• (Android) Seems like my JSON query is getting double encode

  Hi, I am getting some weird errors with my Android App. It appears that this code is double encoding the JSON string. What should be sent is ?{"email":"[email protected]","password":"asdf"} or ?%7B%22email%22:%22..... what the server is seeing is %257B%2522email%2522:%2522 .... which means the server sees %7B%22email%22:%22 ..... This confuses the server. Any ideas why this is happening?   Hi, I have written couple of custom rules in for fxcop 1.36. I have written a code to find weather opened datareader is closed or not. But it does not check which datareader object is calling the close() method so I can't be sure if all opened datareader objs are closed!! 2nd: if I am using data reader in IF else like if 1=2 dr = cmd.executeReader(); else dr = cmd2.execureReader(); end if in this case it will search for 2 datareader objects to be closed.. • Is this a hole in dynamic binding in C# 4?

  I've seen a very interesting post on Fabio Maulo's blog. Here's the code and the bug if you don't want to jump to the url. I defined a new generic class like so: public class TableStorageInitializer<TTableEntity> where TTableEntity : class, new() { public void Initialize() { InitializeInstance(new TTableEntity()); } public void InitializeInstance(dynamic entity) { entity.PartitionKey = Guid.NewGuid().ToString(); entity.RowKey = Guid.NewGuid().ToString(); } } Note that InitializeInstance accepts one parameter, which is of type dynamic. Now to test this class, I defined another class that is nested inside my main Program class like so: class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { TableStorageInitializer<MyClass> x = new TableStorageInitializer<MyClass>(); x.Initialize(); } private class MyClass { public string PartitionKey { get; set; } public string RowKey { get; set; } public DateTime Timestamp { get; set; } } } Note: the inner class "MyClass" is declared private. Now if i run this code I get a "Microsoft.CSharp.RuntimeBinder.RuntimeBinderException" on the line "entity.PartitionKey = Guide.NewGuid().ToString()". The interesting part, though is that the message of the exception says "Object doesn't contain a definition for PartitionKey". Also note that if you changed the modifier of the nested class to public, the code will execute with no problems. So what do you guys think is really happening under the hood? Please refer to any documentation -of course if this is documented anywhere- that you may find?

• Parsing custom time format with SimpleDateFormat

  I'm having trouble parsing a date format that I'm getting back from an API and that I have never seen (I believe is a custom format). An example of a date: /Date(1353447000000+0000)/ When I first encountered this format it didn't take me long to see that it was the time in milliseconds with a time zone offset. I'm having trouble extracting this date using SimpleDateFormat though. Here was my first attempt: String weirdDate = "/Date(1353447000000+0000)/"; SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat("'/Date('SSSSSSSSSSSSSZ')/'"); Date d1 = sdf.parse(weirdDate); System.out.println(d1.toString()); System.out.println(d1.getTime()); System.out.println(); Date d2 = new Date(Long.parseLong("1353447000000")); System.out.println(d2.toString()); System.out.println(d2.getTime()); And output: Tue Jan 06 22:51:41 EST 1970 532301760 Tue Nov 20 16:30:00 EST 2012 1353447000000 The date (and number of milliseconds parsed) is not even close and I haven't been able to figure out why. After some troubleshooting, I discovered that the way I'm trying to use SDF is clearly flawed. Example: String weirdDate = "1353447000000"; SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat("S"); Date d1 = sdf.parse(weirdDate); System.out.println(d1.toString()); System.out.println(d1.getTime()); And output: Wed Jan 07 03:51:41 EST 1970 550301760 I can't say I've ever tried to use SDF in this way to just parse a time in milliseconds because I would normally use Long.parseLong() and just pass it straight into new Date(long) (and in fact the solution I have in place right now is just a regular expression and parsing a long). I'm looking for a cleaner solution that I can easily extract this time in milliseconds with the timezone and quickly parse out into a date without the messy manual handling. Anyone have any ideas or that can spot the errors in my logic above? Help is much appreciated.

