  • JavaScript: How is "function x() {}" different from "x = function() {}" ?

    - by jleedev
    In the answers to this question, we read that function f() {} defines the name locally, while [var] f = function() {} defines it globally. That makes perfect sense to me, but there's some strange behavior that's different between the two declarations. I made an HTML page with the script onload = function() { alert("hello"); } and it worked as expected. When I changed it to function onload() { alert("hello"); } nothing happened. (Firefox still fired the event, but WebKit, Opera, and Internet Explorer didn't, although frankly I've no idea which is correct.) In both cases (in all browsers), I could verify that both window.onload and onload were set to the function. In both cases, the global object this is set to the window, and I no matter how I write the declaration, the window object is receiving the property just fine. What's going on here? Why does one declaration work differently from the other? Is this a quirk of the JavaScript language, the DOM, or the interaction between the two?

  • MVC for a desktop application, connection a view/controller pair with another one

    - by lcf
    Hello. I've had mostly experience with "server-side" mvc frameworks very popular in different languages like ASP.NET MVC or Zend Framework for php, Spring for Java etc. Some of them are also possible to use for desktop applications development but I never tried that. I fully understand that design patterns should not limit implementation, they should generally provide ideas and common rules that can be differently implemented. Now I'm playing with one of those mvc frameworks for usual Desktop Applications development (it does not have many tutorials or a decent quickstart) and I have some questions regarding to the mvc paradigm. Here is one of them: What are common ways to link different views / controllers? If I click a button, special controller for that button dispatches the event that is generated, does something with the model, changes view state. But what if I need to interact with another view? Like, when I click on a button, it changes a model, but also I need to open another window or change state of another window (hiding a button on another window let's say...), without changing actually the model. What are common ways here to address this? Should my first controller generate an event for the second controller (or second view)? Or should the second controller be handling events from first view? Some links or examples for any languages/frameworks would be really helpful, thanks!

  • Change the value of an existing onclick function

    - by Mark Peach
    I have a page that is pulling in via an iframe a page of html content from a pre-existing content management system, whose content I can not directly change. I want to use jquery to alter some of the links and button locations dynamically. For links within the page I was able to change the href attr values of <a href="/content.asp">more</a> from content.asp to content2.asp using $("a[href^='/content.asp']") .each(function() { this.href = this.href.replace("content.asp", "content2.asp"); }); But the page pulled in also has form buttons that contains javascript onclick functions e.g. <INPUT type="button" value="Add to basket" onClick="document.location='/shopping-basket.asp?mode=add&id_Product=1076';"> I basically want to use jquery to select any such buttons and change the shopping-basket.asp to shopping-basket2.asp How can I select these buttons/onclick functions and change the location string?

  • Redirect based on referer's url

    - by steve
    I am trying to redirect visitors to a site based on their referring url. Here is the script: php $domain='blankds.com'; $referrer=$_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']; echo $referrer; if (preg_match("/$domain/",$referrer)) { header('Location: http://www.blackisgreen.org/page_1.php'); } else { header('Location: http://www.blackisgreen.org/page_2.php'); }; Errors: I get a "Warning: cannot modify header" error because I am echoing $referrer before sending headers. If I remove the echo the script does not work. Any suggestions?

  • TFS: Choose which workspace to add a solution too.

    - by Patricker
    I have a solution which I developed in VS2008 and which I am trying to add to Source Control (TFS 2010, though the issue happened in TFS 2008 as well). I have several TFS workspaces on my computer and I have access to several Team Projects. When I right click the solution in my Solution Explorer and choose the "Add Solution to Source Control" option I am never given an option of choosing which Workspace or which Team Project to add the existing solution too. VS2008 then proceeds to add it to the same team project every time. I have tried selecting an alternate workspace/team project in every window where I can see an option for it but it always adds it back to the same one. I even tried changing the name of my new workspace so that alphabetically it was the first thinking that it might be somehow related to that... no luck. I then tried goign to the Change Source Control window where you can add/remove bindings on a solution/project but that window also defaults to the same Team Project as trying to add the solution directly does... Any help would be greatly appreciated with this, maybe I'm just missing something?

