  • Why is Chrome miscalculating jQuery submenu dimensions?

    - by chunkymonkey
    I'm trying to implement this dropdown menu with flyouts: http://jsfiddle.net/chunkymonkey/fr6x4/ In Chrome certain categories can be expanded to show their subcategories while others show nothing when opened up. For example: Alternative Rock can be expanded to show its multiple subcategories . . . BUT . . . World Music, which has as many subcategories, shows no subcategories when expanded. (SCREENSHOT: http://i.imgur.com/0WorR.jpg) I thought I had tracked this problem down to a problem with they way the dimensions of the dropdown elements are calculated in the original code: First change: - var newLeftVal = - ($('.fg-menu-current').parents('ul').size() - 1) * 180; + var newLeftVal = - ($('.fg-menu-current').parents('ul').size() - 1) * container.width(); Second change: Remove: var checkMenuHeight = function(el) { if (el.height() > options.maxHeight) { el.addClass('fg-menu-scroll') }; el.css({ height: options.maxHeight }); }; Add: var checkMenuHeight = function(el) { var max_height = options.maxHeight - breadcrumb.getTotalHeight(); if (el.height() > max_height) { el.addClass('fg-menu-scroll'); el.height(max_height); topList.height(max_height); } else { if (topList.height() < el.height()) { topList.height(el.height()); } } }; But it's still not working only on Chrome (version 8, Windows & Mac) (not sure why Chrome is different).

  • Image manipulation with JQuery and PHP

    - by robertdd
    I want to do some kind of image editor, after I upload more images I want to make a list with all the thumbnails! After, I want to be able to click on one thumb and rotate, duplicate, drag and drop (to change positions of the images), and delete the image. I want all the images to be in a php array. If an image is deleted I want to delete the row from array too. If a image is drag-and-dropped I want to change the position in the array too. Ok, after the user uploads all the images and modifies some of them, how can I make a DONE button to save the positions of the images? For this small project how do you suggest I save the images? (to make a table in mysql and store the names of the images in the database depending on the session id? depending on the IP?) Any suggestions are welcome!

  • Jquery animate bottom problem

    - by andrea
    It's strange. I have an animation that start when i .hover on a DIV. Into this div i have another in position absolute that i want to move up until the mouse stay on main div and go down in your position when i go out of main div. A simple hover effect. I have write down this function that work well apart a strange bug. var inside = $('.inside') inside.hover(function() { $(this).children(".coll_base").stop().animate({ bottom:'+=30px' },"slow") }, function() { $(this).children(".coll_base").stop().animate({ bottom:'-=30px' },"slow"); }); i need +=30 and -=30 because i have to apply this function to a range of div with different bottom. The problem is that if i hover on and out of div the DIV animate right but when go down he decrease the value of bottom every animation. If i go up and down from the main div i see that the animated div go down even beyond the main div. I think that i miss something to resolve this bug. Thanks for any help

  • Browser relative positioning with jQuery and CutyCapt

    - by Acoustic
    I've been using CutyCapt to take screen shots of several web pages with great success. My challenge now is to paint a few dots on those screen shots that represent where a user clicked. CutyCapt goes through a process of resizing the web page to the scroll width before taking a screen shot. That's extremely useful because you only get content and not much (if any) of the page's background. My challenge is trying to map a user's mouse X coordinates to the screen shot. Obviously users have different screen resolutions and have their browser window open to different sizes. The image below shows 3 examples with the same logo. Assume, for example, that the logo is 10 pixels to the left edge of the content area (in red). In each of these cases, and for any resolution, I need a JavaScript routine that will calculate that the logo's X coordinate is 10. Again, the challenge (I think) is differing resolutions. In the center-aligned examples, the logo's position, as measured from the left edge of the browser (in black), differs with changing browser size. The left-aligned example should be simple as the logo never moves as the screen resizes. Can anyone think of a way to calculate the scrollable width of a page? In other words, I'm looking for a JavaScript solution to calculate the minimum width of the browser window before a horizontal scroll bar shows up. Thanks for your help!

  • What's wrong with this jQuery fading gallery code?

    - by Meep3D
    So I am creating a fading gallery and am a bit of a noob to javascript (but not to programming). I have no idea what is wrong though. Here's the function in question: /* */ function show_next () { // Hide current $('.s_gallery_images li.s_current').fadeTo(200, .2); $('.s_gallery_images li.s_current').css("border","1px green solid"); // if ($('.s_gallery_images li').hasClass ('.s_current')) { console.log ('Incrementing existing'); // Class already exists $('.s_current:first').removeClass('s_current').next().addClass('s_current'); // Was that the last one? if ($('.s_gallery_images li').hasClass ('.s_current')) { console.log ('Current found'); } else { // Class doesn't exist - add to first $('.s_gallery_images li:first').addClass ('.s_current'); console.log ('Wrapping'); } } else { console.log ('Adding new class'); // Class doesn't exist - add to first $('.s_gallery_images li:first').addClass ('.s_current'); } // Show new marked item $('.s_gallery_images li.s_current').fadeTo(200, .8); } The HTML is a very simple: <ul class="s_gallery_images"> <li><img src="imagename" alt="alt" /></li> <li><img src="imagename" alt="alt" /></li> <li><img src="imagename" alt="alt" /></li> </ul> And it displays the list and the images fine. I am using firebugs console.log for debugging, plus have a class set for s_current (bright border) but nothing happens at all. The firebug console log says: Adding New Class Incrementing Existing Current Found Incrementing Existing Current Found Incrementing Existing Current Found Incrementing Existing Current Found ... to infinity The function is called on a setInterval timer, and as far as I can tell it should be working (and I have done something similar before), but it just isn't happening :(

  • jQuery and function scope

    - by Jason
    Is this: ($.fn.myFunc = function() { var Dennis = function() { /*code */ } $('#Element').click(Dennis); })(); equivalent to: ($.fn.myFunc = function() { $('#Element').click(function() { /*code */ }); })(); If not, can someone please explain the difference, and suggest the better route to take for both performance, function reuse and clarity of reading. Thanks!

