  • Welcome 2011

    - by WeigeltRo
Things that happened in 2010 MIX10 was absolutely fantastic. Read my report of MIX10 to see why.   The dotnet Cologne 2010, the community conference organized by the .NET user group Köln and my own group Bonn-to-Code.Net became an even bigger success than I dared to dream of.   There was a huge discrepancy between the efforts by Microsoft to support .NET user groups to organize public live streaming events of the PDC keynote (the dotnet Cologne team joined forces with netug  Niederrhein to organize the PDCologne) and the actual content of the keynote. The reaction of the audience at our event was “meh” and even worse I seriously doubt we’ll ever get that number of people to such an event (which on top of that suffered from technical difficulties beyond our control).   What definitely would have deserved the public live streaming event treatment was the Silverlight Firestarter (aka “Silverlight Damage Control”) event. And maybe we would have thought about organizing something if it weren’t for the “burned earth” left by the PDC keynote. Anyway, the stuff shown at the firestarter keynote was the topic of conversations among colleagues days later (“did you see that? oh yeah, that was seriously cool”). Things that I have learned/observed/noticed in 2010 In the long run, there’s a huge difference between “It works pretty well” and “it just works and I never have to think about it”. I had to get rid of my USB graphics adapter powering the third monitor (read about it in this blog post). Various small issues (desktop icons sometimes moving their positions after a reboot for no apparent reasons, at least one game I couldn’t get run at all, all three monitors sometimes simply refusing to wake up after standby) finally made me buy a PCIe 1x graphics adapter. If you’re interested: The combination of a NVIDIA GTX 460 and a GT 220 is running in “don’t make me think” mode for a couple of months now.   PowerPoint 2010 is a seriously cool piece of software. Not only the new hardware-accelerated effects, but also features like built-in background removal and picture processing (which in many cases are simply “good enough” and save a lot of time) or the smart guides.   Outlook 2010 crashes on me a lot. I haven’t been successful in reproducing these crashes, they just happen when every couple of days on different occasions (only thing in common: I clicked something in the main window – yeah, very helpful observation)   Visual Studio 2010 reminds me of Visual Studio 2005 before SP1, which is actually not a good thing to say about a piece of software. I think it’s telling that Microsoft’s message regarding the beta of SP1 has been different from earlier service pack betas (promising an upgrade path for a beta to the RTM sounds to me like “please, please use it NOW!”).   I have a love/hate relationship with ReSharper. I don’t want to develop without it, but at the same time I can’t fail to notice that ReSharper is taking a heavy toll in terms of performance and sometimes stability. Things I’m looking forward to in 2011 Obviously, the dotnet Cologne 2011. We already have been able to score some big name sponsors (Microsoft, Intel), but we’re still looking for more sponsors. And be assured that we’ll make sure that our partners get the most out of their contribution, regardless of how big or small.   MIX11, period.    Silverlight 5 is going to be great. The only thing I’m a bit nervous about is that I still haven’t read anything official on whether C# next version’s async/await will be in it. Leaving that out would be really stupid considering the end-of-2011 release of SL5 (moving the next release way into the future).

  • Unable to Update Sharepoint Document Properties : Required Fields are Empty.

    - by Pari
Hi, I am updating Documents on Sharepoint using List.asmx web service. But problem i am facing is: Fields are not getting Updated as some of required fields are not added. But to fill required fields i have to again Update. "ID" field is compulsary at the time of Update. Which we get only after uploading Document.( we get this id by "ows_id" attriute value) Edit : As said by "Janis Veinbergs" We can't get this ID untill document is actualy saved. So how will i update document as ID field is must for Update. If i don't Put ID Field : Error : 0x8102000aInvalid URL Parameter The URL provided contains an invalid Command or Value. Please check the URL again. If i put Null Value to it: Error :0x81020016Item does not exist The page you selected contains an item that does not exist. It may have been deleted by another user. Is there any way to set document properties at the time of uploaidng files on Sharepoint. *Note : i am uploading file in Chunck. And Not using Microsoft.sharepoint.dll * Language : C# I tried this code But here again properties are being set after uploading file.

