  • Problem using AVAudioRecorder.

    - by tek3
Hi all, I am facing a strange problem with AVAudioRecorder. In my application i need to record audio and play it. I am creating my player as : if(recorder) { if(recorder.recording) [recorder stop]; [recorder release]; recorder = nil; } NSString * filePath = [NSHomeDirectory() stringByAppendingPathComponent: [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Documents/%@.caf",songTitle]]; NSDictionary *recordSettings = [[NSDictionary alloc] initWithObjectsAndKeys: [NSNumber numberWithFloat: 44100.0],AVSampleRateKey, [NSNumber numberWithInt: kAudioFormatAppleIMA4],AVFormatIDKey, [NSNumber numberWithInt: 1], AVNumberOfChannelsKey, [NSNumber numberWithInt: AVAudioQualityMax],AVEncoderAudioQualityKey,nil]; recorder = [[AVAudioRecorder alloc] initWithURL: [NSURL fileURLWithPath:filePath] settings: recordSettings error: nil]; recorder.delegate = self; if ([recorder prepareToRecord] == YES){ [recorder record]; I am releasing and creating player every time i press record button. But the problem is that ,AVAudiorecorder is taking some time before starting to record , and so if i press record button multiple times continuously ,my application freezes for some time. The same code works fine without any problem when headphones are connected to device...there is no delay in recording, and the app doesn't freeze even if i press record button multiple times. Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated. Thanx in advance.

  • iPad app crashes when Youtube player clicked in UIWebView

    - by choonkeat
    I have a iPhone/iPad app (universal binary) with a regular UIWebView that displays webpages on the Internet. When the user presses on a Youtube embed, the iPhone app performs normally -- opening up the video player, when you close it, it returns to the app. However, on the iPad it crashes with Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** -[UIWindow addEventMonitor:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x1219c0' #0 0x30c8e0a0 in __kill () #1 0x30c8e096 in kill () #2 0x30c8e088 in raise () #3 0x30ca2210 in abort () #4 0x32944a22 in __gnu_cxx::__verbose_terminate_handler () #5 0x335657ca in _objc_terminate () #6 0x32942df4 in __cxxabiv1::__terminate () #7 0x32942e48 in std::terminate () #8 0x32942f18 in __cxa_throw () #9 0x335646aa in objc_exception_throw () #10 0x32c9517a in -[NSObject doesNotRecognizeSelector:] () #11 0x32c94b00 in ___forwarding___ () #12 0x32c316d0 in __forwarding_prep_0___ () #13 0x32810492 in -[MPInactivityMonitor initForWindow:inactivityDuration:delegate:] () #14 0x32831dfe in -[MPFullScreenVideoViewController _createInactivityMonitor] () #15 0x328324bc in -[MPFullScreenVideoViewController showOverlayAnimated:] () #16 0x32833612 in -[MPAbstractFullScreenVideoViewController setControlsOverlayVisible:animate:] () #17 0x3281fca4 in -[UIMoviePlayerController setControlsOverlayVisible:disableAutohide:animate:] () #18 0x330bb444 in -[YTMovieView _switchToVideo:] () #19 0x330bb028 in -[YTMovieView willShowForVideo:inList:orVideoID:] () #20 0x04b8d142 in dyld_stub_time () #21 0x04b8b82e in dyld_stub_time () #22 0x32c2616c in -[NSObject performSelector:withObject:withObject:] () #23 0x3152716c in -[UIApplication sendAction:to:from:forEvent:] () #24 0x3152710c in -[UIApplication sendAction:toTarget:fromSender:forEvent:] () #25 0x315270de in -[UIControl sendAction:to:forEvent:] () #26 0x31526e30 in -[UIControl(Internal) _sendActionsForEvents:withEvent:] () #27 0x3152747e in -[UIControl touchesEnded:withEvent:] () #28 0x31525e54 in -[UIWindow _sendTouchesForEvent:] () #29 0x3152579c in -[UIWindow sendEvent:] () #30 0x315213be in -[UIApplication sendEvent:] () #31 0x31520d2a in _UIApplicationHandleEvent () #32 0x30d62b32 in PurpleEventCallback () #33 0x32c23d9c in CFRunLoopRunSpecific () #34 0x32c234e0 in CFRunLoopRunInMode () #35 0x30d620da in GSEventRunModal () #36 0x30d62186 in GSEventRun () #37 0x314d54c8 in -[UIApplication _run] () #38 0x314d39f2 in UIApplicationMain () (I don't even see my app in the stack trace (except for the top level main.m) In iPad Mobile Safari, on the same webpage, the video will play in-place on the webpage.   • SharePoint 2010 HttpModule problem