  • Creating and Saving an Excel File

    - by Kris
    I have the following code that creates a new Excel file in my C# code behind. When I attempt to save the file I would like the user to select the location of the save. In Method #1, I can save the file my using the workbook SaveCopyAs without prompting the user for a location. This saves one file to the C:\Temp directory. Method #2 will save the file in my Users\Documents folder, then prompt the user to select the location and save a second copy. How can I eliminate the first copy from saving in the Users\Documents folder? Excel.Application oXL; Excel._Workbook oWB; Excel._Worksheet oSheet; Excel.Range oRng; try { //Start Excel and get Application object. oXL = new Excel.Application(); oXL.Visible = false; //Get a new workbook. oWB = (Excel._Workbook)(oXL.Workbooks.Add(Missing.Value)); oSheet = (Excel._Worksheet)oWB.ActiveSheet; // ***** oSheet.Cells[2, 6] = "Ship To:"; oSheet.get_Range("F2", "F2").Font.Bold = true; oSheet.Cells[2, 7] = sShipToName; oSheet.Cells[3, 7] = sAddress; oSheet.Cells[4, 7] = sCityStateZip; oSheet.Cells[5, 7] = sContactName; oSheet.Cells[6, 7] = sContactPhone; oSheet.Cells[9, 1] = "Shipment No:"; oSheet.get_Range("A9", "A9").Font.Bold = true; oSheet.Cells[9, 2] = sJobNumber; oSheet.Cells[9, 6] = "Courier:"; oSheet.get_Range("F9", "F9").Font.Bold = true; oSheet.Cells[9, 7] = sCarrierName; oSheet.Cells[11, 1] = "Requested Delivery Date:"; oSheet.get_Range("A11", "A11").Font.Bold = true; oSheet.Cells[11, 2] = sRequestDeliveryDate; oSheet.Cells[11, 6] = "Courier Acct No:"; oSheet.get_Range("F11", "F11").Font.Bold = true; oSheet.Cells[11, 7] = sCarrierAcctNum; // ***** Method #1 //oWB.SaveCopyAs(@"C:\Temp\" + sJobNumber +".xls"); Method #2 oXL.SaveWorkspace(sJobNumber + ".xls"); } catch (Exception theException) { String errorMessage; errorMessage = "Error: "; errorMessage = String.Concat(errorMessage, theException.Message); errorMessage = String.Concat(errorMessage, " Line: "); errorMessage = String.Concat(errorMessage, theException.Source); }

  • Trapping messages in .NET

    - by user350632
    How can i trap a Windows system message (like WM_SETTEXT) that was sent by some window (VLC player window in my case)? I've tried to inherit NativeWindow class and override WndProc like this: class VLCFilter : NativeWindow { System.IntPtr iHandle; const int WM_SETTEXT = 0x000C; public VLCFilter() { Process p = Process.GetProcessesByName("vlc")[0]; iHandle = p.MainWindowHandle; } protected override void WndProc(ref Message aMessage) { base.WndProc(ref aMessage); if (aMessage.HWnd != iHandle) return false; if (aMessage.Msg == WM_SETTEXT) { MessageBox.Show("VLC window text changed!"); } } } I have checked with Microsoft Spy++ that WM_SETTEXT message is sent by VLC player but my code doesn't seem to get the work done. I've refered mainly to: http://www.codeproject.com/kb/dotnet/devicevolumemonitor.aspx I'm trying to make this work for some time with no success. What am I doing wrong? What I am not doing? Maybe there is easier way to do this? My initial goal is to catch when VLC player (that could be playing somewhere in the background and is not emmbed in my application) repeats its playback (have noticed that WM_SETTEXT message is sent then and I'm trying to find it out like this).

  • Accessing appropriate array of double arrays in order of last created.

