Hello,
So far all the Excel stuff revolves around opening a file, writing values to it and saving it.
Is there a way to update the data in the Excel (while it's opened) automatically?
Thanks!
Hi,
I need to construct an if statement from the data coming from the client as below:
conditions: condition1, condition2, condition3, condition4
logical operators: lo1, lo2, lo3 (Possible values: "and" "or")
Eg.
if condition1 lo1 condition2 lo3 condition4:
# Do something
I can think of eval/exec but not sure how safe they are! Any better approach or alternative?
Appreciate your responses :)
PS: Client-side: Flex, Server-side: Python, over internet
Thanks
What's the best way to store language data?
Keep it as variables in some kind of lang.php file...
$l_ipsum = 'smth';
$l_rand = 'string';
Or select them from a database? I'm in search of your advice.
While searching for some functions in C++ STL documentation I read that push and pop for priority queues needs constant time.
"Constant (in the priority_queue). Although notice that push_heap operates in logarithmic time."
My question is what kind of data structure is used to mantain a priority queue with O(1) for push and pop ?
How can i convert a hex string lenght 6 bytes for example string ='1122aaccddff';

How would I go around creating a MYSQL table schema inspecting an Excel(or CSV) file.
Are there any ready Python libraries for the task?
Column headers would be sanitized to column names. Datatype would be estimated based on the contents of the spreadsheet column. When done, data would be loaded to the table.
I have an Excel file of ~200 columns that I want to start normalizing.
I need to amend QuerySet data when i return it to a template.
for example, model.objects.all() returns a date (with other fields), but i also want to return the number of days since that date has passed. This is so that in the template, i can say "you last logged in 4 days ago".
What is the best way to do this?
Hello,
what can i do, if a Mailserver accepts a connection but does not return any data? The default javax.mail implementation just hangs indefinitley. Event setting the smtp.timeout does not help - it still hangs. I even tried to set a custom SocketFactory to set the sotimeouts and solinger directly, but it still hangs. Somehow the socket does get kept alive? But how?
Thx for any ideas!
Ciao, Nils
I want to use PHP (possibly with Curl/XPath?) to extract data from Wikipedia pages. What would be the best way to go about this? I'll be using CakePHP for this project, although just need to figure out how to get this working first.
Is there any way to access the Windows Event Log from a java class. Has anyone written any APIs for this, and would there be any way to access the data from a remote machine?
The scenario is:
I run a process on a remote machine, from a controlling Java process.
This remote process logs stuff to the Event Log, which I want to be able to see in the controlling process.
Thanks in advance.
I need to Pass some data to a text file and save that text file in a SQL Server 2005 database.
Then I'll need to be able to load that textfile into a C# WinForms DataGrid.
How do I do that in C#?
I have created a database model in Visio Professional (2003). I know that the Enterprise version has the ability to create a DB in Sql Server based on the data in Visio. I do not have the option to install Enterprise. Aside from going through the entire thing one table and relationship at a time and creating the whole database from scratch, by hand, can anyone recommend any tool/utility/method for converting the visio database model into a Sql Script that can be used to create a new DB in Sql Server?

I'v created a Notepad-like application and if I load a 1MB file into the textbox, it takes about 1 minute. The Visual Studio Binary editor displays lines, Hex, and ascii versions in a fraction of a second. How do they get the data into the textbox so quickly?
Thanks
Say I've written a simple app that draws circles in browser. Now I'd like to let people save their pictures. How would I store the data on the server? Which format would be the best option? Should I simply store the relevant html? What would be the case when I would want to make a custom format that is stored on the server and parsed back to html canvas when loaded?
I'm trying to use a simple mysql database but tweak it so that every field is backed up up to an indefinite number of versions. The best way I can illustrate this is by replacing each and every field of every table with a stack of all the values this field has ever had (each of these values should be timestamped). I guess it's kind of like having customized version control for all my data..
Any ideas on how to do this?

I am reading the Head First PHP/Mysql book and they say to store both the user's username, email into cookies and sessions. Is it safe to assume that everyone nowadays accepts cookies? Or should I store both in sessions and cookies?
I am not storing any sensitive data in cookies such as password, etc.
