• How to set credential persistence permanent on Android

  My app has save login credential feature, so I store cookies for the next use after succeeding to sign in. However, after a time period, the session will be time out and cannot log in with the cookies any more. On iOS, after setting credential persistence to permanent, the app works nicely even after restarting the phone: [[challenge sender] useCredential:[NSURLCredential credentialWithUser:username password:password persistence:NSURLCredentialPersistencePermanent] forAuthenticationChallenge:challenge]; On Android, I cannot find out such kind of this option. Here is from my HttpHelper class: ((AbstractHttpClient) HttpHelper.client).getAuthSchemes().register("ntlm",new NTLMSchemeFactory()); NTCredentials creds = new NTCredentials(user, pass, "", domain); ((AbstractHttpClient) HttpHelper.client).getCredentialsProvider().setCredentials(AuthScope.ANY, creds); The server is SharePoint so I have to deal with ntlm authentication by following this instruction If you have idea, please let me know. • PHP exec problem with s3-put

  Hi there, I use the s3-bash-project to upload data to an S3-Bucket. My command looks like this: /mypath/s3_bash/s3-put -v -k '123456789' -s '/mypath/secret' -T '/mypath/upload/myuploadfile' '/my.bucket/mykeyname' I can run the command from the command line (Mac OS X), and it works well. Now I want to execute it from a PHP-Script: exec($command, $output); but in output, the "s3-put"-command only returns the command's help text. I log the command, and it works if I c&p it from the log the the command line, so there not a problem. It seems that PHP does not pass all the parameters to the command line, although I run escapeshellarg() over all the parameters. I'm using a local XAMPP-Test environment, safe_mode is off. Any ideas?

  I know this insanely simple, but I am re-teaching myself the basics and trying to get my head around this:-) I have one ViewController called MainVC and I have one called ClassVC In ClassVC I have this code: @interface ClassVC : UIViewController { NSString *mainLine; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *mainLine; @end and I have this in the implementation file: @synthesize mainLine = _mainLine; -(NSString *)_mainLine { _mainLine = @"This a string from a Class"; return _mainLine; } Now I was thinking that if I #import the ClassVC into MainVC I would be able to transfer that string along as well like so: This code is in the viewDidLoad _mainLabel.text = _secondClass.mainLine; NSLog(@"%@", _secondClass.mainLine); But that is not working - so cannot I not pass strings in through this way???

  Hi, i am new to servlets. I made a simple hello world programme that prints those famous 2 words to the screen when i access the page via a browser using http://localhost:8080/mypath/path... My question is now, how do i provide a servlet with information? Specifically considering the fact that my c# programme calculates a lookup value for a global system, then the "java" servlet processes that and returns a set of results. I have done the reverse thanks to help on here, regarding calling a returned string from the java servlet in c#. However i am not sure how i go about providing the servlet information. Do i pass it via the url? Thank you

  I am getting this error when I pass an invalid SQL string... I spent the last hour trying to find the problem assuming - It's not my SQL it must be the db handle... ANyway, I've now figured out that it was bad SQL... What I want to do is test the result of the mysql_query() for a valid resultset. I am simply using empty($result)... Is this the most effective test? Is there a more widely accepted method of testing a resultset for a valid result?

  Hi, Hoping someone could pls let me know how to prevent the symbol "&" from being replaced by "&amp;" within my URL, specifically within javascript? Just to expand on requirement, I am getting my url from an oracle database table, which I then use within Oracle Application Express, to set the src attribute of an iframe to this url. FYI, the url stored in the Oracle table is actually stored correctly, i.e. http://mydomain.com/xml/getInfo?s=pvalue1&f=mydir/Summary.xml what appears in my use when trying to pass over into iframe src using javascript is: http://mydomain.com/xml/getInfo?s=pvalue1&amp;f=mydir/Summary.xml which basically returns a page cannot be found Hope this clarified further my issue.   Hi everyone, I have a class that fetches data in response to button presses in the main activity. Unfortunately, I keep running into problems because this class is not an Activity or a Service. For example, without a Context I cannot translate a resource id into a string: getString(R.string.example_string); // Doesn't work Should I make this class into a Service and have the main Activity stop the class when it is closed? Should I pass the Context from the Activity into this class like this? MyClass c = new MyClass(this); Or is there some better way to handle this problem? This issue also comes up when I try to send a Toast from this class.

  Hi all I wrote a control, and use a tool to do the code analysis. There is a test that I didn't pass. Avoid excessive locals, http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/ms182263(VS.90).aspx. In my CreateChildControls function, I built a big table with lots of field. I need to create a lot of TableRow and TableCell to construct the table. But these are not field or property of control. Thery are local variables in the function, which are created dynamically. Should I make these TableCells and TableRows as fields of the control? • ListView Item Detail Screen: New or Same Activity?

  I have a listview where each item correlates to an instance of an item in an array. When the user selects an item, it will bring up a 'Details' page that reads and displays other data members of the list item. Would this be better implemented with the Details page as its own activity, or a new view within the same activity? Pros and cons of each? A new activity makes my job a little easier in terms of handling the 'back' button, but then I have the challenge of how do I pass the rest of the data structure to the new activity since I can't bundle it up (unless I serialize it).