    - by Chris W
I'm trying to write an HttpModule to run on our SharePoint farm - essentially it will check whether the user is authenticated and if they are it will validate some info against another database and potentially redirect the user to sign a variety of usage agreements. Whenever I enable the module in the web.config I'm finding that SharePoint has issues rendering the page - it's almost like the CSS is not getting loaded as the page is devoid of any styling. As a test I've even tried an empty module - i.e. an empty init block so it's not even hooking up any code to any events and the same issue arises. At this point it's an empty class that just implements IHttpModule so it's not even my dodgy coding causing the issue! The module is in a class library that I've dropped in to the bin folder of the application it needs to run against. In the web.config of the app I've simply added an entry as below: <modules runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests="true"> ... (default stuff ommitted) <add name="SharePointAUP" type="SPModules.SharePointAUP" /> </modules> I must be missing something really obvious here as I've done exactly the same as every sample I've found and yet I'm getting this strange behaviour. Is there something extra I need to do to get SharePoint to play nice with a custom module?

  • Putting a MovieMaterial behind a DAE model in Papervision3D

    - by didibus
Hi, I'm doing a project using FLARManager augmented reality and the Papervision3D library. Unfortunately, Papervision is giving me a lot of problems. My scene3D contains a DAE model and a plane. The plane has a MovieMaterial and is playing a video through FLVPlayback. The DAE and the plane are both inside the same DisplayObject3D container. FLARManager transforms the container so that everything appears through the angle of the marker. My DAE model is a TV, the screen of the TV is transparent. I want to have my Plane inside of my DAE model, so that the Movie playing on the plane material appears to be what is playing on the TV. The problem is that, even if the plane has a lower Z index then the TV, it always appears in front of the TV. How do I have my plane and its MovieMaterial appear behind the TV, so that some of its corners are cut out by the TV and the part of the TV thats transparent let me see the Movie? If its impossible, anyone has an idea of how I could get the desired effect of having a movie play on the screen of my DAE tv model? Thank You.

  • Notification CeSetUserNotificationEx with custom sound

    - by inTagger
Hail all! I want to display notification and play custom sound on my Windows Mobile 5/6 device. I have tried something like that, but my custom sound does not play, though message is displayed with standart sound. If i edit Wave key in [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications{15F11F90-8A5F-454c-89FC-BA9B7AAB0CAD}] to sound file i need then it plays okay. But why there are flag NotificationAction.Sound and property UserNotification.Sound? It doesn't work. Also Vibration and Led don't work, if i use such flags. • Android Scoreloop, OpenFeint etc al

    - by theblitz
I am looking to use one of the social networks in my Android program. Most important for me is the ability to build a continuous leadership board in which players move up and down depending their wins/loses to others. The idea is for players to challenge others head-to-head. The winner gains points and the loser loses points. Equally important, I want this feature to include the possibility to "charge" the player game coins. Scoreloop includes the possibility of challenges but they are there in order to win coins off other players. In other words, they are the means to the end. In my case I need it to be the other way around. The "ends" is to be higher in the leadership board and the "means" are to play others with coins. Scoreloop do have a continuos leadership board but it is not accessible from the program. I tried looking at OpenFeint but their site is a real mess. It is impossible to understand from there exactly what is and isn't available. I signed up and tried to add my program. I ended up adding it four times and cannot delete it!