  • SharePoint Permissions: User with Contribute change cannot change a list item they did not create?

    - by antik
I've build a custom SharePoint list that programatically adjusts permissions per list item. This part of the app works by clearing all permissions in the list item and adding permissions to the folks I want to grant Read or Contribute permission to. I believe this part of the application to be correct: selecting Manage Permissions on a list item I can see the appropriate users and roles for the list items in question in the Permissions list. However, I was surprised to realize that only the user who submitted a list item can successfully edit the item. I'll describe what I'm seeing with the following two users: UserA and UserB. UserA submitted the list item. UserB is trying to edit the same list item after the permissions have been assigned (either manually or programatically). UserB cannot edit the list item: UserB can see the Edit Item link on the item toolbar. UserB can click the link and will see EditForm.aspx. When UserB makes changes and presses submit, UserB encounters the out of box SharePoint "Access Denied" error page. The event handler for the list item update does not fire. Manually elevating UserB's permission to include Full Control does not affect the behavior above. By contrast, UserA encounters far more predictable behavior: UserA can see the Edit Item link on the item toolbar. UserA can click the link and will see EditForm.aspx. When UserA submits, the changes are persisted and the user is redirected back to the item list. Event Handlers fire after UserA submits. This leaves me with several questions: Is this an expected behavior for SharePoint that I managed to overlook? What can I do to allow UserB to modify the list item?

  • How to change TXSDateTime SOAP serialization in Delphi 7?

    - by LukLed
I am trying to use Java based webservice and have soap request: <?xml version="1.0"?> <SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:SOAP-ENC="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/"> <SOAP-ENV:Body xmlns:NS1="http://something/"> <NS1:getRequest id="1"> <sessionId xsi:type="xsd:string"></sessionId> <reportType xsi:type="NS1:reportType">ALL</reportType> <xsd:dateFrom xsi:type="xsd:dateTime">2010-05-30T23:29:43.088+02:00</xsd:dateFrom> <xsd:dateTo xsi:type="xsd:dateTime">2010-05-31T23:29:43.728+02:00</xsd:dateTo> </NS1:getRequest> <parameters href="#1" /> </SOAP-ENV:Body> </SOAP-ENV:Envelope> It doesn't work, because webservice doesn't recognize dates as parameters. When I change <xsd:dateFrom xsi:type="xsd:dateTime">2010-05-30T23:29:43.088+02:00</xsd:dateFrom> <xsd:dateTo xsi:type="xsd:dateTime">2010-05-31T23:29:43.728+02:00</xsd:dateTo> to <dateFrom xsi:type="xsd:dateTime">2010-05-30T23:29:43.088+02:00</xsd:dateFrom> <dateTo xsi:type="xsd:dateTime">2010-05-31T23:29:43.728+02:00</xsd:dateTo> everything works ok, but Delphi (without Delphi source code changes) doesn't allow to change generated XML, it has only some options. Is it possible to set conversion options, so TSXDateTime is converted to <dateFrom, not <xsd:dateFrom tag? Did you meet that problem?

