  • jQuery keyup() illegal characters

    - by FFish
    I have a field and want to prevent some illegal characters while showing the user as he types. How can I do this in follow example? $('input').bind("change keyup", function() { var val = $(this).attr("value"); /* if (val --contains-- '"') { $(this).css("background", "red"); val = val.replace('"', ""); $(this).attr("value", val) } */ $("p").html(val); }); EDIT: I should put the illegal characters in an array var vowels = new Array('"', "<", ">", "&");

  • problems with async jquery and loops

    - by Seth Vargo
    I am so confused. I am trying to append portals to a page by looping through an array and calling a method I wrote called addModule(). The method gets called the right number of times (checked via an alert statement), in the correct order, but only one or two of the portals actually populate. I have a feeling its something with the loop and async, but it's easier explained with the code: moduleList = [['weather','test'],['test']]; for(i in moduleList) { $('#content').append(''); for(j in moduleList[i]) { addModule(i,moduleList[i][j]); //column,name } } function addModule(column,name) { alert('adding module ' + name); $.get('/modules/' + name.replace(' ','-') + '.php',function(data){ $('#'+column).append(data); }); } for each array in the main array, I append a new column, since that's what each sub-array is - a column of portals. Then I loop through that sub array and call addModule on that column and the name of that module (which works correctly). Something buggy happens in my addModule method that it only adds the first and last modules, or sometimes a middle one, or sometimes none at all... im so confused!

  • jQuery AJAX chained calls + Celery in Django

    - by user1029968
    Currently clicking one of the links in my application, triggers AJAX call (GET) that - if succeeds - triggers the second one and this second one - if succeeds - calls the third one. This way user can be informed which part of process started when clicking the link is currently ongoing. So in the template file in Django project, click callback body for link mentioned looks like below: $("#the-link").click(function(item)) { // CALL 1 $.ajax({ url: {% url ajax_call_1 %}, data: { // something } }) .done(function(call1Result) { // CALL 2 $.ajax({ url: {% url ajax_call_1 %}, data: { // call1Result passed here to CALL 2 } }) .done(function(call2Result) { // CALL 3 $.ajax({ url: {%url ajax_call_3 %}, data: { // call2Result passed here to CALL 3 } }) .done(function(call3Result) { // expected result if everything went fine console.log("wow, it worked!"); console.log(call3Result); }) .fail(function(errorObject) { console.log("call3 failed"); console.log(errorObject); } }) .fail(function(errorObject)) { console.log("call2 failed"); console.log(errorObject); } }) .fail(function(errorObject) { console.log("call1 failed"); console.log(errorObject); }); }); This works fine for me. The thing is, I'd like to prevent interrupting the following calls if the user closes the browser and the calls are not finished (as it will take some time to finish all three), as there is some additional logic in Django view functions called in each GET request. For example, if user clicks the link and closes the browser during CALL 1, is it possible to somehow go on with the following CALL 2 and CALL 3? I know that normally I'd be able to use Celery Task to process the function but is it still possible here with the chained calls mentioned? Any help is much appreciated!

  • Sliding & hiding multiple panels in jQuery.

    - by lloydphillips
    I have a table with multiple rows in each row is a select list and based on the selection (when the onchange event is fired) panels appear containing additional data below the row.I currently have code like this: var allPnls = '.inv-dtl-comnts-add,.inv-dtl-comnts-update'; $(document).ready(function(){ hideAll(); //select action change $(".inv-dtl-ddlaction").change(onSelectChange); $(".btn-cancel").click(function(event){ slideAll(); $(".inv-dtl-ddlaction").val('[Select an Action]'); return false; }); }); function onSelectChange(event){ //find out which select item was clicked switch($(this).val()) { case 'View/Add Comment': $(this).closest(".row").children(allPnls).slideUp("fast", function(){ $(this).closest(".row").children(".inv-dtl-comnts-add").slideToggle("fast"); }); break; case 'Change Status': $(this).closest(".row").children(allPnls).slideUp("fast", function(){ $(this).closest(".row").children(".inv-dtl-comnts-update").slideToggle("fast"); }); break; default: //code to be executed if n is different from case 1 and 2 } } function hideAll(){ $(allPnls).hide(); } function slideAll(){ $(allPnls).slideUp("fast"); } So I'm hiding all the panels when the page loads and if a panel is already open I want to slide it shut before reopening the new panel. This works with the postback. With just one panel in the selection it worked great but with two panels the sliding up happens twice (it seems to slide down unopened panels before sliding them back up again). How can I adjust this so that I can get all panels listed in the variable allPnls to slide shut ONLY if they are already open? Is there a better way of sliding the panels shut and then having a callback to have the slideToggle work? Lloyd

