    - by Nishant Kumar
Hi, I want to access the messages stored in inbox through my android project. I have tried the method of forming URI for sms (content://sms/ inbox) and then quering it for various parametres. But I cannot find any documentation for reading inbox sms in the standard Android Developr Docs. It was mentioned at various websites that this content has been removed from the standard sdk. The application may not support higher version of android. So, how can I create an apllication to read sms from inbox that is reliable in furture version of android. Please help !!

  • Eclipse is not importing jar dependencies between two projects in the same workspace

    - by jax
Here is the situation. I have a java project "LicenseGenerator" in eclipse that depends on commons-codec. I have therefore added the commons-codec jar file to the build path. I have Junit tests and everything is working fine. I have made a different project in the same workspace - which happens to be an Android project - that needs to use my LicenseGenerator classes. I added LicenseGenerator to the "projects" tab in the build path - the classes were recognized and I was able to use them. Everything compiled and ran. However, when the part of the LicenseGenerator that used the commons-codec was called from my Android project I got the following error. Could not find method org.apache.commons.codec.binary.Base64.encodeBase64URLSafeString, referenced from method This basically tells me that the commons-codec was not packaged which the Android project, so I added the commons-codec to the android project as well but the same error appears. how do I fix this?

  • Network Differences

    - by Chris
I am busy working on a java app to run on blackberries but on some devices i am testing on, the code does not seem to be working and im having a hard time pinpointing where the problem lies. My question is: Could the problem with some phones working and not working have t odo with the type of network they are running on such GSM vs CDMA and would the code that stops working on some devices be in one of the following areas: 1) Listeners - such as MessageListener and Phone Listener 2) UI Objects - simple test labels and buttons 3) Connection to a web service using ksoap2

  • How to change the picture of CustomButtonField on click event?

    - by Ujjal boruah Vinod
I have posted this question previously but the answer is not appropiate. The solution provided just change the picture when the custombutton has focus and unfocus. Suppose in my application I need to change the picture if the user clicks on the customButton, n i m doing this by calling the same screen (ie UiApplication.getUiApplication().pushScreen(new Screen2(b));) . Screen2 is the screen which holds the customButton. On the click evevt i m pushing the same screen by passing aint variable pic_status that determines which picture to be drawn in the CustomButton in the new screen. Is there any way to update the picture in the CustomButtonField on click event without pushing the same Screen again and again. //code in Screen2 public void fieldChanged(Field field, int context) { if(field == bf1) { if(pic_status == 0) { pic_status=1; } UiApplication.getUiApplication().pushScreen(new Screen2(pic_status)); } //code in CustomButtonField CustomButtonField(String label, int pic_status,long style) { super(style); this.label = label; this.labelHeight = getFont().getHeight(); this.labelWidth = getFont().getAdvance(label); this.notice = s; if(pic_status ==0) { currentPicture1 = onPicture; currentPicture2 = onPicture; } if(pic_status ==1) { currentPicture1 = clickPicture; currentPicture2 = onPicture; } if( pic_status==2 ) { currentPicture1 = onPicture; currentPicture2 = clickPicture; } } I need a way to update the customButtonField text and picture on the buttonClick event not on focus/unfocus event without pushing the same Screen again and again. If my above description of problem is not satisfactory, plz add a comment n i can give more details explanation of my problem?

  • how to create a array of labelfields

    - by sheetal_r oswal
I have 'n' number of data which has to be added to a label field which in turn has to be added to hfm.I am setting the single data in to label field as : final LabelField desc = new LabelField("", LabelField.FOCUSABLE); final LabelField desc1 = new LabelField("", LabelField.FOCUSABLE); Vector data = (Vector) listEvent.get(keys); for (int i = 0; i < data.size(); i++) { EventData ee = (EventData) data.elementAt(i); String Summary= ee.getSummary(); if (time.getText().equals(sTime)) { desc.setText(Summary); } else{ desc1.setText(Summary); } } HorizontalFieldManager horizontalFieldManager_left18 = new HorizontalFieldManager() { horizontalFieldManager_left18.add(desc1); vfm.add(horizontalFieldManager_left18); vfm.add(new SeparatorField()); HorizontalFieldManager horizontalFieldManager_left17 = new HorizontalFieldManager() { horizontalFieldManager_left17.add(desc); vfm.add(horizontalFieldManager_left17); vfm.add(new SeparatorField()); In the above code i loop over vector and set the data into labelfield and adding the label to hfm later. Now the case is the vector data has more than one summary data, and the data is getting overridden in labelfield,i need to keep 'n' number of summary data into lablefield and add to new hfm.