  • Populating FullCalendar events from MVC

    - by jasonmhirst
I've having difficulty in populating FullCalendar from MVC and would like a little assistance on the matter please. I have the following code for my controller: Function GetEvents(ByVal [start] As Double, ByVal [end] As Double) As JsonResult Dim sqlConnection As New SqlClient.SqlConnection sqlConnection.ConnectionString = My.Settings.sqlConnection Dim sqlCommand As New SqlClient.SqlCommand sqlCommand.CommandText = "SELECT tripID AS ID, tripName AS Title, DATEDIFF(s, '1970-01-01 00:00:00', dateStart) AS [Start], DATEDIFF(s, '1970-01-01 00:00:00', dateEnd) AS [End] FROM tblTrip WHERE userID=18 AND DateStart IS NOT NULL" sqlCommand.Connection = sqlConnection Dim ds As New DataSet Dim da As New SqlClient.SqlDataAdapter(sqlCommand) da.Fill(ds, "Meetings") sqlConnection.Close() Dim meetings = From c In ds.Tables("Meetings") Select {c.Item("ID"), c.Item("Title"), "False", c.Item("Start"), c.Item("End")} Return Json(meetings.ToArray(), JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet) End Function This does indeed run correctly but the format that is returned is: [[25,"South America 2008","False",1203033600,1227657600],[48,"Levant 2009","False",1231804800,1233619200],[49,"South America 2009","False",1235433600,1237420800],[50,"Italy 2009","False",1241049600,1256083200],[189,"Levant 2010a","False",1265414400,1267574400],[195,"Levant 2010a","False",1262736000,1262736000],[208,"Levant 2010a","False",1264982400,1267574400],[209,"Levant 2010a","False",1264982400,1265587200],[210,"Levant 2010","False",1264982400,1266969600],[211,"Levant 2010 b","False",1267056000,1267574400],[213,"South America 2010a","False",1268438400,1269648000],[214,"Levant 2010 c","False",1266364800,1264118400],[215,"South America 2010a","False",1268611200,1269648000],[217,"South America 2010","False",1268611200,1269561600],[218,"South America 2010 b","False",1268956800,1269388800],[227,"levant 2010 b","False",1265846400,1266192000]] And this is totally different to what I've seen on the post from here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2445359/jquery-fullcalendar-json-date-issue (note the lack of tag information and curly braces) Can someone please explain to me what I may be doing wrong and why my output isn't correctly formatted. • Can't get SWT Display on Mac OS X.

    - by Mattias Holmqvist
I'm running Mac OS X Snow Leopard and wan't to access the Display from the activator in an OSGi bundle. Below is the start method for my activator: @Override public void start(BundleContext context) throws Exception { ExecutorService service = Executors.newSingleThreadExecutor(); service.execute(new Runnable() { @Override public void run() { Display display = Display.getDefault(); Shell shell = new Shell(display); Text helloText = new Text(shell, SWT.CENTER); helloText.setText("Hello SWT!"); helloText.pack(); shell.pack(); shell.open(); while (!shell.isDisposed()) { if (!display.readAndDispatch()) display.sleep(); } display.dispose(); } }); } Calling this code in a Windows environment works fine, but deploying on Mac OS X I get the following output: 2009-10-14 17:17:54.050 java[2010:10003] *** __NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x101620d20 of class NSCFString autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2009-10-14 17:17:54.081 java[2010:10003] *** __NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x100119240 of class NSCFNumber autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2009-10-14 17:17:54.084 java[2010:10003] *** __NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x1001024b0 of class NSCFString autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2009-10-14 17:17:54.086 java[2010:10003] *** __NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x7fff701d7f70 of class NSCFString autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2009-10-14 17:17:54.087 java[2010:10003] *** __NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x100113330 of class NSCFString autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking 2009-10-14 17:17:54.092 java[2010:10003] *** __NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x101624540 of class NSCFData autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking . . . I've used the -XstartOnFirstThread VM argument without any luck. I'm on 64-bit Cocoa but I've also tried 32-bit Cocoa. When trying on Carbon I get the following error: Invalid memory access of location 00000020 eip=9012337c When debugging into the Display class I can see that the Displays[] array only contains null references.

  • Year split in Quarters using basic jQuery

    - by Alexander Corotchi
Hi, I have a interesting question: I want to split the year into 4 quarters. What is the idea, A quarter can be different: The HTML Code: <div class="quarterBody"> <span>04-29-2010</span> <span>06-29-2010</span> <span>08-29-2010</span> </div> jQuery (javascript) is total wrong, I hope that w: $(document).ready(function(){ var quarter1 = to make interval (01-01-2010 to 03-31-2010); var quarter2 = to make interval (03-01-2010 to 06-31-2010); var quarter3 = to make interval (06-01-2010 to 09-31-2010); var quarter4 = to make interval (09-01-2010 to 12-31-2010); ... $(".quarterBody span").each(function(){ var date = Date.parse($(this).text()); //to apply some magic code $(this).addClass(quarterNumber); }); }); OUTPUT: <div class="quarterBody"> <span class="Quarter1">02-29-2010</span> <span class="Quarter2">04-29-2010</span> <span class="Quarter3">08-29-2010</span> ... </div> I know right now it is a stupid way, but I hope that somebody can help me, or suggest an idea how to do that in a better way!! • Processing a log to fix a malformed IP address ?.?.?.x

