuming that's because they are in another thread.

  • Creating a "permanent" Cocoa object

    - by quixoto
    I have an object factory that hands out instances of certain "constant" objects. I'd like these objects to be protected against bad memory management by clients. This is how I've overridden the class's key methods. Am I missing anything (code or other considerations)? - (id)retain { return self; } - (NSUInteger)retainCount { return UINT_MAX; } - (void)release { // nothing. }

I want to map an internal network share on our windows server to a folder on each of the client machines in the network. I dont want to have to use Drive Letters I would just like to set up a Folder on my C drive that is actually a windows share eg C:\DATA\Network Docs is actuallyp pointing to \\Server\SharedData\ Is this possible? Is there a third party solution that does it? All clients are Windows XP and Windows 7.

  • Detect certain characters in a text field

    - by Craig
    What is the easiest way to detect a character in a text field? I want to be able to detect a certain character and replace that character with another specific character. So If I write in a text field... "zyxw" I want it to be replaced with "abcd". I'm a newbie and don't really know where to start with this or how to go about it. If anyone has any methods of doing this, I would really appreciate it.

For example: curse_array.each_safe.magic.collect {|element| "#{element} is a nice sentence."} I know there is a way to do this, but I've forgotten. Please help! :-)

  • Is there any way to achieve multiple inheritance in php?

    - by Starx
    Lets say I have a parent class class parent { } ..... This parent has three sub class class child1 { } class child2 { } class child3 { } and these child classes have further smaller parts like class child1subpar1 { } class child1subpar2 { public function foo() { echo "hi"; } } class child2subpar1 { } class child2subpar2 { } Now, how to sum this whole up like class child1 extends child1subpar1, child1subpar2 { } class child2 extends child2subpar1, childsubpar1 { } class parent extends child1,child2,child3 { } I need to execute the methods in its inherited classes and do something like this $objparent = new parent; $objparent - foo();

  • How to change the request IP in HttpWebRequest?

    - by holiveira
    I'm developing a website that will connect to a credit card processing gateway webservice. For security purposes this webservice accepts requests only from IP addresses that were previously informed to them. Since I'm developing locally, my IP changes almost every day. Is there a way for me to change the IP address of a HttpWebRequest so that I can test the Webservice calls locally? This webservice is accessed through a https address and the methods must be sent via POST.

I choosed "Restore from Time Machine" in the options menu on the snow leopard install discs and waited several hours to complete. After an reboot the mac shows up a white screen with apple logo and tiny loading animation. Nothing happens. After another restart; the same. Now I cant boot from CD using the C-Key and I have no idea how to fix that problem.

  • In Ruby on Rails, routes.rb, if map.something will create something_path and something_url, does map

    - by Jian Lin
    In Ruby on Rails, routes.rb, if we create a "named route" map.something ":a/:b", :controller => 'foobar' it will also create something_path and something_url which are two methods usable in the controller and in the view. Does map.connect create something like that too? Otherwise, isn't map.connect somewhat disadvantaged in this way? I checked that connect_path and connect_url both aren't created automatically.

  • Python equivalent of C++ getline()

    - by Arnab Sen Gupta
    In C++ we can enter multiple lines by giving our own choice of delimiting character in the getline() function.. however I am not able to do the same in Python!! it has only raw_input() and sys.stdin.readline() methods that read till I press enter. Is there any way to customize this so that I can specify my own delimiter?

  • Where should I initialize variables for an OO Recursive Descent Parse Tree?

