  • jquery Ajax $.ajaxError

    - by cf_PhillipSenn
    I have a bunch of ajax calls that contain success and error conditions like this one: $.ajax({ url: 'Remote/State.cfc' ,type: "POST" ,data: { 'method': 'UpdateStateName' ,'StateID': StateID ,'StateName': StateName } ,success: function(result){ if (isNaN(result)) { $('#msg').text(result).addClass('err'); } else { $('#' + result + ' input[name="StateName"]').addClass('changed'); }; } ,error: function(msg){ $('#msg').text('Connection error').addClass('err'); } }); All the error conditions are the same. In other words, they all put the phrase "Connection error" in the msg id. Q1: Could I remove all these and replace them with $().ajaxError(function(myEvent, request, settings, thrownError) { $('#msg').text('Connection error').addClass('err'); }); Q2: How would you use myEvent and request to display a more informative error message?

  • jquery, manipulate content inserted by ajax, without using the callback

    - by Cody
    I am using ajax to insert a series of informational blocks via a loop. The blocks each have a title, and long description in them that is hidden by default. They function like an accordion, only showing one description at a time amongst all of the blocks. The problem is opening the description on the first block. I would REALLY like to do it with javascript right after the loop that is creating them is done. Is it possible to manipulate elements created ofter an ajax call without using the callback? <!-- example code--> <style> .placeholder, .long_description{ display:none;} </style> </head><body> <script> /* yes, this script is in the body, dont know if it matters */ $(document).ready(function() { $(".placeholder").each(function(){ // Use the divs to get the blocks var blockname = $(this).html(); // the contents if the div is the ID for the ajax POST $.post("/service_app/dyn_block",'form='+blockname, function(data){ var divname = '#div_' + blockname; $(divname).after(data); $(this).setupAccrdFnctly(); //not the actual code }); }); /* THIS LINE IS THE PROBLEM LINE, is it possible to reference the code ajax inserted */ /* Display the long description in the first dyn_block */ $(".dyn_block").first().find(".long_description").addClass('active').slideDown('fast'); }); </script> <!-- These lines are generated by PHP --> <!-- It is POSSIBLE to display the dyn_blocks --> <!-- here but I would really rather not --> <div id="div_servicetype" class="placeholder">servicetype</div> <div id="div_custtype" class="placeholder">custtype</div> <div id="div_custinfo" class="placeholder">custinfo</div> <div id="div_businfo" class="placeholder">businfo</div> </body>

  • jQuery jPicker path issues when used in WordPress Theme Options

    - by Scott B
    Anyone with experience using jPicker colorpicker in a WordPress Custom Theme options panel. I believe that the default path for the jPicker resources is /jPicker/ relative to the location the js file appears, however, I'm not seeing the picker.gif icon, so I tried changing the path in the js file like so... images:{clientPath:"../wp-content/themes/myTheme/images/" Everything else appears to be working at first load. My bound input field's background color is the same as the currently selected color. However, the picker.gif icon is missing. Where it should appear, I've just got a 2px wide by 20px tall color element (looks like a div perhaps).

  • jQuery accordion link issue

    - by Josh
    Slight problem, I've been working with a multi-accordion for a News panel. Everything is working fine, but there is an issue that has just recently come up. Underneath the headline I have information on when said headline+article was posted and when, and also if there are any comments. I intended to make the author and the number of comments as a link. The author link would most likely bring them to their contact page or maybe an email, the number of comments link would just expand it directly to the "View comments" which the user could also access by just expanding the article and then expanding the comments. A shortcut basically. Now, the issue is that I'm having to put this "Posted by..." information inside the a class which allows the user to expand the headline into the article. If I do this however, it breaks the entire accordion field for that headline because there are multiple A HREF links inside the original A link. I really don't know how to get around this, if anyone has a tip or a solution I would most appreciate it, thanks. You can view the demo here: http://www.notedls.com/demo