    - by skymook
I would like to replace the first character 'x' with the number '7' on every line of a log file using a shell script. Example of the log file: 216.129.119.x [01/Mar/2010:00:25:20 +0100] "GET /etc/.... 74.131.77.x [01/Mar/2010:00:25:37 +0100] "GET /etc/.... 222.168.17.x [01/Mar/2010:00:27:10 +0100] "GET /etc/.... My humble beginnings... #!/bin/bash echo Starting script... cd /Users/me/logs/ gzip -d /Users/me/logs/access.log.gz echo Files unzipped... echo I'm totally lost here to process the log file and save it back to hd... exit 0 Why is the log file IP malformed like this? My web provider (1and1) has decide not to store IP address, so they have replaced the last number with the character 'x'. They told me it was a new requirement by 'law'. I personally think that is bs, but that would take us off topic. I want to process these log files with AWstats, so I need an IP address that is not malformed. I want to replace the x with a 7, like so: 216.129.119.7 [01/Mar/2010:00:25:20 +0100] "GET /etc/.... 74.131.77.7 [01/Mar/2010:00:25:37 +0100] "GET /etc/.... 222.168.17.7 [01/Mar/2010:00:27:10 +0100] "GET /etc/.... Not perfect I know, but least I can process the files, and I can still gain a lot of useful information like country, number of visitors, etc. The log files are 200MB each, so I thought that a shell script is the way to go because I can do that rapidly on my Macbook Pro locally. Unfortunately, I know very little about shell scripting, and my javascript skills are not going to cut it this time. I appreciate your help.

  • Handling asynchronous responses

I'm building an FTP client from scratch and I've noticed that the response codes aren't immediate (which is no surprise). What would be a good approach for getting the corresponding code to a command? Below is an example of the output of Filezilla server. The response code is the three digits near the end of each line. • Connection reset when calling disconnect() using enterprisedt's ftp java framework

    - by Frederik Wordenskjold
I'm having trouble disconnecting from a ftp-server, using the enterprisedt java ftp framework. I can simply not call disconnect() on a FileTransferClient object without getting an error. I do not do anything, besides connecting to the server, and then disconnecting: // create client log.info("Creating FTP client"); ftp = new FileTransferClient(); // set remote host log.info("Setting remote host"); ftp.setRemoteHost(host); ftp.setUserName(username); ftp.setPassword(password); // connect to the server log.info("Connecting to server " + host); ftp.connect(); log.info("Connected and logged in to server " + host); // Shut down client log.info("Quitting client"); ftp.disconnect(); log.info("Example complete"); When running this, the log reads: INFO [test] 28 maj 2010 16:57:20.216 : Creating FTP client INFO [test] 28 maj 2010 16:57:20.263 : Setting remote host INFO [test] 28 maj 2010 16:57:20.263 : Connecting to server x INFO [test] 28 maj 2010 16:57:20.979 : Connected and logged in to server x INFO [test] 28 maj 2010 16:57:20.979 : Quitting client ERROR [FTPControlSocket] 28 maj 2010 16:57:21.026 : Read failed ('' read so far) And the stacktrace: com.enterprisedt.net.ftp.ControlChannelIOException: Connection reset at com.enterprisedt.net.ftp.FTPControlSocket.readLine(FTPControlSocket.java:1029) at com.enterprisedt.net.ftp.FTPControlSocket.readReply(FTPControlSocket.java:1089) at com.enterprisedt.net.ftp.FTPControlSocket.sendCommand(FTPControlSocket.java:988) at com.enterprisedt.net.ftp.FTPClient.quit(FTPClient.java:4044) at com.enterprisedt.net.ftp.FileTransferClient.disconnect(FileTransferClient.java:1034) at test.main(test.java:46) It should be noted, that I without problems can connect, and do stuff with the server, like getting a list of files in the current working directory. But I cant, for some reason, disconnect! I've tried using both active and passive mode. The above example is by the way copy/pasted from their own example. I cannot fint ANYTHING related to this by doing a Google-search, so I was hoping you have any suggestions, or experience with this issue.

