  • UIHint can not resolve template in abstract models

    - by Reza Owliaei
Assume an abstract model like this: public abstract class MyClass : BaseEntity { [UIHint("File")] public long? DocumentFileId { get; set; } } The problem is Cannot resolve template 'File', while there is File.cshtml in View editor templates. The point is, if I don't define MyClass as an abstract class, error will be solved. My question is, why editor template can not resolve in abstract classes, and how can I handle it?

  • Another C datatypes question

    - by b-gen-jack-o-neill
Hello. Well, I completely get the most basic datatypes of C, like short, int, long, float, to be exact, all numerical types. These types are needed to be known perform right operations with right numbers. For example to use FPU to add two float numbers. So the compiler must know what the type is. But, when it comes to characters I am little bit off. I know that basic C datatype char is there for ASCII characters coding. But what I don´t know is, why you even need another datatype for characters. Why could not you just use 1 byte integer value to store ASCII character. If you call printf, you apecify the datatype in the call, so you could say to printf that the integer represents ASCII character. I dont know how cout resolves datatype, but I guess you could just specify it somehow. Another thing is, when you want to use Unicode, you must use datatype wchar. But, what if I would like to use some another, for example ISO, or Windows coding instead of UTF? Becouse wchar codes characters as UTF-16 or UTF-32 (I read its compiler specific). And, what if I would want to use for example some imaginary new 8 byte text coding? What datatype should I use for it? I am actually pretty confused of this, becouse I always expected that if I want to use UTF-32 instead of ASCII, I just tell compiler "get UTF-32 value of the character I typed and save it into 4 char field." I thought that text coding is to be dealt with by the end, print function for example. That I just need to specify the coding for the compiler to use, since Windows doesent use ASCII in win32 apps, I guess C compiler must convert the char I typed to ASCII from whatever the type is that windows sends to the C editor. And the last thing is, what if I want to use for example 25 Byte integer for some high math operations? C has no specify-yourself datatype. Yes, I know that this would be difficult since all the math operations would need to be changed, becouse CPU can not add 25 Bytes numbers together. But is there a way to do it? Or is there some math library for it? What if I want to compute Pi to 1000000000000000 digits? :) I know my question is pretty long, but I just wanted to explain my thoughts the best I can in English, since its not my native language it is difficult. And I believe there is simple answer to my question(s), something I missed that explains everything. I read lot about text coding, C tutorials, but nothing about his. Thank you for your time.

  • Using Ruby/Python code in an iPhone OS app?

    - by igul222
My app needs to use a library which is only available for Python and Ruby. From my understanding, Apple allows Ruby to run on iPhone as long as users can't execute arbitrary code (Rhomobile uses Ruby). How can I bundle Ruby/Python with my app, call a function from my Obj-C code, and get the result (a string) back in C or Obj-C format?

  • ubuntu gnome short cut keys

    - by benjipete
Hi, I have done something quite silly and not sure how to fix it. I modified some of the gnome keyboard short cuts and was trying to disable the "Run Application" command. In the process I assigned it to the delete key and every time I hit delete the "Run Application" window comes up. It would not normally be a problem but the "Keyboard Shortcuts" no long has the short cut in the window so I can't disable it. Any help advice would be appreciated. Cheers Ben

  • Python large variable RAM useage

    - by PPTim
Hi, Say there is a dict variable that grows very large during runtime- up into millions of key:value pairs. Does this variable get stored in RAM,effectively using up all the available memory and slowing down the rest of the system? Asking the interpreter to display the entire dict is a bad idea, but would it be okay as long as one key is accessed at a time? Tim

  • Is the WebAii test automation framework dead?

    - by RyanW
Is the WebAii framework still available and free? Am I just missing it? After putting it off for too long, I've finally started automated UI testing on my current project. I had WebAii from ArtOfTest on my list to look at, but it looks like it's been killed off by Telerik and now they're asking $1500 for their new WebUI test studio. I can't find anything definitive on Telerik's site, too much marketing. But, it seems to be pretty clear.

  • Dealing with development and large javascript files?

    - by maxp
When dealing with websites with large amount of javascript, i see that these are still usually served to the client as one large javascript file. In the development phase, are the javascript files usually split up (say there are 300 lines of js) to make things abit more manageable, and then merged when the website is 'put live'? Or do the developers just put up with working in one long large file?