    - by Vasto
    I'd like to preface this by stating that this is for a class, so please don't solve this for me. One of my labs for my cse class is creating an interpreter for a BNF that was provided. I understand most of the concepts, but I'm trying to build up my tree and I'm unsure where to initialize values. I've tried in both the constructor, and in the methods but Eclipse's debugger still only shows the left branch, even though it runs through completely. Here is my main procedure so you can get an idea of how I'm calling the methods. public class Parser { public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException { FileTokenizer instance = FileTokenizer.Instance(); FileTokenizer.main(args); Prog prog = new Prog(); prog.ParseProg(); prog.PrintProg(); prog.ExecProg(); } Now here is My Prog class: public class Prog { private DeclSeq ds; private StmtSeq ss; Prog() { ds = new DeclSeq(); ss = new StmtSeq(); } public void ParseProg() { FileTokenizer instance = FileTokenizer.Instance(); instance.skipToken(); //Skips program (1) // ds = new DeclSeq(); ds.ParseDS(); instance.skipToken(); //Skips begin (2) // ss = new StmtSeq(); ss.ParseSS(); instance.skipToken(); } I've tried having Prog() { ds = null; ss = null; } public void ParseProg() { FileTokenizer instance = FileTokenizer.Instance(); instance.skipToken(); //Skips program (1) ds = new DeclSeq(); ds.ParseDS(); ... But it gave me the same error. I need the parse tree built up so I can do a pretty print and an execute command, but like I said, I only get the left branch. Any help would be appreciated. Explanations why are even more so appreciated. Thank you, Vasto

  • Array performance question

    - by Konrad
    I am very familiar with STL vector (and other container) performance guarantees, however I can't seem to find anything concrete about plain arrays. Are pointer arithmetic and [] methods constant or linear time?

  • Load a list of localized strings at once in IOS

    - by Victor Ronin
    I want to show a table with the list of strings which are localized. The straightforward method would be: a) Point data source to my ViewController b) Define an array c) Allocate the array in my ViewController and init (arrayWithObjects) it with the strings from localized resources (NSLocalizedString) d) Use this array in UITableViewDataSource delegated methods Mainly my concern is item b). The construction looks quite heavy and I wonder whether I can somehow specify and load whole list of localized string at once.

  • Best way to return result from business layer to presentation layer when using LINQ-to-SQL

    - by samsur
    I have a business layer that has DTOs that are used in the presentation layer. This application uses entity framework. Here is an example of a class called RoleDTO: public class RoleDTO { public Guid RoleId { get; set; } public string RoleName { get; set; } public string RoleDescription { get; set; } public int? OrganizationId { get; set; } } In the BLL I want to have a method that returns a list of DTO. I would like to know which is the better approach: returning IQueryable or list of DTOs. Although I feel that returning IQueryable is not a good idea because the connection needs to be open. Here are the 2 different methods using the different approaches: First approach public class RoleBLL { private servicedeskEntities sde; public RoleBLL() { sde = new servicedeskEntities(); } public IQueryable<RoleDTO> GetAllRoles() { IQueryable<RoleDTO> role = from r in sde.Roles select new RoleDTO() { RoleId = r.RoleID, RoleName = r.RoleName, RoleDescription = r.RoleDescription, OrganizationId = r.OrganizationId }; return role; } Note: in the above method the DataContext is a private attribute and set in the constructor, so that the connection stays opened. Second approach public static List<RoleDTO> GetAllRoles() { List<RoleDTO> roleDTO = new List<RoleDTO>(); using (servicedeskEntities sde = new servicedeskEntities()) { var roles = from pri in sde.Roles select new { pri.RoleID, pri.RoleName, pri.RoleDescription }; //Add the role entites to the DTO list and return. This is necessary as anonymous types can be returned acrosss methods foreach (var item in roles) { RoleDTO roleItem = new RoleDTO(); roleItem.RoleId = item.RoleID; roleItem.RoleDescription = item.RoleDescription; roleItem.RoleName = item.RoleName; roleDTO.Add(roleItem); } return roleDTO; } } Please let me know, if there is a better approach.

  • Android: Text primary key with different name

    - by Echilon
    I have an existing Windows app for which I'm writing an Android port. The app uses a unique string as the primary key, but the SQLite methods in Android all seem to work with integers and a column names _id, whereas my ID column isn't called this. Is there a way to let Android know I have a key with a different column name?

  • ruby search drop down

    - by cesia
    I have a drop down list of Type in my Products model. I want to be able to search in the Products index.html.erb so a user selects a type from a drop down list, clicks search and all the products matching that type are returned. I can get normal search methods working where the user enters in their search in a text box but I cannot get it working when they just select from a dropdown. Can anyone help?