  • Why does 12:20 PM parse to 0:20 on the next day?

    - by Hanno Fietz
I'm using java.text.SimpleDateFormat to parse string representations of date/time values inside an XML document. I'm seeing all times that have an hour value of 12 shifted by 12 hours into the future, i. e. 20 minutes past noon gets parsed to mean 20 minutes past midnight the following day. I wrote a unit test which seems to confirm that the error is made upon parsing (I checked the return values from getTime() with the linux shell command date). Now I'm wondering: is there a bug in the parse() method? is there something wrong with the input string? am I using the wrong format string for the input? The input data is taken from Yahoo's YWeather service. Here's the test and its output: public class YWeatherReaderTest { public static final String[] rgDateSamples = { "Thu, 08 Apr 2010 12:20 PM CEST", "Thu, 08 Apr 2010 12:20 AM CEST" }; public void dateParsing() throws ParseException { DateFormat formatter = new SimpleDateFormat("EEE, dd MMM yyyy K:m a z", Locale.US); for (String dtsSrc : YWeatherReaderTest.rgDateSamples) { Date dt = formatter.parse(dtsSrc); String dtsDst = formatter.format(dt); System.out.println(dtsSrc); System.out.println(dtsDst); System.out.println(); } } } Thu, 08 Apr 2010 12:20 PM CEST Fri, 09 Apr 2010 0:20 AM CEST Thu, 08 Apr 2010 12:20 AM CEST Thu, 08 Apr 2010 0:20 PM CEST The second output line of the second iteration is slightly weird, because 00:20 isn't PM. The milliseconds value of the Date object, however, corresponds to the (wrong) time of 20 minutes past noon.

  • iPhone: variable type returned by yajl

    - by Luc
Hello, I'm quite new to iphone programming and I want to do the following stuff: get data from a JSON REST web server parse the received data using YAJL Draw a graph with those data using core-plot So, 1th item is fine, I use ASIHttpRequest which runs as espected 3rd is almost fine (I still have to learn how to tune core-plot). The problem I have is regarding 2nd item. I use YAJL as it seems to be the faster parser, so why not give it a try :) Here is the part of code that gets the data from the server and parse them: // Get server data response_data = [request responseData]; // Parse JSON received self.arrayFromData = [response_data yajl_JSON]; NSLog(@"Array from data: %@", self.arrayFromData); The parsing works quite well in fact, the NSLog output is something like: 2010-06-14 17:56:35.375 TEST_APP[3733:207] Array from data : { data = ( { val = 1317; date = "2010-06-10T15:50:01+02:00"; }, { val = 1573; date = "2010-06-10T16:20:01+02:00"; }, ........ { val = 840; date = "2010-06-11T14:50:01+02:00"; }, { val = 1265; date = "2010-06-11T15:20:01+02:00"; } ); from = "2010-06-10T15:50:01+02:00"; to = "2010-06-11T15:20:01+02:00"; max = "2590"; } According to th yajl-objc explanations http://github.com/gabriel/yajl-objc, the parsing returns a NSArray... The thing is... I do not know how to get all the values from it as for me it looks more like a NSDictionary than a NSArray... Could you please help ? Thanks a lot, Luc edit1: it happens that this object is actually a NSCFDictionary (!), I am still not able to get value from it, when I try the objectFromKey method (that should work on a Dictionary, no ?) it fails.

  • CentOS: make python 2.6 see django

    - by NP
In a harrowing attempt to get mod_wsgi to run on CentOS 5.4, I've added python 2.6 as an optional library following the instructions here. The configuration seems fine except that when trying to ping the server the Apache log prints this error: mod_wsgi (pid=20033, process='otalo', application='127.0.0.1|'): Loading WSGI script '...django.wsgi'. • Is there a way to customize how the value for a custom Model Field is displayed in a template?