    - by I-M-JM
    Hi I have 2 radio button (i.e., <input type="radio">) with values "yes","no" Now, I need to show a 2 other fields when someone selects "yes" I understand that I need to place them in <div>, but when someone selects "yes", then div should show, with some highlight I need to achieve these 2 things (that I guess): showing up the div and highlighting it for some time (for user attention). <input type="radio" id="dl" value="YES" />Yes <input type="radio" id="dl" value="NO" checked />No <div id="dlyes"><label>Number</label><input type="text" id="dlno" /></div> Does anyone know how to achieve this? Thanks

  • Making span clickable after prepend in jQuery

    - by Saif Bechan
    I have a DIV where some code is presented. When I hover on this DIV I want to present a button that toggles the comments inside the code block. So far I have this: $('.code-block').hover( function(){ $(this).prepend('<span class="code-block-control">toggle comments</span>'); }, function(){ $('.code-block-control',this).remove(); } ); $('.code-block-control').click( function(){ $('.comment').toggle(); } ); The span is presented when I hover over the code block. But when I click the span that is created nothing happens. Even if I change the click function to a simple alert nothing happens. Anyone have any idea on how to fix this.

  • Stuck on conditionally enable or disable input with JQuery

    - by dmr
    I am attempting to conditionally enable or disable HTML input based on the value of a variable. The "disable" part is working well, but the "enable" isn't, and I can't figure out why. The code: <--if variable is true...--> <div id="disabledSearch" class="searchBox disabled"> <script type="text/javascript"> $('#disabledSearch :input').attr('disabled', true); </script> <--if variable is false--> <div id="enabledSearch" class="searchBox"> <script type="text/javascript"> //This line isn't working: $('#enabledSearch :input').removeAttr('disabled'); </script>

  • jquery image fading with tabs

    - by StealthRT
    Hey all, i am trying my best to figure out how to go about doing this: I have 2 tabs. When the page loads tab1 is selected automatically. This shows the tab as 1.0 transparency while tab2 stays at 0.7. Once the user clicks on tab2, tab1 goes to 0.7 transparency and tab2 goes to 1.0. However, i can not seem to get it to do that! Here is my code: <script type="text/javascript"> function checkTab(theTab) { $('#tab1').fadeTo(250, 0.70); $('#tab2').fadeTo(250, 0.70); if ($("#tabActive").val() == theTab) { $(theTab).fadeTo(250, 1); } } $(document).ready(function() { $('#tab1').hover(function() {$(this).fadeTo(250, 1)}, function() {checkTab('#tab1')}); $('#tab2').hover(function() {$(this).fadeTo(250, 1)}, function() {checkTab('#tab2')}); $('#tab2').fadeTo(250, 0.70); $('#tabActive').val('tab1'); }); </script> <li class="stats"><img src="images/Stats.png" name="nav1" width="70" height="52" id="tab1" onclick="$('#tabActive').val('tab1');" /></li> <li class="cal"><img src="images/cal.png" name="nav1" width="70" height="52" id="tab2" onclick="$('#tabActive').val('tab2');" /></li> <input name="tabActive" id="tabActive" type="text" /> Any help would be great! :) David