  • Removing google mail markers with jquery after getting them from xml

    - by sebastian
    Hi there, I'm trying to create a page that contains a google map. The map is filled with markers from an xml file. I just can't figure out how to remove "old" markers, that don't match the latest user input. At the moment my js stops after the very first xml item. The clearList.push(marker); is supposed to put the generated marker away for later usage. When the user hits the search button I want all markers to be gone and use clearMarkers();. Maybe someone here can help Sebastian Here is my JavaScript: $(document).ready(function() { $("#map").css({height: 650}); var clearList = []; var myLatLng = new google.maps.LatLng(52.518143, 13.372879); MYMAP.init('#map', myLatLng, 11); $("#showmarkers").click(function(e){ clearMarkers(); MYMAP.placeMarkers('markers.xml'); }); }); function clearMarkers() { $(clearList).each(function () { this.setmap(null); }); clearList = []; } var MYMAP = { map: null, bounds: null } MYMAP.init = function(selector, latLng, zoom) { var myOptions = { zoom:zoom, center: latLng, mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.HYBRID } this.map = new google.maps.Map($(selector)[0], myOptions); this.bounds = new google.maps.LatLngBounds(); } MYMAP.placeMarkers = function(filename) { $.get(filename, function(xml){ $(xml).find("marker").each(function(){ // read values from xml for searching var platzart = $(this).find('platzart').text(); var ort = $(this).find('ort').text(); var open = $(this).find('open').text(); if (platzart =="Kunstrasen" && $('#kunstrasen').attr('checked') || platzart =="Rasen" && $('#rasen').attr('checked') || platzart =="Tartan" && $('#tartan').attr('checked') || platzart =="Boltzplatz" && $('#boltzplatz').attr('checked') ){ // read values from xml for additional info var name = $(this).find('name').text(); var plz = $(this).find('plz').text(); var note = $(this).find('note').text(); var adress = $(this).find('adress').text(); // create a new LatLng point for the marker var lat = $(this).find('lat').text(); var lng = $(this).find('lng').text(); var point = new google.maps.LatLng(parseFloat(lat),parseFloat(lng)); // extend the bounds to include the new point MYMAP.bounds.extend(point); // create new marker var marker = new google.maps.Marker({ position: point, map: MYMAP.map }); clearList.push(marker); // add onclick overlay var infoWindow = new google.maps.InfoWindow(); var html='<strong>'+name+'</strong.><br />'+platzart; google.maps.event.addListener(marker, 'click', function() { infoWindow.setContent(html); infoWindow.open(MYMAP.map, marker); }); } MYMAP.map.fitBounds(MYMAP.bounds); }); }); } Thanks in advance

  • Why is Chrome miscalculating jQuery submenu dimensions?

    - by chunkymonkey
    I'm trying to implement this dropdown menu with flyouts: http://jsfiddle.net/chunkymonkey/fr6x4/ In Chrome certain categories can be expanded to show their subcategories while others show nothing when opened up. For example: Alternative Rock can be expanded to show its multiple subcategories . . . BUT . . . World Music, which has as many subcategories, shows no subcategories when expanded. (SCREENSHOT: http://i.imgur.com/0WorR.jpg) I thought I had tracked this problem down to a problem with they way the dimensions of the dropdown elements are calculated in the original code: First change: - var newLeftVal = - ($('.fg-menu-current').parents('ul').size() - 1) * 180; + var newLeftVal = - ($('.fg-menu-current').parents('ul').size() - 1) * container.width(); Second change: Remove: var checkMenuHeight = function(el) { if (el.height() > options.maxHeight) { el.addClass('fg-menu-scroll') }; el.css({ height: options.maxHeight }); }; Add: var checkMenuHeight = function(el) { var max_height = options.maxHeight - breadcrumb.getTotalHeight(); if (el.height() > max_height) { el.addClass('fg-menu-scroll'); el.height(max_height); topList.height(max_height); } else { if (topList.height() < el.height()) { topList.height(el.height()); } } }; But it's still not working only on Chrome (version 8, Windows & Mac) (not sure why Chrome is different).

  • Updating label using jquery and code behind

    - by Zaps
    Hi, I have a label on a page and I'm updating the text property of the label when text is changed in a textbox. I'm updating the label like so: $myLabel.text("hello"); The text is being displayed correctly on the screen butwhen I try to save the text value to an object in the code behind (When I press a button) the text property of the label is "" and not "hello". var myLabel = myLabel.Text; //the var myLabel is "" when it should be "hello" Any ideas as to why this would be? Thanks in advance, Zaps

  • question about jQuery droppable/draggable.