    - by Jordan Reiter
I am storing dates as an integer field in the format YYYYMMDD, where month or day is optional. I have the following function for formatting the number: def flexibledateformat(value): import datetime, re try: value = str(int(value)) except: return None match = re.match(r'(\d{4})(\d\d)(\d\d)$',str(value)) if match: year_val, month_val, day_val = [int(v) for v in match.groups()] if day_val: return datetime.datetime.strftime(datetime.date(year_val,month_val,day_val),'%b %e, %Y') elif month_val: return datetime.datetime.strftime(datetime.date(year_val,month_val,1),'%B %Y') else: return str(year_val) Which results in the following outputs: >>> flexibledateformat(20100415) 'Apr 15, 2010' >>> flexibledateformat(20100400) 'April 2010' >>> flexibledateformat(20100000) '2010' So I'm wondering if there's a function I can add under the model field class that would automatically call flexibledateformat. So if there's a record r = DataRecord(name='foo',date=20100400) when processed in the form the value would be 20100400 but when output in a template using {{ r.date }} it shows up as "April 2010". Further clarification I do normally use datetime for storing date/time values. In this specific case, I need to record non-specific dates: "x happened in 2009", "y happened sometime in June 1996". The easiest way to do this while still preserving most of the functionality of a date field, including sorting and filtering, is by using an integer in the format of yyyymmdd. That is why I am using an IntegerField instead of a DateTimeField. This is what I would like to happen: I store what I call a "Flexible Date" in a FlexibleDateField as an integer with the format yyyymmdd. I render a form that includes a FlexibleDateField, and the value remains an integer so that functions necessary for validating it and rendering it in widgets work correctly. I call it in a template, as in {{ object.flexibledate }} and it is formatted according to the flexibledateformat rules: 20100416 - April 16, 2010; 20100400 - April 2010; 20100000 - 2010. This also applies when I'm not calling it directly, such as when it's used as a header in admin (http://example.org/admin/app_name/model_name/). I'm not aware if these specific things are possible.

  • LuaEdit can't find module when Lua files all in the same folder

    - by joverboard
I downloaded LuaEdit to use as an IDE and debug tool however I'm having trouble using it for even the simplest things. I've created a solution with 2 files in it, all of which are stored in the same folder. My files are as follows: --startup.lua require("foo") test("Testing", "testing", "one, two, three") --foo.lua foo = {} print("In foo.lua") function test(a,b,c) print(a,b,c) end This works fine when in my C++ compiler when accessed through some embed code, however when I attempt to use the same code in LuaEdit, it crashes on line 3 require("foo") with an error stating: module 'foo' not found: no field package.preload['foo'] no file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\LuaEdit 2010\lua\foo.lua' no file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\LuaEdit 2010\lua\foo\init.lua' no file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\LuaEdit 2010\foo.lua' no file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\LuaEdit 2010\foo\init.lua' no file '.\foo.lua' no file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\LuaEdit 2010\foo.dll' no file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\LuaEdit 2010\loadall.dll' no file '.\battle.dll' I have also tried creating these files prior to adding them to a solution and still get the same error. Is there some setting I'm missing? It would be great to have an IDE/debugger but it's useless to me if it can't run linked functions.

  • Conditionally Summing the same Column multiple times in a single select statement?