    - by Carbonizer
How does application/JVM know which classes if implemented key handling interfaces ? Does it use java Reflections or does it check all the classes for methods ? How can a application or executing JVM understanding to deliver the user event or call the specific methods on a class that implemented the keylistener interface. Does it look at all the classes if those methods are implemented or how does it know which classes implmented keylistener interface ? If you dont implement the keylistener Interface for a class but still implmentation all its methods. Do the class still process the user event occurred ?

  • On android how would I go about creating a prompt for an app that requires a user to enter a username before fully launching the app?

    - by racl101
I'll preface this with I'm really new to working on Android. So I have to work on an existing app and create a screen that prompts the user for a username if one isn't entered then it won't launch the currently existing main activity (i.e. it won't fully launch the app. Instead it will just sit on that screen until a username is entered.) I suppose that it's tantamount to a web app login page in that it will not let a user past that page if the user is not authenticated and authorized. However, there's no authentication nor authorization in this app. Instead, on first run a user must simply register with a username and that username gets saved to the database and for any subsequent runs the app's main activity will just start because a user has registered to that phone. In fact, the app will not prompt the user for their name again unless the app gets deleted with all its data and reinstalled again. This implicitly means that I have to save the user's name in the database or some other kind of storage. So I was wondering what would be the best way of doing this in an app with an existing main activity? Should I try to accomplish this on that existing main activity or create a new activity to display this prompt screen and, in effect, block the main activity from running until the user enters their name? Any tutorials or links would be helpful and thank you in advance for any help.

  • Unable to install drivers of any kind of device on windows 8.1

    - by saadj55
Windows 8.1 is unable to install drivers. First, I wanted to install Android ADB drivers for my Chinese Android Phone. I downloaded the relevant drivers from the manufacturers site and enabled USB debugging on my phone and tried to install it but Windows failed to find any drivers in the driver folder. After searching on google, I got to know that I will have to edit the win_usb.inf file in order to install the drivers so I did the editing part also. Added these line: %SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C03 %CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C03 to both NTamd and NTx86 sections but the problem persists. Phone's current hardware id is: VID_0BB4&PID_0C03 I noticed that I need hardware ID with &MI_01 appended at the end. But Windows detects the device with the above hardware ID. I have the webcam drivers so I uninstalled WebCam Drivers to check if they can be installed back but I am also not able to install drivers for it. Windows is detecting the camera without that &MI_01 part. Please help. I cannot install webcam nor my android phone.

  • Route outbound connections from local network through VPN

    - by Sharkos
I have a server A running OpenVPN, an OpenVPN client B (a rooted Android phone as it happens) and a third party C (a laptop, tablet etc.) tethered to B. B can use the VPN to access the internet via A; C can use the tethered connection WITHOUT the VPN to access the internet via B. However, with the VPN on B active, I cannot load information from the internet on C. A appears to log similar traffic inbound and outbound when B or C attempt to load a webpage, say, but the VPN on device B reports no inbound traffic when the connection originated from C. Where should I look for packets being dropped, and what ip rules should I use to make sure they are passed back through the VPN and into the local network B <- C? (I'll obviously post whatever further information is needed.) Further info Without VPN: root@android:/ # ip route default via [B's External Gateway] dev rmnet0 [B's External Subnet] dev rmnet0 proto kernel scope link src [B's External IP] [B's External Gateway] dev rmnet0 scope link 192.168.43.0/24 dev wlan0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.43.1 With VPN: root@android:/ # ip route 0.0.0.0/1 dev tun0 scope link default via [B's External Gateway] dev rmnet0 [B's External Subnet] dev rmnet0 proto kernel scope link src [B's External IP] [B's External Gateway] dev rmnet0 scope link [External address of A] dev tun0 scope link 128.0.0.0/1 dev tun0 scope link 172.16.0.0/24 dev tun0 scope link 172.16.0.8/30 dev tun0 proto kernel scope link src 172.16.0.10 192.168.43.0/24 dev wlan0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.43.1 192.168.168.0/24 dev tun0 scope link