    - by Zach
    I have an array of double arrays, they are within a specified time window (8am-5pm), and are in order of last created over a period of several days. They are all timestamped and as such I have access to all C# DateTime methods. I then have a different iterative function that goes in the same order of the array of double arrays, however it isn't within a specified time window, it's 24/7. I want to access from this iterative function, the appropriate double array from the one within the window. Let's say that it's 4:30PM on DayOfYear 52, I'd like to access the last double array less than or equal to 4:30PM on DayOfYear 52. I'd expect the same double array if the time were 12:30AM on DayOfYear 53. However, if it were 9:00 AM of DayOfYear 53, well then I'd expect it to return something from the DayOfYear 53, less than or equal to 9:00AM. I think you get the idea. So I'm a having a bit of trouble grokking how to do this. Is anyone willing to offer a starting point or how they'd approach it? Edit: It is not a literal double[][], it is exactly as Anthony Pegram says: Dictionary<DateTime, double[]>

  • Using LocationManager from another class than Main

    - by iphonePom
    Hi, i'm new here, i'm new in iphone development, i'm new in Objective-c and i'm new in engligh speaking, so don't hate me :P I'm creating an application that will use the location manager to display the distance between the own position and the positions of a list of shops, like AroundME. Now, i give the locationManager property to my main class and in the .m of that class, precisely in the viewDidLoad method, i make: [locationManager startUpdatingLocation]. It all works fine, but the problem is: i need to know my position in other classes than the main, but i don't think that is a good idea making [locationManager startUpdatingLocation] every time i need it, is not time overhead? The view of my main class is always below the others, so can i retrieve the updated location in my other classes? In what way? Creating another instance of my main class is not useful, i think, but the locationManager, once started, doesn't stop until my main class is released, isn't true? So i think that it is accessible in some way. Thanks for your attention and sorry for my awful english : )

  • Still not understanding SVN Repositories in eclipse

    - by jax
    I am about to import my project into svn but don't want to stuff it up. My structure is like this: Repositories: /var/svn/client_name1/ /var/svn/client_name2/ Project directories under /var/svn/client_name1/ project1/ trunk/ branches/ tags/ project2/ trunk/ branches/ tags/ My Apache config looks like this: <Location /svn> DAV svn SVNParentPath /var/svn SVNListParentPath on AuthType Basic AuthName "My Repository" AuthUserFile /etc/svnpass Require valid-user AuthzSVNAccessFile /etc/svnauth </Location> Now I can access my svn repository http://mysite.com/svn/client_name1/ however, there are no projects displayed here, just a Revision 0 message (is that correct)? I can connect to the repository in eclipse using the same url. If I want to place an existing project into the repository what url do I use? http://mysite.com/svn/client_name1/project1 OR http://mysite.com/svn/client_name1/project1/trunk

  • problem with converting simple code from Winform to silverlight app.

    - by Sara
    Hi. I have this code for window form application and I have been attempting to convert it to a Silverlight application but it does not work!. There is a Textbox and I attached KeyDown event handler to it. when the user press the arrow key ( left or right) while the focus on the textbox, it will write . or -. When it is window form i used e.KeyCode and Keys.Right and its works great but when it is silverlight I used e.Key and key.Right and the program doesn't work good because the arrows do the 2 functions moving and write ./-. How I can work this out in Silverlight? (My English not good) The code ( window form): private void textBox1_KeyDown(object sender, KeyEventArgs e) { if (sender is TextBox) { TextBox textBox = (TextBox)sender; if (e.KeyCode == Keys.Left || e.KeyCode == Keys.Right) { e.Handled = true; char insert; if (e.KeyCode == Keys.Left) { insert = '.'; } else { insert = '-'; } int i = textBox.SelectionStart; textBox.Text = textBox.Text.Insert(i, insert.ToString()); textBox.Select(i + 1, 0); } } } (and Silverlight): private void textBox1_KeyDown(object sender, KeyEventArgs e) { if (sender is TextBox) { TextBox textBox = (TextBox)sender; if (e.Key == Key.Left || e.Key == Key.Right) { e.Handled = true; char insert; if (e.Key == Key.Left) { insert = '.'; } else { insert = '-'; } int i = textBox.SelectionStart; textBox.Text = textBox.Text.Insert(i, insert.ToString()); textBox.Select(i + 1, 0); } } } I don't understand, is there huge different effect between using Keycode/Keys and Key/Key or because something else?