  • Parent CSS (jQuery)

    - by Glister
    There is <dl> with padding-top <dl style="padding-top: 150px;"> <dt>text</dt> <dd><img width="150" height="150" src="..." /></dd> <dt>text 2</dt> <dd><img width="150" height="250" src="..." /></dd> <dt>text 3</dt> <dd><img width="150" height="350" src="..." /></dd> </dl> The difference between images - height. Trying to write a script, which will change a height of the <dl>, when <dd> is clicked. Height should be taken from the height attribute of the dd img. Tryed this, but it doesn't work: $("#posters dd").click(function(){ var parent_padding = $(this).find("img").attr("height"); $(this).parent().css({"padding-top":parent_padding}); }); Thanks.

  • jQuery Cycle plugin: One pager to control multiple slideshow on a page

    - by Michael
    Hi there, I have a cycle plugin set up on a page (images) with a pager to control the horizontal slide. My issue is that there is a transparent overlay that needs to sit over part of the images for some text relating to each image but would rather have that with a different transition effect for this so it doesn't slide in from the left. Am I able to set up to slideshows, each with 3 pieces of related content, that I can position correctly and have them controlled with the one pager? My script currently looks like this: $(function() { $('.s4').before('<div id="nav" class="nav">').cycle({ fx: 'fade', speed: 'slow', speedIn: 'slow', // speed of the 'in' transition speedOut: 'slow', timeout: 6000, pager: '#nav' }); }); I hope this makes sense, Thanks

  • How to start/stop CrossSlide (jQuery)

    - by Alex
    I found that CrossSlide causes video playback on the same page to stutter quite badly. My thought was to have the cross slide effect on the same page stop or pause during video play back, annd then start again when video stops. Id doesn't look like there is any start stop function included. Does any one know how I might be able to accomplish this? Thanks.

  • Fade between looped background images using jQuery

    - by da5id
    I'm trying to get the background image of a legacy div (by which I mean it already has a background image, which I cannot control & thus have to initially over-write) to smoothly fade between new images indefinitely. Here's what I have so far: var images = [ "/images/home/19041085158.jpg", "/images/home/19041085513.jpg", "/images/home/19041085612.jpg" ]; var counter = 0; setInterval(function() { $(".home_banner").css('backgroundImage', 'url("'+images[counter]+'")'); counter++; if (counter == images.length) { counter = 0; } }, 2000); Trouble is, it's not smooth (I'm aiming for something like the innerfade plugin). EDIT: question originally said "and it's not indefinite (it only runs once through the array).", but Mario corrected my stupid naming error. EDIT2: I'm now using Reigel's answer (see below), which works perfectly, but I still can't find any way to fade between the images smoothly. All help greatfully appreciated :)

  • jQuery and iterating on JSON objects.

    - by The Devil
    Hey everybody, I'm currently trying to figure out how can I iterate over all of the objects in an JSON response. My object may have endless sub objects and they may also have endless sub objects. { "obj1" : { "obj1.1" : "test", "obj1.2" : { "obj1.1.1" : true, "obj1.1.2" : "test2", "obj1.1.3" : { ... // etc } } } } I was just wondering if there is a out of the box script that can handle such kind of objects? Thanks in advance, The Devil

  • What is dot and hash symbols mean in JQuery

    - by kwokwai
    Hi all, I feel confused of the dot and hash symbols in the following example: <DIV ID="row"> <DIV ID="c1"> <Input type="radio" name="testing" id="testing" VALUE="1">testing1 </DIV> </DIV> Code 1: $('#row DIV').mouseover(function(){ $('#row DIV).addClass('testing'); }); Code 2 $('.row div').mouseover(function(){ $(this).addClass('testing'); });? Codes 1 and 2 look very similar, and so it makes me so confused that when I should use ".row div" to refer to a specific DIV instead of using "#row div" ?

  • jQuery Cycle : Multiple Instances, detect end of each instance

    - by guylabbe.ca
    I am using multiple instances of Cycle for a portfolio; Only one is shown and the others are hidden. Each Cycle is a project with multiple images. The only thing I can't figure out is how to detect the end of the « current » Cycle instance. with after: function, it is triggered for all instances at once, impossible to get « local » events. Here is my code : $('.sldr_closeup').each(function() { var currId = $(this).attr('id'); window['num_'+currId] = 0; $(this).cycle({ timeout:0, speed:500, fx:'fade', next:'.nextimages', prev:'.previmages', fit:1, nowrap:1, autstop:0, after : function(c,n,o,f) { var currId = $(this).parent('div').attr('id'); (f) ? window['num_'+currId] ++ : window['num_'+currId] --; if ((o.slideCount == window['num_'+currId] )) { alert(currId); $('.nextimages').stop().fadeTo(400,0,function(){ if(currId != $('.projectList .projet').last().find('a').attr('rel')) $('.nextproject').stop().fadeTo(400,1); $(this).hide(); }); } } }).cycle('pause'); });