  • Cocos2D Director Pause/Resume Issue

    - by Aditya
    I am trying to play a .gif animation in cocos2D. For this i am using the library glgif. Now, to display the animation i am pausing the Director, adding a subview to show the animation and after the animation is done i am resuming the Director. However, I am not able to resume the state of the Director and it shows blank. So I tried this without pausing and resuming this Director and it still did not work.I also tried detaching the director before tha animation and adding it back afterwards and even that did not work. So is there a way to pause/suspend the Director in the application and properly restore is back? Thanks. Code sample: [[Director sharedDirector] pause]; [[Director sharedDirector] detach]; AppDelegate *del = [[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; [del.window addSubview:del.viewController.view]; [del.window makeKeyAndVisible]; // this is code to call glgif class and start anim. //code to resume the director AppDelegate *del = [[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; [[Director sharedDirector] resume]; [[Director sharedDirector] attachInView:del.window]; MScene *m = [MScene node]; [[Director sharedDirector] replaceScene:m];

  • WPF: Animation Only Runs Once

    - by Phil Sandler
Very basic (I think) animation question. My animation only runs the first time "MyProp" gets set to false. If it gets set a second time, the animation doesn't run. I know my data trigger is getting hit, as the sound DOES play. The effect I want is for the animation to run, then reset the target property back to what it was before the animation occurred (thus the FillBehavior=Stop). Do I need to reset the animation after it plays? <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding MyProp}" Value="False"> <DataTrigger.EnterActions> <SoundPlayerAction Source="/Resources/Sounds/Ding.wav"/> <BeginStoryboard> <Storyboard BeginTime="00:00:00" Duration="0:0:2" Storyboard.TargetProperty="(Background).(SolidColorBrush.Color)"> <ColorAnimation FillBehavior="Stop" From="Black" To="Red" Duration="0:0:0.5" AutoReverse="True"/> </Storyboard> </BeginStoryboard> </DataTrigger.EnterActions> </DataTrigger>

  • SoundManager2 has irregular latency

    - by Stefan Monov
I'm playing some notes at regular intervals. Each one is delayed by a random number of milliseconds, creating a jarring irregular effect. How do I fix it? Note: I'm OK with some latency, just as long as it's consistent. Answers of the type "implement your own small SoundManager2 replacement, optimized for timing-sensitive playback" are OK, if you know how to do that :) but I'm trying to avoid rewriting my whole app in flash for now. For an example of app with zero audible latency see the flash-based ToneMatrix. Testcase (see it here live or get it in an zip): <head> <title></title> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.schillmania.com/projects/soundmanager2/script/soundmanager2.js"> </script> <script type="text/javascript"> soundManager.url = '.' soundManager.flashVersion = 9 soundManager.useHighPerformance = true soundManager.useFastPolling = true soundManager.autoLoad = true function recur(func, delay) { window.setTimeout(function() { recur(func, delay); func(); }, delay) } soundManager.onload = function() { var sound = soundManager.createSound("test", "test.mp3") recur(function() { sound.play() }, 300) } </script> </head> <body> </body> </html>