    - by btollett
    I have a single table that shows employee deployments, for various types of deployment, in a given location for each month: ID | Location_ID | Date | NumEmployees | DeploymentType_ID As an example, a few records might be: 1 | L1 | 12/2010 | 7 | 1 (=Permanent) 2 | L1 | 12/2010 | 2 | 2 (=Temp) 3 | L1 | 12/2010 | 1 | 3 (=Support) 4 | L1 | 01/2011 | 4 | 1 5 | L1 | 01/2011 | 2 | 2 6 | L1 | 01/2011 | 1 | 3 7 | L2 | 12/2010 | 6 | 1 8 | L2 | 01/2011 | 6 | 1 9 | L2 | 12/2010 | 3 | 2 What I need to do is sum the various types of people by date, such that the results look something like this: Date | Total Perm | Total Temp | Total Supp 12/2010 | 13 | 5 | 1 01/2011 | 10 | 2 | 1 Currently, I've created a separate query for each deployment type that looks like this: SELECT Date, SUM(NumEmployees) AS "Total Permanent" FROM tblDeployment WHERE DeploymentType_ID=1 GROUP BY Date; We'll call that query qSumPermDeployments. Then, I'm using a couple of joins to combine the queries: SELECT qSumPermDeployments.Date, qSumPermDeployments.["Total Permanent"] AS "Permanent" qSumTempDeployments.["Total Temp"] AS "Temp" qSumSupportDeployments.["Total Support"] AS Support FROM (qSumPermDeployments LEFT JOIN qSumTempDeployments ON qSumPermDeployments.Date = qSumTempDeployments.Date) LEFT JOIN qSumSupportDeployments ON qSumPermDeployments.Date = qSumSupportDeployments.Date; Note that I'm currently constructing that final query under the assumption that a location will only have temp or support employees if they also have permanent employees. Thus, I can create the joins using the permanent employee results as the base table. Given all of the data I currently have, that assumption holds up, but ideally I'd like to move away from that assumption. So finally, my question. Is there a way to simplify this down to a single query or is it best to separate it out into multiple queries - if for no other reason that readability.

  • What could cause these Apache crash errors ?

    - by jacobanderssen
Hello guys. I had a server crash several days ago. I use Cacti to keep stats: at the time when the server crashed, a huge spike from Load 1 to Load 200 occurred, with over 800 processes in the run queue ( from 300 average). Upon checking /var/log/httpd I notice this: * glibc detected /usr/sbin/httpd: double free or corruption (out): 0x00002b8f3142c2f0 ** Followed by alot of these: [Sat Mar 13 19:20:20 2010] [warn] child process 3090 still did not exit, sending a SIGTERM [Sat Mar 13 19:20:20 2010] [warn] child process 3091 still did not exit, sending a SIGTERM Followed by this: ======= Backtrace: ========= /lib64/libc.so.6[0x2b8f1463c2ef] /lib64/libc.so.6(cfree+0x4b)[0x2b8f1463c73b] /usr/lib64/libapr-1.so.0(apr_pool_destroy+0x131)[0x2b8f13f98821] /usr/sbin/httpd[0x2b8f126df47e] /usr/sbin/httpd[0x2b8f126df4ab] /lib64/libpthread.so.0[0x2b8f141b87c0] /etc/httpd/modules/mod_file_cache.so[0x2b8f1cdf00fb] ======= Memory map: ======== And finally a lot of these: [Sat Mar 13 19:20:27 2010] [error] could not make child process 733 exit, attempting to continue anyway [Sat Mar 13 19:20:27 2010] [error] could not make child process 24560 exit, attempting to continue anyway [Sat Mar 13 19:20:27 2010] [error] could not make child process 31384 exit, attempting to continue anyway I am also noticing one or two lines like this: [Mon Mar 15 01:17:26 2010] [notice] child pid 20765 exit signal Segmentation fault (11) Please help me shed some light on this. • How to change the Target URL of EditForm.aspx, DispForm.aspx and NewForm.aspx

    - by Jayant Sharma
Hi All, To changing the URL of ListForms we have very limited options. On Inernet if you search you will lots of article about Customization of List Forms using SharePoint Desinger, but the disadvantage of SharePoint Desinger is, you cannot create wsp of the customization means what ever changes you have done in UAT environment you need to repeat the same at Production. This is the main reason I donot like SharePoint Desinger more. I always prefer to create WSP file and Deployment of WSP file will do all of my work. Now, If you want to change the ListForm URL using Visual Studio, either you have create new List Defintion or Create New Content Type. I found some very good article and want to share.. http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/223431/Custom-SharePoint-List-Forms http://community.bamboosolutions.com/blogs/sharepoint-2010/archive/2011/05/12/sharepoint-2010-cookbook-how-to-create-a-customized-list-edit-form-for-development-in-visual-studio-2010.aspx Whenever you create, either List Defintion or Content type and specify the URL for List Forms it will automatically add ListID and ItemID (No ItemID in case of NewForm.aspx) in the URL as Querystring, so if you want to redirect it or do some logic you can, as you got the ItemID as well as ListID.