  • asp.net mvc xval validation

    - by mctayl
    Hi there I am using xval for the first time, it seems to work fine for required fields, However I am having some issues first of all it does not seem to validate booleans and also client validation is not working for me, this is not a major issue for me, the one that I really need to work is the stringlength property. It seems to do something because the form is not posted when the string length is exceeded, however no error message is displayed to the user which is obviously not what I want, has anyone been able to do this successfully? My model goes like this using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations; namespace PitchPortal.Core { public class DocumentMetadata { //[Required] // public bool visibility { get; set; } [Required,StringLength(10, ErrorMessage = "title is too long")] public string title { get; set; } [Required, StringLength(10, ErrorMessage = "description is too long")] public string description { get; set; } [Required, StringLength(10, ErrorMessage = "summary is too long")] public string summary { get; set; } } } the html goes like this <div id="results" title="Upload results"/> <form id="myForm" action="<%=Url.Action("New") %>" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <% Html.EnableClientValidation(); %> <%= Html.ValidationSummary() %> <table> <tr> <td> <%=Html.Label("File")%></td> <td> <input type="file" id="file1" name="fileUpload" /> <br /> <%=Html.SubmitButton<DocumentController>(x => x.Upload(), "GetImage", "")%> </td> <td> <%=Html.ValidationMessage("file1")%> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <%=Html.Label("Visible")%></td> <td> <%= Html.RadioButton( "visibility",true,true) %>true <%= Html.RadioButton("visibility", false)%>false </td> <td> <%= Html.ValidationMessage("visibility")%> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <%=Html.Label("Title")%></td> <td> <%=Html.TextBox("doc.title")%></td> <td> <%= Html.ValidationMessage("doc.title")%></td> </tr> <tr> <td> <%=Html.Label("Description")%></td> <td><%= Html.TextArea("doc.description")%></td> <td><%= Html.ValidationMessage("doc.description")%></td> </tr> <tr> <td> <%=Html.Label("Summary")%></td> <td> <%= Html.TextArea("doc.summary")%></td> <td> <%= Html.ValidationMessage("doc.summary")%></td> </tr> <tr> <td> <%=Html.Label("Filetype")%></td> <td> <%= Html.DropDownList("Filetype_id", (IEnumerable<SelectListItem>)ViewData.Model.AllFiletypesList)%> </td> <td> <%= Html.ValidationMessage("doc.Filetype_id")%> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <%=Html.Label("Category")%></td> <td><%= Html.DropDownList("cat.parent_id", (IEnumerable<SelectListItem>)ViewData.Model.AllCategoriesList, "-please select item-", new { className = "unselected" })%> </td> <td><%= Html.ValidationMessage("cat.parent_id")%> </td> </tr> <% if (Session["TempFolder"] == null) { for (int i = 1; i < 6; i++) { %> <tr> <td> <%=Html.Label("Shot "+i.ToString()) %> </td> <td><input type="file" id="image_<%= i.ToString() %>" name="image_<%= i.ToString() %>" /></td> </tr> <% } }%> <tr> <td><input type="submit" value="save"/></td> </tr> </table> </form> </div>

  • How to do run length encoding?

    - by Phoenix
I have a long string for example it could be "aaaaaabbccc". Need to represent it as "a6b2c3". What's the best way to do this ? I could do this in linear time by comparing characters and incrementing counts and then replacing the counts in the array, using two indexes in one pass. Can you guys think of a better way than this? Are any of the encoding techniques going to work here ?

  • How do I implement TimeOut in idarkstar?

    - by malik
Hi, A little background on the question: I am developing a RedDwarf(http://reddwarfserver.org/) client on iphone, for the client/server communication I use idarkstar. I had to make minor modifications to make it work till now. So here's the question, if the server is taking to long to respond or the network is very slow, how do I add a timeout functionality to make sure it doesn't keep waiting on the server forever? appreciate any pointers.

  • Invalidating the HTTP Cache on read only front servers

    - by Microserf
We have a CMS system and in the production mode a number of servers only have read-only access to the content (with a few exceptions) and the editors for the site work on the content on servers behind it (which are not available to the public). We're caching the content quite a long time on the front servers, but sometimes we want the content the editors publish to be available for visitors instantly. What would the best way be to invalidate the cache in this situation, should we trigger it from our code?