  • Python + QT + Gstreamer

    - by Ptterb
Hi everyone, I'm working with PyQt and trying to get video from a webcam to play within a QT widget. I've found tutorials for C and Qt, and for python and gtk, but NOTHING for this combo of pyQt and gstreamer. Anybody get this working? This plays the video fine, but in a separate window: self.gcam = gst.parse_launch('v4l2src device=/dev/video0 ! autovideosink') self.gcam.set_state(gst.STATE_PLAYING) what I need is to get the overlay working so it's displayed within a widget on my GUI. Thanks, Gurus of the internet! ok, so I've gotten a lot farther, but still in need of some help. I'm actually writing this for Maemo, but the following code works fine on my linux laptop: class Vid: def __init__(self, windowId): self.player = gst.Pipeline("player") self.source = gst.element_factory_make("v4l2src", "vsource") self.sink = gst.element_factory_make("autovideosink", "outsink") self.source.set_property("device", "/dev/video0") self.scaler = gst.element_factory_make("videoscale", "vscale") self.window_id = None self.windowId = windowId self.player.add(self.source, self.scaler, self.sink) gst.element_link_many(self.source,self.scaler, self.sink) bus = self.player.get_bus() bus.add_signal_watch() bus.enable_sync_message_emission() bus.connect("message", self.on_message) bus.connect("sync-message::element", self.on_sync_message) def on_message(self, bus, message): t = message.type if t == gst.MESSAGE_EOS: self.player.set_state(gst.STATE_NULL) elif t == gst.MESSAGE_ERROR: err, debug = message.parse_error() print "Error: %s" % err, debug self.player.set_state(gst.STATE_NULL) def on_sync_message(self, bus, message): if message.structure is None: return message_name = message.structure.get_name() if message_name == "prepare-xwindow-id": win_id = self.windowId assert win_id imagesink = message.src imagesink.set_property("force-aspect-ratio", True) imagesink.set_xwindow_id(win_id) def startPrev(self): self.player.set_state(gst.STATE_PLAYING) print "should be playing" vidStream = Vid(wId) vidStream.startPrev() where wId is the window id of the widget im trying to get to display the output in. When I run this on the N900, the screen goes black and blinks. Any ideas? I'm dying here!

  • DirectX Desktop

    - by Jonathan
Hi. I'd like to make an animated desktop background for Windows 7 using DirectX. I'm using C#, SlimDX and a couple of P/Invoke imports of Windows API functions. I'm not brilliant with native Windows programming, but I've had a poke around online and I believe what I need to do is either: 1) Find the handle of the window containing the dekstop wallpaper, hook it up to a DirectX device and draw into it. 2) Make a new output window, and insert it above the desktop wallpaper but below the desktop icons. I've tried both these, but neither seems to work. If I navigate the Window heirarchy starting from the handle returned by GetDesktopWindow(), I can go Desktop - WorkerW - SHELLDLL_DefView - SysListView32. If I hook up a DirectX device to this handle, I can draw over the entire desktop, but it also covers the icons. If I create a Windows form, set its parent to SHELLDLL_DefView using SetParent() and then use SetWindowPos to play with its Z-order I can only seem to get it to go either behind the desktop wallpaper or in front of the desktop + icons. It looks as though the desktop wallpaper is background to the folder view containing the icons, and therefore what I am trying to do cannot work. The only solution then would be to not use the desktop for icons, or to find some alternative, e.g. overwriting the desktop then overlaying a transparent window containing a view of the contents of some folder. Does anyone have any idea of what I should be doing, or even whether what I want to do is possible? It seems you can draw to the desktop background using the GDI (as I believe the wxSnow program does), and I've seen something similar to what I want done by VLC Media Player under Windows XP with its DirectX wallpaper mode (interestingly, I can't seem to get this option enabled on my system). Thanks!

  • ASP MVC Ajax Controller pattern?

    - by Kevin Won
My MVC app tends to have a lot of ajax calls (via JQuery.get()). It's sort of bugging me that my controller is littered with many tiny methods that get called via ajax. It seems to me to be sort of breaking the MVC pattern a bit--the controller is now being more of a data access component then a URI router. I refactored so that I have my 'true' controller for a page just performing standard routing responses (returing ActionResponse objects). So a call to /home/ will obviously kick up the HomeController class that will respond in the canonical controller fashion by returning a plain-jane View. I then moved my ajax stuff into a new controller class whose name I'm prefacing with 'Ajax'. So, for example, my page might have three different sections of functionality (say shopping cart or user account). I have an ajax controller for each of these (AjaxCartController, AjaxAccountController). There is really nothing different about moving the ajax call stuff into its own class--it's just to keep things cleaner. on client side obviously the JQuery would then use this new controller thusly: //jquery pseudocode call to specific controller that just handles ajax calls $.get('AjaxAccount/Details'.... (1) is there a better pattern in MVC for responding to ajax calls? (2) It seems to me that the MVC model is a bit leaky when it comes to ajax--it's not really 'controlling' stuff. It just happens to be the best and least painful way of handling ajax calls (or am I ignorant)? In other words, the 'Controller' abstraction doesn't seem to play nice with Ajax (at least from a patterns perspective). Is there something I'm missing?