• HTTP Handler error when downloading files - SSL

  Ok big problem as this is affecting two projects on our new server. We have a file that is downloaded by users, the files are downloaded using a HTTPHandler. Since moving the site to the server and setting SSL the downloads have stopped working and we get an error message "Unable to download DownloadDocument.ashx" from site". DownloadDocument.ashx is the handler page that is set in the web.config and the button that goes there is a hyperlink with the id of the document as a querystring. Ive read the article on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316431 and read a few other requests on this site but nothing seems to be working. • ArrayCollection loop through for matching items

  Hi I hope someone can help me..... i am trying to build a dynamic form for a questionnaire module. Building on some previous posts I am using the process similar to that in question "http://stackoverflow.com/questions/629021/how-to-generate-a-formmxform-dynamically-in-flex" i have managed to prove out the fact of extending the XML to include a calendar, combobox etc. my problem is that now need to get the data from an ArrayCollection rather than from an xml file. So I had to create all the columns and their DataTemplate dynamically .When user wants to edit the column , a combo box will be displayed which has different values based on selected column. • Mercurial CLI is slow in C#?

  I'm writing a utility in C# that will make managing multiple Mercurial repositories easier for the way my team is using it. However, it seems that there is always about a 300 to 400 millisecond delay before I get anything back from hg.exe. I'm using the code below to run hg.exe and hgtk.exe (TortoiseHg's GUI). The code currently includes a Stopwatch and some variables for timing purposes. The delay is roughly the same on multiple runs within the same session.   Hi there, I have a simple questions that puzzles me. I need a little bit of refreashment with VB as I have been away for a while. I have a form that adds new contacts. New contacts are added by pressing an appropriate button and they appear as an entry in the list on the form. I try now to add an edit button that will edit existing entries. User will select a given entry on the list and press edit button and will be presented with an appropriate form (AddContFrm). Right now it simply adds another entry with the same title. Logic is handled in a class called Contact.vb Here is my code. • A C# Refactoring Question...

  I came accross the following code today and I didn't like it. It's fairly obvious what it's doing but I'll add a little explanation here anyway: Basically it reads all the settings for an app from the DB and the iterates through all of them looking for the DB Version and the APP Version then sets some variables to the values in the DB (to be used later). I looked at it and thought it was a bit ugly - I don't like switch statements and I hate things that carry on iterating through a list once they're finished. So I decided to refactor it. My question to all of you is how would you refactor it? Or do you think it even needs refactoring at all? If that callback method once again calls BeginReceive in my mind it would be very similar to recursion. How is that this does not cause a stackoverflow exception. • Why is this Java Calendar comparison bad?

  Hello folks. I'm having an inexplicable problem with the Java Calendar class when I'm trying to compare to dates. I'm trying to compare to Calendars and determine if their difference is than 1 day, and do things bases on that difference or not. But it doesn't work. If I do this with the two dates: String currDate = aCurrentUTCCalendar.getTime().toString(); String localDate = aLocalCalendar.getTime().toString(); I get these results: currDate = "Thu Jan 06 05:58:00 MST 2010" localDate = "Tue Jan 05 00:02:00 MST 2010" This is correct. But if I do this: long curr = aCurrentUTCCalendar.getTime().getTime(); long local = aLocalCalendar.getTime().getTime(); I get these results: ( in milliseconds since the epoch ) curr = -125566110120000 local = 1262674920000 Since there is only about a 30 hour different between the two, the magnitudes are vastly different, not to mention that annoying negative sign. This causes problems if I do this: long day = 60 * 60 * 24 * 1000; // 86400000 millis, one day if( local - curr > day ) { // do something } What's wrong? Why are the getTime().toString() calls correct, but the getTime().getTime() calls are vastly different? I'm using jdk 1.6_06 on WinXP. I can't upgrade the JDK for various reasons.

• Delphi: Transporting Objects to remote computers

  Hallo. I am writing a tier2 ordering software for network usage. So we have client and server. On the client I create Objects of TBest in which the Product ID, the amount and the user who orders it are saved. (So this is a item of an Order). An order can have multiple items and those are saved in an array to later send the created order to the server. The class that holds the array is called TBestellung. So i created both TBest.toString: string; and TBest.fromString(source: string): TBest; Now, I send the toString result to the server via socket and on the server I create the object using fromString (its parsing the attributes received). This works as intended. Question: Is there a better and more elegant way to do that? Serialisation is a keyword, yes, but isn't that awful / difficult when you serialize an object (TBestellung in this case) that contains an Array of other Objects (TBest in this case)? //Small amendment: Before it gets asked. Yes I should create an extra (static) class for toString and fromString because otherwise the server needs to create an "empty" TBest in order to be able to use fromString.

I considered using is isWriterLockHeld but it does not makes much sense to me, Since if two threads come in at the same time and enter the if statement at the same time one will still be waiting at the lock here is my code.
