Does any one know of an example on how to store an image in a SQL Server CE database?
What data type should the column be? (I am guessing binary.)
I use Linq-To-Datasets. Is it possible using that to put the image into the database and pull it out again later?
Thanks for any advice.

hi,
I need to extract data from my SQL Server database into multiple text files.
I have a table with 4 columns: UserID, UserName, Tag, Score.
I need to create a text file for each Tag (so basically I need to group by Tag and order by score).
Before to start I would like to know what's the fastest way to create several text files:
File titles = TAG field
each line = userID
We are a manufacturing plant that runs off an ERP system written in SQL Server. I have never worked with SQL and therefore do not know the language. What I do know is that a trigger job that was running and updating data for us, is now NO longer running. Is anyone familiar enough to answer any questions about this for me??? Any help would certainly be appreciated!
Thanks,
Jana
Hello,
We have an .NET client app working against SQL Server 2005 (clustered), do I need to do something special in the client app to make it cluster aware?
Thanks.
Is there a plug-in like the java applet @ SQLinForm.com for MS SQL Server Management Studio 2008?
I tried SSMS tools based on someone's answer to my previous question but I don't find any functionality to format (beautify/tabify) SQL.
If somebody could please point out that in SSMS tools or suggest some other tool (preferably free)
Thanks :)
Hi
Is there any way to massively alter primary keys(uid) to all tables with no primary primary keys in sql server database ? I have a lot of tables and most of them don not have primary keys.
Thanks in advance.
I do have a BKS file which contains 15GB+ size. How do I extract the data and run queries on this? I was told that this is SQL Server data. Should I try to upload this to SQL Azure? Any ideas.
We have developers some developers who are developing against a SQL Server 2005 database, while others are using 2008.
We just discovered that generating the edmx against a 2008 database set the ProviderManifestToken to 2008, which means some queries won't work against a 2005 database.
While this is a known issue, is there any way to set this value at run time, based on a config file?
There is an example for today here
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2583228/get-row-where-datetime-column-today-sql-server-noob
I am primarily interested in 2008 only. For today it looked like
SELECT (list of fields)
FROM dbo.YourTable
WHERE dateValue BETWEEN
CAST(GETDATE() AS DATE) AND DATEADD(DAY, 1, CAST(GETDATE() AS DATE))
What literal value of date(s) or functions ( I need a format ) should I place there to make it work independent of local settings.
Hi,
I have a database (SQL server express 2008) which has a column that is defined as text. When we try to store some text which is in chinese, it is not saved. I read that the field should be ntext. I will now have to a conversion to my table to create the column as ntext.
Would I have to do anything with the collation of the database which is set to Latin?

Question: The new SQL Server 2008 database returns me values formatted English (date/float).
Is there a way I can set the return format ?
For example temporarely switching the database language?
Or just set the language for the current query ?
In Oracle's PL-SQL, you can declare a variable and define its type based on a table column:
declare var1 table.column%TYPE;
Is it possible to do something similar in MS SQL Server?
I searched but could not find a duplicate for this question. If there is one, please let me know and I'll refer to it and delete this.
Hi all, I just set up Mercurial on our main webserver, hosting repositories via hgwebdir.cgi. The problem I'm having now is when I run hg push from my local machine to the server's repository, it takes an absolutely ridiculous amount of time to push a very small directory, with only a single changeset. Is it possible that I've set something up wrong? I keep getting HTTP Error 502: Bad Gateway.
Thanks!
hi!
Is there a way to insert only date in a datetime column in sql server without the time?
for example
date (datetime)
===============
12-01-2000
16-02-2000
or i should store this as a varchar and cast it when retriving so that i can convert to whatever form i need.
I need a way to make my database mdf file secure from any adminstrators in SQL Server Express. Because I am developing application with C# connected to SQL Express database.
Hi Experts,
I have a tables with data like this
Id BookId TagId
34 113421 9
35 113421 10
36 113421 11
37 113421 1
38 113422 9
39 113422 1
40 113422 12
I need to write a query (SQL Server) which gives me data according to the tags say if I want bookIds where
tagid =9 it should return bookid 113421 and 113422 as it exists in both the books, but If I ask data for tags 9 and 10 it should return only book 113421 as that is the only book where both the tags are present.
Thanks

Is there any handy tool that can make updating tables easier? Usually I got an Excel file with the original value in one column and new value in another column. Then I write a formula in Excel to create the 'update' statement. Is there any way to simplify the updating task?
I believe the approach in SQL server 2000 and 2005 would be different, so could we discuss them both? Thanks.
