  • load data from external file jQuery

    - by bah
    Hi, I need to take data from external file and format it, the problem is, i want to have that data stored into a variable. Load method works for me, because i need to load not the whole document, but just a part of it, but then again, i want to load to variable and not to some dom element. $.get can do this, but it doesn't support selectors. Is there any way I could make this? Now examples: Mine external file consists of a table, which has format like this: <table><tr><td><img /></td></tr><tr><td><a></a></td><td><span></span></td></tr></table> I need to extract img, a and span tags because I need them to be displayed in different order than they're now. So, is there any chance for me that i could make this work? Thanks.

  • JQuery pass model to controller

    - by slandau
    I want to pass the mvc page model back to my controller within a Javascript Object. How would I do that? var urlString = "<%= System.Web.VirtualPathUtility.ToAbsolute("~/mvc/Indications.cfc/ExportToExcel")%>"; var jsonNickname = { model: Model, viewName: "<%= VirtualPathUtility.ToAbsolute("~/Views/Indications/TermSheetViews/Swap/CashFlows.aspx")%>", fileName: 'Cashflows.xls' } $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: urlString, data: jsonNickname, async: false, success: function (data) { $('#termSheetPrinted').append(data); } }); So where it says model: Model, I want the Model to be the actual page model that I declare at the top of the page: Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage<Chatham.Web.Models.Indications.SwapModel>" How can I do that?

  • JQuery Dialog with constant aspect ratio

    - by David Semeria
    I need to display an image in a resizable dialog (so far all the specific image popup libraries I have tried do not fit my needs). All I want to do is maintain the aspect ratio during resizing. Sounds easy, but it's not. I thought something like this might work, but no dice: var d = $("").dialog({title:title, width:400, height:400}); d.resizable( "option", "aspectRatio", true ); Any pointers greatly appreciated, tks

  • jquery selectors (finding tag)

    - by matthewsteiner
    I'm sure this is simple, but I can't seem to figure it out. I need to be able to pass a function an element id, and know what element tag it is. For example: <a id="first"></a> <input id="last" /> If I know the id is "first", how can I get that the tag is "a"?

  • Chrome + jQuery hide/show inline

    - by Parhs
    Hello I have these things <ul class="ul_std" style="float:right"> <li class="action_buttons" ><a id="button_deleteNormal" class="button_small button_small_red" >??a??af?</a></li> <li class="action_buttons"><a id="button_editCancel" class="button_small" >?????s? ???p?p???s??</a></li> <li class="action_buttons"><a id="button_editNormal" class="button_small" >???p?p???s?</a></li> <li class="action_buttons" style="margin-right:0" ><a id="button_addNormal" class="button_small">???s????</a></li> </ul> The problem is that i hide all of them except the anchor with id = button_addNormal at $(document).ready()... Everything works fine but at chrome when i want to show them ,it displays them as display:inline and not as display:inline-block ... The css class button_small have display:inline-block.... Firefox,IE 6+ works ok... Havent tested on safari but i hope that it would be ok... Why chrome kills inline-block? The solution was to put .css("display","inline-block") instead of .show()

  • JQuery input elements

    - by codeasp
    I need to get all input elements within a div and then attach event handlers, so that whenever values change it updates a hidden field. Children elements within the div might already contain event handlers, if so the attach should chain it. Any help is much appreciated.