  • jquery plugin caroufredsel hide next/prev buttons until mouseover carousel

    - by John Magnolia
    I am trying to make the buttons hide by default and they only become visible when the mouse is over. Although I am having problems where the carousel core code seems to be adding display block even if I set display none in the CSS. var $slides = $("#slides"); $slides.find('ul.banners').eq(0).carouFredSel({ height: 360, items: { visible: 1 }, scroll: { easing: "easeInOutSine", duration: 1200 }, auto: { delay: 1000 }, prev: { button: $slides.find('.prev'), items: 1 }, next:{ button: $slides.find('.next'), items: 1 }, pagination: { container: $slides.find(".pagination"), keys: true, anchorBuilder: function(nr) { return '<li><a href="#"><span>'+nr+'</span></a></li>'; } } }); $slideButtons = $slides.find(".next,.prev"); $slides.find('ul.banners').hover(function(){ $slideButtons.fadeIn(); },function(){ $slideButtons.fadeOut(); }); HTML <div id="slides"> <ul class="banners"> <li><img /></li> <li><img /></li> </ul> <ul class="pagination"></ul> <div class="next">Next</div> <div class="prev">Previous</div> </div>

  • input default value Jquery

    - by venom
    $(".box_yazi2").each(function() { var default_value = this.value; $(this).css('color', '#555'); // this could be in the style sheet instead $(this).focus(function() { if(this.value == default_value) { this.value = ''; $(this).css('color', '#000'); } }); $(this).blur(function() { if(this.value == '') { $(this).css('color', '#555'); this.value = default_value; } }); }); }); This function of default value of input doesnt work in FF, but perfectly works in IE and ofcourse the input itself looks like this: <input type="text" class="box_yazi2" id="konu" name="konu" value="Bos" />

  • JQuery Tabs: How to get a list of the tab titles

    - by user340254
    As the title suggest, my question is what is the best way to get or build a list of the titles for the set of tabs. I was thinking I would have to build the list in a for loop, but there does not appear to be any 'name' or 'title' property where you could do something like this: var $tabs = $('contentContainer').tabs(); $tabs.tabs( 'title', index );

  • Click outside menu to close in jquery

    - by George
    So I have a drop-down menu that shows on a click, as per business requirements. The menu becomes hidden again after you mouse away from it. But now I am being asked to have it stay in place until user clicks anywhere on the document. How can this be accomplished? This is a simplified version of what I have now: $(document).ready(function() { $("ul.opMenu li").click(function(){ $('#MainOptSubMenu',this).css('visibility', 'visible'); }); $("ul.opMenu li").mouseleave(function(){ $('#MainOptSubMenu',this).css('visibility', 'hidden'); }); }); <ul class="opMenu"> <li id="footwo" class=""> <span id="optImg" style="display: inline-block;"> <img src="http://localhost.vmsinfo.com:8002/insight/images/options-hover2.gif"/> </span> <ul id="MainOptSubMenu" style="visibility: hidden; top: 25px; border-top: 0px solid rgb(217, 228, 250); background-color: rgb(217, 228, 250); padding-bottom: 15px;"> <li>some</li> <li>nav</li> <li>links</li> </ul> </li> </ul> I tried something like this $('document[id!=MainOptSubMenu]').click(function() thinking it would trigger on anything that wasnt the menu, but it didnt work.

  • How to add string to jQuery selector?

    - by Deshiknaves
    I'm trying to select an id that changes on different posts of same page. So the they have been given an id="show_posts_{PostID}" - on the final output the {PostID} is replaced with a number. In the function I need to call $('show_posts_XXXXXX') - XXXXXX being the generated ID. I have stored this ID in a variable called postId. But I can't seem to do this $("'" + "show_posts_" + postId + "'") Can anyone tell me how I can add a string to the end of a selector?

  • this.optional() in jQuery validation method doesn't seem to work

    - by HiveHicks
    Hello, I've got a little problem here. I've got the following rule for one of my fields: StartDate: { required: isDelayed, dateRU: true } isDelayed() returns false, so I guess StartDate field should be optional. However if I check it inside my dateRU method: $.validator.addMethod( "dateRU", function(value, element) { return this.optional(element) || isValidDate($.trim(value)); }, "Date is incorrect" ); this.optional(element) always returns false for StartDate. I can't figure out what's wrong. Any ideas? UPD. Does optional() returns true only if element is not required AND IS EMPTY? 'Cause that may be my problem.