• Can JQuery/JavaScript be used to write a substantial client side application?

  I have an unusual situation - I have an embedded video streaming device with a complicated UI, and I need to use an embedded web server to reproduce that UI through a web browser. I'm thinking of using JavaScript/JQuery on a C++ backend (I am NOT coding all this myself, I need to hire people for the grunt work). The embedded web server is much less powerful than a PC, so I want to write an application that runs the entire UI in the browser, and only communicates with the server to pass new program settings back and forth, get status updates from the device, and control video playback. In other words, the client gets one big page or a small number of big pages (effectively downloading the application), the application maintains significant local memory storage, and once the pages are first loaded the server never sends anything layout-related. The application has two rows of tabs to navigate ~40 menu pages, drag-and-select controls to pick cells in a grid, sorted lists, lots of standard data entry options, and it should be able to control up to 16 embedded video players at once (preferably VLC). Is this possible in JavaScript/JQuery with a C++ backend?

But when i pass it as a parameter to stored procedure its not working. • Putting logic in ViewModel get'ers

  What do you think about putting Get-logic in the getters of a ViewModel? Something like: public class DummyViewModel { public int Id { get; set; } private DummyObject myObject; public DummyObject MyObject { get { if (MyObject == null) { DummyRepository repo = new DummyRepository(); myObject = repo.Get(Id); } return myObject; } } } Is this bad practice, or totally fine? I find my controllers getting really bloated by doing all the get-logic there, but I'm really torn as to where I should put it... My reason for doing it this way, is that I can pass the ViewModel to different types of view, and only the neccessary DB-lookup will be performed based on what property is requested.

• Why is Django sending the wrong email template?

  I'm so baffled... I keep staring at this code, looking for the typo, but I can't find it! template = 'emails/transporter_joined' tt = loader.get_template(template+'.txt') c = Context({'user':user, 'fee': settings.FEE * Decimal('100.00'),'settings':settings}) e = EmailMultiAlternatives('Activate Your Account', tt.render(c), '[email protected]', [user.email]) try: ht = loader.get_template(template+'.html') e.attach_alternative(ht.render(c), 'text/html') except: pass e.send() First it should load the 'emails/transporter_joined.txt' template, and adds that to the email. And then it tries to load a '.html' version and attaches that too. In Gmail you can see the the "original email" with both emails, and all the headers in plain text. It very clearly shows the .txt version twice. the .html and .txt files are definitely different. What am I doing wrong here? If I replace this tt = loader.get_template(template+'.txt') With .html instead, then it sends the .html twice... it must be Django that's screwing up, no?

  I have a question that I dont really know where to start. So I thought i'd ask it here. Basically, I have a drop down with names in it. I want these names to be in alphabetical order. Populating the drop down happens as follows; I query a database and pull down an Id and Name, make a object called "UserList", and set the name and id variables with what I get back. I then add this object to an ArrayList. I do this over and over. I then convert this collection to an array, and pass it to my JSP page using session.setAttribute("userList", UserList); I then populate the drop down as below. <c:forEach items="${usersCompanysList}" var="c" > There probably is a simple answer but how to I sort these names?

  I very curious about making a handwriting recognition application in a web browser. Users draw a letter, ajax sends the data to the server, neural network finds the closest match, and returns results. So if you draw an a, the first result should be an a, then o, then e, something like that. I'm don't know much about neural networks. What kinda data would I need to pass to the NN. Could it be an array of the x/y coordinates where the user has drawn on a pad. Or what type of data is the neural network expecting or would produce the best results for handwriting?

• TSQL Prefixing String Literal on Insert - Any Value to This, or Redundant?

  I just inherited a project that has code similar to the following (rather simple) example: DECLARE @Demo TABLE ( Quantity INT, Symbol NVARCHAR(10) ) INSERT INTO @Demo (Quantity, Symbol) SELECT 127, N'IBM' My interest is with the N before the string literal. I understand that the prefix N is to specify encoding (in this case, Unicode). But since the select is just for inserting into a field that is clearly already Unicode, wouldn't this value be automatically upcast? I've run the code without the N and it appears to work, but am I missing something that the previous programmer intended? Or was the N an oversight on his/her part? I expect behavior similar to when I pass an int to a decimal field (auto-upcast). Can I get rid of those Ns?

Its important that the user can copy the url and then use it later(and get the same settings). Its also important to be able to save these settings on the user in the database.   I read the mails from my gmail account with the code following below. import poplib pop_conn = poplib.POP3_SSL('pop.gmail.com') pop_conn.user('user') # result: '+OK send PASS' pop_conn.pass_('password') # result: '+OK Welcome.' print pop_conn.list()[1] pop_conn.quit() It shows me 1 message as expected. However, if I run this script for the second time, I get 0 messages as result. On the server the message is still there and unread. How can I get all the messages also running the script for the second time? For me it behaves as an email client that doesn't download the same mail twice. Is there some flag to force the program to download everything again? I use python 2.7.x on ubuntu 12.10