  • Choosing a Java Web Framework now?

    - by hbagchi
we are in the planning stage of migrating a large website which is built on a custom developed mvc framework to a java based web framework which provides built-in support for ajax, rich media content, mashup, templates based layout, validation, maximum html/java code separation. Grails looked like a good choice, however, we do not want to use a scripting language. We want to continue using java. Template based layout is a primary concern as we intend to use this web application with multiple web sites with similar functionality but radically different look and feel. Is portal based solution a good fit to this problem? Any insights on using "Spring Roo" or "Play" will be very helpful. I did find similar posts like this, but it is more than a year old. Things have surely changed in the mean time! EDIT 1: Thanks for the great answers! This site is turning to be the best single source for in-the-trenches programmer info. However, I was expecting more info on using a portal-cms duo. Jahia looks goods. Anything similar?

  • TFS Disk Structure - and "Add new folder" vs "Add solution"

    - by NealWalters
Our organization recently got TFS 2008 set up ready for our use. I have a practice TeamProject available to play with. To simplify slightly, we previous organized our code on disk like this: -EC - Main - Database - someScript1.sql - someScript2.sql - Documents - ReleaseNotes_V1.doc - Source - Common - Company.EC.Common.Biztalk.Artifacts [folder] - Company.EC.Common.BizTalk.Components [folder] - Company.EC.Common.Biztalk.Deployment [folder] - Company.EC.BookTransfer.BizTalk.sln - BookTransfer - Company.EC.BookTransfer.BizTalk.Artifacts [folder] - Company.EC.BookTransfer.BizTalk.Components [folder] - Company.EC.BookTransfer.BizTalk.Components.UnitTest [folder] - Company.EC.BookTransfer.BizTalk.Deployment [folder] - Company.EC.BookTransfer.BizTalk.sln I'm trying to decide, do I want to check in the entire c:\EC directory? Or do I want to open each solution and checkin. What are the pros and cons of each? It seems like by doing the "Add Files/Folder" option, I could check in everything at once and it would match the disk structure. It also looks like that if I check in each solution separately, that creates another working folder in my Workspace. I think if I check in by "add files/folder", I will have one workspace and that would be better. But most of the books and samples I see talk about checking in projects and solutions. P.S. I know I need to add more to my disk structure in accordance with the Branch/Merge guidelines, but that is not the question I'm asking here. Thanks, Neal Walters

  • Creating a dynamic linq query

    - by Bas
I have the following query: from p in dataContext.Repository<IPerson>() join spp1 in dataContext.Repository<ISportsPerPerson>() on p.Id equals spp1.PersonId join s1 in dataContext.Repository<ISports>() on spp1.SportsId equals s1.Id join spp2 in dataContext.Repository<ISportsPerPerson>() on p.Id equals spp2.PersonId join s2 in dataContext.Repository<ISports>() on spp2.SportsId equals s2.Id where s1.Name == "Soccer" && s2.Name == "Tennis" select new { p.Id }; It selects all the person who play Soccer and Tennis. On runtime the user can select other tags to add to the query, for instance: "Hockey". now my question is, how could I dynamically add "Hockey" to the query? If "Hockey" is added to the query, it would look like this: from p in dataContext.Repository<IPerson>() join spp1 in dataContext.Repository<ISportsPerPerson>() on p.Id equals spp1.PersonId join s1 in dataContext.Repository<ISports>() on spp1.SportsId equals s1.Id join spp2 in dataContext.Repository<ISportsPerPerson>() on p.Id equals spp2.PersonId join s2 in dataContext.Repository<ISports>() on spp2.SportsId equals s2.Id join spp3 in dataContext.Repository<ISportsPerPerson>() on p.Id equals spp3.PersonId join s3 in dataContext.Repository<ISports>() on spp3.SportsId equals s3.Id where s1.Name == "Soccer" && s2.Name == "Tennis" && s3.Name == "Hockey" select new { p.Id }; It would be preferable if the query is build up dynamically like: private void queryTagBuilder(List<string> tags) { IDataContext dataContext = new LinqToSqlContext(new L2S.DataContext()); foreach(string tag in tags) { //Build the query? } } Anyone has an idea on how to set this up correctly? Thanks in advance!