    - by FALCONSEYE
    I modified a sample photo manager application. photo manager application Instead of photos, I have employee records coming from a query. My version will let managers mark employees as on vacation, or at work. One of the things I did is to include employee ids like <a href="123">. I get the ids from event.target. This works for the click function but not for the "droppable" function. This is what I have for the click function: $('ul.gallery > li').click(function(ev) { var $item = $(this); var $unid = ev.target; var $target = $(ev.target); if ($target.is('a.ui-icon-suitcase')) { deleteImage($item,$unid); } else if ($target.is('a.ui-icon-arrowreturnthick-1-w')) { recycleImage($item,$unid); } return false; }); ev.target correctly gives the employee id. when i try the same in one of the droppable functions: $gallery.droppable({ accept: '#suitcase li', activeClass: 'custom-state-active', drop: function(ev, ui) { var $unid = ev.target; alert($unid); recycleImage(ui.draggable,$unid); } }); the alert(ui) gives me [object]. What's in this object? How do i get the href out of this? thanks

  • How should I port this Prototype to JQuery?

    - by blu
    There is currently this Prototype code that does a PUT: new Ajax.Request(someUrl, { method: 'put', parameters: { 'foo': bar }, onSuccess: function(response) { } .bind(this) }); I found this post but the solution uses an extra parameter supported by RoR, however I am targeting an ASP.NET backend. I searched a bit and found that not all browsers support PUT operations so apparently this could fail in certain browsers? This is already in prod, so a direct port would be fine for now I suppose. As an aside, what is the deal with the bind(this) in the onSuccess function?

  • How do you use jQuery filter() on an attribute that is not a class or id

    - by Ankur
    I want to filter based on an attribute called "level". Where I have written -- something here -- I don't know what to do to reference the level attribute. If it was an id attribute I would do #idName if it was a class I would do .className. I am not sure what to do to select the level attribute. $(".myClass").filter(--something here to reference the level attribute --).remove();

  • Ajax: Add new <div> from JSON with jQuery

    - by Francesc
    Hi, In a page I have this HTML code: <div id="content"> <div class="container"> <div id="author">@Francesc</div> <div id="message"Hey World!</div <div id="time"13/06/2010 11:53 GMT</div </div> <div class="container"> <div id="author">@SomeOtherUser</div> <div id="message"Bye World!</div <div id="time"13/06/2010 14:53 GMT</div </div> <div class="container"> <div id="author">@Me</div> <div id="message"Hey World!</div <div id="time"13/06/2010 18:53 GMT</div </div> </div> I want to ask, how to get a JSON file, from the server that has more recent messages and put them to the top, I mean above the first <div class="container">. Another question, it's possible to pass with GET when submiting the request to the server, the time of last update? How can I do it? Thanks.

  • jQuery/javascript events - prototype event handler

    - by Brian M. Hunt
    The following code doesn't work as I intuitively expect it to: function MyObject(input) { input.change(this._foo); this.X = undefined; } MyObject.prototype._foo = function() { alert("This code is never called"); // but if it did this.X = true; } var test_input = $("input#xyz"); // a random, existing input var m = MyObject(test_input); // attach handler (or try to) test_input.change(); // trigger event alert(m.X); // undefined I'd expect that _foo() would be called (and, if that ever happens, that the this variable in _foo() would be an instantiation of MyObject. Does anyone know why this doesn't work, and of any alternative pattern for passing an object to an event handler? Thank you for reading. Brian