  • Android layouts within layouts, with separate classes handling their input?

    - by Demonofloom
    Hey all, I have created a program in Java that uses Jpanels within Jpanels. One example of this is having a side view containing buttons that change the main view when pressed. The main view also has buttons that can be used to alter itself. I am trying to re-create this on the android. I have my layout set up from an xml, with a side panel containing buttons and the main view. There is another xml that contains what I want in the main view. Now I am struggling to get this separate xml to be displayed in the main view and can’t figure out how I would get the class to handle its own input. I don’t want to paste the code into the main.xml as I want to keep things object orientated and each view needs some custom elements such as different textviews. An example of what I am trying to convert for the android is below:- //The ViewInt class has its own layout ViewInt tempView = new ViewInt(i, mFloorNo); //The viewInt class is then added to the main window. mainWindowPanel.add(tempView); This small bit of code would create a view, add it to the main view and then any input in the main window is handled by that class, but at the same time any input not in this main window is handled by another class (probably the root class). Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks. To clarify: The program has a side panel layout, containing buttons. And a main view layout that is empty. I am trying to set a .xml layout to this main view layout, and have it so that if any buttons are pressed in that main view then a class for that layout will handle it.

  • How combine TabBar + Navigation with XCode

    - by mamcx
    I'm triying to combine a TabBar + Navigation app. I have 5 tab bars, 4 are listing of stuff and drill down to details views. I try to follow this tutorial: http://www.iphonedevforums.com/forum/iphone-sdk-development/124-view-controller-problem.html But always get a blank view. This is what I do, with a clean project: I start with a TabBar template app. I put 5 tab bar buttons. I create a controller like: @interface FirstViewController : UINavigationController { } I put the main window.xib on tree mode & change the selected first view to FirstViewController I select the TabBar Controller in Interface builder, go to TabBar Attributes & change the class to navigation controler. Select the fist view & put the nib name "SecondView" In response, I get a blank screen. I must add that I wanna navigate from the details views, no from the main windows. i.e in the main window tab bar 1 is the list of people. I select a person then wanna navigate to the detail window.

  • Why does this program require MSVCR80.dll and what's the best solution for this kinda problem?

    - by Runner
    #include <gtk/gtk.h> int main( int argc, char *argv[] ) { GtkWidget *window; gtk_init (&argc, &argv); window = gtk_window_new (GTK_WINDOW_TOPLEVEL); gtk_widget_show (window); gtk_main (); return 0; } I tried putting various versions of MSVCR80.dll under the same directory as the generated executable(via cmake),but none matched. Is there a general solution for this kinda problem? UPDATE Some answers recommend install the VS redist,but I'm not sure whether or not it will affect my installed Visual Studio 9, can someone confirm? Manifest file of the executable <assembly xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1" manifestVersion="1.0"> <trustInfo xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v3"> <security> <requestedPrivileges> <requestedExecutionLevel level="asInvoker" uiAccess="false"></requestedExecutionLevel> </requestedPrivileges> </security> </trustInfo> <dependency> <dependentAssembly> <assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.VC90.DebugCRT" version="9.0.21022.8" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b"></assemblyIdentity> </dependentAssembly> </dependency> </assembly> It seems the manifest file says it should use the MSVCR90, why it always reporting missing MSVCR80.dll? FOUND After spending several hours on it,finally I found it's caused by this setting in PATH: D:\MATLAB\R2007b\bin\win32 After removing it all works fine.But why can that setting affect my running executable from using msvcr90 to msvcr80 ???