Hi- I'm stumped on this, and I'm really hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I'm currently capturing video in Windows Mobile and encoding it using the WMV 9 DMO (CLSID_CWMV9EncMediaObject). That all works well enough, but the output video's bitrate is too high, resulting in a video file that's much too large for my needs. Ultimately, my goal is to mimic the video settings that Microsoft's Camera Capture Dialog outputs in the "messaging" quality mode (64kbps) from my C++ code. Currently, my code's outputting a WMV file with a bitrate of 352kbps. The only example I could find of specifying the capture bitrate with a WMV9 DMO was this. The idea in that code was basically to use a propertybag to write a bitrate to a property of the DMO. Update: In windows mobile, the closest codec property I can find that seems to equate to the bitrate is "g_wszWMVCVBRQuality". Microsoft's documentation of this property is extremely confusing to me: It basically seems to say that a higher number equates to a higher quality, but it gives absolutely no explanation of the specifics for each number. When I attempt to set this property to value like "1" via a propertybag for the WMV9 DMO, I run into a -2147467259 (unknown) error. To summarize: What is the basic strategy to specify the bitrate/quality of a video being captured via directshow (wmv9) on a windows mobile platform? I've heard (or wondered about) the following methods: Use the propertybag to change the encoder DMO's property that corresponds to bitrate/quality (currently failing) Create your own custom transcoder/encoder to specify it. This seems unnecessary since the WMV encoder works well enough- it's just at too high a bitrate. The VIDEOINFOHEADER has a bitrate property, but I suspect that specifying new settings here will do nothing to alter the actual encoding process since I wouldn't think file attributes would come into play until after the encoding. Any suggestions? PS: I would post specific source code, but at this point it may confuse more than it helps since I'm floundering so much on how to do this. At this point, I'm just trying to validate the general strategy. THANKS!

  • How do I securely authenticate the calling assembly of a WCF service method?

    - by Tim
The current situation is as follows: We have an production .net 3.5 WCF service, used by several applications throughout the organization, over wsHttpBinding or netTcpBinding. User authentication is being done on the Transport level, using Windows integrated security. This service has a method Foo(string parameter), which can only be called by members of given AD groups. The string parameter is obligatory. A new client application has come into play (.net 3.5, C# console app), which eliminates the necessity of the string parameter. However, only calls from this particular application should be allowed to omit the string parameter. The identity of the caller of the client application should still be known by the server because the AD group limitation still applies (ruling out impersonation on the client side). I found a way to pass on the "evidence" of the calling (strong-named) assembly in the message headers, but this method is clearly not secure because the "evidence" can easily be spoofed. Also, CAS (code access security) seems like a possible solution, but I can't seem to figure out how to make use of CAS in this particular scenario. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to solve this issue? Edit: I found another thread on this subject; apparently the conclusion there is that it is simply impossible to implement in a secure fashion.

  • Does a silverlight video player always need source address in URL format?

    - by Manish
I have seen on many sites the silverlight video player. I noticed that all of them took a URL as the source of the video file. Can a silverlight player play a video file kept locally? I mean a simple HTML file kept in a folder with the xap (say VideoPlayer.xap) and the video (say ABC.avi) file. The html file would contain an object tag. For example: <object height="240" width="500" type="application/x-silverlight-2" data="data:application/x-silverlight,"> <param value="VideoPlayer.xap" name="source"> <param value="onSilverlightError" name="onerror"> <param value="white" name="background"> <param value="cc=true,markers=true,markerpath=markers_movie21.xml,m=ABC.avi" name="initParams"> <a style="text-decoration: none;" href="http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=115261"> <img style="border-style: none;" alt="Get Microsoft Silverlight" src="http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=108181"> </a> </object>

