  • PHP: Manage roles with math?

    - by Mike
    I once saw an article about how to use a specific type of numbering system to manage roles. A user would be assigned a specific role number and depending on a calculation, the number could stand for multiple roles. Can anybody share this technique with me or share a link? Thanks!

    Hi, Just wondering, would the following code arrangement cause any issues when calling mysql_connect, i.e.: public function connect() { mysql_connect($this->host, $this->username, $this->password) or die("Could not connect. " . mysql_error()); or does it need to be all on one line, i.e.: mysql_connect($this->host,$this->username,$this->password) or die("Could not connect. " . mysql_error()); Thanks.

  • PHP save a page then redirect to previous page(ajax)

    - by Shiro
    Dear all, I would like to ask for how to redirect to previous page (ajax paging). Example, Let's say currently I am in page 5, then I click on one record, after I edit it, I would like to go back to that page 5 not page 1. The problem is my paging is using ajax, http://domain/photo/#5 I try to use $_SERVER[http_referer], but I only get http://domain/photo , I not able to get # and the value. What is the best way to redirect back to the previous paging. My last choice is using $_SESSION. Hope I can get better answer here. Thx.

  • PHP/codeigniter - use of exit()

    - by Patrick
    I have a few pages that require login, so all controllers that link to these pages start with $this->checkSession(); //...rest of the code CheckSession should verify the session is still live, otherwise display a message and stop the execution of the rest of the code in the controller: function checkSession() { if (!$this->session->userdata('is_logged_in')) { //the session has expired! $data['main'] = 'confirmation_message'; $data['title'] = "Session expired"; $this->load->vars($data); $this->load->view('template'); exit(); } } . I was expecting these instructions to happen in sequence, but I only get a blank page. How can I make sure exit() gets executed only after all views are loaded?

  • HTML, PHP No data in drop down box

    - by Makinitez21
    Hey, I am trying to figure out why a website's drop down box will not show any options. The data file for this drop down box comes from a microsoft access .mde file. The file is present and after the last update was working fine. Some changes happened to the site, i.e. text got added along with some photos. Im not saying this was when the drop down box went bad, but when it was discovered these were the only changes made. The data file seems fine as it is worked with everyday. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where to begin looking for the bug? For a better idea of what I am talking about, check out the Site http://yogaalliance.org/teacher_search.cfm and try selecting a country. Thank you in advance

  • php nested for statements?

    - by Dashiell0415
    I'm trying to process a for loop within a for loop, and just a little wary of the syntax... Will this work? Essentially, I want to run code for every 1,000 records while the count is equal to or less than the $count... Will the syntax below work, or is there a better way? for($x = 0; $x <= 700000; $x++) { for($i = 0; $i <= 1000; $i++) { //run the code } }

  • PHP scope question

    - by Dan
    Hi, I'm trying to look through an array of records (staff members), in this loop, I call a function which returns another array of records (appointments for each staff member). foreach($staffmembers as $staffmember) { $staffmember['appointments'] = get_staffmember_appointments_for_day($staffmember); // print_r($staffmember['appointments'] works fine } This is working OK, however, later on in the script, I need to loop through the records again, this time making use of the appointment arrays, however they are unavailable. foreach ($staffmembers as $staffmember) { //do some other stuff //print_r($staffmember['appointments'] no longer does anything } Normally, I would perform the function from the first loop, within the second, however this loop is already nested within two others, which would cause the same sql query to be run 168 times. Can anyone suggest a workaround? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • PHP something faster than explode to get filename from URL

    - by FFish
    My URL's can be absolute or relative: $rel = "date/album/001.jpg"; $abs = "http://www.site.com/date/album/image.jpg"; function getFilename($url) { $imgName = explode("/", $url); $imgName = $imgName[count($imgName) - 1]; echo $imgName; } There must be a faster way to do this right? Maybe a reg expression? But that's Chinese to me..

  • PHP/Codeigniter processing a list with javascript

    - by user270797
    I have a list of items that the user can select. I want it to be more user friendly than standard checkboxes so I have seperate div's each with a unique id. When user clicks an item, I use javascript to display a tick on top of that item and change the style to show that it is highlighted. Im trying to work out how I can pass the list of id's when the form is submitted. Remember, if the user unticks an item, it should be removed from the list, I was thinking of using comma seperated values in a hidden text field but couldnt work out how to remove items from the start of the list if they were deselected

  • PHP / Windows - Opendir() fails opening subdirectories within symbolic linked directories

    - by John Himmelman
    Does anyone know a solution to this problem? I'm unable to open a subdirectory within a symboliclink'd directory. I've confirmed that the paths are correct (even copy & pasted the path into explorer, which parsed it fine). This is a strange, annoying, bug :|. Example: C:\folder\symbolic_link\dir1\dir2 - opening dir2 fails. C:\folder\symbolic_link\dir1 - works C:\folder\real_directory\dir1\dir2 - works C:\folder\real_directory\dir1 - works