  • Getting a particular menu item from MainMenu

    - by Garry
    I have a nib (winA.xib) that contains a window. My app delegate contains an NSWindowController subclass called WinAController. WinAController has a property (NSMenu *mainMenu) that I want to point to the MainMenu. I have set it after I instantiate WinAController with this code: WinAController = [[WinAController alloc] initWithWindowNibName:@"WinA"]; WinAController.mainMenu = [NSApp mainMenu]; I have a menu item underneath the "Window" top-level menu item on MainMenu that invokes the [WinAController showWindow] method and displays WinA. I want to toggle the on/off state of this menu item depending on whether WinA is visible or not. WinAController also has another property (NSMenuItem *myMenuItem). How can I get a reference to a sub menu of the "Window" top-level menu item. The title of sub menu item I want to get is "Command". I have tried this: if (mainMenu != nil) { myMenuItem = [mainMenu itemAtIndex:[mainMenu indexOfItemWithTitle:@"Command"]]; } But it doesn't seem to work. Where am I going wrong? Thanks,

But when I try to inject the same JS into the page url via setting the location.href it does not work the right way , rather it replaces the existing page with a new iframe. Here is my code: location.href = "javascript:ifrm = document.createElement('IFRAME');ifrm.style.width = 60+'px';ifrm.style.height = 40+'px';document.body.appendChild(ifrm);";

  • Can I create a two-column layout that fluidly adapts to narrow windows?

    - by Brant Bobby
    I'm trying to design a page that has two columns of content, div#left and div#right. (I know these aren't proper semantic identifiers, but it makes explaining easier) The widths of both columns are fixed. Desired result - Wide viewport When the viewport is too narrow to display both side-by-side, I want #right to be stacked on top of #left, like this: Desired result - narrow viewport My first thought was simply to apply float: left to #left and float: right to #right, but that makes #right attach itself to the right side of the window (which is the proper behavior for float, after all), leaving an empty space. This also leaves a big gap between the columns when the browser window is really wide. Wrong - div#right is not flush with the left side of the viewport Wrong - div#right is not on top of div#left Applying float: left to both divs would result in the wrong one moving to the bottom when the window was too small. I could probably do this with media queries, but IE doesn't support those until version 9. The source order is unimportant, but I need something that works in IE7 minimum. Is this possible to do without resorting to Javascript?

  • Linking error in OMNeT++ using Boost serialization library

    - by astriffe
    I'm very new to OMNeT++ and I'd like to use the serialization-library contained in the boost framework. However, when trying to use it, I get quite many errors such as: Description Resource Path Location Type undefined reference to `boost::archive::archive_exception::~archive_exception()' OmCCN line 36, external location: /home/alexander/UniBE/BT/simulator/boost-compiledLibs /include/boost/serialization/throw_exception.hpp C/C++ Problem . I guess the problem is that I didn't yet link the compiled library in OMNeT. I've had a look at the makefile but any changes there are worthless since it is generated automatically by makemake. Furthermore, trying to access the menu item 'makemake' in project properties OMNeT++ IDE throws an error (The currently displayed page contains invalid values). Can anyone give me a hint concerning what the error could cause or how to link the compiled library correctly? Any hints are very appreciated! cheers alex

  • Java/Python: Integration, problem with looping updating text

    - by Jivings
    Hello! Basically I have a script in Python that grabs the text from an open window using getWindowText() and outputs it to the screen. The python loops so as the text in the window changes, it outputs the changes, so the output of the python will always be up to date with the window text. I'm trying to access this text in my Java program by executing the python script as a process and reading the text it outputs using a buffered reader. For some reason this works fine for the first block of text, but will not read any more after this, it wont read any updates to the text as the python outputs it. Can someone shed some light on this? I'm about to try and use Jython, but I'd really like to know what the problem is here... try { Runtime r = Runtime.getRuntime(); Process p = r.exec("cmd /c getText.py"); BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader( new InputStreamReader(p.getInputStream())); int line; while (true) { line = br.read(); System.out.print((char) line); } } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); }

  • Where does the compiler store methods for C++ classes?

    - by Mashmagar
    This is more a curiosity than anything else... Suppose I have a C++ class Kitty as follows: class Kitty { void Meow() { //Do stuff } } Does the compiler place the code for Meow() in every instance of Kitty? Obviously repeating the same code everywhere requires more memory. But on the other hand, branching to a relative location in nearby memory requires fewer assembly instructions than branching to an absolute location in memory on modern processors, so this is potentially faster. I suppose this is an implementation detail, so different compilers may perform differently. Keep in mind, I'm not considering static or virtual methods here.