  • Jquery Close/Open Multiple Toggles

    - by Pedro
    Hi, I have the toggle in my menu Working successfully for the two links that I have within it. Because the top link once toggled covers the other link, there is no problem. But since the link beneath it leaves the top link exposed, a user could click that and now have two toggled items open and pretty much stacked on top of each other. Is there a way for me to check if the other toggled item is open and if so, close it? Thanks! <div class="parents-toggle"> <a href="#" id="customize-toggle">Customize</a><br/> <div class="menu-toggle hidden" id="customize-menu"> <div class="menu-toggle-one"> <h3>Background</h3> <ul> <li><a href="#">Dark Wood</a></li> <li><a href="#">Wallpaper</a></li> <li><a href="#">Bricks</a></li> <li><a href="#">Planks</a></li> <li><a href="#">Default</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="menu-toggle-two"> <h3>Layout</h3> <ul> <li><a href="#">Grid</a></li> <li><a href="#">List</a></li> <li><a href="#">Full</a></li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> <a href="/submit/">Submit video</a><br/> <div class="parents-toggle"> <a href="#" id="channels-toggle">Channels</a> <div class="menu-toggle hidden" id="channels-menu"> <div class="menu-toggle-one"> <ul> <li><a href="#">Automotive</a></li> <li><a href="#">Comedy</a></li> <li><a href="#">Movies</a></li> <li><a href="#">Weather</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="menu-toggle-two"> <ul> <li><a href="#">Business</a></li> <li><a href="#">Commercials</a></li> <li><a href="#">Music</a></li> <li><a href="#">Technology</a></li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> </div> <script> $("#customize-toggle").click(function () { $("#customize-menu").toggle(); }); $("#channels-toggle").click(function () { $("#channels-menu").toggle(); }); </script>

  • jQuery - Finding the element index relative to its container

    - by Hary
    Here's my HTMl structure: <div id="main"> <div id="inner-1"> <img /> <img /> <img /> </div> <div id="inner-2"> <img /> <img class="selected" /> <img /> </div> <div id="inner-3"> <img /> <img /> <img /> </div> </div> What I'm trying to do is get the index of the img.selected element relative to the #main div. So in this example, the index should be 4 (assuming 0 based index) and not 1. My usual way to go about getting indexes is using $element.prevAll().length but, obviously, that will return the index relative to the #inner-2 div. I've tried using $('img.selected').prevAll('#main').length but that's returning 0 :/

  • c# const in jQuery?

    - by Cristian Boariu
    Hi guys, I have this piece of code in javascript: var catId = $.getURLParam("category"); In my asp.net and c# code for "category" query string i use a public const: public const string CATEGORY = "category"; so if i want to change the query string parameter to be "categoryTest" i only change this const and all the code is updated. Now the question is: how can i do something similar for the javascript i have in the same application (so i want to use the same constant)? I mean i want something like this: var catId = $.getURLParam(CQueryStringParameters.CATEGORY); but because there are none asp.net tags, my const is not interpreted... Any workaround?

  • Finding the index of a list item in jQuery

    - by Tim Piele
    I have an unordered list of eight items. On page load the first five <li> have default thumbnail images in them and the 6th one has a 1px by 1px placeholder image with the ID of $('#last'). When a user inserts a new image it replaces the 'src' of $('#last') with their new image. It's not the most efficient way but it works. <ul> <li><img src="img1.png" /></li> <li><img src="img2.png" /></li> <li><img src="img3.png" /></li> <li><img src="img4.png" /></li> <li><img src="img5.png" /></li> <li><img src="1px.png" id="last"/></li> <li></li> <li></li> </ul> When the user adds a new image the ID of $('#last') is removed and I use each() to find the next empty <li> and insert the 1px by 1px image in it, with an ID of $('#last') so it is ready for the next image upload. At this point I need to get the index() of the <li> that now has the 1px by 1px image in it, whose ID is $('#last'), so that I can store the index in the session, so when a user comes back to the page the $('#last') ID is still set and ready to accept another image. How do I get the index of the <li> with that image in it, since it was set after page load? Is there a way to use delegate() or on() to get it? i.e. how do I get the index of an element that was set after page load?