  • In listview,Viewstub cannot be found after the previous one is inflate

    - by user2958132
I am using some list item layout and in the item layout, there is a Viewstub where I want to put some image in.I don't have the source of list item layout and just know there are some TextViews and ViewStubs in it. My purpose is to find the ViewStub first and set my personal layout and play with it. However, some of the ViewStub cannot be found. public class TJAdapter extends CursorAdapter { .... public void bindView(View view, Context context, Cursor cursor) { ViewStub contentstub = (ViewStub)item.findViewById(R.id.content_stub); if (contentstub == null){ LOG.error("TJ,contentstub is null"); } else { LOG.error("TJ,contentstub is not null"); contentstub.setLayoutResource(R.layout.icon_image); View iconImage = contentstub.inflate(); } .... } public View newView(Context context, Cursor cursor, ViewGroup parent) { final View view = mInflater.inflate(R.layout.list_item, parent, false); bindView(view, context, cursor); } And the log output is like this: TJ,bindView is called TJ,contentstub is not null TJ,bindView is called TJ,contentstub is null TJ,bindView is called TJ,contentstub is not null TJ,bindView is called TJ,contentstub is not null TJ,bindView is called TJ,contentstub is null TJ,bindView is called TJ,contentstub is not null I spent a lot of time on it and have no idea why this happens. Can some body help?

  • Things one needs to know while writing a game engine

    - by Joe Barr
I have been dabbling in game development as a hobby for a while now, and I cannot seam to quite get my games to sparkle at least a bit with some graphics. I have decided to write a simple test game engine that only focuses on the representation of graphics - shapes, textures and surfaces. While I have a few very simple game engines designed for my own games under my belt, I want to create a game engine that I can use to display and play with graphics. I'm going to do this in C++. Since this is my first time with a major engine, the engine in not going to focus on 3D graphics, it's going to be a mixture of isometric and 2D graphics. My previous engines have incorporated (been able to draw) or focused on simple flat (almost 2D) non impressive graphic designs and representations of: the player NPCs objects walls and surfaces textures Also, I had some basic AI and sometimes even sound. They also saved and loaded games. They didn't have a map editor or a level editor. Is this going to be a problem in the future? At this time I have to point out that some of my games didn't get finished because I was to lazy to write the few last levels. My question at this point would be: What are some things one should know if one wants write (develope) a better graphical game engine with all it's functions.

  • WPF Storyboard delay in playing wma files

    - by Rita
I'm a complete beginner in WPF and have an app that uses StoryBoard to play a sound. public void PlaySound() { MediaElement m = (MediaElement)audio.FindName("MySound.wma"); m.IsMuted = false; FrameworkElement audioKey = (FrameworkElement)keys.FindName("MySound"); Storyboard s = (Storyboard)audioKey.FindResource("MySound.wma"); s.Begin(audioKey); } <Storyboard x:Key="MySound.wma"> <MediaTimeline d:DesignTimeNaturalDuration="1.615" BeginTime="00:00:00" Storyboard.TargetName="MySound.wma" Source="Audio\MySound.wma"/> </Storyboard> I have a horrible lag and sometimes it takes good 10 seconds for the sound to be played. I suspect this has something to do with the fact that no matter how long I wait - The sound doesn't get played until after I leave the function. I don't understand it. I call Begin, and nothing happens. Is there a way to replace this method, or StoryBoard object with something that plays instantly and without a lag?

  • UITextView - text shifts out of view when editing

    - by Jeff
I have a tableHeaderView with a UITextView in it. The view loads from a nib. The UITextView does not have any scrolling turned on. The reason I am using it is simply that it wraps text over two lines. I gave it just enough room to fit two lines of text. The data that I prepopulate works just fine, and is aligned in the center vertically whether it is two or one line. The problem is that when I edit the cell via the UI, the text shifts up to the point that the top half of it is cut off. When exiting editing, it stays this way. Not sure I have any relevant code to show, but hopefully the explanation makes sense. I can't seem to find anyone else having this issue and I cannot imagine what it could be. I've played around with turning scrolling on and off, toying with the size of the field, and everything else I could play with to no avail. Thanks Jeff