  • How to Change System Application Pages (Like AccessDenied.aspx, Signout.aspx etc)

    - by Jayant Sharma
An advantage of SharePoint 2010 over SharePoint 2007 is, we can programatically change the URL of System Application Pages. For Example, It was not very easy to change the URL of AccessDenied.aspx page in SharePoint 2007 but in SharePoint 2010 we can easily change the URL with just few lines of code. For this purpose we have two methods available: GetMappedPage UpdateMappedPage: returns true if the custom application page is successfully mapped; otherwise, false. You can override following pages. Member name Description None AccessDenied Specifies AccessDenied.aspx. Confirmation Specifies Confirmation.aspx. Error Specifies Error.aspx. Login Specifies Login.aspx. RequestAccess Specifies ReqAcc.aspx. Signout Specifies SignOut.aspx. WebDeleted Specifies WebDeleted.aspx. ( http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.sharepoint.administration.spwebapplication.spcustompage.aspx ) So now Its time to implementation, using (SPSite site = new SPSite(http://testserver01)) {   //Get a reference to the web application.   SPWebApplication webApp = site.WebApplication;   webApp.UpdateMappedPage(SPWebApplication.SPCustomPage.AccessDenied, "/_layouts/customPages/CustomAccessDenied.aspx");   webApp.Update(); } Similarly, you can use  SPCustomPage.Confirmation, SPCustomPage.Error, SPCustomPage.Login, SPCustomPage.RequestAccess, SPCustomPage.Signout and SPCustomPage.WebDeleted to override these pages. To  reset the mapping, set the Target value to Null like webApp.UpdateMappedPage(SPWebApplication.SPCustomPage.AccessDenied, null);webApp.Update();One restricted to location in the /_layouts folder. When updating the mapped page, the URL has to start with “/_layouts/”. • Upgrade existing WinForms applications to use the latest RadControls

Upgrading projects to new versions can be a pain, especially when you have to update several assemblies from a single version, as is the case with RadControls for WinForms. Q1 2010 simplifies this process a lot, by giving a couple of ways (one new and one updated) to upgrade existing applications to the latest and greatest version of RadControls for WinForms: By using the new Visual Studio Extensions (VSX), available in VS2005, VS2008 and VS2010 RC; By using the updated Project Upgrade Utility. Here are the steps: Upgrading a classic Windows Forms application to the latest RadControls for WinForms by using the Visual Studio Extensions Install RadControls for WinForms Q1 2010 Open the classic Windows Forms application (VB or C#) Open the Telerik Menu and select RadControls for WinForms --> Convert to Telerik WinForms Application     Select the Telerik controls you plan to use in the application, as well as a theme, and click OK. The VSX package will add the needed assemblies to your project automatically for you.     Replace the standard controls on your form with the respective Telerik controls.     Run the application to see the result. Upgrading an older RadControls application to the latest RadControls for WinForms by using the Visual Studio Extensions Install RadControls for WinForms Q1 2010. Open your current RadControls application (VB or C#), which uses pre-Q1 2010 assembly versions. Open the Telerik Menu and select RadControls for WinForms --> Upgrade Wizard   Choose to either use the online downloader of the latest version, or to use the currently installed version. • Operating systems theory -- using minimum number of semaphores

    - by stackuser
This situation is prone to deadlock of processes in an operating system and I'd like to solve it with the minimum of semaphores. Basically there are three cooperating processes that all read data from the same input device. Each process, when it gets the input device, must read two consecutive data. I want to use mutual exclusion to do this. Semaphores should be used to synchronize: P1: P2: P3: input(a1,a2) input (b1,b2) input(c1,c2) Y=a1+c1 W=b2+c2 Z=a2+b1 Print (X) X=Z-Y+W The declaration and initialization that I think would work here are: semaphore s=1 sa1 = 0, sa2 = 0, sb1 = 0, sb2 = 0, sc1 = 0, sc2 = 0 I'm sure that any kernel programmers that happen on this can knock this out in a minute or 2. Diagram of cooperating Processes and one input device: It seems like P1 and P2 would start something like: wait(s) input (a1/b1, a2/b2) signal(s)