  • jquery remove selected element and append to another

    - by KnockKnockWhosThere
    I'm trying to re-append a "removed option" to the appropriate select option menu. I have three select boxes: "Categories", "Variables", and "Target". "Categories" is a chained select, so when the user selects an option from it, the "Variables" select box is populated with options specific to the selected categories option. When the user chooses an option from the "Variables" select box, it's appended to the "Target" select box. I have a "remove selected" feature so that if a user "removes" a selected element from the "Target" select box, it's removed from "Target" and put back into the pool of "Variables" options. The problem I'm having is that it appends the option to the "Variables" items indiscriminately. That is, if the selected category is "Age" the "Variables" options all have a class of "age". But, if the removed option is an "income" item, it will display in the "Age Variables" option list. Here's the HTML markup: <select multiple="" id="categories" name="categories[]"> <option class="category" value="income">income</option> <option class="category" value="gender">gender</option> <option class="category" value="age">age</option> </select> <select multiple="multiple" id="variables" name="variables[]"> <option class="income" value="10">$90,000 - $99,999</option> <option class="income" value="11">$100,000 - $124,999</option> <option class="income" value="12">$125,000 - $149,999</option> <option class="income" value="13">Greater than $149,999</option> <option class="gender" value="14">Male</option> <option class="gender" value="15">Female</option> <option class="gender" value="16">Ungendered</option> <option class="age" value="17">Ages 18-24</option> <option class="age" value="18">Ages 25-34</option> <option class="age" value="19">Ages 35-44</option> </select> <select height="60" multiple="multiple" id="target" name="target[]"> </select> And, here's the js: /* This determines what options are display in the "Variables" select box */ var cat = $('#categories'); var el = $('#variables'); $('#categories option').click(function() { var class = $(this).val(); $('#variables option').each(function() { if($(this).hasClass(class)) { $(this).show(); } else { $(this).hide(); } }); }); /* This adds the option to the target select box if the user clicks "add" */ $('#add').click(function() { return !$('#variables option:selected').appendTo('#target'); }); /* This is the remove function in its current form, but doesn't append correctly */ $('#remove').click(function() { $('#target option:selected').each(function() { var class = $(this).attr('class'); if($('#variables option').hasClass(class)) { $(this).appendTo('#variables'); sortList('variables'); } }); });

  • I need to unset the state of the jQuery .toggle(odd,even)

    - by Forkrul Assail
    Hi I have items in a table cell that gets toggled on and off. An external button accepts a click and submits the selected cell values via ajax. The problem is that I want to reset the toggle state for the selected cells. I can easily unset the highlighting, but then need a double click to trigger the correct toggle. Can the .toggle(odd, even) be reset or cycled via an external call? Thanks

  • Clever Next and Previous Buttons in jQuery

    - by matt
    I have created a webpage which when you press 'down' automatically scrolls down to the next ID (a section which isn't visible due to overflow: hidden) When you press 'up' it scrolls back up. At the moment each arrow simply tells the webpage to go to a specific div e.g. the 'down arrow' says <a class="tab" href="#page2">Down</a> This is ok for just two pages however as I will be having more pages what I would like is to be able to specify the amount of pages and for the arrows to automatically change which link it needs to go to next. For example, on page 1 the 'up arrow' is not visible and when you press the 'down arrow' it scrolls to #page2 whereupon the 'up arrow' is then visible. If you now press the down arrow again it will take you to #page3 whereupon it then becomes hidden as page 3 is the last page. I'm guessing I need to create a 'var' which specifies the amount of pages and that to make the arrows invisible it will change the css property 'display' to none yet I don't know how to do this nor to make the links work out which number to go to next! edit: Just botched together some code which hides the arrows based on the page number however still need to work out how to update the variables and change the links the arrows go to. (please exclude the coding, it's my first time trying to write script as opposed to just editing plugins!) var PageNumber = 1; var PageAmount = 2; function getPageNumber() { } function hideUpArrow() { if(PageNumber==1) { $("#up_arrow").css({ "display": "none" }); } } function hideDownArrow() { if(PageNumber==PageAmount) { $("#down_arrow").css({ "display": "none" }); } } $(document).ready(function(){ hideUpArrow(); });

  • Jquery Ajax loading Problem

    - by Starx
    I have a function to load a html part into a element in main index page kinda like this $(".ajax").click(function() { //load a page into a element }); This works But the HTML part which i have just loaded also have links that need to trigger same function above, but it does not. Until I save that function in a separate .js file and load in the main index file as well as all other files from where I need to trigger that function even though these internal files are going to loaded into the the first main file . Is there any way for a function in the index file to run from the html document that is loaded inside a element.