  • jquery .get/.post not working on ie 7 or 8, works fine in ff

    - by Samutz
    I have basically this on a page: <script type="text/javascript"> function refresh_context() { $("#ajax-context").html("Searching..."); $.get("/ajax/ldap_search.php", {cn: $("#username").val()}, function(xml) { $("#ajax-context").html($("display", xml).text()); $("#context").val($("context", xml).text()); }, 'xml'); } $(document).ready(function() { $("#username").blur(refresh_context); }); </script> <input type="text" name="username" id="username" maxlength="255" value="" /> <input type="hidden" name="context" id="context" value=""/> <div id="ajax-context"></div> What it should do (and does fine on Firefox) is when you type a username in to the #username field, it will run /ajax/ldap_search.php?cn=$username, which searches our company's ldap for the username and returns it's raw context and a formatted version of the context like this: <result> <display>Staff -&gt; Accounting -&gt; John Smith</display> <context>cn=jsmith,ou=Accounting,ou=Staff,ou=Users,o=MyOrg</context> </result> The formatted version (display) goes to the div #ajax-context and goes to the hidden input #context. (Also, the - are actually - "& g t ;" (without spaces)). However, on IE the div stays stuck on "Searching..." and the hidden input value stays blank. I've tried both .get and .post and neither work. I'm sure it's failing on the .get because if I try this, I don't even get the alert: $.get("/ajax/ldap_search.php", {cn: $("#username").val()}, function() { alert("Check"); }); Also, IE doesn't give me any script errors. Edit: Added "$(document).ready(function() {", the .blur was already in it in my code, but I forgot to include that in my post. Edit 2: The request is being sent and apache2 is receiving it: 10.135.128.96 - - [01/May/2009:10:04:27 -0500] "GET /ajax/ldap_search.php?cn=i_typed_this_in_IE HTTP/1.1" 200 69

  • jQuery: How do I rewrite .after( content, content )?

    - by Evan Carroll
    I've got this form working, but according to my previous question it might not be supported: it isn't in the docs either way -- but the intention is pretty obvious in the code. $(".section.warranty .warranty_checks :last").after( $('<div class="little check" />').click( function () { alert('hi') } ) , $('<span>OEM</span>') /*Notice this (a second) argument */ ); What this does is insert <div class="little check"> with a simple .click() callback, followed by a sibling of <span>OEM</span>. How else can I write this then? I'm having difficulty conjuring something working by chaining any combination of .after(), and .insertAfter()? I would expect this to work, but it doesn't: $(".section.warranty .warranty_checks :last").after( $('<div class="little check" />').click( function () { alert('hi') } ).after ( $('<span>OEM</span>') ) ); I would also expect this to work, but it doesn't: $(".section.warranty .warranty_checks :last").after( $('<span>OEM</span>').insertAfter( $('<div class="little check" />').click( function () { alert('hi') } ) ); );

  • jQuery Validation Plugin ErrorPlacement inside two different elements

    - by Andy Poquette
    I'm trying to place separate error messages in separate elements when validating a large form. The form is divided into jQueryUI tabs, then accordions. When there is an error in an element of a tab, I want to append a red exclamation point to the name of the tab, and if the error is in an accordion element, I also want to append the red exclamation point to the name of the accordion element. Subsequently, when the errors are corrected, I would like those red ! to be removed (exactly as the error message beneath the invalid field is removed. So: Tab1 Tab2 Accordion1 Accordion2 Tab3 If the elements in accordion 2 have an error, I want to append a red ! to accordion2 and tab2: Tab1 Tab2! Accordion1 Accordion2! Tab3 Then remove when the elements successfully validate. I've been trying forever, but I can't figure out how to conditionally change the errorElement (a label won't work for the tab and accordion, but is perfect for the actual element)... Hopefully this makes sense, and thanks for any input you can provide.

  • jQuery Code Only Fires On Hard Refresh?