  • Detecting ClearType-optimized fonts

    - by Josh Kelley
Question: Is there a way to check if a given font is one of Microsoft's ClearType-optimized fonts? I guess I could simply hard-code the list of font names, since it's a relatively short list, but that seems a bit ugly. Would the font names be the same regardless of Windows' locale and language settings? Background: PuTTY looks really ugly with bold, ClearType-enabled, Consolas text. I decided to play around with the source and see if I could figure out the problem, and I think I tracked it down to the following (abbreviated) code: font_height = cfg.font.height; if (font_height > 0) { font_height = -MulDiv(font_height, GetDeviceCaps(hdc, LOGPIXELSY), 72); } } font_width = 0; #define f(i,c,w,u) \ fonts[i] = CreateFont (font_height, font_width, 0, 0, w, FALSE, u, FALSE, \ c, OUT_DEFAULT_PRECIS, \ CLIP_DEFAULT_PRECIS, FONT_QUALITY(cfg.font_quality), \ FIXED_PITCH | FF_DONTCARE, cfg.font.name) f(FONT_NORMAL, cfg.font.charset, fw_dontcare, FALSE); SelectObject(hdc, fonts[FONT_NORMAL]); GetTextMetrics(hdc, &tm); font_height = tm.tmHeight; font_width = tm.tmAveCharWidth; f(FONT_BOLD, cfg.font.charset, fw_bold, FALSE); The intent is to pick a bold font that fits the same dimensions as the normal font. I'm assuming that PuTTY's Consolas text looks ugly because, since Consolas is so heavily optimized to be layed out on specific pixel boundaries, trying to shoehorn it into arbitrary dimensions produces bad results. So it seems like an appropriate fix would be to detect ClearType-optimized fonts and try and create the bold versions of those fonts using the same width and height as the initial CreateFont call.

  • Code Golf: Connect 4

    - by Matthieu M.
If you don't know the Connect 4 game, follow the link :) I used to play it a lot when I was a child. At least until my little sister got bored with me winning... Anyway I was reading the Code Golf: Tic Tac Toe the other day and I thought that solving the Tic Tac Toe problem was simpler than solving the Connect 4... and wondered how much this would reflect on the number of characters a solution would yield. I thus propose a similar challenge: Find the winner The grid is given under the form of a string meant to passed as a parameter to a function. The goal of the code golf is to write the body of the function, the parameter will be b, of string type The image in the wikipedia article leads to the following representation: "....... ..RY... ..YYYR. ..RRYY. ..RYRY. .YRRRYR" (6 rows of 7 elements) but is obviously incomplete (Yellow has not won yet) There is a winner in the grid passed, no need to do error checking Remember that it might not be exactly 4 The expected output is the letter representing the winner (either R or Y) I expect perl mongers to produce the most unreadable script (along with Ook and whitespace, of course), but I am most interested in reading innovative solutions. I must admit the magic square solution for Tic Tac Toe was my personal fav and I wonder if there is a way to build a similar one with this. Well, happy Easter weekend :) Now I just have a few days to come up with a solution of my own!

  • IIS 7.5 refuses to load 64-bit assembly - possible CAS problem?

    - by Rune
Hi, I just downloaded the Orchard CMS, opened it up in VS2008 and hit F5: Everything runs fine. I then created a website in IIS 7.5 and pointed it to the web project's directory and set up permissions correctly (I hope). I downloaded the 64-bit version System.Data.SQLite as suggested here: Orchard Work Item 14798 and here: SO: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Data.SQLite'. The site runs in Full Trust. When I point my browser to the site running through IIS I get Could not load file or assembly 'System.Data.SQLite, Version=1.0.65.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=db937bc2d44ff139' or one of its dependencies. Failed to grant minimum permission requests. I don't know much about Code Access Security (if that is even what's at play here), so I am at a loss here. What am I doing wrong / not understanding / not seeing? How do I provide appropriate permissions and to whom / what? Is there any hope of ever deploying this application to a hoster where I am only allowed to run in Medium Trust? Any help, pointers or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. NOTE: the question is not why this initially worked when run through Cassini. The answer to that question is contained in the answer to the SO question referenced above.