    - by Rob Vanders
    The XFBML version of the Facebook Registration plugin only loads HTTPS. I need it to load HTTP so my form does not call a security error mismatch between domains. I wrote this code to get the SRC and rewrite it with out HTTPS It works fine on the first load, however on Chrome and Safari it only loads the first time and on HARD refreshes. It does not load on standard reloads or by pressing "enter" on the address bar. Here is the code $(window).load(function () { // Replace HTTPS with HTTP when frame has loaded $(".subscribe iframe").each(function(){ var source = $(this).attr("src"); //alert(source); var sourceNew = source.replace("https", "http"); // change https to http alert(sourceNew); $(this).attr("src", sourceNew); }); }); I have .HTACCESS set to disable server cache <Files *> Header set Cache-Control: "private, pre-check=0, post-check=0, max-age=0" Header set Expires: 0 Header set Pragma: no-cache </Files> What is causing this to not fire reliably? Thanks

  • jQuery - Wait until image loads before performing function

    - by Steven
    I'm trying to create a simple portfolio page. I have a list of thumbs and an image. When you click on a thumb, the image will change. When a thumbnail is clicked, I'd like to have the image fade out, wait until the image is loaded, then fade back in. The problem I have right now is that some of the images are pretty big, so it fades out, then fades back in immediately, sometimes while the image is still loading. I'd like to avoid using setTimeout, since sometimes an image will load faster or slower than the time I set. Here's my code: $(function() { $('img#image').attr("src", $('ul#thumbs li:first img').attr("src")); $('ul#thumbs li img').click(function() { $('img#image').fadeOut(700); var src = $(this).attr("src"); $('img#image').attr("src", src); $('img#image').fadeIn(700); }); }); <img id="image" src="" alt="" /> <ul id="thumbs"> <li><img src="/images/thumb1.png" /></li> <li><img src="/images/thumb2.png" /></li> <li><img src="/images/thumb3.png" /></li> </ul>

  • jQuery: Hide/Display tabs (and its corresponding content) with check boxes

    - by Ricardo
    Hello, Well, this must be very simple to do for most of you, but I have no idea how to accomplish this. I have a set of tabs and on top of the tabs is a set of checkboxes ; each checkbox 'corresponds' to a tab. What I need is to be able to activate/deactivate each checkbox and have its corresponding tab (and the tab's content) hide/display. Here's my HTML: <div class="show-results-from"> <ul> <li>See results from:</li> <li> <label> <input type="checkbox" name="a" id="a"> Products &amp; Services <span>(16)</span></label> </li> <li> <label> <input type="checkbox" name="b" id="b"> Publications <span>(9)</span></label> </li> <li> <label> <input type="checkbox" name="c" id="c"> Other <span>(150)</span></label> </li> </ul> </div> <ul class="tabs"> <li><span rel="tabs1" class="defaulttab">Products &amp; Services</span></li> <li><span rel="tabs2">Publications</span></li> <li><span rel="tabs3">Other</span></li> </ul> <div class="tab-content" id="tabs1">content</div> <div class="tab-content" id="tabs2">content</div> <div class="tab-content" id="tabs3">content</div> Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

  • jQuery and array of objects

    - by sepoto
    $(document).ready(function () { output = ""; $.ajax({ url: 'getevents.php', data: { ufirstname: 'ufirstname' }, type: 'post', success: function (output) { alert(output); var date = new Date(); var d = date.getDate(); var m = date.getMonth(); var y = date.getFullYear(); $('#calendar').fullCalendar({ header: { left: 'prev,next today', center: 'title', right: 'month,basicWeek,basicDay' }, editable: true, events: output }); } }); }); I have code like this and if I copy the text verbatim out of my alert box and replace events: output with events: [{ id: 1, title: 'Birthday', start: new Date(1355011200*1000), end: new Date(1355011200*1000), allDay: true, url: 'http://www.yahoo.com/'},{ id: 2, title: 'Birthday Hangover', start: new Date(1355097600*1000), end: new Date(1355097600*1000), allDay: false, url: 'http://www.yahoo.com'},{ id: 3, title: 'Sepotomus Maximus Christmas', start: new Date(1356393600*1000), end: new Date(1356393600*1000), allDay: false, url: 'http://www.yahoo.com/'},] Everything works just fine. What can I do to fix this problem? I though that using events: output would place the text in that location but it does not seem to be working. Thank you all kindly in advance for any comments or answers!
